Fred G. Standt

July 27, 1927 - April 07, 2010

Fred G. Standt, of South Mountain Road in Brookfield, died with his family by his side on April 7, 2010 at Danbury Hospital. He was born in Queens, NY on July 27, 1927 to the late William and Catherine. He attended New York City Public Schools, Jamaica High School, and New Paltz State Teachers College. He was a World War II veteran who served in the U.S. Navy from 1944-46. Upon falling in love with his wife of 59 years Audrey (Ermentraut), Fred moved to Brookfield in 1950 and lived for the rest of his life in the home where he raised his family.

A career sales professional, Fred retired from Carter-Wallace, Inc. in 1992. Fred epitomized the Rotary International philosophy of “service above self” as he served Brookfield and the surrounding area in many capacities including service on the Brookfield Planning Commission, Republican Town Committee, Substance Abuse Coalition, and Board of Finance. He also served on the Charter Cable Access Advisory Board, as a Deputy Sheriff in Fairfield County, on the Kings Mark Environmental Review Task Force, and helped expand the Rotary Club of Brookfield.

A longtime member of Saint Joseph Church, he performed in many of the Minstrel Shows, served as an usher, participated in founding Boy Scout Troop 8, and helped coordinate the Catholic Men’s Retreats and numerous other church functions. He was an avid fan of the New York Giants, New York Mets (after the demise of the Brooklyn Dodgers), and the UConn men’s and women’s basketball teams. He loved great stories, attending his grandchildren’s sporting and theatrical events, and standing up for the rights of citizens and taxpayers.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Richard of Point Pleasant NJ, Nancy Grimes and her husband Joe, Susan Feigin, and Roger and his wife Almeda – all of Brookfield; seven grandchildren Matt, Mark, and Emily Grimes, Nick Standt, Charlie and Audrey Feigin, and Robert Standt. In addition his sister-in-law Rosemary Ermentraut, brother-in-law Bill Martin, niece Colleen Martins and her family, all of Brookfield, as well as several cousins and many friends. Besides his parents, Fred was predeceased by his brother William and his sister-in-law MaryLou Martin.

Funeral Information

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM at Saint Joseph Church in Brookfield on Monday, April 12 with Monsignor Lawrence Carroll presiding.

Friends may call at the Brookfield Funeral Home from 4 to 8 PM on Sunday, April 11.

Donations Information

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Fred’s name to the Holy Family Passionist Retreat Center in West Hartford or to a charity of one’s choice.

Hank Natale

January 19, 1941 - April 06, 2010

Henry F. Natale, lovingly known as Hank, of Eustis Avenue, Danbury, died at his home on Tuesday, April 6th. He was born in Danbury on January 19, 1941, son of the late Francis and Margaret (Barbaratto) Natale. He was a graduate of Henry Abbott Technical School and was a lifelong member of the community.

Hank owned and operated H&D Automotive in Danbury for many years. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. He was an avid racing fan and former head mechanic of a Featherlite Modified Racing Team. He also enjoyed golf, and making his own delicious wine to share with family and friends.

He will be sadly missed by his daughter, Lisa DiTullio of Brookfield; his granddaughter, Lauren; his three brothers, Samuel and his wife, AnneMarie, Michael and Ronald Natale, all of Danbury; his three sisters, Marie Landolfi of Cranston, RI, Rita Casey and her husband, Charles of New Fairfield, and Lucy Hrabcsak and her husband, Rudy of Danbury. He is also survived by his longtime companion and fiancé, Patricia Lamphier of Danbury; his godchild, Kathleen Lamphier of Arlington, MA; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his sister, Patricia; and his brothers, Robert, Ralph and Sylvester Natale.

Funeral Information

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 12th at 10:00am at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Sunday between the hours of 2:00 and 5:00pm.

Karen Paulette Latham

March 14, 1954 - April 16, 2010

Karen P. (Tallman) Latham, 56, of Danbury, died peacefully at her home on Friday, April 16th. She was born in Danbury on March 14, 1954, beloved daughter of Carol (DeMond) Tallman, and the late Paul Tallman. She was a graduate of Danbury High School and Naugatuck Valley Community College.

