CONSTANTINO MASSUCCIO
SOUTHINGTON – Constantino "Muzzy" Massuccio, 77, of 408 Main St., died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 1998, at Ridgewood Health Care.
Born March 11, 1921, in Southington, he was the son of the late Pasqualle and Mary (Boggia) Massucci, and was a lifelong resident of Southington. Mr. Massuccio was a U.S. Army veteran and an honorary member of the American Legion Kiltonic Post 72.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews and predeceased by four brothers, Frank, Fiore, Richard and John Massucci.
The funeral will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Church. Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St.

ERNEST J. TARANTINO
NORTH HAVEN — Ernest J. Tarantino, 61, of 38 Drazen Drive, died Sunday, Aug. 16, 1998, after being struck by lightning while golfing on vacation in Myrtle Beach, S.C. He was the husband of Mary Ann Quaini Tarantino.
Mr. Tarantino was born in Waterbury on Dec. 28, 1936, and was the son of the late Ernest P. and Carmela Lembo Tarantino. A resident of North Haven since 1965, he had worked for the Connecticut Laminating Co. for the past 36 years and was plant manager at the time of his death. A graduate of Fairfield University, he had served as president of the North Haven Jaycees for two years and was also a lifetime member. He was executive vice president of the Connecticut Jaycees and had served as its chaplain. He was Jaycee of the Year and was a United States Jaycee senator. He was awarded the Outstanding Young Men of America Award in 1972. He was a member of the North Haven Bicentennial Committee, was chairman of the North Haven Beautification Committee and was instrumental in starting the North Haven involvement in Special Olympics and worked with learning-disabled children. He was active in the North Haven Little League and youth basketball and the North Haven junior track program. He coached the North Haven Middle School girls basketball team, was a player and coach of the Hutton's men's softball team and was also coach of the North Haven Jaycees women's softball team. He was an umpire for North Haven, New Haven and Hamden softball leagues and was a CIAC softball umpire. He served in the U.S. Army for two years and was a parishioner of St. Frances Cabrini Church.
Besides his wife, he leaves daughters, Angela Marie Tarantino of Meriden and Andrea Carla Tarantino of Muncy, Pa.; a son, Ernest J. Tarantino Jr. of North Haven; and a sister, Josephine Theriault of Plantsville.
His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., North Haven, Friday morning at 10:30. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Frances Cabrini Church, North Haven, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, North Haven. The visiting hours will be Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Children Inc., Box 5381, Richmond, VA 23220.

Dr. Ethel A. Kennedy
NORTH HAVEN -- Dr. Ethel Agnes Kennedy, 70, formerly of Clintonville Road, died Friday, Aug. 7, 1998, at New Britain General Hospital after a long illness.
Dr. Kennedy was born in New Haven on Dec. 6, 1919, and was the daughter of the late William J. Kennedy Sr. and Agnes Loveland Kennedy. She was a resident of North Haven for many years until entering the Hospital for Special Care, New Britain. She obtained her bachelor's degree in economics and sociology from Albertus Magnus College, a master's in history and her doctorate in student personnel administration from Columbia University. Her graduate studies were performed at the University of Pennsylvania , for State Health Department Scholarship, Stanford University, London School of Economics, University of London, England, Yale University, New York University and Fairfield University for the study of psychological testing.
She had taught and served as dean of girls at East Haven High School, where she developed the guidance department. She was dean of girls at Lyman Hall High School in Wallingford and also served as guidance director. She was director of pupil personnel services for the Wallingford school system for eight years. She was a member of the national and Connecticut Association of Women Deans, where she served as state president, the Delta Kappa Gamma International Honor Society for Women in Education, where she served as the first president and state chairman, the Pi Lambda Theta honor society for education students, Columbia Chapter, where she served as regional alumni ambassador, Connecticut and National Association of Pupil Personnel Administrators, Connecticut Associations for Supervisors of Instruction in Special Education, for Counselor Education and Supervision and for Children with Learning Disabilities. She was a member of the nursing council for the Meriden-Wallingford Hospital School of Nursing for eight years, member of the President's Advisory Council, Central Connecticut State College for 15 years, a member of the board of directors for the Connecticut Council on Teacher Education, a member of the Wallingford Associations for the Retarded and for Children with Learning Disabilities, where she had served as president, and an international delegate of Meriden Zonta Club, a service organization for executive women. She was a member of the Greater Hartford Guidance Directors' Association and former member of the American Educational Research Association, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the national Vocational Guidance Association, the American Rehabilitation Counseling Association and the American Personnel and Guidance Association. She served on the Governor's Committee on the Status of Women. She was a member of the Eve Lear Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughter of Founders and Patriots of America, the New Haven Colony, New England Women, the United States Daughters of 1812, the North Haven Mayflower Society, former member of the North Haven Garden Club and had taught St. Barnabas CCD for four years. Miss Kennedy is listed in Who's Who in the East, Who's Who of American Women and Dictionary of International Biography in England. She was a former parishioner of St. Barnabas Church.
She leaves a sister-in-law, Amelia Kennedy of North Haven. She was predeceased by a brother, William J. Kennedy Sr.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday morning at 10 in St. Barnabas Church, 44 Washington Ave., North Haven. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Please omit flowers and make all contributions to ALS Association, 21021 Ventura Blvd., Suite 321, Woodland Hills, CA 91364. The North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., is in charge of the arrangements.

