Irene F. Winspur
Irene F. Winspur, 84, formerly of Mount Nebo Road, Newtown, died Wednesday October 19, 2005, in Ashlar of Newtown. Mrs. Winspur was the wife of the late Alfred Winspur.

She was born in Monroe on August 21, 1921, a daughter of the late Andrew and Veronica Chacho. Mrs. Winspur had resided in Newtown since 1960 and was a longtime member of the Moose Lodge in Danbury.

Irene is survived by a sister, Nelle O'Neil of Bridgeport; a daughter-in-law, Mary Ellen Lydem of Newtown; 2 sisters-in-law, Virginia Macro and Lois Winspur, of Newtown; 2 granddaughters, Deborah Holmes and Jacqueline Krikorian of Newtown; 5 great-grandchildren, Lily, Hanna and Eli Holmes, Taylor and Payten Krikorian; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her two sons, Alfred Winspur Jr. and William Winspur; and by her four brothers, Frank Chacho, William Chacho, Andrew Chacho and John Chacho.

A Graveside Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday October 30, 2005 at St. Rose Cemetery, Cherry Street, Sandy Hook. There are no calling hours. Arrangements by the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main St., Newtown.

Dorothy A. Signore
Dorothy Ann Karwoski Signore, age 60, of Simpaug Turnpike, Redding, died Friday, October 21, 2005, at Danbury Hospital. She was the wife of John Signore.

Mrs. Signore was born in Bronx, N.Y., August 16, 1945, a daughter of the late Adam and Jane (Zbrzezny) Karwoski. She was a Connecticut resident since 1976 and had been living in Redding for the past 11 years. She worked as a Legal Secretary for many years.

In addition to her husband of 29 years, she is survived by a son: Michael J. Signore and a daughter: Stacy A. Signore both of Redding.

The family will receive friends at the Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Ave., Bethel, Monday evening from 5:00 to 7:00. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at time to be announced.

Dorothy (Sheppard) Lynch
Dorothy (Sheppard) Lynch, age 82, formerly of Brewster. N.Y., died peacefully on Saturday, September 24, 2005, at The Pines Nursing Center in Easton, Md.

"Dot" was a graduate of St. Lawrence O'Toole School in Brewster and of St. Mary's H.S. in Katonah, NY.

She was most recently employed by the U.S. Federal Government at Columbus, Ga., before moving to Seaford, Del. upon her retirement.

She was predeceased by her husband, William F. Lynch and is survived by a daughter, Virginia Riggs and her husband John of Salisbury, Md. and two sons, Michael and his wife Sue of Bozman, Md. and Terrence of Partlow, Va. She is also survived by a sister. Ann Hague of Fairfield and a brother, James Sheppard of No. Ft. Meyers, Fla. and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial Mass was celebrated on Thursday, September 29, 2005 at Our Lady of Lourdes R.C. Church in Seaford, Del.

Dennis E. LeBlanc
Dennis E. LeBlanc, age 46, of Danbury, died unexpectedly on Friday October 21, 2005.

He was born July 13, 1959 in Portchester, N.Y., son of Edward LeBlanc and the late Concetta (Rossitto) LeBlanc.

He was a graduate of Danbury High School and attended Norwalk Community College.

He was employed for many years by Star Distributorship and most recently as a painter with Mead Construction.

In addition to his father, he is survived by his brother, Kenneth A. LeBlanc and his wife Maria (Teixeira) LeBlanc; and nephews Jamie and Bryan LeBlanc.

Funeral Services will be held at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, on Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m.

Cremation will take place at the direction of the family.

Friends will be received at the Green Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5 p.m. to the time of the Service.

Contributions in Dennis' memory may be made to the family for a charity of their choice.

Anthony C. Capizzi
Anthony C. Capizzi, 82, of Brookfield, husband of Eleanor (Grimaldi) Capizzi, died on Friday morning, October 21, 2005, at Danbury Hospital.

Mr. Capizzi was born in New York, N.Y., May 3, 1923, a son of Marietta (Cimino) Capizzi of Valley Stream, L.I., New York and the late Frank Capizzi.

He attended New York schools; enlisted in the U.S. Army; was a World War II veteran and a recipient of the Purple Heart.

Upon his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, Mr. Capizzi joined his father in the food oil business. A career that spanned his entire working life, Mr. Capizzi sold the business of his father and in 1978 established Quality Food Oils based in New Milford with his son, Frank Capizzi and son-in-law, Daniel Lane.