Karen worked as a CNA at Village Crest in New Milford for the past four years, and previously at Bethel Healthcare. She enjoyed puzzles, reading and singing. In the past, she was an active volunteer for the Community Action Committee of Danbury.

Most importantly, Karen was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her family was the center of her life and they will miss her deeply.

Karen is survived by two sons, Charlie W. (Chuck) Latham, Jr. and wife Genevieve of Orlando, FL, and Christopher S. Latham of Danbury; three daughters, Michelle Y. Tallman of Waterbury, Charlene A. Latham of Danbury, LaCresia A. Johnson of Waterbury; 17 grandchildren, Adam, Malcolm, Aaron, Michael, Christopher Jr., Kerri, Zion, Jay’Meir, Joshua, Cameron, Messiah, Shalina, Sharmeta, Sharteea, Christina, Sharneaa, Jaeda; eight great-grandchildren, Savian, Sharaja, Tae'Quanah, Yaniah, I’Yonnah, Imani and Omari; her mother Carol, of Danbury; two brothers, Scott Tallman of N. Carolina, Mark Tallman of Colorado; three sisters, Tatinishia Franklin of N. Carolina, Gail Tallman of Danbury and Nancy Tallman of Waterbury and a host of nieces and nephews.

Karen was preceded in death by her brother, Paul Tallman, Jr., her sister Brenda Thomas and a great-granddaughter, Malaysia.

Funeral Information

Funeral Services will be held at New Hope Baptist Church on Friday, April 23rd at 12 Noon. Burial will follow in Wooster Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church on Friday morning between the hours of 10:00am and 12:00pm.

Cynthia Ann Dunn

September 03, 1974 - May 17, 2010

Cynthia Ann Dunn, age 35, of Wolcott, died on Monday, May 17th in Cheshire. She was born in Danbury on September 3, 1974, beloved daughter of Suzanne (Hirt) Dunn of Port Charlotte, FL, and the late John M. Dunn. She was a graduate of Danbury High School, Class of 1992, and attended Western Connecticut State University for two years. She was a former parishioner of St. Gregory the Great Church.

Cindy worked as a project accountant for Control Systems, Inc. She was an active Girl Scout Troop Leader in Wolcott, who also volunteered as Service Unit Manager, Council Trainer, and served on several Girl Scout committees for the Girl Scouts of Connecticut. She also coached softball in Wolcott.

Cindy was a loving mother, daughter, sister and friend.

In addition to her mother, Suzanne, she will be sadly missed by her cherished children, Patrick J. Cannon, Jr. and Elizabeth A. Cusack; her twin sister, Victoria White and her husband, Christopher of SC; her brother, Brian Dunn and his wife, Kyla of MD; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral Information

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, May 24th at 11:00am at St. Gregory the Great Church. Cremation will take place at the direction of the family.

The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Sunday, May 23rd between the hours of 2:00 and 5:00pm.

William Joseph Dean

December 26, 1963 - May 09, 2010

William J. Dean, age 46, formerly of Danbury, died in Glen, New Hampshire on Monday, May 9th of cancer. He was born in Danbury on December 26, 1963, son of Doris Anderson of Baltimore, MD, and the late William Dean.

William was a cook at many local restaurants in the Danbury area.

In addition to his mother, Doris, he is survived by his stepfather, Robert; his children, Tiffany and Sean McNaulty of Danbury; his companion, Dorothy Miller of New Hampshire; and his maternal grandmother, Doris Pesente of Bethel. He is also survived by his sister, Cheryl Gaylord of Southbury; his brothers, Brent and Brian Pesente of Baltimore, MD; his uncles, John Pesente and his wife, Mary of MA, Joseph Pesente and his wife, Jo-Ann of New Milford; his aunt, Carley Pesente of Bethel; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Information

Friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Saturday, May 22nd at St. Peter Cemetery at 9:30am. There are no calling hours.

Memorial Contributions may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society.

Thomas R. Neary

February 09, 1921 - May 15, 2010

Thomas R. Neary “Ray,” 89, of Stony Hill Village, Brookfield, husband of the late Nora Neary, died at his home on Saturday, May 15th. He was born in New York City on February 9, 1921, son of the late Thomas and Bridget (Horkan) Neary. He attended Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY.

