John L. Potenziani age 71 of Starr Ave. Danbury died at his home on Oct 27,2006 with his loving family at his side. He was the husband of Jeanette M. (Brennan) Potenziani. John was born in Danbury April 13,1935 son of the late Constantino and Theresa Messena Potenziani. He graduated from Danbury High School Class of 1953.
An Army Veteran he served in the US Photo Division in Ft. Bragg NC, Korea and Ft. Monmouth NJ and was honorable discharged as Spec. Sgt. He was employed for 22 years as custodian at the Danbury Hospital and previously worked for Castro Convertible and the First National Stores both in Danbury. John was a life time member of St. Joseph Church in Danbury and The VFW Post 854
He was past President of the Candlewood Camera Club, past member of the Castro Bowling League and the Epilepsy Foundation of America. And a member of AARP #3340.
Besides his loving and devoted wife of 38 years he is survived by his brothers Enrico J. Potenziani and his wife Rosemary of Kathleen Ga., and Donald F. Potenziani and his wife Nora of Kissiamee Fla. And his sister Carolyn Johnson and her husband Donald of Norman Arkansas. His special cousin Pat Cypher of Danbury whom he enjoyed as his partner in “Aggravation” a marble game they played together. Also several nieces, nephews and cousins will morn his loss. John was predeceased by his parents, a brother Louis and a sister Palma(Pacific)

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tues Oct 31,2006 at 10am at St. Joseph Church Danbury
Burial will take place in St. Peter Cemetery with full military honors. Friends may call at the Cornell Memorial Home 247 White St. Danbury on Monday Oct 30,2006 between the hours of 2 and 6 pm

Beatrice Downs Dring

Beatrice Downs Dring, 87, of 13 Parklawn Drive, Bethel CT died October 21, 2006 at Bethel Heath Care Center.
She was born in Newtown on October 5, 1919. She was the daughter of the late John B. and Elsie Bibbins Downs. She was the wife of the late Stanley F. Dring of Stevenson, CT. She was an active, involved resident of Heritage Village in Southbury CT for 25 years before moving to Kensington Greens. She had been a resident of The Cascades in Bethel for almost two years.
She is survived by her daughter Barbara Moissonnier and husband David of Brookfield, CT, a grandson, Michael Moissonnier and wife Diana of Peoria AZ and 3 great grandchildren, David J.II, Brian and Cheyenne, a niece Sandra Guibord and husband Russ of Bristol ME, a nephew Roger Downs and wife Nancy of Oxford NE and several great nieces and a great nephew.
She was predeceased by her sister Alice Rathgeber and husband Colin of Woodbridge, CT and by her brother J. Lawrence Downs and wife Elizabeth of Newtown, CT.
Funeral Information
The Funeral Service will be held at Riverside Community Church in Oxford, CT on Thursday, October 26 at 11 AM. Burial will take place following the service at the Riverside Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Rd., Brookfield, on Wednesday, October 25 from 4 PM to 8 PM.

