JEANNE (FLANNIGAN, MULHOLLAND) ZADROGA
Jeanne Zadroga of Niantic died on January 26, 2015. She was born in Portland on February 26, 1928 and was the daughter of the late John Flannigan and Diana (Begley). Jean was retired from CT Valley Hospital and Riverview Hospital.
She is survived by three children, Patricia Mulholland of Florida, Richard Zadroga and his wife Lisa Nielson of Tolland, and Robert Zadroga of Niantic with whom she made her home. Also, five grandchildren; William Mulholland and his partner Laura Kelly of Pennsylvania, Jean Marie Mulholland of New London, Darlene Holloway and her husband James of Groton, Ian and Amy Zadroga of Tolland; also three great-grand children, Lucas Mulholland of Pennsylvania, Sebastian and Sophia Holloway of Groton, one brother, James Flannigan and his wife Janet of Middletown. She was pre-deceased by her son, William Mulholland and two brothers, John and Harold Flannigan, also a beloved companion, “Rocky” the greyhound for nine and a half years, until his death in December 2013. Many thanks to Michael and Donna, Carlene and Charles, Debbie and Barry for all their help.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, April 25th at 10am in the family plot at St. Mary Cemetery, Portland. Family and friends are welcome to attend. The Coughlin-Lastrina Funeral Home, 491 High Street, Middletown is in charge of arrangements.

LOUISE CECCHINI LOGANO
Louise Cecchini Logano, 93, most recently of Mooresville, NC, died peacefully at her home on Friday, April 10, 2015. She was born in Middletown, CT on Jan 17, 1922 the daughter of Cesare and Catherine (Lisi) Cecchini. Louise grew up in the North End of Middletown where she attended St John's School. Before graduating high school Louise left school to nurse her ailing mother. During World War II she worked in one of the many factories in Middletown helping to support the war effort. After the war, she met and won the heart of Salvatore (Butch) Logano, and they were married on October 25, 1947 in Middletown. They were married for 62 years and resided in Portland, CT. Salvatore founded, owned and operated S. Logano Waste Removal and Louise was by his side, helping manage the business for many years. Louise was a communicant at St Mary's Church of Portland and was actively involved with the St Mary's Guild. She also had volunteered at Middlesex Memorial Hospital and at the Newington Children's Hospital. Louise's greatest joy in life was raising her family. She reveled in the accomplishments and achievements of her sons and their families, and of her many nieces and nephews. Having learned at such a young age to sacrifice and care for others, it was natural for her to love and support all her family and friends.
Louise leaves behind a wonderful legacy for her children and grandchildren; son Robert Logano and his wife Karen Paradee Logano of Cape Coral, FL, and their three children; Matthew of Boston, MA, and Carissa and Brianna of Fort Myers, FL and son, Thomas Logano and his wife Deborah Biduk Logano of Concord, NC; and their children Danielle, of Charlotte, NC and Joseph and his wife Brittany of Cornelius, NC. Louise is also survived by a wonderful extended family and many caring friends. Louise was predeceased by her husband, Salvatore; brothers, Charles Cecchini, Alphonse Cecchini and John Cecchini and sisters Molly Monte and Florence Russo. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Louise's memory be made to the American Cancer Society , 825 Brook St, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday at 1 PM from the Coughlin-Lastrina Funeral Home, 491 High St., Middletown. Followed by a mass of Christian Burial in St.Mary's Church, Portland at 2 PM. Burial will be in the family plot in the Swedish Cemetery, Portland. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 5 to 8 PM.

DUNN, RICHARD P., SR.
