DORIS STATKIEWICZ
MIDDLETOWN — Doris (Wells) Statkiewicz, 78, died Sunday, Sept. 6, 1998, in Middlesex Hospital. She was the wife of the late Stanley Statkiewicz.
She was born in Waterbury, Vt., daughter of the late George and Mary (Charest) Wells. Prior to her retirement, she was employed at the Russell Street Deli, Middletown, and J.C. Products Co., Higganum.
She is survived by a daughter, Jeannie Ziomek of Middletown; a son, Alfred Grenier of Lauton, Okla.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and relatives of Meriden.
The funeral was held in St. Mary Church, Middletown, and burial was in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to St. Mary School Fund, 79 So. Main St., Middletown, CT 06457.

PAULINE SZWABOWSKI
WALLINGFORD — Pauline Szwabowski, 72, of 390 Ward St., died Monday, Sept. 14, 1998, at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center, West Campus after a long illness. She was the beloved wife of Stanley Szwabowski.
She was born in Zawieluwie, Polesie, Poland, Feb. 15, 1926, a daughter of the late Dawid and Matrona Sushko Berdnik. She enjoyed her retirement from Pratt & Whitney when wintering in Winter Haven, Fla., with her husband.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her loving daughter, Danuta S. and her son-in-law, Bruce Hartman, of Wallingford; her loving son, Walter Jan and daughter-in-law, Jean O. Szwabowski, of Durham; five sisters, Natalia Dudzinski of New York, Anastasia Lazor of Clifton, N.J., Lydia Wyskwarski and Teena Dubicki of Floral Park, N.Y., and Jane Golinowski of New Hyde Park, N.Y.; three brothers, Basil Berdnik of Clifton, N.J., Stephen Berdnik of Floral Park, N.Y., and Victor Berdnik of Wallingford; three grandchildren, Adam Hartman of Frederick, Md., Jay Hartman and his wife, Jennifer, of Haddam Neck, and Jennifer Szwabowski of Durham; and many nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.
The funeral will leave the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 South Elm St., Wallingford, on Thursday at 9:45 a.m. with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. at the Most Holy Trinity Church, 84 North Colony Road, Wallingford. Burial will be at SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Wallingford. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 4 to 8 p.m.

JOSEPHINE M. WARZECHA
DALEVILLE, Ala. — Josephine (Macri) Warzecha, 79, wife of Edward M. Warzecha, died Saturday, Sept. 12, 1998, at her home.
She was born Oct. 27, 1918, a daughter of the late George and Mary (Gratta) Macri. During her stay in Connecticut, she was employed at the former Bunce's Department Store and at General Motors, Inc.
Besides her husband, she is survived by three sons, George A. Warzecha of Snellville, Ga., Mark E. Warzecha of Clayton, Calif., and Scott E. Warzecha of Montgomery, Ala.; a daughter, Monica Pezzano of Philadelphia; two brothers, Frank Macri and Paul Macri, both of Meriden; a sister, Antoinette Iervasi of Meriden; also eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held Thursday at 8:15 a.m. from the Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown, followed by a funeral liturgy in St. Mary's Church in Middletown Thursday at 9 a.m. Burial will be in the State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown. Friends may call at the Biega Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m.

THELMA J. DUPONT
PALM COAST, Fla. — Thelma Julia Dupont, 94, of Palm Coast, died Sept. 13, 1998, at Flagler Hospital East, St. Augustine, Fla. She was the wife of the late Ellis A. Dupont.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Flagler County. She was a retired school bus driver.
She is survived by four daughters, Margie Barneschi of Wallingford, Conn., Celia Slack of Palm Coast, Melinda Clemons of St. Augustine and Ruth Romero of Sale Creek, Tenn.; two sons, James Dupont of Palm Coast and Russell Dupont of St. Augustine; two sisters, Louise Blount of Hastings, N.Y. and Josephine Eatman of Bunnell, Fla.; 17 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Janette Carroccino.
Graveside services will be held TODAY at Pellicer Creek Cemetery with the Rev. Lucy Norton officiating. Craig Funeral Home of St. Augustine is in charge of arrangements.