Mr. Capizzi has been an area resident since 1986 coming from Valley Stream, L.I., New York.

In addition to his wife of fifty-eight years and mother, a daughter, Marie Lane and her husband Daniel of Danbury; a daughter-in-law, Denise Capizzi of Brookfield; a brother, Peter Capizzi of Glen Head, L.I., New York; a sister-in-law, Anna Coiro of Valley Stream, L.I., New York; a brother-in-law, Vincent Lange of Babylon. L.I., New York; four grandsons, Marc Lane and his wife Jillian, Brian Lane, Anthony Capizzi and Thomas Capizzi; and several nieces and nephews survive him.

His son, Frank Capizzi, late of Brookfield, predeceased his father in 2004.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 520 Ridgebury Road, Ridgefield.

Entombment will take place in Holy Rood Cemetery, Westbury, L.I., New York.

The family will receive friends in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield on Monday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

James R. Hinkle
James R. Hinkle, 63, of Ridgefield, husband of Germaine (Lutz) Hinkle, died Nov. 1, 2005, at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, New York, N.Y.
Mr. Hinkle was born in Braddock, Pa., June 20, 1942, son of Mary Ellen (O'Connor) Hinkle of Melbourne, Fla., and the late Francis R. Hinkle. Raised in McKeesport, Pa., James attended local schools, graduated from California State University and later attended graduate school. He was an educator with the Pennsylvania and later New York state public school systems.

A resident of Ridgefield for the past 25 years coming from Yonkers, N.Y., Mr. Hinkle was a member of the Mamanasco Lake Park Association and of St. Elizabeth Seton Church.

A great boating enthusiast, Mr. Hinkle also coached Ridgefield basketball, baseball and soccer as well as being a leader with the Indian Guides.

In addition to being an educator, Mr. Hinkle was also an accomplished sculptor and artist.

In addition to his loving wife, Germaine, of 35 years and his mother, Mary Ellen, a devoted son, James R. Hinkle Jr., and his wife, Jill, of New Fairfield; a sister, Katherine Stevenson, of Merritt Island, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews survive.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 9 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 520 Ridgebury Road, Ridgefield. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ridgefield. The family will receive friends in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield, Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.

Gloria M. Barlow
Gloria M. Barlow, 82, a resident of Hawthorne, passed away Nov. 1, 2005. born May 30, 1923, in Yonkers, N.Y., to Mary and Domit Tolany, she was one of seven children.

Gloria worked at Otis Elevators in Yonkers, prior to marrying her late husband, Walter C. Barlow Jr. Gloria was a member of the Rosailans in Hawthorne and a very active member of the Thornwood Neighborhood Club and the Mt. Pleasant Senior Citizens where she was director of activities and new members.

Gloria was inducted into the Westchester County Senior Hall of Fame. She was a communicant of Holy Rosary Church.

Gloria was the beloved wife of the late Walter C. Barlow Jr., loving mother and devoted grandmother.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary-Ellen Barlow-Hansen, of Brookfield, her son-in-law, Lars, and her two adored grandchildren Torben and Malene.

She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Reposing will be Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Maher Funeral Home in Pleasantville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church. Interment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

Gloria Fernandes
Gloria Fernandes, 94, of Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y., died Oct. 30, 2005. She was born in Gralhas, Portugal, on Nov. 11, 1910.

She was a longtime resident of Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y. At the time of her death, she was living with her daughter Elizabeth Smith and her husband Ted in Bethel.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Agostinho Fernandes, and two daughters Rose Egiziaco and Mary F. Carvalho.

She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth F. Smith, and her son, Agostinho Fernandes Jr., of South Lyon, Mich. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, six step-grandchildren and a total of 18 grandchildren.

Calling hours will be Friday from 9 a.m. to noon at Hasting Funeral Home, 15 Spring St., Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y. Services will be at noon, followed by entombment at Mount Hope Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Bethel Visiting Nurse Association or feed your hungry neighbors, in her name, through your food pantry.

Barbara J. Hill
Barbara J. Hill, 74, of Brookfield, died Nov. 1, 2005, at New Milford Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of Nathaniel Hill.

Barbara was born in Danbury on Nov. 13, 1930, daughter of the late John and Roberta (Van Scoy) Wochek.

