Ernest F. Hall
BERLIN - Ernest F. "Ernie" Hall, 86, formerly of High Road, Kensington, died Friday, April 9, 1999, at New Britain General Hospital. He was the husband of the late Renee (Peterson) Hall, who died in 1989.
He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas A. and Nancy Hall of New Britain, J. David and Carol Hall of Southington, and Timothy E. and Carolyn Hall of Rockville, Md.; a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy H. and James Howse of Waterbury; two sisters, Louise Sengle of New Britain and Marion E. Morrell of West Hartford; seven grandchildren, Wendy Hall, Laurie Lanteri, Aaron Hall, Patricia Hall, Erin Hall, Seth Hall and Alyssa Hall; three great-grandchildren, Jennifer Walton, Bryan Bruce and Matthew Bruce; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Kensington Congregational Church. Burial will be in West Lane Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday from 5 to 9 p.m. at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main St., New Britain. Memorial donations may be made to the Kensington Congregational Church, 312 Percival Ave., Kensington, CT 06037, or to the Berlin Lions Club for Lions Eye Research, P.O. Box 23, Berlin, CT 06037.

Justa Medina
MERIDEN - Justa Medina, 55, of 169 Springdale Ave., died Saturday, April 10, 1999, after a long illness. She was the wife of Generosa Medina.
She was born June 2, 1943, in Vega Alta, Puerto Rico, the daughter of the late Eleuterio and Rufina Diaz Cruz and had been a resident of Meriden for 14 years.
Besides her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Yolanda Vargas of Meriden, Maria Nieves of Meriden and Gladys Vargas of Richmond, Va.; four sons, Jose Medina, Wilfredo Medina, David Medina and William Medina, all of Meriden; four sisters; five brothers; 19 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Funeral services and calling hours will be held Monday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Iglesia Hermanos Unidos En Cristo Church, 410 Colony St., Meriden. Burial will be in Puerto Rico. Arrangements are under the direction of the Beecher and Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden, CT.

Anna Smolarczyk
MERIDEN - Anna Smolarczyk, 71, of 140 Crown St., wife of the late John Smolarczyk, died Thursday, April 8, 1999, at the Coccomo Memorial Health Care Center.
She was born April 10, 1927, in Krakow, Poland. Mrs. Smolarczyk had resided in Meriden since 1951. She was employed by Unimax Switch in Wallingford until her retirement in 1986 and was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church and a member of its St. Theresa Society.
She leaves two daughters, Elizabeth Chase of Meriden and Theresa Tencza of Spring Hill, Fla.; a son, John Smolarczyk of Meriden; five grandchildren; a brother, Walter Kasprzyk of Seattle, Wash.; a sister, Stacia in Poland; and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held Monday at 9 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Church followed by the burial in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden on Monday morning from 7:45 a.m. until the time of the Mass.

Antonio Antolini
MERIDEN - Antonio Carlos "Tony" Antolini, 36, of 946 Broad St., died Monday, May 10, 1999, in Meriden. Born in Meriden on March 5, 1963, he was the son of Rocco Antolini and Magda Parrilla Rizza. He was a graduate of Platt High School and a lifelong resident. Mr. Antolini was a self-employed painter and estimator and he was a member of Faith Living Church in Southington.
Besides his parents and stepparents, Ernest Rizza and Florence Antolini, he is survived by two daughters, Alysia Brook and Alexandra Magda, both of Meriden; twin sons, Tony and Rocky of Meriden; one sister and brother-in-law, Dawn and Anthony Willette of Meriden; his fiancée, Muriel Roux of New Britain; grandparents, Margarita and Graciniano Parrilla of Meriden and Antonio Antolini of Meriden; several aunts, uncles, one niece and one nephew. He was predeceased by his grandmother, Mary Antolini.
The funeral will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St. Meriden, with pastor Bryan Marcoux officiating. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday (TODAY) from 4 to 8 p.m. Should friends desire, contributions in his memory may be made to the Antolini Children Fund, c/o Meriden Connecticut School Employees Credit Union, 285 Broad St., Meriden, CT 06450.

