Anna Anania

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Lawrence Church for Anna Anania, 99, who died Aug. 20, 2003. She was the widow of Carlo Anania.

She is survived by a son, Carl Anania of East Haven; daughters, Annette Scialla of West Haven, Susan Coppola of East Haven and Dorothy Farace of Fl; a sister, Louise Amodio of East Haven; 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister and several brothers.

Burial was in St. Lawrence Cemetery. The Maresca & Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Theodore Francois

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Lawrence Church for Theodore G. Francois III, 19, who died Aug. 21, 2003. He was the son of Mary Mongillo and Theodore G. Francois II of East Haven.

He is survived by a brother, Jacque Francois of East Haven; and his grandparents, Anthony & Mary Urbano Mongillo Sr., and Theodore G. Francois, Sr. all of West Haven. He worked as a camp counselor at West Haven Parks and Recreation and was a 2002 graduate of Notre Dame High School.

Burial was in St. Lawrence Cemetery. The West Haven Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Daniel Fortier

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Paul’s Church for Daniel J. Fortier, 18, of 62 Robart St., who died Aug. 21, 2003. He was the son of Richard G. and Janet Turro Fortier.

He was a 2003 graduate of Notre Dame High School. He is survived by a sister, Sherri Grandori of RI; two brothers, Robert L. Grandori of Milford and Richard W. Fortier of West Haven; and grandparents, Mary Fortier of Derby and William Turro of FL. Burial was in Mt. St. Peter’s Cemetery of Derby.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Notre Dame High School Scholarship Fund in Memory of Daniel J. Fortier, 24 Ricardo St., West Haven CT 06516. The Keenan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Virginia Barden

The Keenan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements for Virginia Baker Barden, of Thill Street, who died June 5, 2004. She was the widow of Patrick Barden.

She is survived by seven children; Patrick Jr., of New Haven, Bob of East Haven, Hiram of Southington, Francis and Thomas of West Haven, Theresa Savinelli and Elizabeth Matuskiewicz of NC; a brother, Raymond Baker of MA; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Hattie Epstein

The Robert E. Shure Funeral Home was in charge of Hattie Epstein, of 17 Flaum Drive, who died June 7, 2004. She was the wife of Joseph Epstein.

Laura Faust

The Colonial Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements for Laura Elizabeth Percy Colebut Faust, 81, of Main St., who died Nov. 16, 2001. She was the widow of Osborne Faust. She was a clan mother of the Western Pequot Tribal Nation in New Haven.

She leaves daughters Virginia Cloud Whitworth and Marie Thomas, both of New Haven, Anne Marie Booth, in California, Rebecca Stephenson of VA, and Elizabeth Moye of VA; sons Merritt Banks, in California, Walter H. Banks of New Haven, George P. Banks in TX, Samuel Ephraim Thomas of West Haven, David Thomas of New Haven and Anthony Allen of Waterbury; several sisters and brothers; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Angelo A. Sagnella

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Our Lady of Victory Church for Angelo Alfred “Tony” Sagnella, 84, of 173 Hillside Ave., who died Nov. 20, 2001. He was the husband of Fannie Amendola Sagnella. He was a retired tuber operator for the former Armstrong Rubber Co. He was an Army veteran.

Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Marie Sagnella of Orange; and sisters Eleanor Aritta of Meriden, and Ann Mazzacane and Marie O’Neill of North Branford. He was predeceased by a brother, Jerome Sagnella, Sr.

Memorial gifts may be made to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Drive, Wallingford 06492. Burial was in St. Lawrence Cemetery. The West Haven Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Estella Mucha

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Stanislaus for Estelle Rose Tercyak Mucha, 83, of Lakeview Avenue, who died Nov. 22, 2001. She was the widow of Edward S. Mucha. Before her retirement, she worked in the New Haven school system for 30 years at Fair Haven Junior High and Wilbur Cross High School.

She is survived by a son, Edward A. Mucha of Hamden; brothers Stanley Tercyak of North Branford, Wladyslaw Tercyak, in North Carolina, and Eddie Tercyak of West Haven and three grandsons. She was predeceased by a brother, Teofil “Tootsie” Tercyak.

Monica T. Perry

The Colonial Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements for Monica T. Perry, 51, of Treat Street, who died Nov. 20, 2001. She was a companion aide before her illness.

She is survived by sons L. Stewart of New Haven and Marlan Stewart in Jamaica, West Indies; daughters, Violet Coombs of Brooklyn, NY, Simone East and Kerry Ann Stewart, in Jamaica; six sisters; three brothers and six grandchildren. Burial was in Hamden Plains Cemetery.

Marianne Birkler

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Our Lady of Victory Church for Marianne Birkler, 89, of Morgan Lane, who died Nov. 23, 2001. She was the widow of Lucien Birkler, Sr.