Mr. Neary was a Veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Marine Corps. He worked as a sales manager for AT&T, retiring after 30 years.

He was an active parishioner of St. Gregory the Great Church, and the Senior Citizens group. He was a member of the Brookfield Senior Center, and the Newbury Men’s Club. He was also active in Daily Bread, providing donated food to needy families.

He will be sadly missed by his daughter, Patricia Reape and her husband, Robert of Danbury; his four grandchildren, Kathleen Reape Capone and her husband, Matthew, Tricia, Colleen and Marianne Reape; as well as four nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his two brothers, John Francis, and Paul Roy; and his sister, Sr. Mary Leocadia.

Funeral Information

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 20th at 10:00am at St. Gregory the Great Church. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Wednesday between the hours of 3:00 – 5:00 and 7:00 – 9:00pm.

John Conklin

November 17, 1963 - May 17, 2010

John Conklin, 46 of Ridgefield, died Monday May 17,2010, at his home.

Born in Danbury, Nov.17,1963, he was the son of the late Frederick G. and Margaret L. (Regan) Conklin. John attended Bethel Schools.

He was a School Bus Driver in Ridgefield.

John was a member of the National Rifle Association and the North American Hunting and Fishing Club. He enjoyed his 15 nieces and nephews and spending time with his family and friends.

Survived by two brothers: George Conklin (Christine) of Sandy Hook, Fred G Conklin of FL and six sisters, Shirley Spencer (Mark) of Danbury, Margaret Stoddard (Robert) of Canada, Cindy Clark (Rick) of New Milford, Jean Murray (Rusty) of Bethel, Mildred Conklin of ME, and Barbara Savage of Waterbury.

Predeceased by his sister, Joyce Licthenburger.

Funeral Information

Friends may call on Friday May 21, 2010 from 9:00am to 10:00am at Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury.

Funeral service will be held Friday at 10:00 am at Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury

Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Bethel.

Doris F. Melosh

October 29, 1927 - May 21, 2010

Doris F. Melosh, age 82, of New Milford, wife of the late Edward Melosh, died peacefully at Candlewood Valley Health and Rehab, on Friday, May 21st. She was born in Rockville Centre, New York on October 29, 1927, daughter of the late Jerome and Ruth (Feist) Eschwege.

Mrs. Melosh worked for many years at Strykers in Bethel, and later in customer service for Grolier, retiring at age 63. Upon retirement, she enjoyed volunteering at the Gift Shop in New Milford Hospital. She was also a member of AARP #3241 in New Milford and attended the Senior Center.

She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Nancy J. Miller and her husband, John, with whom she made her home; her granddaughters, Kristy Miller-Spaulding and her husband, Richard of Thomaston, and Stacey A. Miller of Danbury; her brother, Arnold Eschwege and his wife, Rhoda. She is also survived by her cousin, Lee Feist and his wife, Addie, her three nieces; and her dear friends, Noreen Soltes, Charlene McNiff, and Ruth Gottlieb; as well as many other friends.

In addition to her second husband, Edward, she was predeceased by her first husband, Seymour Jarmofsky; and her sister, Leone Wildhagen.

Funeral Information

Graveside services will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, May 25th at Cedar Park Cemetery, Westwood, New Jersey. Rabbi David Fass of Temple Beth Shalom will officiate.

The family will receive friends at the Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Road, Brookfield, on Monday between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00pm.

Laura Jean Mancini

March 14, 1955 - March 03, 2010

Laura Jean Mancini, age 54 of Danbury, died on Wednesday, March 3 at her home on Smith Street in Danbury. She was born on March 14, 1955 at Danbury Hospital, the daughter of June Mancini and the late Steve Mancini.

A graduate of Danbury High School and Americo Academy of Beauty Culture, she worked as a stylist, salon owner, and teacher in Danbury and Ridgefield. At the time of her death, she was employed by the Adam Broderick Salon in Ridgefield. She was active in numerous religious, community and animal rescue programs.

Laura is survived by her mother June and two brothers, Gary and John.

Funeral Information

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 12th, at 10:00am at St. Joseph Church, Danbury. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.

Friends may call on Thursday, March 11th, from 4:00 to 8:00pm at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury.