Lionel E. Baillargeon
MERIDEN - Lionel E. Baillargeon, 79, formerly of 186 Sherman Ave., husband of the late Sophie (Terapane) Baillargeon died Monday, May 10, 1999, at the Westfield Care and Rehabilitation Center. Born Feb. 19, 1920, in Meriden, he was the son of the late Wilfred and Alice (LaQuerre) Baillargeon. Mr. Baillargeon was a lifelong resident of Meriden and was educated in local schools. He was employed for 10 years at the New Departure Hyatt Division of General Motors and then for the Connecticut U.A. Local 777 Plumbers and Pipefitters and received his 50 year certificate in 1996. He was a World War II veteran, serving with the U.S. Army with the U.S. Cavalry and the Radio Mechanics and also with the 331st received the American Defense Ribbon, American Theatre Ribbon and the Victory Medal. Mr. Baillargeon was a parishioner of St. Laurent Church, a member of the American Legion Post No. 45 and the Franco American Club.
He is survived by a son, Robert Baillargeon of Meriden; and three daughters, Maryann Chenoweth of Meriden, Donna Morasutti of Cheshire and Denise Baillargeon of Florida, one brother, Wilfred Baillargeon Jr., of Meriden; and nine grandchildren, Stephen Giguere, Michele Cronin, Daniel Baillargeon, Joey, Jaclyn and Taylor Morasutti, Alyssa, Cassandra, Fallon and Michael Aldi; a great-granddaughter, Miranda Cronin and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Irene Luca.
A military funeral will be held on Saturday, May 15, 1999, at 9:15 a.m. from the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden, followed by a Mass of Christian burial in St. Laurent Church at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in the State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. The family wishes in lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Anthony J. Cuccaro
MERIDEN - Anthony J. Cuccaro Sr., 62, of 206 Highland Ave., husband of Louise (Gionfriddo) Cuccaro, departed this life at home surrounded by loving family on Monday, May 10, 1999, after a long and courageous battle with a lengthy illness. Born in Meriden, on March 24, 1937, he was the son of Luigina "Jean" Auguri of Meriden and the late James Cuccaro, and was a lifelong resident. He attended St. Rose of Lima Parochial School, Meriden High School and Post College. Mr. Cuccaro was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in Meriden. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served with the U.S. Marine Corps. Mr. Cuccaro was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church and a member of the DAV Chapter 6.
Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by: two daughters and sons-in-law, Christina and James Tyrrell of Meriden and Annemarie and Luis Perez of Meriden; one son and daughter-in-law, Anthony Jr., and Brenda Cuccaro of Meriden; four grandchildren, Tessa, James, Jillian Tyrrell and Jake Anthony Cuccaro; one sister, Norma Gionfriddo of Middlefield; one brother, James Cuccaro Jr., of Meriden and by several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held on Friday at 9:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., and at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Church. Burial with military honors will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Brain Tumor Society, 84 Seattle St., Boston, MA 02134-1245.

Mildred J. Hlavacek
STRATFORD - Mildred J. Hlavacek, 84, of Stratford, died Monday, May 10, 1999, in St. Vincents Medical Center. Born in Bridgeport. Mrs. Hlavacek lived most of her life in Stratford. She was the wife of the late Edwin Hlavacek.
She is survived by: two sons, James J. Hlavacek and his wife Margaret Beecher Hlavacek of Torrington and Robert A. Hlavacek of Stratford and four grandchildren.

Aurore Julien
WALLINGFORD - Aurore Lambert Julien, 97, of Brownstone Road, Yalesville section of Wallingford, died Monday, May 10, 1999, at Harbor Health Care Center in Middletown. She was the wife of the late Oscar Julien. Born in Woonsocket, R.I., Aug. 21, 1901, a daughter of the late Charles E. and Cordelia A. Rabideau Lambert she had resides in Woonsocket for many years until moving to Yalesville 30 years ago, were she was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church. She had been employed at the Woonsocket Worsted Co. for over 40 years until her retirement.
She is survived by a daughter, Cecile R. Julien with whom she resided in Yalesville; a son, Armand Julien of Woonsocket; four grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, four sisters, Regina Cote of New York, Rhea LaFond of West Haven, Eva Parenteau and Rita Berube both of Woonsocket; two brothers, Hector Lambert and Armand Lambert of North Smithfield, R.I., and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sons, Herve Julien and Roland Julien; two sisters, Florida Lambert and Yvonne Gladu and a brother Jean Baptiste Lambert.
Her family will receive relatives and friends at the Fournier Funeral Home, 463 S. Main St., Woonsocket, Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 9 a.m. from the Fournier Funeral Home, and 10 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, Park Avenue, Woonsocket. Interment will be in Precious Blood Cemetery in Woonsocket. Local arrangements are under the direction of the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wallingford, CT.