JAMES J. FAZZALARO SR.
MERIDEN — James J. Fazzalaro Sr., 85, husband of Emma Okolotowicz Fazzalaro of 28 Westerly Terrace, died Monday night, Sept. 14, 1998, in the Westfield Care and Rehab Center after a brief convalescence.
He was born in Meriden, May 30, 1913, a son of the late Domenic and Rosa DeMaria Fazzalaro. He was a lifelong resident. Mr. Fazzalaro retired in 1978 from the International Silver Co., where he had been a trimmer with 45 years of employment. He also owned and operated the West End Package Store on West Main Street for 30 years. He was a life member and a past-president of the Meriden Unison Club. He had been a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, where he had been a member of the Holy Name Society. A lifetime New York Yankees fan, he also found the time to make furnishings and items in his woodworking shop. He very much enjoyed growing his own vegetables in his garden.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, James J. Fazzalaro Jr. of Southington; a daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Patrick Corbitt of Old Bridge, N.J.; five grandchildren, Jeanna Fazzalaro, Cathleen, Christine, Jonathan and Megan Corbitt; a brother, Msgr. Francis Fazzalaro of Pompano Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Johanna Fazzalaro and Eleanore Fazzalaro, both of Meriden; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Geraldine C. Fazzalaro of Bristol. He was predeceased by two brothers, Julius Fazzalaro and Joseph Fazzalaro and two sisters, Theresa A. Fazzalaro and Lena Fazzalaro.
Friends and family may gather for his funeral services Friday, Sept. 18, 1998, at 9:15 a.m. in the Smith-Ruzzo Funeral Home, 226 W. Main St., Meriden, with his Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. He will be interred in Sacred Heart Cemetery. There will be calling hours in the funeral home Thursday, Sept. 17, 1998 from 4 to 8 p.m. Mr. Fazzalaro's family requests that contributions be made to the Hospice Community Services (formerly VNA) 658 Broad St., Meriden, CT 06450.

NICHOLAS SIMEONE
NORTH HAVEN — Nicholas Simeone, 80, of 532 Quinnipiac Ave., died Monday, Sept. 14, 1998, at the Connecticut Hospice after a long illness. He was the husband of Theodora Nowicki Simeone.
Mr. Simeone was born in New Haven on June 7, 1918, and was the son of the late Dominick and Concetta Spratta Simeone. A resident of North Haven for the past 47 years, he was the owner and operator of Nicholas Simeone Inc. Painting Contractors for many years until his retirement. He had served in the U.S. Army for four years during World War II.
Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Linda Betta of Wallingford; a son, Richard Simeone of North Haven; brothers, Joseph Simeone of West Haven and James Simeone of Easton, Maine; a sister, Lucille Fabricatore of New Haven; eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Valerie Betta, a sister, Frances DeGennaro and a brother, Paul Simeone.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend a graveside service on Friday morning at 10 a.m. at the North Haven Center Cemetery, Elm Street, North Haven. There will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Connecticut Hospice, 61 Burban Drive, Branford, CT 06405. The North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., North Haven, is in charge of the arrangements.

MARY ARNOLD
WALLINGFORD — Mary Wheeler Arnold, 77, of Sunny Acres, formerly of West Haven, died Tuesday, Sept. 15, 1998, at Veterans Memorial Medical Center in Meriden.
Mrs. Arnold was born in New Haven, April 21, 1921, the daughter of the late George and Roseanne Cassidy Wheeler. She was raised by her aunt, Catherine Bohan, and family and resided in West Haven for many years until moving to Wallingford more than 20 years ago. She had been employed at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Corp. in North Haven for 20 years until her retirement in 1985. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Yalesville.
She is survived by her devoted companion, Thomas J. Hughes of Wallingford; her three daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Walter Ogrisek and Frances and Frank DePalma, all of Wallingford, and Mariann Arnold of Meriden; her son and daughter-in-law, James R. and Gloria Arnold of East Putnam; her two brothers, Charles Wheeler of Deerfield Beach, Fla. and James Wheeler of Lake Worth, Fla.; her 11 grandchildren, Caren, Scott, Tracy, Klaren, Michele, Nicole, Stacy, Meaghan, Rebecca, Jennafer and Jaimie; her four great-grandchildren, Hannah, Katharine, Bryce and Saige; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Cynthia Denise Arnold, her brother, George Wheeler and numerous members of the Bohan family.
Her family will receive relatives and friends at the Yalesville Funeral Home, 386 Main St., Yalesville, Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday at 9 a.m. from the Yalesville Funeral Home, when the funeral cortege will proceed to Our Lady of Fatima Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment will be in In Memoriam Cemetery, Wallingford. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

IRENE B. BERRY
MERIDEN — Irene B. Berry, 94, of 320 Colony St., wife of the late Earl Berry, died on Monday, Sept. 14, 1998, at the Bradley Home in Meriden.
She was born in Finland on June 16, 1904, and was the daughter of the late Carl and Hulda (Tobiason) Byman.
Mrs. Berry had lived in Meriden for the past 70 years and was a member of the First Congregational Church and of the Eastern Star.
Mrs. Berry is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Creehan of Cherry Hill, N.J.; three granddaughters; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lillian Fraser of Terryville.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend a memorial service to be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Bradley Home with the Rev. Meredith Jeffers officiating. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden.

ROBERT E. MADIGAN
SAN DIEGO, Calif. — Robert Edward Madigan, 48, formerly of Southington, Conn., died Monday, Sept. 14, 1998.
Born in Southington Oct. 5, 1949, he was the son of William and Lois (Mackey) Madigan of Melbourne Beach, Fla.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Vietnam War.
Robert is survived by his parents, William and Lois; an uncle, Paul Mackey of Southington; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the Plantsville Memorial Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville.
Burial will follow in South End Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
