Mary E. Lynch
July 20, 1918 - April 07, 2009
Mary Elena (Mohyde) Lynch, of Danbury, wife of the late Bernard J. Lynch, passed away peacefully, at her home, on April 7th. She was born in Bridgeport on July 20, 1918, daughter of the late John and Elena (Mullins) Mohyde. She was the oldest of ten children.
Mary attended St. Charles Catholic School, Harding High School, in Bridgeport, St. Francis Nursing School in Hartford and went on to Boston Lying – In Hospital in Boston, specializing in neonatal obstetrics.
Mary had a full and eventful life. After graduating from nursing school, she boarded a bus with a friend and went to Florida. She lived there a brief time and then moved back to Bridgeport. Mary then joined the Army with the rank of 1st LT and served in the European Theater during World War II. She returned home and married the love of her life, Bernard. They settled in Brookfield and were original members of St. Joseph’s Parish. Mary was the first school nurse at St. Joseph and Center School in Brookfield, and from there to Huckleberry Hill School where she worked until her retirement in 1983 after 17 years. As if working as a school nurse wasn’t enough, Mary also worked at Danbury Hospital emergency room for over a decade. She served on the Brookfield Board of Education from 1957 – 1965, was a founding member of the Women’s Democratic Club of Brookfield in 1954 and served as secretary and treasurer. She was also a founding member of the 55 and Over Club of St. Joseph Church.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Mary Bourne of Newport, RI, Kate Lamson (Paul) of Danbury, Denise Augusewicz (Henry) of Danbury, and Christine Lynch of Windsor, CA; her grandchildren, Brian and Bridget Bourne, Meghan (Lamson) Cline, Moira Lamson, and Elena Augusewicz; her great granddaughter, Molly Cline. She is also survived by her sisters, Charlotte DiCamillo of Stratford, Zita Carrano of Stratford, Jackelena Beausoleil (James) of Shelton; her brothers, Leonard, Gerard (Margaret), and Tom Mohyde, all of Stratford, Charles Mohyde of Bridgeport, and Finton Mohyde (Marylou) of Stoneham, MA; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother, Jack Mohyde.
Mary’s family would like to extend special thanks to Bridie Joyce, her longtime caregiver and friend.
Funeral Information
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 14th at 10:00am at St. Joseph Church, Brookfield. Burial will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford.
The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Monday between the hours of 4:00 and 7:00pm.

Jose Antonio Soegaard Jr.
November 11, 1956 - April 02, 2009
José Antonio “Tony” Soegaard, Jr., age 52, of Far Horizons Drive, Bethel, cherished husband of Elizabeth “Libby” Soegaard, died at Danbury Hospital on Thursday, April 2nd. He was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico on November 11, 1956, son of José and Gloria (Gonzalez) Soegaard of Palmer, Puerto Rico.
Tony received his B.S in Civil Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez in 1978, and completed his M.S in Engineering at Texas A&M in 1980. He was the proud owner and president of Penmar Industries, Inc. in South Norwalk, CT.
A man of selfless character, he devoted his life to the comfort and happiness of his family. His greatest joy was found in the love he had for his wife, Libby; their home was always filled with the flowers he brought as reminders of his devotion. His youthful adoration for her was most apparent as he spun and dipped her while dancing to the salsa and merengue rhythms of his childhood.
Inspired by his namesake, St. Joseph, the patron saint of fathers, he loved every aspect of his life as the father of José III and Javier Andrés. He relished every opportunity to be a part of his children’s lives, taking the time to coach youth sports teams or attend his sons’ concerts and plays. He shared with his sons a love for baseball, golf, Latino culture and, above all, service to others. That he reserved his tears for their most shining and important moments speaks volumes to the love and pride he had for his two sons. Yet he did not reserve this love only for his immediate family, as regularly visiting family and friends in Puerto Rico and welcoming his wife’s family from El Salvador to Connecticut every summer.
Tony considered much of this spirit of familiarity and hospitality as fruits of his Catholic faith. He was a favorite cantor at Sunday Masses at St. Mary Parish, Bethel. His bilingual renditions of popular hymns brought tears to faithful eyes. Inspired by the Gospel’s call to work for justice through charity, he was an active member in the Knights of Columbus Pavia Council and a regular volunteer at Danbury’s Dorothy Day Hospitality House.
Tony was proud of his family heritage, actively engaged in the Latino community in Connecticut, supporting organizations such as the Latino Scholarship Fund, Puerto Ricans in Management and Executive Roles, and the Connecticut Minority Supplier Development Council. Beyond his work at Penmar Industries, Tony also served on the board of Directors of the Spectape Inc., one of the most recognized manufacturers of pressure sensitive tapes in the US, since 2001. He was a member of the Connecticut Business and Industry Association (CBIA) Small Manufacturers and served as Chairman of the Institute of Packaging Professionals Scholarship Fund, which raises funds for college students in the packaging and industrial engineering fields, since 2001.
In addition to his parents and his beloved wife of 27 years, Libby, he will be sadly missed by his sons, José A. Soegaard, III of New York City, and Javier A.S. Soegaard of Bethel; his brother, Ricardo Soegaard and his wife, Cindy of Puerto Rico; his sister, Glorimar Soegaard of Puerto Rico; his mother-in-law, Abuelee Penders of El Salvador; his sister-in-law, Sandra, and her children, Benjamin and Maureen Penders. He is also survived by his in-laws, James and Mae Penders; Chris Penders and his wife, Roxanne; Marissa and Mike Maroni; Kelly and JT Welden and Ryane Penders as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.
Funeral Information
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 16th at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary Church, Bethel. Interment will be held privately.
The family will receive friends at St. Mary Church, Bethel on Wednesday, April 15th, between the hours of 4:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.