Joseph J. Maddalena
SOUTHINGTON - Joseph J. Maddalena, 74, of Summer Street in the Plantsville section of Southington died Tuesday, May 11, 1999, at home. He was the husband of Julie (Klocko) Maddalena. Born Dec. 12, 1924, in New York City, son of the late Antonio and Raffaela (Zappolo) Maddalena, he had been a Southington resident for the past 48 years. Joseph was an U.S. Army veteran. He retired in 1986 from Marlin Rockwell in Plainville and was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church.
Besides his wife Julie, he is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Michael and Marguerite Maddalena, Joseph and Robin Maddalena, and Philip Maddalena, all of Southington; a brother, Cosmo "Gus" Maddalena of Southington; two sisters, Caroline Ciaramella and Philonena Taccariello both of Bristol and six grandchildren, Nicholas, Jamie, Joseph, Brendan, Sara and Philip.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 14, at 9 a.m. at the Plantsville Memorial Funeral Home, 975 South Main St., Plantsville, with a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at Immaculate conception Church. Burial will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Thursday, May 13, from 5 to 8 p.m.

Kenneth I. White
LYME - Kenneth I. White, 81, of 187-3 Blood St., on Rogers Lake, formerly of 68 Arlington St., Meriden, husband of Doris (Marth) White, died Tuesday, May 11, 1999, at Middlesex Hospice in Middletown. Born in Hartford on Oct. 2, 1917, he was the son of the late Ivan T. and M. Grace White of Hartford. Mr. White was employed at International Silver Co. for 35 years and upon retirement moved to Rogers Lake.
Besides his wife, Dorie, he is survived by: one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth M. and Sheila H. White of Meriden; and two granddaughters, Jennifer W. LaBrie and Elizabeth M. White. He was predeceased by a daughter, Judith Lee White, and a sister, Arlene Links.
The funeral will be held on Friday at 9:30 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, and at 10 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church. Interment will be at the family's convenience. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 8 to 9:30 a.m. prior to the Mass. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Middlesex Hospice, c/o Middlesex Hospital, Middletown, CT 06457.

Nicholas A. Anziano
WALLINGFORD - Nicholas A. Anziano, 73, of South Whittlesey Avenue, Wallingford, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 1999, at the MidState Medical Center in Meriden. He was the loving husband of Patricia Slater Anziano.
Born in Wallingford, Aug. 14, 1926, he was a son of the late Philip and Jenny Cusano Anziano and was a lifelong resident. He was employed by the Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corp. in Wallingford for many years until his retirement, a U.S. Navy veteran serving during World War II and an avid fisherman who spent many weekends fishing with his sons. He was a parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Church in Wallingford.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be sorely missed. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Jerry Anziano and Michael Anziano both of Meriden; four grandchildren, Kristen Anziano, Ashley Anziano, Andrew Anziano and Amanda Anziano; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Pasquale Festa and Louise and Joseph Festa all of Wallingford; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Tina Anziano.
His family will receive relatives and friends at the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext., Wallingford, Monday at 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. when the funeral cortege will proceed to Most Holy Trinity Church for a Mass of Christian burial at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be sent to Most Holy Trinity School, 11 N. Whittlesey Ave., Wallingford, CT 06492.

Rev. Robert J. Chagnon
SOUTHINGTON - The Rev. Robert J. Chagnon, 85 of Fort Myers, Fla., formerly of Southington and Montville died Thursday, Sept. 23, 1999, in Fort Myers, Fla.
Born in Montville, Feb. 16, 1914, the son of the late George and Bella (Levesque) Chagnon, he was the first priest to be ordained from Montville. The Rev. Chagnon attended St. Thomas Seminary in Bloomfield and St. Mary Seminary in Baltimore, Md., and was ordained May 18, 1940, at St. Joseph Cathedral in Hartford. The Rev. Chagnon served at Blessed Sacrament Church in Waterbury for seven years and St. Rose Church in East Hartford for 13 years. In 1961, he was the founding pastor of St. Aloysius Church in Southington where he retired from in 1979. Shortly thereafter, he moved to Fort Myers, Fla., where he has spent his retirement.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his six brothers; and one sister.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Sept. 27, with a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. at St. Aloysius Church, 254 Burritt St., Southington. The most Reverend Daniel A. Cronin, Arch Bishop of Hartford, will be the principal celebrant. A brief gathering will follow in the church hall. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. in St. Patrick Cemetery in Uncasville. Calling hours will be Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Donations in memory of Rev. Chagnon may be made to Hope Hospice Building Fund, 9470 Health Park Circle, Fort Myers, FL 33908, or to St. Aloysius Church. Plantsville Memorial Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville, has charge of arrangements.
