Eric Bjornberg
WALLINGFORD - Eric "Whitey" Bjornberg, 70, of 175 Mansion Road, died Saturday, March 27, 1999, while on vacation in Aruba. He was the husband of Ellen Gage Bjornberg.
He was born in North Haven, April 26, 1928, a son of the late Harry J. and Frances Blakeslee Bjornberg. Until his retirement in 1980, he was a salesman at the Atlantic Floor Covering Co. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Merchant Marines and an Army veteran during the Korean War, and was a member of the Romeo Club in North Haven and the Stanley Budleski VFW Post No. 9965 in Yalesville.
In addition to his wife of 47 years, he is survived by seven sons, Rick Bjornberg of Virginia Beach, Va., Todd, Kevin, Christopher, Paul, John and Shawn Bjornberg all of Wallingford; a daughter, Mrs. Sheryl Lanahan of Wallingford; four brothers, Donald Bjornberg of Arizona, Phillip, Roger and Dana Bjornberg all of Connecticut; five sisters, Doris Harper of Florida, Marilyn Bullis and Linda Geary both of Connecticut, Carol Coleman and Christine Bjornberg both of California; an uncle, Allen Blakeslee of Texas ; and 18 grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Allen Keith Bjornberg.
Friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Thursday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 382 Hope Hill Road, Yalesville. Friends may call at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 South Elm St., on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery, Wallingford. It is suggested that gifts in his memory be made to the charity of one's choice.

Frank F. Catrone
MERIDEN - Frank F. Catrone, 87, of 205 Thorpe Ave., loving husband of Ann (Budnick) Catrone, died on Monday, March 29, 1999, at St. Francis hospital in Hartford. Born in Meriden on Sept. 3, 1911, he was the son of the late Peter and Rose (Oppedisano) Catrone. He was a lifelong resident of Meriden and was educated in Meriden schools. Mr. Catrone was employed by General Electric Co. and International Silver Co., retiring 22 years ago. He was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church.
Besides his wife, Ann, he is survived by and was the beloved father of two daughters and sons-in-law, Carole and Pierre L'Heureux of Meriden, and Sandra and Frederick Esbaner of Southington; the beloved grandfather of eight grandchildren, Joanne Dahn, Theresa Cassin, Denise Marino, Pierre L'Heureux Jr., Christina Kopcza, Laurie Thomas, Jeffrey Esbaner and Jacqueline Esbaner; the beloved "Grandpa Frank" of 13 great-grandchildren, Richard, Ronald, Renee, Robert, Riley and Russell Cassin; Melissa and Nicholas Dahn; Keith and Jeremy L'Heureux; Seth Marino; Alexander and Olivia Thomas; and Victoria Esbaner; three sisters, Josephine Tetreault of Meriden, Julia Jakiela, and Ernestine Catucci all of Meriden; one brother, George Catrone of Meriden and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one sister, Florence Cotrona, and by three brothers, Joseph, John and James Catrone.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday at 8:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., and at 9 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Church. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday (TODAY) from 4 to 8 p.m.

Nellie Evarts
MERIDEN - Nellie (Alix) Evarts, 85, of 360 Broad St., wife of the late Richard W. Evarts, died Monday, at the Miller Memorial Community in Meriden. Born in Meriden on Aug. 17, 1913, the daughter of the late Joseph and Jennie (Dowling) Alix, she had been a lifelong resident of the city. She was a parishioner of St. Laurent Church, and a member of the Daughters of Isabelli the Meriden emblem Club and the Meriden Columbiette. (K of C Auxiliary).
Mrs. Evarts is survived by: one son, Raymond and his wife Gail Evarts of Newington; two grandsons, Jason and Eric Evarts of Newington; three brothers, Leo, Raymond and Robert Alix; and three sisters, Frances Conroy, Mary Nugent and Elizabeth Becroft. She was predeceased by a sister, Yvonne Cassidy.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St, Meriden, and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Laurent Church, Meriden. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, prior to the Mass from 8 to 9 a.m.

