Stephen Frederick Kost Jr. of Bolton Landing, N.Y., a former Stamford resident, died Tuesday, June 13, 2000 at Glens Falls Hospital in Glens Falls, N.Y. He was 71.

Dominic Makowski

Dominic Makowski, a longtime Stamford resident, died Tuesday, June 13, 2000 at Stamford Hospital. He was 82.

Constance Pratt

Constance "Connie" Pratt of Leucadia, Calif., a former Stamford resident, died Sunday, June 11, 2000 at Simi Valley Adventist Hospital. She was 77.

Renate Bennett

Renate Bennett, a longtime New Canaan resident, died Friday, June 16, 2000 at Norwalk Hospital. She was 61.

Kathleen F. Cassidy

Kathleen Frances Cassidy of Killingly, a former Stamford and Port Chester, N.Y., resident, died Wednesday, June 14, 2000 at Roncolli Nursing Home in Waterford. She was 61.

Angela M. Catino

Angela Milton Catino of Vero Beach, Fla., a former Stamford resident, died Thursday, June 1, 2000 at Palm Garden Nursing Home in Vero Beach. She was 66.

Frank Chiappetta

Frank "Chippy" Chiappetta, a lifelong Greenwich resident, died Wednesday, June 21, 2000 at Greenwich Laurelton Nursing & Convalescent Home. He was 90.

Joseph E. Coplon Sr.

Joseph E. Coplon Sr., a longtime Stamford resident, died Saturday, June 17, 2000 at Stamford Hospital. He was 48.

Alvine Dzirkalis

Alvine Dzirkalis, a longtime Stamford resident, died Monday, June 19, 2000 at home. She was 99.

Bertram R. MacMannis

Bertram R. MacMannis, a Darien resident, died Tuesday, June 20, 2000 at Stamford Hospital. He was 81.

C. Robert Talmage, a longtime New Canaan resident, died Monday, June 19, 2000 at Fairfield Manor Convalescent Home in Norwalk. He was 87.

Joseph W. Flynn Sr. of Greenwich, a former Stamford resident, died Monday, June 19, 2000 at Greenwich Laurelton Nursing and Convalescent Home. He was 79.

Janice Isentol

Janice Chambers Isentol of Milford, a former longtime Stamford resident, died Thursday, June 22, 2000 at home. She was 50.

Marie Louise Jimenez

Marie Louise Jimenez of Stamford died Monday, June 19, 2000 at Mediplex Health Care Center in Stamford. She was 90.

Raymond E. May

Raymond Earl May, a longtime Stamford resident, died Tuesday, June 20, 2000 at Stamford Hospital. He was 61.

Richard Sassenberg

Richard Sassenberg of Stamford, a former Mamaroneck, N.Y., resident, died Thursday, June 22, 2000 at Edgehill Health Care Center in Stamford. He was 74.

Anthony L. Orgera

Anthony L. Orgera, a lifelong Stamford resident, died Saturday, June 24, 2000 at the Alzheimer's Resource Center of Connecticut in Southington. He was 76.

Guy S. Parks Jr.

Guy S. Parks Jr. of Readfield, Maine, a former Norwalk resident, died Wednesday, June 21, 2000 at home. He was 71.

Angelina Barone LaPerchia,

a retired bookkeeper and office manager formerly of New Canaan, died Sunday, June 25, 2000 at Nathaniel Witherell nursing home in Greenwich. She was 81.

She died of natural causes, according to her niece, Susan Boccanfuso of Greenwich.

Born Jan. 4, 1919, in Greenwich, she was a daughter of the late Gennaro and Camilia Pucci Barone.

She attended Cos Cob School and graduated in 1937 from Greenwich High School. She lived in New Canaan until retiring at the age of 65.

Mrs. LaPerchia was employed by I-Sis Chemicals in Springdale for 25 years.

