Helen S. Dorsey
WALLINGFORD - Helen S. Mrozowski Dorsey, 80, of North Turnpike Road, Wallingford, died Sunday May 9, 1999, in the MidState Medical Center, in Meriden. She was the beloved wife of Martin J. Dorsey.
Her family will receive relatives and friends at the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wallingford, Wednesday from 9 to 10 a.m. and when the funeral cortege will proceed to SS. Peter & Paul Church where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery. Gifts in her memory may be sent to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 234, Meriden, CT 06450.
Robert W. Glazewski
CHESHIRE - Robert W. "Babe" Glazewski, 74, devoted husband of Gail (Carangelo) Glazewski of 66 Old Towne Road, Cheshire, died Monday, May 10, 1999, at the Branford Hospice. He was born Meriden, March 26, 1925, a son of the late Walter and Elizabeth (Nowak) Glazewski. Mr. Glazewski was a resident of Meriden for many years before moving to Cheshire 18 years ago. Mr. Glazewski was employed by the SNET Co. as a directory staff/manager for 31 years retiring in 1987. He was a Veteran of WW II serving with the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a parishioner of both St. Bridget Church in Cheshire and St. Stanislaus Church in Meriden. While at St. Stanislaus Church he served as past president of the St. Stanislaus Home and School Association and a lector for St. Stanislaus Church. Robert also served as past president of the Postep Organization, and also volunteered for many Civic and Religious Organizations.
Besides his wife Gail, he leaves a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Terri Glazewski Jr., of Everett, Wash.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Charlene and John Zampaglione of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Rhonda and Steven Calhoun of Coral Springs, Fla., and Lisa and Patrick Ryan of Wallingford; nine grandchildren; and two sisters, Irene Nawrocki of Meriden and Judy Skladzien of New Hampshire and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Edmund, Theodore and Raymond Glazewski and two sisters, Pearl Miller and Dorothy Stearns.
A military funeral will be held Wednesday, May 12, 1999, at 9:15 a.m. from the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Church. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday (TODAY) from 4 to 8 p.m.
Stephen G. Biggs
ANSONIA - Stephen G. Biggs, 85, of 38 Morningside Drive, Ansonia, died April 6, 1999, after a short illness at Griffen Hospital in Derby. He was the husband of Louise Ramanauskas Biggs, born July 18, 1913, in Ansonia, son of Mary Banyai Biggs Fitzsimmons. Mr. Biggs was a lifelong resident of the valley and was employed for the UI Co. for 42 years at the Sub Station in Derby, and was an electrician at the time of his retirement. He was a parishioner of Assumption Church of Ansonia, former Ansonia Little League coach for the East Side, member of the Derby Sr. Center and the Doyle Sr. Center of Ansonia, and a veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theatre.
Mr. Biggs is survived by: one son, Ronald S. Biggs and his wife Maureen of Wallingford; one daughter, Carol L. Starkey and her husband, James of Ansonia; one brother, Michael Fitzsimmons of Naugatuck; one sister, Mary Supp of Seymour; five grandchildren, Mary G. Bielaska and her husband, Charles Whiting Jr., of Carmel N.Y., Capt. James Starkey and wife, Elizabeth, of Ft. McClellan, Ala., Kathleen Biggs Caprio and her husband, Michael, of Medfield, Mass., Kelly Biggs and friend Sue of Wallingford, Kimberly Biggs and friend Lori of Milford; six great-grandchildren, James and Joshua Starkey, Ryan and Kevin Caprio, and Spencer and Alexandra Whiting; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Thursday at 9 a.m. from the Jenkins-King Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St., Ansonia. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Assumption Church, Ansonia, at 10 a.m. Friends may call Wednesday (TODAY) from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mt. St. Peters Cemetery, Derby, with military honors. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Assumption Church School Fund or St. Anthony's Church of Ansonia.
Glendon H. Fleming
WALLINGFORD - Glendon H. Deming, 78, of Simpson Avenue, Wallingford, died Tuesday, April 6, 1999, in Zephyrhills, Fla. He was the husband of Elizabeth Bartholomew Deming.
Born in Wallingford, April 10, 1920, he was a son of the late Fredrick and Maude Elsie Joab Deming and was a lifelong resident. Mr. Deming was employed by the U S Postal service in Wallingford for many years until his retirement. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Wallingford, the National Association if Letter Carriers, the Major Raoul Lufbery VFW Post No. 519 of Wallingford and was a veteran of World War II having served with the U.S. Army.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Carol A. Deming of Wallingford; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Glenn H. and Sharon Deming of Meriden, Bruce A. and Mary Deming of Seymour and Richard F. Deming of Wallingford; five grandchildren, Sarah Deming, John Deming, Matthew Deming, Steven Martin and Michelle Martin; a brother, Norman Deming of Wallingford and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Maude Graves and a brother Howard Deming.
