MARTHA A. PIRK
WALLINGFORD – Martha A. Helwig Pirk, 82, of 39 Stillwood Road, died Tuesday, July 14, 1998, suddenly at her home. She was the wife of the late Paul A. Pirk. Mrs. Pirk, a daughter of the late Frederick C. and Emma Drinkmann Helwig, was born in New Haven on July 19, 1915. She was a resident of North Haven for many years before moving to Wallingford.
She was a secretary with the Seaboard Coal & Oil Co. of New Haven before her retirement. She was active in the Temple Sweetheart Square Dancing Club of North Haven and a volunteer at the Masonic Home in Wallingford.
She leaves daughters, Nancy Potter and Betsy Dorrico, both of Wallingford; a brother, Fred Helwig of Bayonet Point, Fla.; grandchildren, Krista Blier, Kimberly Azzolina, Stacey Durand, Jennifer Hilinski and Michael Potter; and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, Hilda Webber.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 17, at 10 a.m. in Trinity Lutheran Church at the corner of 292 Orange and Wall Street, New Haven. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Beecher and Bennett Funeral Home, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden. Burial will be in Beaverdale Memorial Park, Hamden. Contributions in her memory may be made to Connecticut Hospice Inc., 61 Burban Drive, Branford, CT 06405.

ALBERT A. SIMONS SR.
SOUTHINGTON — Albert A. Simons Sr., 80, of Summerfield, Fla., formerly of Southington, died Monday, July 13, 1998, in Florida. He was the husband of Valerie (Ivanauska) Simons.
Born in Waterbury, on Oct. 11, 1917, he was the son of the late Stephen and Petronella (Streleckis) Simons. He had resided in Southington prior to moving to Florida. Mr. Simons had retired from the Arute Brothers in New Britain. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving in the China Burma India campaign. He was a member of the I.U.O.E. #478 and the I.U.O.E. Retirement Club in Ocala, Fla., the American Legion Kiltonic Post 72, the Lithuanian Club of Waterbury, and the C.B.I. Club of Ocala.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Albert J. Simons Jr. and his wife, Diane, of Southington; three daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Philip Houle of Southington, Margaret and Michael Fuhringer of Michigan, Helen and John Sioch of Durham; a sister, Eugenia Montesi of Bushnell, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Noreen Patterson, Lisa Carlone, Anthony, Michael, and Darcy Simons, John, Joseph and Jason Sioch; five great-grandchildren, Brian Simons, Justin and Jesse Patterson, Dominic and Nicholas Albert Carlone; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Daniel Simons and Leonard (Szimanouss) Simons.
The funeral will be held on Saturday at 9:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. to St. Aloysius Church at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors will be in St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.

LUCY WILSON
WESTBROOK – Lucy (Snow) Wilson, age 98, of Boston Post Road, died Wednesday, July 15, 1998, at Middlesex Hospice, Middletown, after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Ernest S. Wilson.
She was born in Meriden, Aug. 29, 1899, daughter of the late William and Bessie (Taylor) Snow. She lived in Westbrook since 1942 and was a member of the First Congregational Church, Westbrook, and the Ladies Society.
She is survived by two sons, John Wilson of Westbrook and Robert S. Wilson of Meriden; six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Road, Old Saybrook. Burial in Cypress Cemetery, Westbrook. Memorial donations may be made to the Middlesex Hospice, c/o Middlesex Hospital, 55 Crescent St., Middletown, 06457.

BERTHA ALDRICH
WALLINGFORD — Bertha M. Stubbs Aldrich, 81, formerly of 516 Pilgrims Harbor, and a longtime Branford resident, died Wednesday, July 15, 1998, at the Arden House in Hamden after a long illness. She was the widow of Norman G. Aldrich.
She was born in Pawtucket, R.I., on June 20, 1917, a daughter of the late William F. and Mary Emma Stubbs. She was employed for several years by the former Edward Malley Department Store in New Haven as a salesperson. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Branford and the Wallingford Senior Citizens.
She is survived by three daughters, Marguerite Genovese, of Branford, Diane Aldrich Parcesepe, of Boca Raton, Fla., and Susan Granata, of Wallingford; two brothers, William Stubbs, of Florida, and Augustus Stubbs, of Uncasville; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Albert Stubbs, and a sister, Irene Robert.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 18, at 12 noon in the Trinity Episcopal Church in Branford. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery, East Haven. Friends may call at the Curtis-Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, 69 South Main St., Branford, on Friday, July 17, from 4 to 8 p.m. Contributions may be made to the Arden House Patient Fund, 850 Mix Ave., Hamden 06518.

MICHAEL GIANGRECO
ANSONIA — Michael "Mouse" Giangreco, 77, of 70 Woodlawn Ave., died unexpectedly at his home Wednesday, July 15, 1998.
Born Jan. 2, 1921, in Ansonia, he was a son of the late Michael and Rose Scavone Giangreco. A life long resident of Ansonia, he had been employed as an auto body repairman for more than 50 years throughout the valley. He served as a sheriff in New Haven County for more than five years. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Marine Corps, and was awarded numerous medals and citations for his acts of heroism. He was a member of the Holy Rosary Church, the VFW and the American Legion, all of Ansonia.
He is survived by three sons, Michael K. Giangreco, of Wallingford, Richard M. Giangreco, of Ansonia and Michael R. Giangreco, of Ansonia; two daughters, Linda Valente, of Wallingford, and Barbara Giangreco, of Meriden; a brother, John Greco, of Seymour; a sister, Mary Ann Everretts, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Giangreco, and a sister, Antoinette Ventre.
Burial will be private. Spinelli-Malerba Funeral Home, 62 Beaver St., Ansonia, is in charge of arrangements.