Janice Green
SOUTHINGTON - Janice (Derouin) Green, 58, of 43 Academy St., died Saturday, March 27, 1999, at Bradley Memorial Hospital. Born June 15, 1940, in Waterbury, daughter of Josephine (Siemiatkoski) Derouin of Florida, and the Joseph Derouin, she had been employed at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft and had received an certificate from the Visiting Nurses Association. She was a parishioner of St. Thomas Church.
Besides her mother, she is survived by four sons, James Green of Plainville, Gary Green of Plantsville, Dave Green of New Britain and Adam LaFrance of Tempe, Ariz.; two brothers, Norman Derouin of Florida, and Walter Derouin of Southington; two sisters, Lori Mick of New Britain and Lucille Derouin of Florida; and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Wednesday, 9 a.m. at St. Thomas Church. Burial will be at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday, (TODAY) from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Della Vecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St.

Joseph J. Hubert
WALLINGFORD - Joseph J. Hubert, 93, of 110 S. Cherry St., Wallingford, died Jan. 11, 1999, at the MidState Medical Center, Meriden after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Irene Kosa Hubert. Mr. Hubert was born in Wallingford on March 18, 1905, and was the son of the late Martin and Barbara Kutzo Hubert. A lifelong resident of Wallingford, he was the owner and operator of Hubert's Clothing Store of Wallingford all of his life until its closing. He was a member of the Hungarian Club, the Wallingford Elks Club and the Evangelical and Reformed United Church of Christ, Wallingford.
He leaves a son, Conard Hubert of North Hollywood, Calif.; daughters, Dorothy Struble of Ft. Scott, Kansas, Janet Addy of Palm City, Fla., Nancy A. Hart of Wallingford; a sister, Margaret Trowbridge of Wallingford. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Predeceased by brothers, Frank and Steve Hubert; and sisters, Martha DeRise and Anna Hubert.
His funeral procession will leave the Fitzgerald Memorial Funeral Home, 209 Center St., Wallingford, Thursday at 11 a.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the E & R United Church of Christ, Wallingford at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Wallingford. The visiting hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Eness Macolino
MERIDEN - Eness (Mongillo) Macolino, 85, of 21 Gale Ave., wife of the late Louis Macolino, died Monday, March 29, 1999, at Westfield Care & Rehab. Center in Meriden after a lengthy illness. Born in Southington, on Nov. 5, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Marcello and Maria (Parisi) Mongillo. Mrs. Macolino had lived in Plantsville for most of her life prior to moving to Meriden some 20 years ago, and she was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church.
She is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Marie and Ronald Lewis of Meriden and Phyllis Hanson of South Meriden; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Anna Tonnotti and Viola Perrotti, both of Plantsville; and by many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Macolino was predeceased by three sister, Julia Matarazzo, Gladys Natale and Lucy Crispino; four brothers, Pat, Salvatore, Kenneth and Valerio Mongillo, and by a son-in-law, Philip B. Hanson Sr.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Wednesday, March 31, 1999, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Church. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in he memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital Memorial/Honor Program, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-9929. Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden.

George Madden
NAUGATUCK - George Madden, 75, of 37 Deering Lane, Naugatuck died March 28, 1999, at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. He was the husband of Barbara (McGeever) Madden. Mr. Madden was born Sept. 29, 1923, in Naugatuck, son William G. and Josephine (Moran) Madden. He was a graduate of St. Francis Grammar School and was in the class of 1942 at Naugatuck High School. Mr. Madden was a veteran of World War II.
He had worked at Waterbury Manufacturing, Chase Brass and Copper and retired after 30 years of service from Sylivania/GTE of Watertown. He was involved in many local groups and also delivered meals for the VNA.
Besides his wife of 50 years, he is survived by his daughters, Ede-Jo Madden of Brooklyn, Katiellen Madden of High Falls, N.Y.; his sons, Doug Madden of Naugatuck, Geody and his daughter-in-law, Vikki Madden of Taos, N.M.; his grandchildren, Jessica Ziegler-Madden of New York, Ivan McFadden of Albuquerque, N.M., and Eric McFadden of San Francisco; a sister, Ellen Flaherty of Naugatuck; and brothers, Joseph Madden of Cheshire, Edward Madden of Cupertino, Calif., and William Madden of Naugatuck.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. from the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck to St. Francis Church for a Mass at 9 a.m. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday, March 30, from 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of George Madden may be made to Connecticut Hospice, 61 Burban Drive, Branford, CT 06406, would be appreciated by the family.