Pastor Hans A. Voss
September 27, 1919 - September 20, 2003
Reverend Hans Arthur Voss, age 83, of 241 Evasham Court, Wake Forest, N.C., husband of Alice Marie (Kuhlman) Voss, passed away peacefully to the Church Triumphant on Saturday morning, September 20, 2003, at his daughter’s home in Raleigh, North Carolina. He was born in Bach, Michigan on September 27, 1919, son of the late Rev. Emil H. Voss and Esther (Bartles) Voss. He was made a member of the Body of Christ through Baptism on October 5, 1919 and joined the church militant through his confirmation on April 9, 1933.
Rev. Voss received his elementary education at Trinity Lutheran School in Monitor, Michigan and Holy Cross Lutheran School in Saginaw, Michigan. He attended Michigan Lutheran Seminar (High School) in Saginaw from 1933 to 1937. He spent two years at Concordia College in Fort Wayne, Indiana, a pre-theological training school of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod.
In 1939 he began his Seminary training at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri. In the spring of 1943, after having received his BA degree, he entered the Vicerages and served until June of 1944 in this capacity at Redeemer Lutheran Church, St. Paul, Minnesota. He graduated from Concordia Seminary on January 17, 1945 and accepted a call to serve as Missionary-at-large for the Atlantic District of the LC-MS.
On Sunday, April 8, 1945 he was ordained into the Holy Ministry by his father, The Reverend E.H.Voss, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Saginaw, Michigan. He began his ministry on the East coast by doing mission survey work in New Jersey, on Staten Island, New York and in the general Boston Massachusetts area.
In September of 1945 he was appointed to establish a Mission Church in Westerly Rhode Island which had been a preaching station for 25 years. He served Trinity in Westerly with accepting the call to Trinity Lutheran Church of Morristown, New Jersey, where he began his work in September 1951. During his ministry at Trinity the congregation purchased land and relocated in Morris Plains, New Jersey. In 1934 a new Church and Parish Hall were dedicated and in 1955 additional land and parsonage were purchased. In September of 1960 a Christian Day School was opened in temporary quarters.
In October of 1960 he accepted the call to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Danbury, and was installed as Pastor there on December 4, 1960. During his ministry at Immanuel the congregation grew from 700 to 1,100 communicant members and the staff increased from one pastor and five Christian Day School teachers to a staff of almost 20 full time and part time personnel.
In January of 1986 the call was received from Our Redeemer Chapel, New Ipswich, New Hampshire and was accepted. His last service at Immanuel was held Easter Sunday, March 30, 1986. Pastor Voss was installed at Our Redeemer Chapel on Sunday, April 27, 1986. In 1987 Noah’s Ark Kindergarten became part of Our Redeemer.
Over the past years Pastor has served as advisor to district youth organizations in New England and New Jersey. He was a staff member and Dean of many youth leadership training workshops throughout the country. He has served Synod as Circuit Counselor and for 8 years as a member of the Synod’s commission on Services to Mentally Retarded, as a member of the Board of Directors of the Lutheran Service Association, as a member of the Executive Committee.
He served on the Southbury Lutheran Home Task Force, as New England Chairman for the Concordia Bronxville Second Century Fund, the New England District Director of Synod’s Forward in Remembrance Program and as the Chairman of the Program Committee of the New England District Pastoral Conferences. For many years he served the American Red Cross in its department of Services to Military Families and as a member of the Connecticut State Committee.
While in New Ipswich, Pastor Served on the LSA Board of Directors and for several years served as Chairman. He served on the Lutheran Child and Services Committee, as well as the Bethpage Lutheran Service Board of Directors.
Pastor and his wife retired to Wake Forest, North Carolina where he was Pastor Emeritus at the LCMS Mission Church of Hope Lutheran, and was vacancy pastor for many congregations, especially Peace Lutheran Church in Glassboro, North Carolina.
Pastor Voss is survived by his "Dear Alice," wife of 58 years, Alice Marie Voss, daughters Peggy Ruopp and David of Raleigh, NC.; Karen Sardone and Gary, of Danbury, Jean Sorokin of Wake Forest, NC.; sons, John Voss of Raleigh, NC, Robert Voss of Frederick, MD, Timothy Voss and Pattie of St. Louis, MO, and Mark Voss and Suzanne of Adamstown, MD; a brother, Rev. Ted Voss of Akron, Ohio, 20 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family members and special friends. He now joins his third son, Martin, and his grandson, Jonathan Ruopp in the Church Triumphant.

Funeral Services will be held on September 26th at Immanuel Lutheran Church, West Street, Danbury at 2:00pm with Pastor Daniel Wehmeier officiating. Burial will follow in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday, September 25th at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury between the hours of 5 and 8 pm and Friday, September 26th between 1 and 2pm at Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Brian J. Murphy
June 03, 1948 - February 12, 2006
Brian J. Murphy, 57, of Crestway, New Fairfield, devoted husband of Ellen Marie (Raabe) Murphy, died in the presence of his loving family on Sunday, February 12th. He was born in the Bronx, NY. On June 3, 1948, son of the late John F. and Dorothy Murphy. He was a graduate of Henry Abbott Technical School and later received his degree in Engineering.
Brian was a Veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with the United States Army Corp of Engineers. He worked as a Mechanical Engineer for Pitney Bowes in Danbury for nineteen years.
He also worked as a real estate agent for American Realty in New Fairfield. He was a freelance home designer.
Brian enjoyed sports car racing, traveling, and loved boating and fishing with his friends on Candlewood Lake. He was a parishioner of St. Edward the Confessor Church in New Fairfield.
In addition to his wife of 10 years, Ellen, he is survived by his two daughters, Kelly Listenberger and her husband, Ronald of Naples, FL. and Patricia Alexander and her husband, Chad of Kahlua, Hawaii; his two grandchildren, Kevin Listenberger and Aislinn Alexander. He is also survived by his sisters, Janet Schork and her husband, Bill of Brookfield, Carol Murphy of New Fairfield, and Anna Cannizarro and her husband Joseph of Bethel; his nephews, Chris, Dennis, Matthew, Alexander, Connor, Maxwell and Sean; nieces, Kate, Morgan and Nicole; as well as many beloved family members.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother, John Murphy; and his sister, Evelyn Dunlap.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 18th at 10:00am at St. Edward the Confessor Church. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery.
The Family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Friday, February 17th between the hours of 2:00 – 4:00pm and 6:00 – 8:00pm.

