Mary E. McNeil
GROTON — Mary Elizabeth McNeil, 56, of 13 Liberty Drive, died Thursday at her home.
She was born in New London, April 1, 1942, the daughter of the late John and Mary Love McNeil. She was a 1960 graduate of New London High School. She worked at the Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London for many years. Mrs. McNeil was a member of the New London High School Band Booster Club and the New London High School Alumni Association.
She is survived by two brothers, John McNeil of Groton and Jim McNeil of Wallingford.
The funeral procession will assemble Monday at 9:15 a.m. at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Ocean Ave., New London. A Mass of Christian burial will follow in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. There are no calling hours.

Alton E. Evarts
MERIDEN — Alton Edward Evarts, 78, of 336 Hanover St., died suddenly Tuesday, July 7, 1998, at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center. He was the husband of Dorothy Krampitz Evarts.
He was born Jan. 12, 1920, in Meriden, a son of the late Henry and Sybil Potter Evarts. He was the owner of the Meriden Awning Co. from 1964 until his death. He was known for taking great pride in his craftsmanship. He was a lifelong resident of Meriden. He had belonged to the South Meriden Volunteer Fire Department, the North Italian Home Club and the New Britain Elks Lodge. He had enjoyed camping and model trains.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra J. and Bruce Seagren; three sons and daughters-in-law, Edward A. and Isabel Evarts of Pittsburg, N.H., Donald P. and Susan Evarts of Essex and Robert A. and Cindy Evarts of Fulton, Md.; a brother, Henry Evarts Jr. of Homosassa, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Paul Evarts of Meriden, Kyle Evarts in the Air Force, Todd Evarts of Colchester, James Evarts of Westbrook, Marissa Bossidy and Travis Bossidy of Meriden, Tristan Evarts, Samuel Evarts and Stephanie Calbecca, all of Fulton, Md.; and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Marion Daigle and a half-brother, Richard Evarts.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Beecher and Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden.

Peter C. Kozlowski Sr.
WATERBURY — Peter C. Kozlowski Sr., 86, of 16 Fourth St., died Monday, July 6, 1998, at St. Mary’s Hospital. He was the husband of the late Josephine (Polzella) Kozlowski.
Born Feb. 23, 1911, in Seymour, son of the late John and Mary (Seabek) Kozlowski. He had retired from the American Brass Co. of Waterbury. He had lived in Florida for seven years after his retirement.
He is survived by a son and a daughter-in-law, Peter Kozlowski Jr. and Jan Kozlowski of Southington; a daughter, Katherine Calloway of Dennis, Mass.; five grandchildren and a great-grandson. He was predeceased by a brother, Jack Coley and a sister, Mary Pulaski.
The funeral will be held at 9:15 a.m. Friday, July 10, from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington, and at 10 a.m. in St. Aloysius Church in Southington. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 9, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rose Hope Animal Rescue, P.O. Box 34, Meriden, CT 06450.

Elizabeth LaFrance
SOUTHINGTON — Elizabeth LaFrance, 78, of 500 Pleasant St., died Monday, July 6, 1998, at New Britain General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Euclid LaFrance.
Born April 27, 1920, in St. Francis, Maine, daughter of the late Regis and Edith (Thibodeau) Michaud. She had retired from Zayres. Mrs. LaFrance was a parishioner of St. Dominic Church.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Donald and Patricia LaFrance of Plantsville and Arnold LaFrance of Fort Kent, Maine; four daughters and sons-in-law, Georgianna and Ralph Patterson of Aurora, Colo., Jeannine and Elray Oakes of Fort Kent, Maine, Anna Marie and Frank Romaniello of Torrington and Carol Ann and Brian Carrozza of Southington; three sisters, Irene Cyr and Marion Pelletier of St. Francis, Maine, and Yvette Syversten of Oxnard, Calif.; 18 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews.
A Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 11, at St. Dominic Church. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery. There are no calling hours. DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., is in charge of arrangements.

Andrew M. Mahadocon
MERIDEN — Andrew M. Mahadocon, 26, of Meriden died Tuesday, July 7, 1998, at Bridgeport Hospital.
He was born in Corona, Calif. He graduated from Maloney High School in 1989 and was employed by the Dattco Co. He had served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Pagan) Mahadocon; his father, Frederick Mahadocon of Norco, Calif.; his mother, Theresa Tosetti of Middletown; two sons, Spencer and Talon of Meriden; four sisters, Ann Heath of Meriden, Anita Ganaros of Rockfall, Alita Mahadocon of Las Vegas, Angel Mahadocon of Meriden; a maternal grandmother, Rose Badolato of Middletown; an aunt Anita Maruffi of Providence, R.I.; an uncle, Steven Badolato of Laquna Beach, Calif.; two nieces and three nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 9, at 1 p.m. at the Rose Hill Funeral Home, 580 Elm St., Rocky Hill. Burial at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the funeral home two hours prior to the service.

