George H. Cossette Jr.
MERIDEN - George H. Cossette Jr., 72, husband of Bernice Wolkowicz Cossette, died on Saturday, Feb. 20, 1999, in St. Francis Hospital in Hartford following a lengthy illness.
Born in Meriden, April 16, 1926, he was the son of the late George H. and Martha Grotzke Cossette. Mr. Cossette was a lifelong Meriden resident and had attended Meriden schools. He was employed by the International Silver Co. for 44 years, retiring in 1989. Mr. Cossette was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army. He was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church.
Besides his wife, Bernice, he is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Mark G. and Deborah Cossette of Plantsville, Jeffrey W. and Susan Cossette of Wallingford and Thomas J. and Dara Cossette of Wallingford; nine grandchildren, Joshua, BJ, Ashley, Thomas Jr., Danielle, Evan, Julie, Natalie, and Austin; a brother, Robert Cossette Sr. of Meriden; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Howard Cossette.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., and at 10 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Church. Burial, with military honors, will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday (TODAY) from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Stanislaus Church, 82 Akron St., Meriden, CT 06450.

Shirley D'Angelo
SOUTHINGTON - Shirley (Beck) D'Angelo, 70, of 434 Quarry Road, Wells, Maine, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, died from complications of cancer Saturday, Feb. 20, 1999, at the Maine Medical Center.
She was born in Bristol, daughter of the late Lester and Mildred (King) Beck. She was raised in Southampton, N.Y., and later in Plantsville. She was a longtime resident of Southington and actively supported her husband's coaching career at Southington High School and at Kennebunk High School after they retired and moved to Maine in 1985. Mrs. D'Angelo was a homemaker and medical office assistant, whose special interests included gardening, painting, reading and needlework, and a love of the outdoors, particularly the Maine seacoast. She loved caring for her grandchildren and was a parishioner of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband, Dominic D'Angelo; her daughter, Susan D. Sullivan and son-in-law, Roger of Wells, Maine; her son, Robert D'Angelo and daughter-in-law, Teri of Granby; her brother, Albert Beck and sister-in-law, Linda of Bristol; and her brother-in-law, Alphonse D'Angelo of Southington; five grandchildren, Robert Sullivan and wife, Erica of Kennebunk, Maine, Christopher Sullivan of Wells, Maine, Michael, Matthew and Nicole D'Angelo of Granby; a great-grandchild, Stephanie Sullivan of Kennebunk, Maine; and uncles, Fred King of Hamden and Edward King of Asheville, N.C.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. to St. Thomas Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. If desired, contributions may be made in her memory to the St. Mary's Church Food Pantry Program, Eldredge Road, Wells, ME 04090.

Katherine C. Murphy
MERIDEN - Katherine C. Murphy, 90, a resident of the Meriden Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, wife of the late Edward J. Murphy, died Saturday night, Feb. 20, 1999, in the MidState Medical Center after a brief illness.
She was born in Meriden, April 7, 1908, a daughter of the late Frank and Martha Bucholz Lirot Sr. She was a lifelong resident. She retired in 1987 from the Meriden Molded Plastic Co. after many years of employment. She was a lifelong parishioner of St. Mary Church.
She is survived by her loving family, a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and David Samsel of Meriden; two grandchildren, Cheryl Amenta and Robert Samsel; a great-grandson, Sebastian Amenta; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her twin sister, Mary Cookson and three brothers, Frank Lirot Jr., August Lirot and John Lirot.
Her funeral services will begin Tuesday morning, Feb. 23, 1999, with a visiting hour at 9:30 a.m. in the Smith-Ruzzo Funeral Home, 226 West Main St., with her Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary Church. She will be interred with her husband in St. Boniface Cemetery. Mrs. Murphy felt close to the St. Mary Church. Eleanor M. Sarafin
MERIDEN - Eleanor M. Sarafin, 93, of 292 Thorpe Ave., wife of the late Frank Sarafin, died Saturday, Feb. 20, 1999, at the MidState Medical Center in Meriden.
She was born Oct. 11, 1905, in Middletown and was the daughter of the late John and Stacia (Gilelen) Kulmacz. Mrs. Sarafin was a longtime resident of Meriden and was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church. She was a member of the Meriden Senior Citizens Center and the St. Stanislaus Ladies Guild and Senior Sunshine Club.
She leaves a daughter and son-in-law, Sylvia and Edward Ozycz of Meriden; three grandchildren, Andrea Maxim, Michael and Daniel Ozycz; and three great-grandchildren, Michael Maxim, Zachary and William Ozycz; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Helen Zywno and Tess Kowlasinski.
Her funeral will be held Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1999, at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Church for a Mass of Christian burial, followed by the committal service in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass.

Cristina Aldi
SOUTHINGTON - Cristina (DellaRatta) Aldi, 88, of 257 West Center St., died April 8, 1999, at Bradley Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Angelo Vincenzo Aldi. Born July 31, 1910, in Duggenta, Italy daughter of the late Joseph and Philomena DellaRatta. She was a parishioner of St. Thomas Church.
She is survived by two sons, Angelo Aldi of Arezzo, Italy, Joseph Aldi and daughter-in-law, Pamela of Southington; two daughters, Rosa Ingriselli and son-in-law Domenic of Southington, Maria Morello and son-in-law, Sebastiano of Plantsville; three sisters, Concetta, Maria and Angelina all of Italy; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by three brothers, Antonio, Joseph and Vincenzo.
The funeral will be held Saturday at 9:15 a.m. from the Della Vecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., to St. Thomas Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday (TODAY) from 6 to 9 p.m.

John J. Buza
WALLINGFORD - John J. Buza, born September 29, 1924, passed away Jan. 2, 1999, in Coeur D' Alene, Idaho. There will be a graveside service on Monday, April 12, at 10 a.m. in Memoriam Cemetery. Friends and relatives are welcome. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wallingford, CT 06492.

