Russell H. Wolven
BREA, Calif. - Russell (Rusty) H. Wolven, 41, of Brea, Calif., died May 10, 1999. He lived in Wallingford most of his life until moving to California 18 years ago. Rusty especially enjoyed the nature of California, becoming very active in fishing, surfing, hiking and camping.
Russ leaves his daughter, Jennifer Wolven; his mother Renee Olson of Wallingford; his father Russell G. Wolven of Las Vegas; two sisters, Pamela Sandler of Meriden and Susan Wolven of Mayfield Village, Ohio; two brothers, Mark Wolven of San Diego and Michael Wolven of Pullman, Washington ; and three nieces and one nephew, and many friends.
A memorial service will be held on May 23, 1999, at 4 p.m. at the First Methodist Church, 159 E. Main St., Meriden.
Merle W. Ackert III
PORTLAND - Merle "Dolph" W. Ackert III, of Summer Street, died Friday at the Middlesex Hospital.
He was born in Jan. 14, 1977, in Middletown, son of Merle "Chick" Ackert of Middletown and Helen (Aubin) Ackert of Portland. He loved fishing, bikes, the 49ers, Yanks, UConn, big noisy cars, snowboarding, family reunions, and his special companion, "Skeeter," his unique dog.
Besides his parents he is survived by a son, Aryan W. Erickson Ackert; a daughter, Kayla Elizabeth Ackert; two brothers, Jim Russo and Bill Russo, both of Portland; two sisters, Jackie Downes of Durham and Saundra Brown of Jacksonville, N.C.; many nephews and nieces, cousins and a special friend, Tina; as well as many aunts and uncles.
Services will be held Monday at 7 p.m. at the Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown, with the Rev. Robert Fell officiating. Funeral services in Danby Congregational Church, Danby, Vt., will be held Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in Scottsville Cemetery, Danby. Friends may call at the Biega Funeral Home Monday from 5 to 7 p.m.
Augusta Danio
WALLINGFORD - Augusta "Gussie" Valenti Danio, 88, of Welcome Street, beloved wife of the late Fermino "Primo" Danio, died Saturday, April 17, 1999, at MidState Medical Center.
Mrs. Danio was born in Wallingford, Dec. 2, 1910, a daughter of the late John and Josephine DelRosso Valenti, and was a lifelong resident here. She had been employed at the former Stanley-Judd Co. for many years until her retirement, and was a parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Church.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Corinne M. and Arthur C. Jones Jr. of Wallingford; her son and daughter-in-law, Richard J. and Dolores A. Danio of Yalesville; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her two sisters, Mary Valenti and Margaret Bridgett.
Her family will receive relatives and friends at the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext., Wallingford, Tuesday morning from 9 to 10 a.m., when a funeral services will be held at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery.
Evelyn F. Frascatore
SOUTHINGTON - Evelyn F. (McKenney) Frascatore, 79, of 926 Woodruff St., died Thursday, April 15, 1999, at Bradley Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of Duke Frascatore.
Born April 5, 1920, in Farmington, daughter of the late Walter and Esther (Phelps) McKenney. She was a parishioner of St. Dominic Church.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Shirley Danehy of New Britain; a son, Robert Frascatore of Dolgeville, N.Y.; a sister, Bernice Forbes of Southington; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Diane Ward.
The funeral will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Dominic Church. Entombment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery
in New Britain. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. Donations may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 410, Wallingford, CT 06492.
Thelma Fuhr
WALLINGFORD - Thelma Oberempt Fuhr, 79, of Jones Road, Wallingford, formerly of West Haven, died Thursday, April 15, 1999, in the University of Connecticut Health Center, in Farmington. She was the wife of the late William T. Fuhr Sr.
Her family will receive relatives and friends in the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext., Wallingford, Sunday (TODAY) from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. from the Wallingford Funeral Home, when the funeral cortege will proceed to Our Lady of Fatima Church for a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery, North Haven. Daniel A. Noonan
WEST HARTFORD - Daniel A. Noonan, 51, passed away suddenly on Friday, April 16, 1999, of a massive heart attack.
He was born in Key West, Fla., in 1947 to the late Matthew A. Noonan and Alice Flynn Noonan, both of Meriden. He was a 1968 graduate of Assumption College in Worcester, Mass., and was awarded a master's degree from Boston University. He was a four-year veteran of the U.S. Army. A longtime resident of West Hartford, Dan was a very successful executive search consultant, operating under the name Noonan Associates. Dan was an avid golfer and tennis player and was a member of the Hopmeadow Country Club in Simsbury. In earlier years, Dan enthusiastically pursued a variety of sports, including basketball, sailing and skiing. A renowned raconteur with a quick wit, Dan was active in the West Hartford Lions Club, where he served as tail twister and membership chairman. Dan was an accomplished painter; his paintings were prized by his family when he presented them as gifts. He worshiped at the Unitarian Universalist Society of Hartford.
He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 25 years, Christine Clocher, daughter of Al and Caroline Clocher of Daytona, Fla.; a sister, Mary Noonan Cortright, and her husband, Edward Cortright, of Meriden; three brothers, Stephen M. Noonan and his wife, Patricia Coolidge, of Stratton, Vt., Bernard M. Noonan of Middlefield, and Patrick M. Noonan and his wife, Denise Doyle, of Madison; two nephews, Brendan and Justin Noonan of Meriden; and four nieces, Colleen, Meghan, Tara and Shannon Noonan of Madison. Dan was part of a close-knit extended family and also leaves numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 20, 1999, at 10 a.m. at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, with the Rev. Stephen Kendrick officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery, Meriden. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Tuesday morning prior to services, from 9:30 to 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Camp Courant, c/o The Hartford Courant, 285 Broad St., Hartford, CT 06115.
