MILLARD LADD SR.
WALLINGFORD — Millard Ladd Sr., 98, of the Masonic Geriatric Healthcare Center, formerly of 79 Cheshire Road, died Monday, July 20, 1998. He was the husband of the late Delia Johnson Ladd.
He was born in Stratford, May 12, 1900, a son of the late Frank and Ethel Bacon Ladd. Until his retirement, he was machinist at Winchester Repeating Arms. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and Compass Lodge 9 AF&AM, both of Wallingford.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Millard Ladd Jr. and Mary Ann Ladd of Meriden; and a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Peter Homestead of Wallingford; four grandchildren, Richard Homestead, Robert Ladd, Kristen Rosenberry and Dawn Ladd; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Masonic Home Chapel, Masonic Ave., Wallingford. Burial will be at In Memoriam Cemetery, Wallingford.
If friends so desire, gifts in his memory may be made to the Masonic Charity Foundation, P.O. Box 70, Wallingford, CT 06492, or the Connecticut Hospice, 61 Burban Drive, Branford, CT 06405.
The B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm St., Wallingford, is in charge of arrangements.

CARL E. PETERS
MERIDEN — Carl Earlon Peters, 67, of 237 Gracey Ave., died Tuesday, July 21, 1998, at Southington Care Center. He was the husband of Roberta Lincavicks Peters.
Born March 27, 1931, in Merrill, Maine, son of the late Frank and Mary Splan Peters, he was a 40-year resident of Meriden. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and he worked for J&L Tool in Wallingford until retiring this year. Prior to his retirement, Carl worked for many years in the printing business, working at the Crosier and Domanell Printing Companies.
Besides his wife, Roberta, he leaves two sons and a daughter-in-law, Frank and Emma Peters and Brian Peters, all of Wallingford; a grandson, James and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters and four brothers.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 23, 1998, with a Mass of Christian burial at St. Stanislaus Church in Meriden at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in the State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown. Friends and family may call at Plantsville Memorial Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville, on Wednesday , July 22, from 5 to 7 p.m.

STANLEY SLOMKOWSKI
MIDDLEFIELD — Stanley P. Slomkowski, 91, of Laurel Brook Road, Middlefield, husband of the late Mary T. (Bystrek) Slomkowski, died Tuesday, July 21, 1998, at Middlesex Convalescent Center.
Prior to his retirement, he was a self-employed dairy farmer and later a custodian for Vinal Regional Technical School.
He is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Stanley J. and Flora Slomkowski, Walter and Judy Slomkowski, Edward and Gerry Slomkowski, all of Middlefield, and Thomas Slomkowski of Meriden; a daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and Robert Manning of Boston; a brother, Alex Slomkowski of Meriden; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Leon Slomkowski.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 9:15 a.m. from the Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver Street, Middletown, followed by a 10 a.m. funeral liturgy in St. Mary Church, Middletown. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the Biega Funeral Home Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Drive, Wallingford, CT 06492.

HENRY V. GODEK
MERIDEN — Henry Victor Godek, 73, husband of Leona (Kosienski) Godek, passed away Tuesday July 21, 1998, at his lifelong home in South Meriden.
He was born in Claremont, N.H., Oct. 3, 1924, and was the son of the late Alfred Godek and Apolonia (Lapouska) Godek Czerwronka. He moved with his parents and brother to South Meriden in 1931, where they had a dairy farm for several years. After giving up the family dairy farm business, he worked for Modern Homes Construction Co. for several years and then at the Veterans Memorial Hospital, from which he retired.
Besides his beloved wife of 50 years, he is survived by a son, Alfred (Fred) Godek of South Meriden; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Leona (Cookie) and Ken Carpenter of South Meriden, Pat Godek of Hamden, Judy and Frank Cannuli of New Hampshire, and Milly and Philmore Jones of North Carolina; a brother, Edmund (Moose) Godek of Yalesville; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of good friends to cherish his memory.
His funeral will be held Friday at 9:15 a.m. from the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden, and at 10 a.m. in Holy Angels Church for a Mass of Christian burial. Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Relatives and friends may gather at the funeral home Thursday from 3 to 8 p.m. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations in his honor may be made to the Meriden Humane Society, 540 Oregon Road, Meriden, CT 06451.

THERESA OROSZ
WALLINGFORD — Theresa Orosz of Wallingford, died Wednesday, July 22, 1998, in the Brook Hollow Health Care Center, Wallingford, after a long illness.
Funeral services and interment in St. John Cemetery will be private. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext., Wallingford.