His family will receive relatives and friends at the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 No. Main St, Ext., Wallingford, Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the Wallingford Funeral Home, Saturday, at 1p.m. with the Rev. Margaret Jay, officiating. Interment in In Memoriam Cemetery

Catherine Veronneau
MERIDEN - Catherine (L'Heureux) Veronneau, formerly of North Meadow Lane, wife of the late Lawrence W. Veronneau, died on Monday, April 5, 1999, at Meriden Care & Rehab Center. Born in Meriden on March 13, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Philip and Eva (Delisle) L'Heureux. She attended Meriden schools and resided in Meriden for most of her lifetime except for a short period of time when she lived in Vermont. Mrs. Veronneau was employed by SNET Co., until her marriage in 1943. She was a parishioner of St. Laurent Church in Meriden, a member of the Women' Club and the Garden Club of Meriden.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda J. Veronneau of New Haven and Mrs. Paula C. Guben of Honolulu. Mrs. Veronneau was predeceased by two sisters, Justine L'Heureux and Eva Lamb, and one brother, Robert L'Heureux.
The funeral will be held on Saturday at 9:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., and at 10 a.m. in St. Laurent Church. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.
Anna T. Billings
MERIDEN - Anna T. Billings, 95, of 55 Willow St., died Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999, at the Westfield Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late John A. Billings.
Born Feb. 27, 1904, in Norwich, Conn., she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Lizak Topor. She came to Meriden at an early age, attended local schools and was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church, a member of its Ladies Guild and the Seniors' Sunshine Club. She was a 50-year member of DAV Ladies Auxiliary, Meriden-Wallingford Chapter No. 6, holding various offices and participating on numerous committees. She was also a member of the St. Theresa's Society.
Mrs. Billings is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Adolph and Ellen Billings and Robert and Patricia Billings, of Meriden, John J. and Pat Billings of Prospect; two sisters, Julia Karsmarski and Helen Custy, both of Meriden; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She is remembered for her love of family, especially her numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sons, Daniel and Alfred Billings; two brothers, the Rev. William Topor, former pastor of St. Stanislaus Church, and Stanley Topor; and a sister, Sophie Topor.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, Feb. 2, 1999, at 9:15 a.m. from the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden, Conn., followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. The family requests donations be made to the St. Stanislaus School Fund, 81 Akron St., Meriden, CT 06450.
Priscilla W. Jenkins
MERIDEN - Priscilla W. (Wrightington) Jenkins, 88, of 112 Dogwood Lane, and formerly of 15 Ek Court, Shrewsbury, Mass., died Friday in the MidState Medical Center, Meriden, after an illness. Her husband of 50 years, Howard F. Jenkins, died in 1988.
She was born and raised in Fairhaven, Mass., the daughter of Edward A. and Elizabeth F. (Eldridge) Wrightington and lived in Shrewsbury for more than 50 years before moving to Meriden, 11/2 years ago. Mrs. Jenkins had worked as an inspector for the Standard Lockwasher Co., Worcester, for many years before retiring in 1975. She had previously worked as a hairdresser in the New Bedford, Mass., area. She was a member of the Fairlawn Methodist Church in Shrewsbury and a former member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Worcester. At one time she had been a Sunday school teacher at the Edgemere Community Building, Shrewsbury. She was active with the Shrewsbury Seniors and the St. Anne's Church Senior Group.
She leaves her son, Peter E. Jenkins, with whom she lived; two grandchildren, Peter Jenkins, aboard the USS Truman, stationed in Newport News, Va., and Sarah (Mrs. Mark) Nowak of Meriden, Conn.; and three great-grandchildren.
Her funeral will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. in the Howard C. Allen Funeral Home, 653 Main St., Shrewsbury, Mass. Calling hours are at the funeral home on Sunday (TODAY) from 2 to 4 p.m. Following cremation, burial will be at the convenience of the family in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. If desired, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
Rev. Michael Kary
HARTFORD - The Rev. Michael Kary, 87, pastor emeritus of Memorial Baptist Church, died, Thursday, Jan. 28, 1999, at Hartford Hospital. He was the husband of Ruby (Webster) Burgess Kary.