Frank J. Bonacci Sr.
August 20, 1919 - January 31, 2007
Frank Joseph Bonacci Sr, of Danbury, devoted husband of Lucille (Donatico) Bonacci, passed away at the age of 87 on Wednesday evening, January 31, 2007 surrounded by his loving family. His death occurred following complications due to a brief illness.
Mr. Bonacci was born on August 20, 1919, in Kenilworth, Utah, the son of the late Joseph and Rose (Scalzo) Bonacci. His family moved east to Danbury when he was a young boy.
Mr. Bonacci served his country during World War II, as an Army medic attached to the 51st Coastal Artillery Unit where he spent the next four years. Upon returning to the States, Mr. Bonacci worked in the Hatting industry before beginning his career with the U.S. Postal Service. He retired in 1984 after 30 years.
Mr. Bonacci was active in the Catholic War Veterans, DAV and was proud to have been affiliated with Dream Come True Foundation. He was an active member of St. Joseph Parish in Danbury.
An exceptional local athlete, Frank enjoyed baseball, golf, bowling, and was a unanimous election and proud inductee of the Old Timers Association.
He was an inspirational father to his three sons and their wives and a loving grandfather to his six grandchildren.
He had a magnetic personality that found him attaining many friendships throughout his life.
In addition to his beloved wife of 62 years, Lucille, he is survived by his sons, Joseph and his wife, Patricia of Danbury, John of New Fairfield, and Frank, Jr. and his wife, Joan of Newtown. He dearly loved his six grandchildren, Carlene of Danbury, Anthony and his wife, Marlene of Danbury, Melissa May and her husband, Greg of Virginia, Anne of New Fairfield, Diana and Lauren of Newtown. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Lou Pasquarella of Danbury.
He was predeceased by his two brothers, Michael and Dominick; and his daughter-in-law, Deborah.

Rosa Suarez

Rosa Suarez
Rosa Suarez, age 97, formerly of Brookfield, passed away on February 1, 2007 at the Hancock Hall Care Facility.
Rosa was born on May 7, 1909 in Ecuador. Rosa moved to the United States with her daughter Reyna in 1971. Rosa was predeceased by her husband, Jose Suarez, who died in 1948.
She is survived by her loving and devoted children: Nelson Suarez of Venezuela, Adalberto Suarez of Florida, and Reyna Koeppen of Brookfield. In addition to her husband, Rosa was preceded in death by her sons, Alonzo and Clarion, and daughters, Norma and Brumilda. Rosa had 16 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Rosa devoted her life to the care and enjoyment of her family, as well as cooking for all of them.

Jean E. McCabe
November 13, 1928 - January 28, 2007
Jean E. (Mazurak) McCabe, 78 of Brookfield, CT passed away peacefully January 28, 2007 at home. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Joseph A. McCabe. Jean was born November 13, 1928 in Mount Kisco N.Y., the son of the late Charles & Fanny (Ingersoll) Mazurak.
The family moved to Bedford, N.Y. when she was 6 months old where she attended NY schools. She enjoyed positions in banking, bookkeeping and Real Estate and was an avid reader.
A Brookfield resident for 37 years, she cherished her role as a mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her 9 children and their spouses; Sheila and Gary Goehrke; Laurie and David Batchelor; Kerry and Cathy McCabe; Joseph S. and Cathi McCabe; Colleen and Michael Stryker; Bonnie and Michael Novak; Patrick and Sharon McCabe; Glenn and Grace McCabe; Daniel McCabe; along with 11 Grandchildren, 3 Step-Grandchildren and 2 Step-Great-Grandchildren. She is also survived by 2 sisters, Dorothy Rossi and Virgina Palmer as well as several nieces and nephews.
Jean’s strength of character, sense of humor and commitment to family will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know her.