She is survived by a sister, Nicoletta Sessa of Stamford; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Pasquale LaPerchia; three brothers, Frank Barone, Albert Barone and Joseph Baruno; and three sisters, Mary Pellegrino, Rose Tiriolo and Carmela Capossela.

There are no calling hours.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 28, 2000 at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Greenwich.

Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, North Street, Greenwich.

Castiglione Funeral Home in Greenwich is handling arrangements.

Donations my be made to a charity of one's choice.

Anthony L. Orgera,

a lifelong Stamford resident, died Saturday, June 24, 2000 at the Alzheimer's Resource Center of Connecticut in Southington. He was 76.

He died of complications of Alzheimer's disease, according to his family.

Born June 21, 1924, in New York City, he was a son of the late Michael and Theolinda Orgera.

He graduated from Rogers School, Stamford High School and Wofford College in Spartanburg, S.C.

Mr. Orgera was a World War II veteran, serving as an Army medic as part of the pipeline outfit on Omaha Beach during the D-Day invasion. The outfit was responsible for digging gas lines for tanks on the beachhead during the invasion.

After the war, Mr. Orgera became a Stamford fireman and schoolteacher. He retired from both professions in 1976.

He is survived by three daughters, Toni Buchetto of Stamford, Alyson Orgera McNamara of Windsor Locks and Kimberly Orgera of Norwalk; a son, Perry "Bo" Orgera of Englewood, Fla.; a brother, Dr. Walter L. Orgera of Stamford; a sister, Evelyn Frate of Darien; eight grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Bette Jean Orgera, in 1989.

There will be a memorial service at 7 p.m. today, June 27, 2000 at Grace Free Evangelical Church, 241 Courtland Ave., Stamford.

A graveside service will be held in Greer, S.C., 2000 at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to the Felician Adult Day Care Center, Route 5, Enfield, CT 06082.

George E. Pitney,

a Greenwich native who was active in the Greenwich community and banking industry, died Saturday, June 24, 2000 at Nathaniel Witherell nursing home. He was 68.

He died of pneumonia, according to his family.

Born April 25, 1932, in Greenwich, he was a son of the late George Emerson Pitney and Clara Fagan Pitney.

He was a 1951 graduate of Greenwich High School. Mr. Pitney was a graduate of Northwestern University and Indiana University Graduate School.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955 and received the National Defense Service Ribbon and the Good Conduct Medal.

Mr. Pitney's banking career spanned 28 years, with 22 of those years at Greenwich Federal Savings and Loan Association, now First Union, where he was a vice president. He also had served as vice president of Connecticut Bank and Trust, the Stamford Savings and Loan Association and the Connecticut Community Bank, all in Greenwich.

Mr. Pitney had been an instructor with the American Institute of Banking and the American Savings and Loan Institute.

After retiring from banking, he had careers as an Internal Revenue Service tax examiner and in real estate in Greenwich.

Mr. Pitney served as president of the Greenwich Salvation Army Service Unit, the Greenwich Credit Bureau, the Greenwich Junior Chamber of Commerce and the Greenwich Scholarship Council. He had been vice president of the Greenwich Lions Club, treasurer of Boy Scout Troop I and a past director of the American Red Cross, Greenwich chapter. Additionally, he was a member of Greenwich Knights of Columbus, Orinoco Council 39 and the Improved Order of Red Men, Mayn Mayano Tribe.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Vivian Papcun Pitney of Greenwich; two sons, Dave Pitney of Longmont, Colo., and Phil Pitney of Danville, Calif.; a daughter, Priscilla Sterne of Old Greenwich; a brother, Bert Pitney of San Diego; a sister, Margaret Lally of Greenwich; and two grandsons.

Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 28, 2000 at the Castiglione Funeral Home, 134 Hamilton Ave., Greenwich.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, June 29, 2000 at Sacred Heart Church in Greenwich. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Greenwich Adult Day Care Center at Nathaniel Witherell Nursing Home, Parsonage Road, Greenwich, CT 06830.