He was born on the family homestead in Zetland, Alberta, Canada, son of the late Michael and Lydia (Fischer) Kary. Rev. Kary resided in British Columbia until he entered Colgate Rochester Divinity School, Rochester, N.Y., in 1935, where he was ordained a Baptist minister. He was assigned to the Baptist Temple and Calvary Baptist Church while in Rochester. From 1951-1958, he was the Minister at the Marion Baptist Church, Marion, N.Y. He served at the Second Baptist Church, Holyoke, Mass. from 1958-1964. He transferred to Memorial Baptist Church as minister in 1964, where he faithfully served until 1973, when he was appointed pastor emeritus. He later served from 1973-1985 as interim minister in numerous area churches, among them the Asylum Avenue Baptist Church, Hartford. He was instrumental in the founding of the South West Senior Citizens which meets at Memorial Baptist Church and he was an active member of the South End Senior Citizens Bowling League.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Michael Loran Kary, and his wife, Rita, of Woodside, Calif.; three daughters, Marla Kary Lembo and her husband, Nicholas, of Brooklyn, N.Y., Donna Morello and her husband, Frank, of Longwood, Fla., and Weslie Kary and her husband, Russell Tomlin, of Oakland, Calif.; three brothers, Joseph, Harold and Benjamin Kary, all of British Columbia; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held, Saturday, Feb. 6, 1999, at 11 a.m. at Memorial Baptist Church, 142 Fairfield Ave., Hartford, with the Rev. Robert C. Casstevens and Rev. Phillips B. Henderson officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no visiting hours. Contributions in his memory may be made to Memorial Baptist Church Remembrance Fund or "One Great Hour of Sharing". Norman G. Renkiewicz
PUNTA GORDA, Fla. - Norman George Renkiewicz, 66, died Sunday, Jan. 24, 1999, at National Healthcare Center of Port Charlotte.
He was born on Feb. 28, 1932, in Meriden, and moved to Punta Gorda four years ago. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict, U.S. Marine Corps; and recipient of the Purple Heart, Korean Service, and Good Conduct Medals.
Mr. Renkiewicz was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a member of American Legion Post 103, both in Punta Gorda, and he was a member of the Marine Corps League, Port Charlotte Detachment.
He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Carole (Boucher) Renkiewicz of Punta Gorda, Fla.; three daughters, Laurie Daigle and Christine Briers, both of Southington, and Aimee Gallagher of Meriden; two brothers, the Rev. Adolphle T. Renkiewicz of Enfield, Conn., and Edwin Ring of Punta Gorda, Fla.; and by five grandchildren.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday at 10:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden, and at 11 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church, Meriden. Burial with military honors will be held in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Meriden. Rita Varhue
MIDDLETOWN - Rita (Lariviere) Christian Varhue, of Westmont Drive, wife of Walter Varhue and the late Prosper O. Christian, died Saturday at MidState Hospital, Meriden, after a long illness.
She was born in Willimantic, daughter of the late Roderick and Regina Lariviere. Prior to her retirement, she was employed at J.C. Penny Co. in the accounting department. She was a member of St. Pius X Rosary Altar Society.
Besides her husband, she leaves a daughter, Linda Christian-Gaetgens and son-in-law, Ronald Gaetgens of Bristol; a granddaughter, Kristen Gaetgens; a son, Alan Christian; three sisters, Lorraine Picotte and Armande Gormley, both of Willimantic and Violet King of Columbia; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Albert Lariviere.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. from the Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown, with a 10 a.m. funeral liturgy in St. Pius X Church, Middletown. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Meriden. Friends may call at the Biega Funeral Home, Monday from 6 to 8 p.m.
Florence S. Vivari
MERIDEN - Florence S. Vivari, 79, wife of the late Armand J. Vivari, formerly of Fowler Avenue Ext., died Saturday morning in the Bradley Memorial Hospital, after a brief illness.
She was born in Meriden, August 29, 1919, a daughter of the late Oreste S. and Laurina Gori Sartucci. She was a lifelong resident. Mrs. Vivari retired from the casting department of the Pratt and Whitney Aircraft Co., after 25 years of employment. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, where she was a member of the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Society. She was also a member of the Meriden Senior Citizens and the A.A.R.P. Her family wishes to acknowledge the great pleasure she received from her annual summer stays in Maine.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John A. and Phyllis Vivari Sr. of Old Saybrook; a daughter and son-in-law, Laurene and James Tufts of Southington; two grandchildren, John A. Vivari Jr. and Regina Vivari; two step-grandchildren, James Tufts and Jerrilyn Couillard; a brother, August Sartucci of Maryland; a sister, Zelma Sabatella of Southington; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Patrick P. Sartucci; and two sisters, Nancy Magi and Julia Meoni.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral liturgy Tuesday, Feb. 2, 1999, beginning at 9:45 a.m., from the Smith-Ruzzo Funeral Home, 226 West Main St., with procession to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 a.m. She will be interred next to her husband in Sacred Heart Cemetery. There will be calling hours in the funeral home, Monday, Feb. 1, 1999, from 4 to 8 p.m.