Richard P. Dunn, Sr, 77, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 27. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 40 years Constance (Scata) Dunn. Richard was born on July 19, 1937 in Middletown, son of Walter and Pauline Dunn. He was blessed with a large and loving family. He is survived by his children, Patty and Bill Edgerly of Middlefield, Elizabeth Dunn and Tod Raynor of Middlefield, Paula and Peter Barnett of Higganum and Richard Dunn, Jr of Old Saybrook. He had five grandchildren: Nicole Vanecek, Todd and Chelsey Sikora and Matthew and Megan Barnett; as well as his great grandson, Colton Sikora. Richard also shared many happy years with his best friend, constant companion and fiancée, Sharon Pacifico. He is survived by his sister Eileen and George Scherber of Chester as well as Artie and Debbie Scata of Meriden, Joseph and Linda Scata of Windsor and Phyllis Sundell of Portland and several nieces and nephews. Richard retired from the City of Middletown after 37 years and worked his way up to be the Fleet Service Manager for the Department of Public Works at City Yard. He was known for his ability to fix anything. He received recognition from the Mayor for his efforts during the flood of 1992. Richard had a passion for racing and drove modified stock cars locally for over 20 years. He was best known as Dick Dunn #3 Waterford Speedbowl legend and was track champion several times. He was a long time member of St. Pius X Church. He enjoyed spending time at the family cottage in Old Saybrook. The funeral will be held on Monday at 11 am from the Coughlin-Lastrina Funeral Home, 491 High Street, Middletown followed by a mass of Christian burial at St. Pius X Church at 12 noon. Burial will be in the family plot in St. Sebastian Cemetery, Middlefield. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 5-8 pm. Josephine Pagano, 99, wife of the late Salvatore Pagano of 155 Pearl St, passed away Wednesday at Middlesex Hospital. She was born December 24, 1911 in Melilli Sicily, daughter of the Late Vincenzo and Sebastiana ( Milardo) Pagano. She was a member of St. Sebastian Church and the Ladies Garment Workers Union. Elaine Hodge
(January 27, 1943 - July 9, 2011)
Elaine Scarrozzo Hodge It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear wife and mother. Elaine Scarrozzo Hodge, 68, of Haddam, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 9, 2011 with her family at her bedside. Elaine was survived by the love of her life, Robert. born in Middletown, she was the daughter of the late Vincent and Italia Scarrozzo. She leaves behind her brother Vincent Scarrozzo and his wife Margaret of Middletown, sister Barbara Passinese and her husband Lawrence, of Middletown, and three children, Dina Pratt and her husband Mike of East Berlin, Kristen Johansen of Haddam, Eric Abramo and his wife Maura of Newburyport, MA and stepson Christopher Hodge and his wife Roseann of Brookfield. Elaine cherished her grandchildren: Michael Johnson and his wife Elizabeth, Cody, Austin and Dylan Johansen, step-grandchildren Maxwell and John Carlo Hodge and Kara Pratt. In addition she leaves behind aunts, uncles, cousins, and many nieces and nephews. Elaine loved life and spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed adventures of every kind: skiing, tennis, snorkeling, and sailing. She also loved writing, poetry, art, music, reading and traveling. Elaine graduated from Woodrow Wilson H.S. and Quinnipiac College. She was passionate about her work in real estate and retired from Coldwell Banker as Real Estate Manager. Nellie Chapman
(May 5, 1918 - July 3, 2011)
Nellie (Maracia) Chapman, longtime resident of Cromwell, beloved wife of the late Harry O. Chapman, died on Sunday, July 3, 2011. She was born on May 5, 1918 in Hartford to Frank and Angela (LaRosa) Marascia. She leaves a son, David Chapman of Cromwell; grandchildren Prudence Chapman of Somerville, MA and Joshua Chapman of Plattsburgh, NY; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Harry; one son, Otis Chapman; three sisters, and one brother. Nellie retired from the state of Connecticut, working in the Motor Vehicle and Labor departments. Her many hobbies included crafts, knitting, playing golf and working in her garden. A devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she also had many lifelong friends. Nellie dedicated her life to caring for her loved ones, leaving behind many fond memories for her family to cherish. A memorial service in her honor will take place on Saturday, July 23 at 3:00 p.m., D'Angelo Funeral Home, 22 South Main St., Middletown, CT.

Edward J. Resnisky Sr.