Edward F. McElroy
MERIDEN - Edward F. McElroy, 61, of 60 Grove St., died Saturday, March 27, 1999, at home. He was born Sept. 26, 1937, in Meriden, the son of the late Edward and Emily (Kicielinski) McElroy. He was a graduate of Meriden High School and a lifelong parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church. He was employed at New Departure General Motors Division for many years prior to his retirement, as well as being a navy veteran.
He is survived by one daughter, Vanessa McElroy; one brother, William and his wife, Kathy, McElroy of Woodstock, Va.; two sisters, Kathleen and her husband, William, Catrone of Middlefield and Rosemary and her husband, Robert, Hogan of South Carolina; one niece, Kelly McElroy and one nephew, William McElroy, both of Woodstock, Va. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his twin brother, Francis McElroy.
A funeral service will be held at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, March 31, at the funeral home with a service beginning at 10 a.m., the Rev. Edmond Nadolny of St. Stanislaus Church will be officiating. A Christian burial to follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Meriden. Friends and relatives may call at the Szymaszek-Taylor Funeral Home, 189 E. Main St., Meriden, (TODAY) from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Stanislaus Church in his memory.

Ernest W. Wright
SOUTHINGTON - Ernest W. Wright, 81, formerly of 104 Bristol St., died Sunday, March 28, 1999, at Ridgewood Health Care. He was the husband of the late Anna Marie (DiCaprio) Wright and the late Vara (Keech) Wright. He passed into Jesus and the angels arms peacefully after a long hard courageous battle with Parkinson's disease.
Born May 12, 1917, in Southington, son of the late Ernest and Jennie (Jackson) Wright. He had retired from Tilcon-Tommasso of New Britain. Mr. Wright had been a member of the Bethal Alliance Church of New Britain.
He is survived by four sons, Ernest L. Wright of Plymouth, Robert G. Wright of Southington, Thomas Wright of Natick, Mass., and John Wright of Olympia, Wash.; a daughter, Marion Gionfriddo; a brother, Leonard Wright both of Southington; a sister, Lillian Schwartz of Plantsville; three grandchildren, Kelly Ann Wright, Christopher Wright and Gary Naples; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his family he is survived by many nurses and CNA's that gave him loving care and truly appreciated his sense of humor. He was affectionately called "Ernie Bernie" and was said often "you have to love him." Thank you staff for your kindness and love for Dad.
He was predeceased by a brother, Raymond Wright and two sisters, Anges and Marjorie Davis.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Della Vecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday (TODAY) 5 to 8 p.m. Donations may be made in his memory to the Ridgewood Patient Recreation Fund, 582 Meriden Ave. Southington, CT 06489.

Joseph B. Bober Jr.
POMFRET - Joseph B. Bober Jr., 69, of Rich Road, Abington, died Wednesday, March 10, 1999, in the Veterans Administration Medical Center, in West Haven. He had been the husband of Lorraine T. Kiczuk Bober.
Born in Meriden, Oct. 18, 1929, son of Ann K. Sabota Bober, of Wallingford, and the late Joseph B. Bober Sr., he was raised in Wallingford and had lived in Winsted eight years before moving to Abington 32 years ago.
He was a graduate of the University of Connecticut and had been a teacher at Brooklyn Junior High School for many years until his retirement. He had previously been employed by American Cyanamid, in Wallingford. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Noank Yacht Club, the Connecticut Teachers Association, and the VFW of East Killingly. He had been a parishioner of SS. Peter and Paul Church.
Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Susan J. Marshall of Voluntown, and June L. and Raymond Depulski of Norwich; three sons, Joseph T. Bober of Middletown, Thomas S. Bober of Indianapolis, Ind., and James M. Bober of West Woodstock; seven grandchildren, Melissa Marshall, Christine Marshall, Joseph Bober, Michael Bober, Sarah Bober, Jesse Bober and Rachel Bober; and several aunts, and uncles.
Funeral services will be held Saturday (TODAY) at 9 a.m. in the Wallingford Funeral Home, when the funeral cortege will proceed to SS. Peter and Paul Church for a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Interment will be in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery.

Filomena Calvi
BOSTON - Filomena Calvi, 98, died in Boston, Mass., on Friday, March 12, 1999. Born in Italy in 1901, she came to America in July of 1947. She was the wife of the late Rocco Calvi.
Mrs. Calvi is survived by three sons, Joseph of Durham, Salvatore of Boston, and Vincent of Meriden; one daughter, Rose, of Newton, Mass.; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Her family will receive relatives and friends at the Eaton & Mackay Funeral Home, 465 Center St., Newton, Mass., Sunday, March 14, from 3 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be Monday at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church for a Mass of Christian burial.