She graduated from Danbury High School in 1948 and had worked as a bookkeeper for various businesses in the Danbury area. She was a longtime member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Brookfield, where she served as a treasurer and was an active member of the Episcopal Church Women's group until the onset of her illness.

Besides her husband of 54 years, she is survived by a daughter, Jeanne Kornhaas and her husband, Peter, of New Milford; her grandchildren Kristen and Brett Kornhaas, also of New Milford; three brothers, Warren Wochek and his wife, Charlotte, of Brookfield, Jack Wochek and his wife, Jean, of Danbury, and Vernon Wochek, of Beacon Falls; several nieces and nephews, as well as her many friends throughout the years.

The family will receive friends at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Brookfield, Saturday at 1 p.m. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. Cremation will be at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Route 25, Brookfield, CT 06804 or to the charity of one's choice.

Barbara C. Parker
Barbara C. Parker, wife of the late Herman W. Parker, passed away Nov. 1, 2005, at Avery Heights in Hartford after a brief illness. born on March 14, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Herbert H. Cutler and Mary Jane Patterson Cutler.

Barbara was a resident of Newtown, until retirement when she and her husband moved to Heritage Village in Southbury. She lived at Avery Heights for the last five years of her life.

Barbara was the Town Clerk of Newtown for seven years and was actively involved in the American Field Service Program, a volunteer at Danbury Hospital, the Red Cross Blood Bank, Meals on Wheels and a life member of the Newtown Historical Society. She was a member of the Newtown Woman's Club and active in the women's fellowships of Newtown Congregational Church and the Southbury United Church of Christ.

Barbara had a great zest for living and embraced life with curiosity and enthusiasm. She loved her family and friends, books, music, crossword puzzles and playing bridge and Scrabble with her many friends at Avery Heights.

She is survived by her sister, Geraldine Spiegelhalter, of Naperville, Ill., and her brother, William Cutler, of Bradenton, Fla. She was a loving mother to her four daughters and her sons-in-law, Susan Fellman and her husband, Stanley, of West Hartford, Gay Parker and her husband, Charles McClain, of Fresno, Calif., Marianne Ludwig and her husband, Thomas, of Charlotte, N.C., and Barbara McIlravy and her husband, Arthur, of Bethel. She will be greatly missed by her five grandchildren, Stephen Ludwig, Leigh Clinard, Elizabeth Lambertson, Claire Fellman and Dana Parker McClain and five nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at Avery Heights Sub Acute Unit 1 and Hospice and Palliative Care of CTVNA for their loving care.

To celebrate her life, a memorial service will be held at Asylum Hill Congregational Church, 814 Asylum Ave. in Hartford, Saturday at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Philanthropic Educational Organization at PEO Projects, c/o Colleen Carpenter, 46 Lake Ridge Road, Southbury, CT 06488 or to Hospice and Palliative Care of CTVNA, 111 Founders Plaza, 2nd Floor, East Hartford, CT 06108.

Amy Jean Schweitzer
Amy Jean Schweitzer died unexpectedly at her home in Meriden on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2005.

Born in Escanaba, Mich., on May 27, 1971, she was the loving daughter of David and Virginia Schweitzer, of Wakefield, N.H. She was a longtime resident of Ridgefield, where she graduated from Ridgefield High School in 1989 and attended home health care classes and cosmetology training in Danbury.

Amy was a longtime member of The First Congregational Church of Danbury and worked in the Danbury area as a home health care worker, cosmetologist and at Northside Animal Hospital caring for all varieties of rescued pets, including her beloved cat Fordy. A caring, courageous, compassionate and loving person, she leaves many friends in Connecticut and New Hampshire.

Family members include her sisters Catherine Lynne Schweitzer, of Wakefield, N.H., Bethany Marie (Schweitzer) and Ronald Furman, of Brookfield; brother, Jeffrey Russell Schweitzer, of Stamford; matriarch, Marjorie Ruth Buettner, of Milwaukee, Wis.; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins in California, Colorado and Wisconsin.

A memorial service to celebrate Amy's life will be held at the First Congregational Church of Wakefield, N.H., at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005, led by the Rev. Peter Foss. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Amy's memory can be made to the Danbury Animal Welfare Society (DAWS) Inc., P.O. Box 971, Danbury, CT 06813.
