Mamie Jankowsky
SOUTHINGTON - Mamie Jankowsky, 84, of 408 Main St., wife of the late Alphonse Jankowsky, died Friday, Feb. 12, 1999, at Sheridan Woods Healthcare Center in Bristol. Born in Southington on July 28, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Pauline Nemec. She was a graduate of Lewis High School in Southington, later moving to Meriden, where she lived for the past 30 years. Mrs. Jankowsky was employed by the Curtis Home in Meriden and then by the Meriden Board of Education, retiring at 62. She was a parishioner and a minister of the Eucharist of St. Joseph Church in Meriden.
Mrs. Jankowsky is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lou and Joseph Belanger of Bristol; one son and daughter-in-law, Alphonse Jr. and Rosemarie Jankowsky of Meriden; five grandchildren, Eric Jankowsky, Karen Bernard, Kathy Ouellette, Valerie Pawlicki, and Richard Belanger; eight great-grandchildren, Mark and Wesley Pawlicki, Amy, Chelsey and Joseph Belanger, Michael Bernard, and Emily and Elie Ouellette; three sisters, Pauline Sushinsky of Southington; Antoinette Lewkowich of Milldale, and Carol Winner of Meriden; and by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Nemec.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, and at 10 a.m. in St Joseph Church, Meriden. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Walter Klimczak
MERIDEN - Walter Klimczak, 92, of Meriden, husband of the late Helen (Fedak) Klimczak, died peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999, at Meriden Center. Born in New York, N.Y., on Sept. 17, 1906, son of the late Alexander and Alexandira (Tatazynsky) Klimczak, he lived in Meriden for most of his life. Mr. Klimczak was employed by H. Wales-Lines Co. and New England Construction Co., retiring many years ago. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He was a past president of Local 920 of the Carpenters Union for many years.
Mr. Klimczak is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Mrs. Ronald (Mildred) Barillaro and Mrs. Larry (Jeanne) Ingham, all of Meriden; three grandchildren, Mrs. Jeanne Rocha, Ronald Barillaro Jr., and Mrs. Kristen Tupay; two great grandchildren, Nicholas and Michael Barillaro; one sister, Julia Brownell; one brother, John Klimczak; and by many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Klimczak was predeceased by three sisters, Clementine Wrobel, Dorothy Morway and Olga Fisher, and by one brother; Peter Klimczak.
The funeral will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the State Veterans Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden.

Joseph M. McNamara
WALLINGFORD - Joseph M. McNamara, 71, of Fourth Ridge Road, died Friday Feb. 12, 1999, in the Westfield Care Rehabilitation Center in Meriden. He was the husband of Elizabeth J. Stackpole McNamara.
Born in West Haven, Dec. 11, 1927, son of the late Joseph M. and Dorothy Allen McNamara, he was a Wallingford resident for 43 years. He had been employed by the former Bigalow Boiler Co. in New Haven for many years and later by National Pipe Co., until his retirement several years ago. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church and had served as an usher. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps, and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Budleski Post 9965, of Yalesville.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Patricia A. McNamara of Meriden; two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas M. and Mary Lou McNamara of Wallingford, and Edward P. and Lynn McNamara of Meriden; six grandchildren, Anthony Gallo, Frank Gallo, Carleen McNamara, Lauren McNamara, Ryan McNamara, and Jillian McNamara; four sisters, Josephine Murray of Old Saybrook, Dorothy Carpentino of Prospect, Natalie Dumark of North Fort Myers, Fla., and Geraldine Cole of New Haven; five brothers, Dennis McNamara of Guilford, Norman McNamara of Westfield, Mass., Ralph McNamara of Lake Ridge, Va., Howard McNamara of Lakeland, Fla., and Ronald McNamara of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; his mother-in-law, Josephine Stackpole of New Haven; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Joseph M. McNamara III, and two brothers, Kenneth McNamara and Bernard McNamara.
His family will receive relatives and friends in the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext., Wallingford, Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the Wallingford Funeral Home, after which the funeral cortege will proceed to Our Lady of Fatima Church for a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be sent to the American Cancer Society P.O. Box 188, North Haven, CT 06473 or to the Parkinson's Disease Association 27 Allendale Drive, North Haven, CT 06473.