JANINA KALUZKA
WALLINGFORD — Janina (Strzalka) Kaluzka, 60, of Wallingford, died unexpectedly Thursday, July 16, 1998, at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
She was born in Poland, and had resided in Wallingford since 1981, previously residing in New Britain for seven years. Mrs. Kaluzka was the daughter of Julia Strzalka of Plainville and the late Jan Strzalka. She was a member of the Polish National Alliance.
She is also survived by her husband, Leslaw Kaluszka; two sons, Zbyszek Kaluzka of New York and Jerry Kaluzka of Wallingford. Also surviving are two granddaughters, Christine and Elizabeth; a brother, Stanley Strzalka of New Britain; and two sisters, Stella Haryza of New Britain and Christine Irizzary of Plainville; several nieces and nephews.
The rite of committal will be on Saturday at 8:15 a.m. at the New Britain Memorial Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain, followed by the funeral liturgy at 9 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 158 Broad St., New Britain. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Calling hours will be today from 5 to 8 p.m.

STANLEY MROZOWSKI JR.
MERIDEN — Stanley "Pip" E. Mrozowski Jr., husband of Anna M. Naples Mrozowski, of 34 Gay St., died Thursday, July 16, 1998, in Hartford Hospital.
Born in Meriden, June 25, 1920, he was the son of the late Stanley and Anna Slavinski Mrozowski. He was a lifelong resident of Meriden. He retired in 1982 as a purchasing contract specialist with the U. S. Postal Service in Hartford, after many years of employment. Prior to that he had been employed by the State of Connecticut, Pratt and Whitney Aircraft and, right after the war, General Electric. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. While serving in the Pacific, his transport ship, Cape San Juan, was torpedoed and sunk. He spent 48 hours in the water before being rescued. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. He was a 50 year member of the Knights of the Blessed Virgin, the Polish Legion of American Veterans, the American Legion Post No. 45, the Postal A.A.R.P., the Police Benevolent Association and the Boy's Club Alumni Association. He was the City of Meriden singles tennis champion four times. He earned possession of the Mayor's Cup for having won the championship three times. Also, he and his partner, Ray Fournier, were one the city's doubles champs.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Jean Mrozowski Saunders and her husband, Clifford, of South Meriden, and Irene Mrozowski Fretz Sr. and her husband, Maynard, of Meriden; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
His funeral service will begin in the Smith-Ruzzo Funeral Home, 226 West Main St., Saturday, July 18, at 8:15 a.m., with procession to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church for a Mass of Christian burial at 9 a.m. He will be interred with military honors in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.

FLORENCE R. PUSHE
LARGO, Fla. — Florence R. Pushe, age 82, of Largo, entered into the presence of our Lord on Monday, July 13, 1998, while at home, following a lengthy illness.
She was born in Jamestown, N.Y., on April 30, 1916, to the Rev. Niels Lawrence Larsen and Ruth Evensen Larsen. Most of her early years were spent in Hartford, Conn. She graduated from Bulkeley High School, followed by employment with the Travelers Insurance Company until her marriage to the late Raymond C. Pushe.
She is survived by a son, Raymond Pushe, and his wife, Sharon, of Largo, with whom she resided; a son, Neil Pushe of Bristol, Conn.; a grandson, Carl Pushe; a granddaughter, Sandra Pushe, who brought her much joy and physical care; two sisters, Eleanor Brodersen of Spring Hill, Fla., and Dorothy Larsen of Meriden, Conn.; a brother, Niels Lawrence (Larry) Larsen of East Hampton, Conn.; along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth Larsen of East Haddam, Conn., and Sheldon Larsen of Burlington, Conn.
Previously she resided in Southington, Conn., and was a former member of Calvary Baptist Church in Meriden, where she enjoyed being active during the years from 1959 to 1975, until with her husband, "Hap," she retired to Florida.
A memorial service will be held at the Calvary Baptist Church, 262 Bee St., Meriden, at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 1998. At a future date, a private interment will be held at the Rose Hill Memorial Park in Rocky Hill, Conn. In lieu of flowers, a contribution in her memory may be made to the charity of one's choice. Local arrangements are under the direction of the Beecher and Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden.

JOHN T. TUTTLE
WALLINGFORD — John J. Tuttle, 55, of Lupine St., died Thursday, July 16, 1998, in the Connecticut Hospice, in Branford. He was the husband of Roberta Vaillancourt Tuttle.
Born in Troy, N.Y., May 29, 1943, son of Henry H. Tuttle of Leete's Island, Guilford, and North Port, Fla., and the late Jane Tarleton Tuttle, he was a Wallingford resident since 1966. Mr. Tuttle was employed as a supervisor for several area transportation companies.
Besides his wife and father, Mr. Tuttle is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Jill T. and Alden R. Foxhall III, a granddaughter, Taylor Foxhall, all of East Rochester, N.Y.; and a sister and brother-in-law, Lois T. and William A. Turner Jr. of Canton.
His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St., Ext., Wallingford, Sunday, from 3 to 7 p.m. Funeral services and interment in Pine Grove Cemetery in Ansonia, will be private. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be sent to the Connecticut Hospice, 61 Burban Drive, Branford, CT 06405, or to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 188, North Haven, CT 06473.
