Doris M. Morrison,
a Darien resident since 1950, died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2001 at Stamford Hospital. She was 83.
She died of cardiac arrest, according to her family.
Born June 5, 1917, in Wethersfield, she was a daughter of the late Hugo and Julia Footit Matsen.
Mrs. Morrison was a graduate of Wethersfield High School and attended St. Joseph's College in Hartford.
She was a member of St. John's Church and its Cancer Sewing Group in Darien. She attended the Darien Senior Center and was a member of the AARP.
She is survived by three sons, William E. Morrison of Canton, Mich., James Morrison of Waterbury and Robert Morrison of Meriden; two daughters, Sheila Allen of Darien and Judith Garrabrant of Indianapolis; a sister, Shirley Lefave of Everett, Mass.; and 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward J. Morrison; and a brother, William Matsen.
Calling hours will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001 at Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001 at St. John's Church, Post Road, Noroton.
Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery
in Darien.

Muriel Hill Padbury,
a former resident of Greenwich and Stamford, died Friday, Feb. 23, 2001 at home in Manchester. She was 80.
She died of cancer, according to her family.
Born Dec. 5, 1920, in Portland, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Everett and Emma Glazier Hill.
Mrs. Padbury moved to Manchester 11 years ago, after living in Old Greenwich for 36 years and Stamford for 10 years.
She was a longtime member of the Old Greenwich Art Society and volunteered at Stamford Hospital.
In Manchester, she was a member of the Rotary Club and the Auxiliary of Manchester Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Padbury graduated from Westbrook College in 1940.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, John Padbury of Manchester; a daughter, Nancy Fish of Manchester; and three granddaughters and a great-grandchild.
Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. today, Feb. 26, 2001 at Watkins Funeral Home, 142 E. Center St., Manchester.
A service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001 at the funeral home. The Rev. Henry C. Lubben will officiate.
A private burial service will be held this spring at the Cousins Island Cemetery
in Yarmouth, Maine.

Mary-Alice Barnum Merritt,
a lifelong Norwalk resident, died Friday, Feb. 23, 2001 at Norwalk Hospital. She was 87.
She died of natural causes, according to her family.
Born May 2, 1913, in Port Chester, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Allan R. and Thursa May Olsen Barnum.
Mrs. Merritt attended Norwalk schools and the University of Connecticut for two years. She was a member of the Norwalk Women's Club and Grace Episcopal Church.
She received the meritorious service award in the fight against heart disease from the Norwalk chapter of the American Heart Association, where she volunteered for 15 years.
Mrs. Merritt enjoyed reading, embroidery and needlepoint.
She is survived by three daughters, Thursa J. Merritt of Norwalk, Phyllis M. Kelleher of Woodbury and Starr Moore of Pensacola, Fla.; a brother, Allan R. Barnum Jr. of Norwalk; a sister, Frances Jackson of Norwalk; and three grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a sister, Thursa A. Barnum.
Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001 at Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk.
A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001 at Grace Episcopal Church, Union Park and Mott Avenue in Norwalk.
Burial will follow in Willowbrook Cemetery
in Westport.

L. Kevin Becraft
Calling hours for L. Kevin Becraft, 53, a longtime New Canaan resident who died of a pulmonary embolism Sunday, June 4, 2000 at Norwalk Hospital will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, June 7, 2001 at F. Hoyt Funeral Home, 199 Main St., New Canaan.
A memorial service will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, June 8, 2000 at United Methodist Church, 165 South Ave., New Canaan. A reception will follow at the church.
Burial is private.

Ryan M. Carew
Ryan M. Carew, a resident of West Haven, died Monday, June 5, 2000 at Beth Israel Hospital in New York City. He was 13.
He died of a stroke, according to his family.
Born Sept. 8, 1986, in Milford, he was the son of Richard Carew of West Haven and former Stamford resident Kathleen Jones Carew of West Haven.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Maggie and Amy Carew of West Haven; his paternal grandparents, John and Kathryn Rourke Carew of West Haven; and his maternal grandparents, Richard and Kathleen Mulkerin Jones of West Haven.
Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 8, 2000 at Kennan Funeral Home, 238 Elm St., West Haven.
A service will be at 10:15 a.m. Friday, June 9, 2000 at the funeral home.

Etta Chatmon
Etta Chatmon, a longtime Stamford resident, died Saturday, June 3, 2000 at Tandet Center for Continuing Care in Stamford. She was 87.
She died of natural causes, according to her family.
Born April 25, 1913, in More County, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Jesse and Mary Person.
Mrs. Chatmon was a former crossing guard in Stamford.
She was a member of Union Baptist Church in Stamford, where she was a member of several choirs, including the Voices of Deliverance, Sanctuary Choir and the women's chorus. Mrs. Chatmon was a member of the Prayer Band.
Mrs. Chatmon is survived by two sons, Leon Caviness of Stamford and Bert Person of New Haven; a daughter, Patricia Wright McCord of Stamford; a sister, Alberta Elmore of Massachusetts; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Chatmon was predeceased by her husband, Joel Chatmon; a son, Kermit Wright; and a daughter, Lillie Mae Caviness.
Calling hours will be 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, June 10, 2000 at Union Baptist Church, 805 Newfield Ave., Stamford.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. at the church. The Rev. Robert W. Perry will officiate.
Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery.