Jean M. Petermann
MERIDEN — Jean M. Petermann, 84, wife of the late Clarence Petermann, died suddenly on Tuesday, July 7, 1998, at Veterans Memorial Medical Center, West Campus.
Born Nov. 9, 1913, in Meriden, she was the daughter of the late John and Stella (Bochinski) Sobieski. She was educated in Meriden and was a lifelong resident. Mrs. Petermann was employed at various times in her life by New Departure, International Silver Co. and General Electric and she was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church.
She is survived by her son, Joel J. Petermann of Cheshire; and three brothers, Alfred Sobieski of Meriden, Thaddeus R. Sobieski of Atlanta and Stanley H. Sobieski of Winter Haven, Fla. Mrs. Petermann is also survived by a special cousin, Irene Sumoski of Southington, and by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Charles W. Stankewicz.
The funeral will be held at 9:15 a.m. Friday, July 10, from the John J. Ferry and Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., and at 10 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Church. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 9, at the funeral home. Should friends desire, contributions in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Drive, Wallingford, CT 06492.

Jaime J. Woodtke
TEAYS VALLEY, W. Va. — Jaime J. Woodtke, son of Shirley Mangler of Branford, Conn., and Bruce Woodtke, died Sunday, July 5, 1998, of injuries received in a motor vehicle accident in Teays Valley.
He was a student at Wilcox Regional Vocational Technical School in Meriden, Conn. He was honorably discharged as a sergeant from the U.S. Army after 12 years of service, including tank commander in Operation Desert Storm in the Persian Gulf. He served with the 24th Infantry Division (mechanized) of Fort Stewart, Ga., and also saw duty in Korea and Germany. He was currently employed by the U.S. Postal Service in Huntington.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife, Tina of Teays Valley; a daughter, Angela of Copperas Cove, Texas ; stepsons, Paul and Chris Newman of Teays Valley; two brothers, William of Wallingford, Conn., and Wayne of Meriden; two sisters, Laura McDonald of Florida and Marli Roblee of Durham, Conn.; and one nephew, Jeffrey Roblee Jr. of Durham.
Services will be held Thursday in Charleston, West Virginia.

Patrick F. Biafore
MERIDEN — Private cremation services were held for Patrick F. Biafore, husband of Audrey Rubano Biafore, of Ann Street, Meriden. At Mr. Biafore's request, no formal obituary will be published.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Yalesville Funeral Home, 386 Main St., Yalesville section of Wallingford.

Stella Boyko
MERIDEN — Stella Boyko, 82, of 360 Broad Street, wife of the late William Boyko, died Monday, July 6, 1998, at Miller Memorial Community after a brief illness.
Born in Sandisfield, Mass. on Dec. 1, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Victor and Agatha Lincovitch. She attended schools in Massachusetts and had lived here for most of her life. Mrs. Boyko, along with her late husband, had owned and operated a grocery store on Cedar Street and on Veteran Street and had also owned and operated a bar and restaurant on Veteran Street for many years. She was a parishioner of SS Peter & Paul Orthodox Church.
Mrs. Boyko is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Joseph William and Ann Boyko and John V. Boyko, all of Meriden; and three sisters, Polly Caninzio of Bridgeport, Doris Hyrchavich of Sandisfield, Mass. and Helen Lucas of Winsted. She was predeceased by four sisters, Viola Smith, Isabell Grum, Olga Symchuk and Nellie Mashuta and two brothers, Benjamin and Nicholas Lincovitch.
A funeral procession will leave the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden, on Thursday at 10:15 a.m. for the burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery at 11 a.m. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m.

Mary H. Brown
SOUTHINGTON — Mary H. Schultz Brown, 92, formerly of Berlin Avenue, died July 6, 1998 at Care Manor in Farmington. She was the wife of the late Stanley E. Brown.
Born in Hartford on July 22, 1905, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Theresia Manner Schultz. She retired in 1955 from the Connecticut State Highway Department. She was a member of the Calendar House of Southington.
She is survived by a special nephew, William E. Schultz of Manchester, and many other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 8, at Plantsville Memorial Funeral Home, 975 South Main St., Plantsville, at 2 p.m. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