(February 23, 1936 - May 28, 2011)
“I Have fought the good fight: I have finished the race, and I have kept the faith. On Saturday May 28, 2011 Jesus took into his comforting arms his faithful son Edward J. Resnisky Sr. of Middletown, who peacefully passed from this earth with his loving wife and children by his side. Edward was born on February 23, 1936, the son of the late Dr. Andrew and Mary Rose . Savory Resnisky. Edward leaves the love of his life and devoted wife of 50 years, Annabel ( DiMauro) Resnisky and his dedicated children Edward Jr and his wife Lori of Maine: Daughter Geline O’Connor and her husband David of Rhode Island and his daughter from Middletown, who was born on his birthday. , MaryRose Resnisky .The shining stars of his life, who lit up his heart and his face with a smile, were his grandchildren Kyle, and KellyAnn O’Connor, of Rhode Island ,Jordan, Cameron and Morgan Resnisky of Middletown and Kate Keuck of Maine. He leaves his sister SueAnn and her husband Meridith Pierson of Virginia: sisters in law Joan and Jean Resnisky of Niantic, Patricia DiMauro of Florida: Brothers in Law William Strand of Willimantic and Frank Fazzio of Meriden. He was predeceased by his brothers Andrew and Richard Resnisky of Niantic and Sisters MaryEllen Strand and JoAnn Larned. He leaves many loving nieces and nephews, Godchildren and dear friends. Ed loved spending his summers at his beach home in Old Saybrook. Ed retired from Northeast Utilities after 26 years of dedicated service. He was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps. Semper Fidelis and a member of the Elks and Falcons club.

Carmella " Millie" Longo
(September 29, 1920 - July 16, 2011)
Carmella G. Longo affectionately known as “ Millie” passed away Saturday July 16, 2011 at Mulberry Gardens of Plantsville. She was the widow of Frank L. Longo. Millie was born Spet 29, 1920 in Southington, daughter of the Late John D. and Molly ( Celella) Galiette. She retired from Pratt Whitney Aircraft in 1983, however her devotion always remained with her family, her home and her church. She took great pride in maintaining her home, relishing in the activities, and accomplishments of her children, grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, and of course her special neighbor St. Thomas Church of which she was a lifelong member. As a member of the Alter Society, and the Holy Rosary Society, she personally made sure that all of the church linens were starched to perfection. She loved volunteering at St. Thomas School were the children befriended her as their “ Miss Millie” Millie recently resided at Mulberry Gardens with her devoted caregiver, Akua and enjoyed her new surroundings. It was here she was able to renew old acquaintances, and establish new friendships under the supervision of a professional and caring staff She is survivor by her two daughters and their families, Francine Holm and her husband Robert of Marion Ct, and Nanciel Sarno and her husband Louis of Middletown.. Her Grandsons Douglas Holm and his wife Laura of West Hartford and Gregory Holm of Greenwich. She leaves a step grandson Joseph Sarno and his wife Marly of Naugatuck and their children Landon and Jacob. Milles life came full circle when at the age of 85 she was blessed with a great granddaughter Caroline Frances Holm. She is also survived by her beloved sisters Florence Lecuyer of Plantsville, Alvera ( Dee) Gallucci and her husband John of East Haven and Dolores (Tommie ) Galiette of New Haven. Two sister in laws Lucy Galiette of Naugatuck and Margaret Galiette of Ft. Lauderdale Fla.. She is predeceased by her sisters Katherine Volpe, Julia Fantozzi and Victoria Geloso along with her brothers Dominic and Joseph Galiette. She also leaves several nieces and nephews, notably John Geloso who as always her “ Go To Guy” A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday July 21, 2011 at 11 A.M. at St. Thomas Church 99 Bristol St, Southington. Salvatore Zimmitti
(August 1, 1937 - July 21, 2011)
Salvatore Zimmitti, 73, husband of Filomena (Federico) Zimmitti of Southington passed away Thursday, July 21, 2011. He was born in Melilli, Sicily on August 1, 1937, a son of the late Luigi and Maria (Gianni) Zimmitti. Prior to his retirement he was employed by Emhart Corporation for 40 years and had also recently been employed by Otis Elevator. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Marianna and Joseph Cataldo and Lucia and Mitchell Cobb and a sister-in-law, Elisabeth Zimmitti. He is also survived by many nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces. He was predeceased by his brother, Frank Zimmitti. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. from the D’Angelo Funeral Home, 22 South Main St., Middletown. James A. Astromowicz