MARY R. PARISI
ANSONIA — Mary R. Parisi, 88, beloved and devoted wife of Louis Parisi, of 75 Central St., Ansonia, died Tuesday, July 21, 1998, at Connecticut Hospice in Branford following a short illness.
She was born in Ansonia on July 24, 1909, a daughter of the late Matthew and Michelina Daniele Gabriel. She had been a resident of Ansonia for the last 20 years, having prior lived in New Haven. A homemaker, she had been a communicant of the Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia and a member of the Ansonia and Derby senior centers.
Besides her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Michelina Alfone of North Haven, Linda Shorter and Lola Gaj, both of Meriden; three sisters, Esther Julianelle of New Haven, Ann J. Ceremano of Ansonia and Rose Pascale of Prospect; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by five brothers, Louis, Joseph, John, Vincent and Angelo Gabriel; and three sisters, Antoinette Slomenski, Louise D' Antuono and Millie Milardo.
Her funeral will be held 10:15 a.m. Saturday from the Spinelli-Malerba Funeral Home, 62 Beaver St., Ansonia, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Peter's Cemetery in Derby. Visiting hours will be held Frriday evening from 4 to 7 p.m.

ROBERT S. HALL
SOUTHINGTON — Robert S. Hall, 82, of Parkview Drive, in the Plantsville section of Southington, died Wednesday, July 22, 1998, at Bradley Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Violet Harvey Hall.
Born Aug. 30, 1915, in New Haven, he was the son of the late Dexter and Hattie Stiles Hall and was a U.S. Army veteran. Robert retired in 1979 from the Wallingford Taxi Co. and he had formerly worked at Stanley Tools.
He is survived by two sons, Michael and George Hall of Southington; and a brother, John Hall of Florida.
Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Plantsville Memorial Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

BENJAMIN L. PILLA
WALLINGFORD — Benjamin L. Pilla, 82, of North Street, died Thursday, July 23, 1998, at Veterans Memorial Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of 54 years of Lillian M. Ceragioli Pilla.
Mr. Pilla was born in New York City, March 30, 1916, a son of the late Benjamin and Florence Riccio Pilla Cavalieri, and had been a Wallingford resident for the past 70 years. He was a 1934 graduate of Lyman Hall High School, and had attended the University of Connecticut and the University of Hartford. He had been a production manager and foreman for several area companies, and retired in 1978 as production manager of Dynatron Inc. of Wallingford. He was U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II, and was a parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Church.
Besides his beloved wife, Lillian, he is survived by his sister, Betty Lembo of Long Island, N.Y.; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Mary J. Pilla, and his three brothers, Guy T. Pilla Sr., Angelo P. Pilla, and Salvatore Pilla.
His family will receive relatives and friends at the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext., Wallingford, Friday from 4 until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:15 a.m. when the funeral cortege will proceed from the Wallingford Funeral Home to Most Holy Trinity Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at noon. Interment, with military honors, will be in St. John Cemetery, Wallingford.

DOMINICK TORTORELLA
MERIDEN — Dominick Tortorella, 80, husband of Helen Erdley Tortorella, of 49 Dewey Ave., died Thursday, July 23, 1998, in the Miller Memorial Community, after a brief illness.
He was born in Saugatuck, April 27, 1918, a son of the late Antonio and Lucrecia Moto Tortorella. He was a resident of Meriden for many years. He retired from the New Departure Division of General Motors in 1980, after 35 years of employment. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
Besides his wife, he is survived by seven children, four daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Richard Weronik of Meriden, Phyllis and Arthur Falcigno of Wallingford, Sharon and Joseph Adkins of Middletown, and Joanne and John Polick of Meriden; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Donald Tortorella of Wallingford, Anthony Tortorella, and Gerald and Marilyn Tortorella, all of Meriden; ten grandchildren, Michael, Steven and Robert Weronik, Christopher Falcigno, Carey Ann Timek, Jodi Polick, and Andrew, Jeffrey, Thomas and Daniel Tortorella; five great-grandchildren, Christina, Dominick, and Stephanie Weronik, and Kay Leigh and Tyler Timek; three sisters, Helen Misinonile, Betty Schiavone and Mary Peluso, all of Connecticut; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by five brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 25, 1998, beginning at 8:15 a.m. in the Smith-Ruzzo Funeral Home, 226 W. Main St., with a procession to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church for his 9 a.m. funeral liturgy. He will be buried in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home today from 5 to 8 p.m.