Bernice Minkwitz
MERIDEN - Bernice White Minkwitz, 87, formerly of 33 Fourth St., Meriden, died Thursday, April 8, 1999, at Westfield Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late Arthur L. Minkwitz.
She was born Sept. 19, 1911 in Portland, Conn., the daughter of the late Charles and Yarda Backman White. She was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church and active with the Women's League of the church.
She is survived by three daughters, Judith Fordiani of Laguna Niguel, Calif., Susan Anderson of Wallingford and Betsy Hendrickson of Wallingford; one son, Robert A. Minkwitz of Meriden; two sisters, Patricia Makowsky of Higganum, Conn., and Nancy Goodrich of Chaplin, Conn; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Beecher and Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. The Rev. Alon White will officiate. Relatives and friends may call one hour prior to the services. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. If desired, contributions in Mrs. Minkwitz' memory may be made to the American Lung Association, 45 Ash St., East Hartford, CT 06108-3272.

Agnes L. Murphy
MERIDEN - Agnes L. Murphy, 82, of 360 Broad St., wife of the late Henry B. Murphy, died on Wednesday, April 7, 1999, at Miller Memorial Health Care Center in Meriden after a lengthy illness. Born in West Hartford, on June 4, 1916, she was the daughter of the late David and Mary (Nolan) Lawler. She attended schools in Hartford and had lived in Meriden for most of her life. Mrs. Murphy worked in the cafeteria of Israel Putnam School in Meriden and she was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church.
Mrs. Murphy is survived by: four sons and daughters-in-law, David and Barbara Murphy of East Hampton, William and Sandra Murphy of East Hampton, Daniel and Donna Murphy of Old Saybrook, and Kerry and Denise Murphy of Meriden; 12 grandchildren, Amy MacConnell and her husband, David of Colchester, Allison Tokarz and her husband, William of Marlborough, Susan Murphy of East Hampton, Colleen Murphy of North Haven, Bonnie Narducci and her husband Paul of Wallingford, Shannon Murphy of Meriden, Annie, Jodie, and William Murphy of East Hampton, and Michael, Erin and Daniel Murphy of Meriden; two great-grandchildren, Patrick and Lauren MacConnell; one sister, Alice Dennis of Florida; one brother, James Lawler of Colorado; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Leonard and David, and by two sisters, Dorothy and Rose.
The funeral will be held on Saturday at 8:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, and at 9 a.m. in St. Joseph Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday (TODAY) from 5 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Miller Memorial Health Care Center, 360 Broad St., Meriden, CT 06450. A Celebration of Life with a Mass will take place at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 26, 1999, at the Miller Memorial Community. Guests are welcome!

Josephine Nowakowski
MERIDEN - Josephine Nowakowski, wife of the late Frank J. Nowakowski, of Carter Avenue, died Wednesday, April 7, 1999, at the Connecticut Baptist Home in Meriden. Born in Meriden, she was the daughter of the late John and Annie Jedynak Tabian and a life-long resident of Meriden. She was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church and a member if its Ladies Guild.
She is survived by two sons, Paul Nowakowski and Lawrence Nowakowski both of Meriden; a daughter, and her finance, Andrea Nowakowski and David Martanick both of Meriden; a sister, Stella Watts of Meriden; and a granddaughter, Cinthia Nowakowski. She was predeceased by three sisters, Katherine Bobacz, Helen Kotch and Mary Tabian.
Her funeral will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. from the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad Street, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church. Burial will be at St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday (TODAY) from 4 to 8 p.m. The family requests donations be made to St. Stanislaus Church, 82 Akron St,. Meriden, CT, or Connecticut Baptist Home, 292 Thorpe Ave., Meriden, CT 06450.

Katherine Pallis
TOLLAND - Katherine (Young) Pallis, 58, of Tolland, wife of Thomas J. Pallis, died Wednesday, April 7, 1999, at home. She was born in Meriden daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine Young, and was a Tolland resident for 35 years. She was a foster, mother to many children for 33 years.
Besides her husband, whom she married in 1961, she is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph and Patricia Pallis of Tolland, William and Kimberly Pallis of Farmington, Christopher Pallis of Tolland; her daughters and sons-in-law, Theresa and Paul Zell of Manchester, Karen and Lee Hareld of Somers; her brothers, Joseph P. Young of Meriden, John A. Young of Wallingford; her sisters, Maureen Schappert, Roseann Gardon both of Meriden; her grandchildren, Jonathan, Margaret, Samuel, Sarah, Katelyn; and many nieces , nephews and friends. She was predeceased by a brother, Frances D. Young.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 9 a.m. from the Tolland Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Merrow Road, (Rte. 195) Tolland with a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in St. Matthew's Church. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday (TODAY) from 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to North Central Hospice, 8 Keynote Drive, Vernon, CT 06066.

Joseph G. Welshock
MERIDEN - Joseph G. Welshock, 57, husband of Mary Doran Welshock, died unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, April 7, 1999. Born in Middletown, on Feb. 22, 1942, he was the son of the late Joseph and Julia Kopera Welshock and was a graduate of Nathan Hale Ray High School in Moodus. He lived in Meriden for the past nine years and has been employed by Plainville Electrical Products Co., of Bristol for the last nine years.
Besides his wife Mary he is survived by, and was the loving father to his daughters, Diana Welshock of Meriden and Susan Welshock of Niantic, Conn.; a granddaughter, Crystal Huntoon; a brother Edward Welshock of Mystic. He is also survived by his loyal companions, Jasmin, Webster and Molly.
Friends may call at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden, an Saturday, April 10, from 2 to 4 p.m. The funeral service and burial will be private.