Joseph M. Sepko
SOUTHINGTON - Joseph M. Sepko passed away April 16, 1999, after a short illness.
Born Dec. 23, 1923, in Southington, son of the late Joseph and Agnes Sepko. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper trainee. Mr. Sepko was employed by David Transportation Co. for many years as a truck driver hauling steel beams for many of the surrounding highways and buildings. He was also employed as a security guard at Southington High School. Mr. Sepko was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church and a past member of the Holy Name Society.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Teresa (Babinetz) Sepko; as well as his six children, Peter Sepko and his wife, Jaye, Christine Matteo and her husband, Carmen, Joseph Sepko and Martin Sepko, all of Southington, Madeline Young of West Hartland, and Jane Frink and her husband, Rand, of West Kendall, Fla.; a brother, Vincent Sepko of Southington; nine grandchildren, Alissa, Delaina, Paula, Brandon, Corryn, Colin, Jeffrey, Matthew and Lindsey; many special nieces and nephews; and his lifelong, good neighbors, the Klepacki family.
The funeral will be held Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., to the Immaculate Conception Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the West School Community and Alumni Association, c/o Melanie Zissopoulos, P.O. Box 525, Southington, CT 06489. This is the historic one-room schoolhouse on West Street that Mr. Sepko attended as a child and later tended as custodian. Donations will be used for the upkeep of the school and to fund an annual scholarship or a charity of the donor's choice.
Mildred J. Trudel
MERIDEN - Mildred J. Trudel, 92, of 51 Prescott St., wife of the late Theodore J. Trudel, died Friday evening, April 16, 1999, at her home.
She was born June 19, 1906, in Meriden and was the daughter of the late Antoinette (Bober) Dowik Smieszek and Peter Dowik. Mrs. Trudel was a lifelong resident of Meriden and was educated in local schools. She retired from the International Silver Co. after 30 years of service. She was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church and was an active member for nine years with the St. Stanislaus Prayerline.
Mrs. Trudel is survived by a brother, Walter J. Turek of Meriden; three nieces, Harriet Bell, Karen Reichenecker and Claire Gadaree; a nephew, Ronald Smith; two great-nieces, Linda Bell and Laurie Bell; two great-nephews, Allen and Michael Bell; a great-great-niece, Jennifer Bell; and a great-great-nephew, Thomas Smith. She was predeceased by three sisters, Mae Smith, Grace Nolan and Bridgette Dowik, and a brother, Andrew Dowik.
Her funeral will be held, Tuesday, April 20, 1999, at 10 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Church for a Mass of Christian burial. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden, on Tuesday morning from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Stanislaus Church, 82 Akron St., Meriden, CT 06450.
Eleanor Waldron
MERIDEN - Eleanor Doucette Waldron, 83, formerly of Fairfax Avenue, died Friday, April 16, 1999, at the Alzheimer's Resource Center in Southington. She was the beloved wife of the late Patrick F. Waldron Jr.
Her family will receive relatives and friends at the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 M. Main St. Ext., Wallingford, Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., when the funeral cortege will proceed to St. Joseph Church, West Main Street, Meriden, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Dorothy Adams
SOUTHINGTON - Dorothy Ellison Adams, 73, of Bellview Avenue, died Sunday, March 21, 1999, at Bradley Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of William H. Adams.
Born Feb. 3, 1926, in Milford, Conn., the daughter of the late Walter and Margaret (Clark) Ellison, Dorothy had been a Southington resident for over 40 years. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, William H. Jr. and Laurie Adams of Southington and her daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Michael Bucken of Milford, Mass.; and two grandchildren, Caitlin and Kevin Bucken.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Plantsville Memorial Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville. Burial will follow in South End Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday (tomorrow) from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Donations in memory of Dorothy may be made to the Southington Lions Club Eye Fund, P.O. Box 457, Southington, CT 06489.
John N. Brusie
MADISON - John N. "Ves" Brusie, 95, of 20 Soundview Ave., formerly of Meriden, husband of the late Helen Martin Brusie, died Sunday morning at Westfield Care & Rehab Center after a brief illness.
Born in Virginia on Sept. 22, 1903, the son of the late Peter and Concetta Cuccio Barucci, he had resided in Meriden for most of his life prior to moving to Madison some 12 years ago. Mr. Brusie owned and operated the Meriden Battery Service in downtown Meriden for over 42 years, retiring in 1968. He was a two-term grand knight of the Silver City Council Knights of Columbus #2 and an honorary life member. He was past faithful navigator Fr. McGivney Assembly 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and a past district deputy for two years. Mr. Brusie was a charter member of the Unison Club of Meriden and a life member, in addition to being a member of the Meriden Lions Club for over 52 years. He was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church, Meriden.
He is survived by a sister, Josephine Tino of Stratford; two grandchildren, Arthur T. Connor, III of Madison and Rosemary Connor of Washington , D.C.; a son-in-law, Arthur T. Connor, Jr. of Madison; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Kathleen B. Connor of Madison.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 24, 1999, at 10:30 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, and at 11 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Meriden.