(November 28, 1947 - July 26, 2011)
James Astromowicz, 63 of Middletown, CT passed into heaven peacefully on July 26, 2011 from lung cancer at Water’s Edge Center for Rehabilitation in Middletown. He is survived by 2 sons, James Astromowicz Jr. and Harley Doak of Michigan, 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 2 brothers, Alan of Middletown, Joseph Astromowicz of Coventry, as well as his sister Theresa Dowling of Glastonbury, his godparents Connie and Tony Scandura of Middletown as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. Jim is predeceased by his parents Stanley and Marie Astromowicz. Jim was a lifelong resident of Middletown. He was very well known and loved by all. His kind heart and generous spirit will never be forgotten throughout the town. Most days you could find Jim walking up and down Main Street, stopping to talk with his many friends. Jim enjoyed watching motorcycles drive up and down Main Street and could identify the smallest detail of his favorite, Harley Davidson. He also enjoyed walking to Harbour Park to just sit and watch the river flow. Jim was a Lance Corporal in the Marine Corps and served in the Vietnam war with the H&S Co 2ndBn, 9thMar, 3rdMARDIV. While in Vietnam he served as a Motor Vehicle Operator and a Heavy Weight Truck Driver. He earned many medals and badges while there, including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal W/1, Vietnam Campaign Medal W/1960, Rifle Marksmanship Qualification Bade and the Good Conduct Medal The family of Jim would like to thank the hospice staff at Middlesex Memorial Hospital, the staff at Water’s Edge and West Side Manor in East Hampton for the kindness they showed to Jim. The family would also like to thank Karen Mills of Middletown for her years of friendship and assistance to Jim. Graveside Services with Military Honors will be held Weds morning at 11 A.M. at the State Veteran’s Cemetery Chapel, Bow Lane. Sebastian "Mike Crane" Marino
(December 16, 1919 - August 10, 2011)
Sebastian “ Mike Crane” Marino, 91, husband of the Late Rose ( Greco) Marino of 180 Clover St, Middletown, passed away Wednesday at Middlesex Hospital. He was born December 16, 1919, in Middletown, son of the Late Carmelo and Rosina ( Milardo) Marino. Prior to his retirement he was the owner of S.G. Marino Crane. He was a member of the Middletown elks Lodge #771. He was a US Army Veteran of WWII serving In the pacific Theater with the rank of Staff Sgt He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and the Bronze Star for Bravery under Fire He is survived by fours Sons, Carl Marino, Michael Marino and his wife Danette and Theodore Marino, of Middletown, Lawrence Marino and his wife Jane of Portland. His Fiancée Helen Goldman of Middletown. A Brother Salvatore “ Chim” Marino of Middletown. Two sisters Marion Sarcia of Middletown and Dolores Marino of California 15 Grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 3 Great great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brothers Patrick Vernale and Frank Marino and his sisters Jenny DiMauro, Rose Bombaci, Ann Falconieri, Eleanor Bedore and Antoinette Glines. Funeral Services will be held Saturday morning at 10 A.M. at the D’Angelo Funeral Home 22 South main st, Middletown. Burial with military honors will be in the family plot in St Sebastian Cemetery, Middlefield. Theresa Mastrianni
(April 23, 1915 - October 2, 2011)
Theresa Mastrianni, 96, beloved mother , grandmother and great-grandmother passed away Sunday at Meridan Manor. She was born April 23, 1915 in Thompsonville , daughter of the Late Luigi and Elvira ( Lepore) Sarno. She was a member of St. Leo’s Church. Prior to her retirement she was employed by Scovill Mfg and Metal Fabrications. She enjoyed Cooking and Family Gatherings with her children and Grandchildren. She is survived by a Son Robert Mastrianni. A daughter Anne Hogrefe and her husband Paul of Waterbury. A Brother Joseph Sarno and his wife Virginia of Bristol. A Sister Lucy Cianciolo and her husband Michael of Durham. A sister in law Rose Sarno of Waterbury. Two Grandchildren Jennifer Pepin and her husband Chris of Prospect. and David Mastrianni and his wife Jennifer of Plainville. Four great grandchildren Abigail, Nathan, Avery and Aaron. She is predeceased by a Brother Vincent Sarno and a Sister Mafalda Salcito.
