Frank Raymond Cervera
December 07, 1933 - October 05, 2004
Frank Raymond Cervera, of Karen Road, Danbury, husband of Harriet “Ricki” (Herrick) Cervera, died at Candlewood Valley Health Care Center, on Tuesday, October 5th, at the age of 70. He was born in Danbury on December 7, 1933, son of the late Frank and Rosario (Arbona) Cervera. He attended Henry Abbott Technical School.
Mr. Cervera was a Veteran of the Korean War, having served with the United States Navy on the U.S.S. Willis A. Lee. He worked for Bardens in Danbury, IBM, and was Superintendent of Water Treatment Plants in both Danbury and Norwalk. He retired from Holcomb Fuel in Newtown as a Service Representative.
He was a parishioner of St. Gregory the Great Church in Danbury, and was a member of their choir. He was active in the Boy Scouts of America, serving as committee member for Troup 9 and was District Chairman for the Fairfield County Council. He coached football at Wooster School and Pop Warner in Danbury and was active in the YMCA Indian Guides. He served as Past President of the Connecticut Water Pollution Abatement Association and enjoyed membership in the Housatonic Valley Antique Auto Club.
In addition to his wife of 50 years, Harriet, he is survived by his daughter Kimberly A. Pascuzzi of Danbury; his two grandchildren, Louis Anthony Pascuzzi, Jr., and Emma Anne Pascuzzi. He is also survived by two sisters, Josephine Lopes and her husband Oscar of New Fairfield, and Rose Parzuchowski of Bethel; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Raymond Cervera and his daughter, Lee Margaret Cervera; and a sister, Adora Cervera.
Funeral Information
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 9th at 10:00am at St. Gregory the Great Church, 85 Great Plain Road, Danbury. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 8th at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, between the hours of 4 and 8:00pm.

Laura Marie Godfrey
July 16, 1969 - October 05, 2004
Laura Marie Godfrey, of Topstone Drive, Danbury, died unexpectedly, at her home, on Tuesday, October 5th. She was born in Danbury on July 16, 1969, daughter of Richard and Marie (Morneault) Godfrey. She was a graduate of Bethel High School and was a lifetime member of the area community.
Laura loved reading, watching TV, and planting flowers with her daughters. She was a great cook. She enjoyed taking her daughters to cheerleading and softball games. She was happiest when watching her girls during their school concerts and competitions. She was so proud of them. She liked taking them fishing and swimming but her most favorite was to take them shopping.
Laura was such a loving and caring person. She was always taking in people who needed help and any stray animal that she found. Her family, friends, and the world, will truly miss her.
In addition to her parents, Richard and Marie Godfrey, of Bethel; she is survived by her three beloved daughters, Shannon Longo, Autumn Longo, and Amber Villani; her companion, Richard Penn of Danbury; her paternal grandfather, George Godfrey, Jr. of Bethel. She is also survived by her brother, Richard “Ricky” Godfrey, Jr., of Marietta, GA; her sister, Felicia Godfrey of Danbury; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Stephen Z. Kish
October 14, 1913 - October 08, 2004
Stephen Z. “Sarge” Kish, 90, husband of the late Margaret G. Kish, died at Danbury Hospital on Friday, October 08th. He was born in South Norwalk, on October 14, 1913, son of the late Stephen and Rose (Babas) Kish. He was resident of Danbury and Ridgefield.
In his younger years he was active in Norwalk Sports, he played baseball and basketball with the YPHA League. He also played for several Norwalk area football teams. He was voted as the outstanding lineman by the South Norwalk Evening Sentinel for his play in the Sunday Morning Football League.
Sarge was a Veteran of World War II, enlisted on November 20, 1940, with the United States Army, and was assigned to the First Infantry Division, 26th Infantry at Fort Devens, MA. He participated in the invasion of North Africa, Sicily, and the D-Day Invasion of Normandy. He was wounded in Germany and as a result was honorably discharged. He was awarded the Silver Service Star, Bronze Star, and the Purple Heart. He wrote many stories about his war experience, many of which were published.
Upon return to the States, Mr. Kish was a factory worker for several Norwalk area handbag manufacturers were he met his first wife, Margaret. Mrs. Kish passed away in 1985, after thirty-five years of marriage.
He worked as an Optical Edger for Perkin Elmer and retired after more than twenty-seven years of service.
During his retirement he concentrated on maintaining contact with his Army buddies. He met his second wife, Vera (Duling) Waltz through a friend. The two lived in Newman, Ill. from 1991 until her death in 2002.
Mr. Kish was a member of the King Street United Church of Christ in Danbury, was a life member in the Raymond A. Waling Post 149 of the VFW, was a former Mason with the Union Lodge 40 A.F. & A.M. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the Society of the First Infantry Division, the 26th Infantry Association, and was former member of the King Street Volunteer Fire Company.
Mr. Kish is survived by his children, Duane P. Kish of Danbury, Shelley K. Davenport of Torrington, Stephen D. Kish of New Milford, and Joyce McCarthy of Tennessee; as well as five grandchildren.
In addition to his first and second wives, he was predeceased by his brothers, William and Julius Kish; and sisters, Jennie and Helen Kish.