She is survived by a son, Lucien L. Birkler, Jr.; a brother, Anthony Guarino; and sisters Helen Dautrich, Lynn Mazza, Jeanne McFarland, and Gloria Cardillo. She was predeceased by a sister, Rita Ackers. Entombment was in St. Lawrence Garden Mausoleum. The Celentano Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Michael D. Gentile

The Oak Grove Cremation Service was in charge of arrangements for Michael D. Gentile, 88, of Hugo Street, who died Nov. 11, 2001. He was the widower of Bertha Lawrence Gentile.

He leaves sons Wayne Gentile of Orange and Kermit, David and Joseph Gentile of West Haven; daughters Barbara Gentile of Rockville and Susan Creta, Margaret Gentile and Angela Johnson of West Haven; a sister, Sally Gentile in New York; 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by brothers Bill and Louie Gentile and sisters Ann and Betty Gentile.

Harold Tyson

The Weller Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements for Harold Tyson, of 541 Muirfeld Lane, who died Nov. 12, 2001. He was the son of Adele Tyson of West Haven and the late David Tyson.

He is survived by a by a sister, Liann Tyson Cyr of Hamden and three nieces.

Memorial contributions may be made to Congregation Beth El-Keser Israel, 85 Harrison St., New Haven or the Jewish Home for the Aged, 169 Davenport Ave., New Haven. Burial was in Keser Israel Cemetery.

Evelyn M. Davidson

A service was held at First Congregational Church for Evelyn Myers Davidson, 88, of Chestnut St., who died Nov. 8, 2001. She was the widow of George G. Davidson, Sr. Prior to her retirement in 1975, she was a teacher with the Milford school system, having taught kindergarten at Pumpkin Delight and Orchard Hills schools.

She is survived by a son, George G. Davidson Jr. of North Branford; daughters Doris D. Lutters of West Haven and Carol M. Clare of NJ; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, Margaret M. Spor.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Book of Remembrance, First Congregational Church, 2 Church St., West Haven 06516 or to the Masonic Geriatric Health Care Center, 22 Masonic Ave., Wallingford 06492. Burial was in Beaverdale Memorial Cemetery. The West Haven Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Frederic R. Hudson, Jr.

The West Haven Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements for Frederic R. Hudson, Jr., 85, of 200 Elm St., who died Nov. 9, 2001. He was the husband of Barbara Clark Hudson. He was a bank officer for Union Trust, prior to his retirement in 1977. He was an Army veteran.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons Frederic S. Hudson of FL, and William Hudson of West Haven; daughters Patricia Hudson Bocco of West Haven and Kirsten Clark Hudson Higgins of Milford; brothers Donald Hudson of North Haven and Elmwood and John Hudson of FL; and five grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Margaret Whitaker Hudson and a daughter, Barbara Doree Hudson. Burial was private.

Diane M. Dohna

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Our Lady of Victory Church for Diane M. Dohna, 66, of 109 Washington Ave., who died Nov. 9, 2001. Prior to her retirement, she owned Floral Concepts.

Surviving are sons Andrew and Kurt D’Ambrosia of West Haven and Bruce D’Ambrosia of FL; sisters Barbara Fiondella and Patricia Faulkner of East Haven and Wendy Kelly of FL; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery. The Keenan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Esther Allen

The West Haven Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements for Esther Allen, who died Nov. 15, 2001. She is the widow of F. Newton Allen.

She is survived by a daughter, Eleanor Gilbert; and one grandson. All services were private.

Gennaro Gambardella, Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. John Vianney Church for Gennaro ‘Jerry” Gambardella Jr., 19, of 174 Kelsey Ave., who died Nov. 14, 2001. He was the son of Gennaro “Jerry” and Marianne Milano Gambardella of West Haven. He was a student at Hofstra University.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Andrea Gambardella of West Haven; brothers Nico and Tyler Gambardella of West Haven; his paternal grandparents, William and Rose Gambardella of West Haven and his maternal grandparents, Anthony and Martha Milano of Port Charlotte, FL.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Gennaro Gambardella, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o William O’Brien, New Haven Savings Bank, 195 Church St., New Haven 06519. Burial was in St. Lawrence Cemetery. The Iovanne Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Joseph A. Aceto, Sr.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. John Vianney Church for Joseph A. Aceto Sr., 82, of 35 Thomas St., who died Nov. 16, 2001. He was the husband of Angelina Savo Aceto. He was an electrical contractor and formerly owned the Aceto Electric Co. Prior to that he was an electrician at the former Savin Rock Amusement Park for many years.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Jospeh A. Aceto Jr. of West Haven; a daughter, Maria P. Sawicki of West Haven; brothers Peter Aceto of West Haven and Louis Aceto of New Haven; sisters Emma Gambardella of New haven and Ann Marrette of West Haven and two grandchildren. A sister, Theresa Zito predeceased him. Burial was in All Saints Cemetery. The Keenan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