Richard G. Gustavson III
August 26, 1984 - May 07, 2009
Richard G. Gustavson, III, age 24, of Hardscrabble Road, Sherman, died in Danbury on Thursday, May 7th. He was born in Danbury on August 26, 1984, cherished son of Richard G. and Patricia A. (Bongo) Gustavson. He was a graduate of Immaculate High School, Class of 2003, and was currently attending Western Connecticut State University.
Richard worked as an IT Analyst for Connolly Consulting in Wilton. He was a loving son who was devoted to his family. He enjoyed playing with the Danbury Men’s Hockey League, and was an avid NY Rangers Fan. He loved computers and computer science, but his happiest times were spent with his cousins, Jake, Julia and Anthony.
In addition to his parents, Richard and Patricia, he will be sadly missed by his two brothers, Bryan R. Gustavson and his fiancé Alix Linthicum of New Fairfield, and Michael A. Gustavson of Sherman; his paternal grandparents, Richard and Patrice Gustavson of New Fairfield; his maternal grandparents, Robert and Lisabeth Bongo of Danbury; as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Funeral Services will be held at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury on Tuesday, May 12th at 11:00am. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, New Fairfield.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday morning between the hours of 9:00 and 11:00am.

Adella I. Williams
January 04, 1924 - May 08, 2009
Adella I. (Wentland) Williams, age 85, of Southbury, devoted wife of 64 years to Eugene S. Williams, Sr. died at Danbury Hospital on Friday, May 8th. She was born in Bristol on January 4, 1924, daughter of the late Robert and Emily (Rindfleisch) Wentland. She was a graduate of Bristol High School, Class of 1942.
Mrs. Williams was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was a loving homemaker who devoted her life to her family and home. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her beloved husband, Eugene, she will be sadly missed by her son, Eugene S. Williams, Jr. of Thomaston; her two daughters, Rebecca Krestofetz of Brookfield, and Jamie Dixon of Marietta, GA; her eight grandchildren, Brittany, Spencer, and Nicholas Williams, Adrienne McBrien and her husband, Travis, Tyler Keur, Kara Krestofetz, James. W. Dixon III and his wife, Erin, and USN Petty Officer Paul Dixon and his wife, Micole; her two great grandchildren, Charlotte and Jason Dixon. She is also survived by two brothers, Robert Wentland and his wife, Marty, and George Wentland and his wife, Jean; her four sisters, Rufine Hein, Wilhemina Reaves, Caroline Haupt, and Frances Parker and her husband, Judd; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother, Paul Wentland.

Funeral Services will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Clapboard Ridge Road, Danbury on Wednesday, May 13th at 11:00am. Burial will follow in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.