Funeral Services will be held Weds morning at 9 A.M. from the Woodtick Memorial Funeral Home 420 Woodtick Rd, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. at St. Leo’s Church. Attilio "Art" Marchese
(September 24, 1930 - October 11, 2011)
Attilio “Art” Thomas Marchese Attilio Thomas Marchese, 81 of Rockfall, Connecticut, died Wednesday (October 11, 2011), at Middlesex Hospital Hospice after a long and brave battle with cancer. He was born in Middletown, Connecticut, on September 24, 1930. He was the son of the late Joseph and Dominica Marchese of Middletown. Art was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing with his friends at Indian Springs Golf Course. He attended Middletown High School where he played football and later joined the military service. He was a carpenter by trade and worked in the Connecticut Carpenter’s Union. Art was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Besides his wife Josephine (Salemi) Marchese, to whom he was married to for 59 years, Art leaves his son, Arthur Marchese of Middlefield, his daughters, Jo-Ann Dumas and her husband James of Durham and Susan Dzialo and her husband Paul of Middletown; his grandchildren, Amy Behrends, Michael Marchese, Jennifer Turek, Katherine Nadeau, Alicia Salafia, John S. Salafia; his great grandchild Zachery James Nadeau; his Sister Flora Frati of Westbrook; several nieces & nephews, and his beloved Springer Spaniel “Sophie”. He was predeceased by his 2 brothers and a sister; Sebastian Marchese, Joseph Marchese, Sr. and Marrietti Dubreuil. Michael Bongiorno
(June 26, 1949 - October 5, 2011)
Michael R. Bongiorno, 62, passed away peacefully on Oct. 5 after a long illness with his loving family by his side. He was born on June 26, 1949, and was a lifelong resident of Middletown. He was the loving son of the late Sebastian and Rose (Foligno) Bongiorno. He is survived by his family from Middletown, sister Lucille Knight and her husband Bob, and his nephew and niece, Ryan and Chelsey Knight, whom he loved and cherished as if they were his own. They were his ultimate reason to carry on. He also leaves behind a large circle of family and lifelong devoted friends who loved and supported him unconditionally. He was a member of St. Sebastian Church and he attended local schools. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1972 with an honorable discharge. He was a member of the CT Carpenter's Union for 20 years and worked along side his father in their family business, Economy Builders Finish Company during this time as well. He most recently worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Middletown where he retired from after 22 years of service. Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. from the D'Angelo Funeral Home, 22 South Main St., followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at St. Sebastian Church. Burial with military honors will be in the State Veterans Cemetery, Middletown. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. Donations in his memory may be made to the DaVita Dialysis Center, 100 Riverview Center Middletown, CT 06457.

Scott Silvestro
(January 15, 1966 - September 28, 2011)
Scott Silvestro, 46, husband of Cathy ( Anderson) Silvestro of 68 Hillcrest Ave, Middletown, passed away Wednesday. He was born January 15, 1966 in Middletown, son of Angelo “ Butch” and Lynn Silvestro. He Scott was a master of all trades, after taking auto mechanics in trade school he opened his own auto repair shop, and he knew autos inside out. He repaired small motors and built his own Motorcycle. He was a craftsman woodworker having built numerous pieces of furniture for friends and family. He took home correspondence courses and received diplomas in Residential wiring, and was very adept in plumbing. He was last employed by the State of Conn. s a carpenter Besides his Parents and Wife he is survived by his 5 yr old Son Joseph who idolized his Dad. Joseph could always be found right at his Dad’s side whether working on projects in the basement or at Home Depot. A sister and brother in law Tammy and Jim Perrotta. Also 6 nieces and a nephew, He will be greatly missed by his two dogs Rascal and Bruno whom he truly loved. Relatives and friends may call at the D’Angelo Funeral Home Sunday from 4-6 P.M. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. In Lieu of flowers Donations in his memory may be made to Liberty Bank 315 Main St Middletown Ct 06457 Attn: Robin Fujio for Joseph’s Education Fund.