A Graveside Service, with military honors, will be held on Tuesday, October 12th at 11:00am. at Riverside Cemetery in Norwalk.
The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Monday, October 11th between the hours of 5 and 7:00pm.

Tom Peat
August 31, 1930 - October 22, 2003
Lovingly surrounded by his family, Tom Peat of Danbury passed from this life on Wednesday, October 22nd at Bethel Health Care Center after a short, courageous battle with melanoma.
Born in New York City on August 31, 1930, Tom was the son of the late Frank Peat and Kathleen Peat Hoffman. He attended schools in Brooklyn, New York and joined the US Navy during the Korean conflict serving aboard the aircraft carrier USS Franklin D. Roosevelt. After his discharge he joined General Motors Corporation as a millwright in their Tarrytown plant, retiring in 1993 after 38 years of service.
The expression “a family man” could have been coined for Tom. He and his wife, Rose Mary, who would have celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary on October 30th, raised their children in Danbury: a son and his wife, David and Mary Peat of Wellington, Florida and a daughter and her husband, Pamela and Desmond Rustici of Danbury. His grandchildren were his joy; Sera, David, and Rachel Peat and Alexandria and Tyler Rustici.
He will be greatly missed also by his sister and her husband, Edith and Frank Morrison of Exeter, New Hampshire, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Concetta and Robert Rondinelli of Boca Raton, Florida and many friends. Tom also leaves six nieces and two nephews and several great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his stepfather, Conrad Hoffman, a sister, Margaret Somers, and a nephew, Michael Somers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 27th at 10:00am at St. Gregory the Great Church, Danbury, with interment to follow in St. Peter Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury on Sunday, October 26th from 2 until 4pm and from 6 until 8pm.