Colin F. Thomas
July 15, 1935 - May 07, 2009
Colin F. Thomas, age 73, of Candlewood Lake Road, Brookfield, husband of 40 years to the late Bridget (Coady) Thomas, died peacefully at his home on Thursday, May 7th. He was born in Cardiff, Wales, UK on July 15, 1935, son of the late Thomas F. and Edna (Jones) Thomas.
Mr. Thomas was a tool and die model maker for DuPont, Co., in Newtown. He was also a night school teacher at Henry Abbott Technical School, and was instrumental in the development of the DuPont Apprentice Program. He loved soccer, especially the English Primeir League. He also enjoyed Women’s UConn Basketball, and was a supporter of the Brookfield High School Sports Program.
He will be sadly missed by his cherished daughters, Sian Thomas-Valentine and her husband, Mark of Medina, Ohio, and Samantha Thomas-Boelke of Brookfield; his four grandchildren, Blake and Bridget Boelke, Grant and Quinn Valentine. He is also survived by his two brothers-in-law, Michael Coady and his wife, Julia of UK, and John Coady and his wife, Bettina of Germany; his two sisters-in-law, Ann Coady, Patricia Rice and her husband, James, all of the UK; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Elsie Campbell
April 15, 1909 - April 30, 2009
Elsie Campbell, 100, a longtime Connecticut resident, affectionately called “Me’mere” by her loved ones, departed this world peacefully, in the presence of her family, on April 30th in Fayetteville, Ohio. She was born in New Brunswick, Canada on April 15, 1909, daughter of the late Fred and Alice Michaud.
Elsie was the beloved wife of 41 years to the late Miles Campbel. The two made their home in Norwalk, and later to Ridgefield, where they resided until Miles’ death in 1969.
Elsie led a remarkable life that took her from the Northeast, to the Colorado Rockies, California, and back to the East Coast and Ohio.
While living in Brookfield, Elsie was an active member of the community, volunteering at Bethel Health Care and the Pope John Paul Center, where she often prayed the rosary with patients. She also sang in the choir at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church.
Elsie’s boundless energy, ready laugh, and superb cooking will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Elsie is survived by her daughter, Rena, 9 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and 20 great great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Anita; her sister, Rena; brothers, Willard and Norman; and by two grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00am at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church in Brookfield. Interment will follow in St. John’s/St. Mary’s Cemetery in Norwalk. There are no calling hours.

Henry W. Szymanski Sr.
October 15, 1931 - June 05, 2009
Henry W. Szymanski, Sr., of Olive Street, Danbury, husband of the late Joan Marie (Kozubski) Szymanski, died peacefully at Danbury Hospital on Friday, June 5th. He was born in Jersey City, NJ on October 15, 1931, son of the late Stanley and Victoria Szymanski.
Henry was a Veteran of the Korean War, serving with the United States Air Force. He worked as a machinist for Eaton Corporation in Bethel for more than 30 years. Throughout his career as a machinist, he also worked as a professional photographer. He was a graduate of Danbury School of Aeronautics, and was an avid recreational pilot. Upon his retirement, he continued to work at various jobs, and was currently a shuttle driver for Avis Rental Car.
He was a former volunteer fire fighter and supporter of the Beaver Brook Fire House. He was also a member of the Concordia and was a parishioner of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church.
He will be sadly missed by his two sons, Henry W. Szymanski, Jr. and his wife, Nancy LaRose, and Brian K. Szymanski and his wife, Dawn, all of Danbury; his daughter, Carol Victoria V. Zarra and her husband, Gerry of Cheshire; and his six grandchildren, Caryn, Erica, Matthew, Steven, Charles and Jacob. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews; and extended family, especially the Pudelko Family.
He was predeceased by his two brothers, George R. and Louis Szymanski.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 10th at 10:00am at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.

Nehemiah Lyman "Fuzzy" Keeler
November 28, 1913 - April 07, 2005
Nehemiah Lyman �Fuzzy� Keeler, 91, of Ridgebury Road, Ridgefield, husband of the late Janet (Wixon) Keeler, passed away in the �Pink House,� the same place of his birth, on Thursday, April 7th. He was born on November 28, 1913, son of the late Lyman and Mabel (Hartwell) Keeler.
Fuzzy worked at the family diary farm until 1961. He then owned a trucking and moving business for many years. He later worked at the Ridgefield Recreational Center and retired at the age of 90. He was an avid hunter, gardener, and animal lover but his true love was motorcycle riding. He received many �oldest rider awards� at rally and rode up until the Summer of 2004.
He is survived by his son, Peter L. Keeler and his wife, Lynn of Ridgefield; his daughters, Polly K. Truzzolino and her husband John of Germany, and Penny K. LoValvo and her husband Ron of Danbury; his two beloved granddaughters, Caitlin Keeler and Corrine LoValvo and many devoted friends.

There will be no services, at the request of Fuzzy. Instead, in his memory, take a long ride the first nice Sunday.