Edwina W. Somerset
MERIDEN -- Edwina W. Somerset, 85, of 447 Broad St., beloved wife of the late Joseph W. Somerset, died Thursday, Aug. 20, 1998, in New Britain General Hospital after a brief illness.
She was born in Island Falls, Maine, Sept. 29, 1913, a daughter of the late Brayley P.H. and Annie Howard Webb. Prior to her retirement she was the assistant manager with the former Hudson County National Bank, in Jersey City, N.J. She was a resident of Meriden for many years, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by a step-daughter, Edith A. Hilton of Norwood, Mass.; a brother, Clayton Webb of Maine; three sisters, Arolyn Joyce of Maine, Pauline Glenn, of New Jersey, Maxine Bradford of Missouri. She is also survived by four step-granddaughers, one step great-granddaughter, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Evelyn Williams, and two brothers, Kenneth Webb, and Norman "Buddy" Webb.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, Aug. 22, 1998, at 11 a.m. at the Beecher & Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. The Rev. Richard A. Koenig will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Walnut Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 127 Washington Ave., P.O. Box 188, North Haven, CT 06473-0188.

CATHERINE A. AMANN
MERIDEN — Catherine A. Amann, 80, of 123 Miller St., died suddenly on Thursday, Aug. 20, 1998, at Hartford Hospital.
Born in Meriden, April 2, 1918, she was the daughter of the late August J. and Louise (Nenninnger) Zemke. Mrs. Amann attended St. Rose of Lima Parochial School, and was retired from many occupations in various fields. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Catherine is survived by two daughters, Carol Cardona and Patricia Brown, both of Meriden; five grandchildren, Cathy Adams of Terryville, Christina Rios, Diane Cardona, Patricia Cardona, and Bonnie Hernandez, all of Meriden; six great-grandchildren, Amy DiStefano of Terryville, Edwin and Jeremy DeJesus of Meriden, William and Daniel Cardona, and Elizabeth Hernandez, all of Meriden; a sister, Frances Kindt of New Britain; and a brother, Joseph Zemke of Meriden; and by several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Amann was predeceased by a son, Warren Joseph Austin.
The funeral will be on Monday at 10 a.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church, 262 Bee St., with the Rev. Gary Mueller officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Drive, Wallingford, CT 06492. Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St.

SYLVESTER J. MAURI
MERIDEN — Sylvester J. Mauri, 88, of 183 Sandy Lane, husband of the late Olga Baska Mauri, died on Friday morning, Aug. 21, 1998, at Veterans Memorial Medical Center, West Campus, after a brief illness.
Born in Chester, July 24, 1910, son of the late Charles and Mary Mauri, he had lived in Meriden for most of his life.
He attended local schools and was a graduate of Meriden High School, class of 1930.
Mr. Mauri was employed by Railway Agency in Meriden for over 40 years, retiring some 23 years ago, and he was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church.
Mr. Mauri is survived by two brothers-in-law and their wives, Harold and Virginia Baska of Meriden and Lynnwood and Shirley Baska of South Windsor; and by several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., and at 10:30 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church.
Burial will be in SS. Peter & Paul Russian Orthodox Cemetery, Meriden. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 9 to 10 a.m. prior to Mass. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the St. Rose of Lima Church Fund, 35 Center St., Meriden, CT 06450.

HELEN N. OTROCKI
MERIDEN — Helen N. Otrocki, 77, of 47 Wilson Ave., wife of Frank Otrocki, died on Friday, Aug. 21, 1998, at home after a lengthy illness.
Born in Wallingford on Feb. 22, 1921, the daughter of the late Anna and Matthew Lacz, she lived in Meriden for most of her life. Mrs. Otrocki was employed by Rogers Manufacturing in Rockfall before retiring, and she was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church.
Besides her husband, Frank, she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra Otrocki and James Freeman; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Tony and Lisa Otrocki and Michael Otrocki; a granddaughter, Gabrielle Otrocki; a sister, Maria Markiewicz; and a brother, Leo Lacz; and a sister-in-law, Agnes Lacz. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Otrocki was predeceased by three brothers, Walter, John and Joseph Lacz.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., and at 10 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Church. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to St. Stanislaus School Fund, 81 Akron St., Meriden, CT 06450, or to Franciscan Hospice Care, P.O. Box 4001, Meriden, CT 06450.
The family would like to extend a special "thank you" to the Franciscan Hospice for all of their care and support.

CATHERINE LEIGH
WEST HAVEN — Catherine Montgomery Leigh, 92, formerly of 41 Richards St., West Haven, died Saturday, Aug. 22, 1998, in Skyview Convalescent Home of Wallingford after a brief illness. She was the widow of Maurice Leigh.
Mrs. Leigh, daughter of the late Archibald and Catherine Allen Montgomery, was born in New Castle, England, May 10, 1906, and came to this country, settling in Fair Haven and was a resident of West Haven for 67 years.
Her survivors include her son, Robert Leigh of West Haven and her daughters, Elaine Shaw and Lois Pendred, both of Wallingford; sisters, Grace Morgan of Wallingford and Ruth Sexton of Michigan; 14 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by two brothers, John and Thomas Montgomery and by a sister, Margaret Thompson.
Funeral services will be held at the West Haven Funeral Home, at the Green, Tuesday at 10 a.m.
The hours for visitation will be Monday from 4 to 8 p.m.
Interment will be in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