Ruth (Fischer) Schmidt
January 27, 1924 - April 18, 2004
Ruth Louise (Fischer) Schmidt, 80, of Longview Drive, Brookfield, formerly of New Fairfield, wife of the late Albert W. “Nibs” Schmidt, went home to her Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 18th. She was born in Milford, on January 27, 1924, daughter of the late Dr. Henry C. and Anna (Gerstenmaier) Fischer.
Mrs. Schmidt was a graduate of Immanuel Lutheran School, Danbury, attended Danbury High School, and graduated from Mary A. Burnham Preparatory School, Northampton, MA. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa at Endicott College, Beverly, MA., and the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Hygiene, Philadelphia, PA.
She also completed McAllister School of Mortuary Science and was a licensed Funeral Director. Together with her husband they owned and operated the Albert W. Schmidt Funeral Home in Danbury for more than 25 years. She was previously a dental hygienist for her father, brother, Dr. Albert Kohn, DDS and until her passing for Dr. Christian Blejan, DDS at Contemporary Dentistry in Danbury.
Ruth was a lover of music and encouraged the arts and music in her family. She was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, descendant of founding Pastors William A. and Edward H. Fischer. She served in a variety of different functions as a volunteer at Immanuel Lutheran Church and School, and the American Red Cross. She was also a member of the Connecticut Dental Hygienists Association.
She will be sadly missed by her daughters, Diane Wardenburg and her husband, Joel of Brookfield, and Deborah Hollrah and her husband, Dean, of Danbury; her granddaughters, Kaitlin Louise, and Megan Elizabeth, of Danbury; her grandson, Caleb Albert of Brookfield. She is also survived by a brother, Edward J. Fischer of Marion, Il., her sister, Elizabeth F. Brownlow and her husband, Robert, of Lenox, MA; her sister-in-law, Nancy W. Fischer of New Fairfield; her brother-in-law, John Niland of Woodbury; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased in death by her brother, Dr. Paul H. Fischer, DDS.

Funeral Services will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 26 West St., Danbury, on Wednesday, April 21st, at 11:00am. Burial will follow in Wooster Cemetery, Danbury. Friends may call on Tuesday, April 20th, between the hours of 4 and 8 pm, at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury.

Robert Donald Taylor
January 04, 1939 - June 27, 2004
Robert Donald Taylor of Deer Hill Avenue, Danbury, husband of 37 years to Jacqueline (Jaquith) Taylor, died in the presence of his family, at Danbury Hospital on Sunday, June 27th. He was born in Danbury on January 4, 1939, son of Florence (Williams) Iapaluccio and the late Robert J. Taylor. He was a graduate of Danbury High School, Class of 1957.
Don was a construction contractor, owning and operating D&M Construction Services, with his son, Kristian. He was a member of the Catholic War Veterans, having served with the United States Army National Guard. He was also a member of the Porsche Club of America, and the National Home Builders Association. He was a past member of the Danbury Zoning Board of Appeals.
Don was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He was a quiet, gentle man, whose wit and wisdom was appreciated by all who knew him. In his youth he was an avid drag racer and most recently enjoyed racing his Porsche at Lime Rock racetrack. His happiest moments were spent with his family and five grandsons.
Besides his mother, Florence, and his loving wife, Jackie, he will be sadly missed by his two sons, Robert M. Taylor and his wife, Melissa, of New Fairfield; Kristian Taylor and his wife, Cheryl of Danbury; his five grandsons, Robert Connor, Ryan, and Matthew Taylor of New Fairfield, Joseph and Nicholas Taylor of Danbury. He is also survived by a brother, Michael Iapaluccio of New Fairfield; several nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law, Arlyne Jaquith, and many extended family members.
He was predeceased by his stepfather, Joseph Iapaluccio.

Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass which will be celebrated at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Cottage Street, Danbury on Wednesday, June 30th at 6:30pm Cremation and interment will take place at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. The Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, is in charge of arrangements.

Gertrude M. Such
September 27, 1922 - November 30, 2004
Gertrude M. Such, 82, of Starr Avenue, Danbury, died at Bridgeport Hospital on Tuesday, November 30th. She was born in Frankfurt, Germany, on September 27, 1922, daughter of Karl and Bertha (Young) Willrich. She was educated in New York.
Gertrude worked for in export shipping for American Cyanamide. She volunteered for Danbury Hospital and enjoyed playing cards, traveling, crocheting, and knitting. She also enjoyed bowling in a local league.
She will be sadly missed by her son, Emil R. Such of Danbury; her granddaughter, Tracy Such of New Milford; her grandson, Ryan Such of Danbury. She is also survived by her brother, Henry Willrich of Danbury and two sisters, Charlotte Farrel of Hawaii, and Margaret Dominski of Nevada; as well as several nieces and nephews.