Saverio Rotella
MERIDEN - Saverio Rotella, 89, of 180 Wayne Lane, husband of Julia (Savino) Rotella, died on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1999, at MidState Medical Center in Meriden after a brief illness. Born in Gimigliano, Italy, on January 22, 1910, son of the late Francesco and Mary Rose (Gariano) Rotella, he lived in Meriden for the past 60 years. Mr.Rotella was employed by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in Manchester. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church and a member of the Mt. Carmel Senior Citizens. He was also a member of the Meriden Senior Citizens and an avid gardner.
Besides his wife, Julia, he is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Judith and William J. Grimes of Los Angeles, Calif; one son, Francis S. Rotella of Meriden; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Henry and Irene Savino of Meriden; and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Domenic Rotella.
The funeral will held Tuesday, Feb. 16, 1999, at 8:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., and at 9 a.m. in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Victorien L. Veilleux
MERIDEN - Victorien L. Veilleux, 78, husband of Therese Bonsant Veilleux, of 147 Woodland St., died suddenly Thursday afternoon at the MidState Medical Center. He was born in Beauceville, Quebec, May 29, 1920, a son of the late Mathias and Victoria Busque Veilleux. He was a resident of Meriden since 1963. He was a self-employed carpenter specializing in cabinet making. In his retirement years he received great satisfaction seeing the faces of the children for whom he had built a special wooden toy. He was a Canadian Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Gaetan Veilleux and his wife, Deborah Binder, of Essex Junction, Vt., and Gregory and Pamela Veilleux of Wallingford; two daughters and a son-in-law, Christiane (Torchia) and her husband, Victor Marshall, of Meriden, and Michelle Averitt of Baton Rouge, La.; eight grandchildren; four nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Clement Veilleux. Funeral services will be held Saturday, (TODAY) Feb. 13, 1999, in the Smith-Ruzzo Funeral Home, 226 W. Main St., at 9:15 a.m., with his Mass of Christian burial in St. Joseph Church at 10a.m. He will be interred in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Sherman L. Warner
ENGLEWOOD, Fla. - Sherman L. Warner, 78, of 214 N. Fiji Circle, died Wednesday, Feb. 10, at Venice Hospital. He was the husband of Leona Shambo Warner. Mr. Warner, a son of the late Herbert and Christine Dorman Warner, was born in Foxon, Conn., on Jan. 26, 1921. He was a resident of the Hamden area for many years before moving to Florida in 1988. He retired from Safety Electric in Hamden in 1985. He was a member of the Polynesian Choir and bowling league and was also a youth bowling coach in Venice, Fla. Besides his wife, he leaves daughters Erin Warner of New Baltimore, N.Y., Kelly (Steve) Sherman of Northvale, N.J., sons John (Louise) Warner of New Baltimore, N.Y., Sherman (Frances) Warner of Wallingford, Stephen Warner of Hamden, Brian (Stacy) Warner of Panama City Fla.; a sister, Doris Beatty, of Branford, 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wives Dorothy Barber Hauser Warner and Marilyn Warner. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 16, at 11:00 a.m. in the Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden. Friends may call on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. Interment will be in Beaverdale Memorial Park, New Haven. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2100 Tamiami Trail, Suite A, Venice , FL 34293.

Alexander Juhase
MERIDEN - Alexander Juhase, 83, of 95 Sorries Court, died Monday April 19, 1999, at the Bradley Memorial Hospital in Southington. He was the husband of the late Alice E. Juhase.
He was born in New York City, Nov. 26, 1915, a son of the late John and Theresa King Juhase. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 43rd Division in the 169th Infantry, which saw extensive action in the Pacific. He worked as a plumber at the Wallace Silversmith Company for forty years until his retirement in 1981.
He is survived by three sons, Michael Juhase of Meriden, Jonathon D. Juhase of Manville, R.I., Paul Juhase of Meriden; a sister, Elizabeth Mezza of Wallingford; two grandchildren, Megan Juhase of Lowell, Mass., and Jeffrey Juhase of Boston.
A funeral service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Beecher & Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. The Rev. Patrick Riley Cameron will officiate. Burial with military honors will be at In Memoriam Cemetery in Wallingford. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday (TODAY) from 4 to 8 p.m. Contributions may be made to the South Meriden Trinity United Methodist Church, 145 Main St., South Meriden, CT 06451.

Helen Lucas
WINSTED - Helen Lucas,88, of 34 Bridsall St, died Monday, April 19, 1999, funeral services and burial will be at the convenience of the family and there will be no calling hours.

Hester E. Linehan
OAKHAM, Mass. - Hester E. (Presho) Linehan, 96, of 56 Barre Road, died April 19, 1999, at home after an illness. Her husband, Joseph D. Linehan died in 1971.
She leaves two sons, Donald B. Linehan of Oakham, and Jeffrey A. Linehan of Wilmington; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son David P. Linehan of northern New Jersey in 1938; a daughter Lois B. Linehan of Oakham in 1998. She lived in Meriden, and many years in Oakham.
Mrs. Linehan was a registered nurse in the maternity ward at Meriden Hospital for many years before she retired. She was a member of the Meriden Garden Club.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 23, 1999, from Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, 290 Main St., Rutland. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to the St. Patrick's Church Building Fund, 290 Main St., Rutland, MA 01543.

Peter O. Gilluly
MENDOCINO, Calif. - Peter O. Gilluly, 50, died unexpectedly Monday, Feb. 8, 1999. He was born in Meriden, May 26, 1948, a son of the late William C. and Phyllis Grogan Gilluly. Very independent, he lived life on his own terms as a resident of Calif., for the past 24 years. He was a graduate of The Wilcox Technical High School. He is survived by a brother; Brian Gilluly, of S. Meriden, and a sister; Debbie Gilluly, of Hartford. Funeral arrangements and interment were held in California.

Harold W. Owen
WALLINGFORD - Harold J. Owen, 74, of 17 Grieb Court, Wallingford, died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1999, at MidState Medical Center, Meriden after being stricken with an apparent heart attack. He was the husband of Anne McGuire Owen.
He was born in New Haven, Aug. 18, 1924, son of the late Harold F. Owen and Marie Anderson Owen Lynch. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired in 1986 from the United Illuminating Co., where he was a dispatcher. He was a member of the Wallingford Senior Citizens and a former member of the St. Augustine Church Mission Society. Prior to moving to Wallingford three years ago, he had been a long time resident of North Branford.
Besides his wife, he leaves; a son, William H. Owens of Meriden; three daughters; Elizabeth M. Owens of Atlanta; Maria Krista and Judith O. Wiedenmann, both of Wallingford; and seven grandchildren.
The funeral will take place from the Keenan Funeral Home, 330 Notch Hill Road (Route, 22S at Route 80), North Branford, Saturday at 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at Most Holy Trinity Church, Wallingford at 10:30 a.m. Burial in All Saints Cemetery, North Haven. Friends may call Friday (TODAY) from 4 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Father Michael J. McGivney Center for Cancer Care, 1450 Chapel St., New Haven, CT. 06511.
