Achille "Gil" Amara
(April 29, 1925 - June 9, 2011)
Achille Amara, known fondly by family and friends as "Gil", passed away at Westside Regional Medical Center in Plantation, Florida on June 9, 2011 at the age of 86. born in Middletown, Connecticut to the late Sebastiano and Concettina Sasstisccio Amara, he was a WorId War II U.S. Navy veteran who went on to graduate from Hillyer College with a degree in business and join the U.S. Army Reserves.
In 1954 he married Marie Peterman, who blessed him with 4 sons.
The family relocated to South Florida in 1970, where he began a successful career in real estate that spanned more than 25 years.
Gil enjoyed music, repairing things that were broken, engaging in good conversation, sharing a sense of humor, and most importantly, spending time with his family.
Considered a best friend and mentor to his sons, he now brings joy to those who have gone before him.
He was preceded in death by brothers Joe and Sebastian, and is survived by two sisters, Mary (Amara) Prebitt and Lucille (Amara) Lingard, and a brother, Salvatore.
He was devoted to and is survived by his sons Gil, Barry (Tracy), Glenn, and Shawn (Joanne).

Gil was a consummate family man who always enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren , Shannon (James), Chad (Chrissi), Alyssa, Dustin, Greyson and Gianna.
He is also survived by his great-grandchildren Dillon, Kaleigh and Ethan, long-time neighbors and dear friends.
Family and friends may call at the D'Angelo Funeral Home, 22 South Main Street, Middletown on Thursday, June 16th, from 4 pm to 8 pm.
Prayers will be presented at the funeral home on Friday, June 17th at 9 a.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 155 Washington Street, Middletown on Friday at 10 am, with burial to follow at St. Sebastian Cemetery in Middlefield.

Louise C Schaffer
(August 21, 1942 - February 24, 2013)
Lousie C. Schaffer, 70. Wife of John Schaeffer ot 58 Frissell Terr, passed away on February 24, 2013 at Middlesex Hospital following a long illness.
She was born August 21, 1942 , daughter of the Late James Whalen and Catherine (LaRoe) Brown.
She was a member of St. Sebastian Church.
She was employed by Scottie and Daniels, Portland Besides her husband she is survived by a Son Leonard Lewis of Middletown.
A Daughter and son in law Christine Kellie and her husband Mark of Windsor.
A Brother Charles Brown of Cherryville Missouri.
A sister Ruby Brown of Granite City Illinois.
Also many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
Funeral Services will be held Weds morning at 10:30 A.M. from the D’Angelo Funeral Home 22 South Main St followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 A.M. At St. Sebastian Church.
Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Relatives and friends may call at the Funeral home Weds morning from 9;30-10;30 In Lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to DaVita Dialysis Center 100 main St or the Ct Humane Society 701 Russell Rd Newington Ct 06111.

Patricia C. Colletta
(November 27, 1936 - February 25, 2013)
Patricia C. (Corey) Colletta, 76, of Middltown, beloved wife of Raymond J. Colletta, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on February 25th.
Born November 27, 1936 in Worchester Mass, and raised in New Britain.
She was the daughter of the Late Arthur and Evelyn Corey.
She Graduated from New Britain High in 1955.
Ray and Patricia just observed 57 years of marriage.
She truly enjoyed working at Wesleyan University for 43 years.
She will be remembered by her son Raul and wife Tania of CA and daughter Tambri Weast and her husband Donovan of Fla.
She also leaves 2 sisters Sandra Charetta and Christine Corey.
Her sister in law Charolette ( Colletta) Auclair and Niece Michelle Colangelo of Fla. Her loving grandchildren Samantha, Madison Colletta and Taylor Weast.
The family thanks Smilow Cancer Center, Yale and Middlesex Hospital Hospice for Compassionate care, and special thanks to Michael Strumpt R.M.D at Wesleyan (Bon Appetit).
Calling hours Thursday February 28th from 5-7 P.M. at the D’Angelo funeral home 22 South main St. Funeral Services will e held Friday March 1st at 10 A.M At St. Pius X Church, Westfield St. Entombment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, 2CM Mausoleum.

MORELLO, SALVINA “SABINA”
Salvina “Sabina” Morello, 39, beloved daughter of Mario & Concettina Morello of Middletown, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 3rd, at Middlesex Hospital.
Sabina was born on September 1, 1974, in Middletown, CT.
Sabina graduated from Middletown High School.
She was a wonderful and loving mother to her daughter Selena Rivera.
Selena was and will always remain her pride and joy.
Sabina was a caring and kind young woman who always had a smile on her face and was always willing to help her family.
She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Her legacy will live on in her daughter, Selena.
Besides her parents and her daughter, she leaves behind her lifelong partner, Liseo Rivera of Middletown, CT.
She also leaves her loving sister Maria & Michael Mennella of Rocky Hill, CT and three beautiful nephews, Michael, Joseph, and Luca Mennella.
She also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her twin sister at birth.
Funeral services will be held Thursday ( May 8, 2014) at 9:00 am from D’ Angelo Funeral Home, 22 South Main Street Middletown, CT, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at Saint Sebastian Church 155 Washington Street, Middletown.
Burial will follow the Mass at Saint Sebastian Cemetary, Middletown, CT.
Friends and family are welcome at the funeral home on Wednesday May 7, 2014, from 5-8pm.
In lieu of flowers, an Education fund was set up for her daughter Selena.

SPADA, ANN P. “DOLLY”
Ann P. “Dolly” Spada, 83, wife of Emanuel Spada Sr. of 38 Boston Rd., passed away on Monday at her home. She was born Sept. 3, 1930, in Middletown, daughter of the late Angelo and Angelina Passanisi. She was a member of St. Sebastian Church.
Besides her husband she is survived by three sons and their wives, Emanuel and Linda Spada Jr. of Cromwell, Thomas and Janice Spada of Middletown, and Steven and Heather Spada of Coventry; a brother, Angelo Passanisi of Middletown; two sisters, Jane Davis of Middletown and Lucille Cioffi of Southington; six grandchildren, Jason and Natalia Spada, Justine Spada, Sherry Spada, Tiana Spada, Ryan Spada and Shaun Spada; and a great-granddaughter, Cassandra Greco.
Funeral Services will be held Friday morning at 9 A.M. from the D’Angelo Funeral Home, 22 South Main St., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. St. Sebastian Church.
Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Sebastian Cemetery, Middlefield.
Relatives and friends may call at the Funeral Home Thursday evening from 5 to 8 P.M.

Vincenza (Jane) LaBella
Vincenza (Jane) LaBella, 70 of Portland, CT, daughter of the late Rosario and Rose DiMauro (Middletown, CT) passed away peacefully at home on Friday, March 21, 2014 with her family by her side.
Jane was born in Melili, Sicily on August 25, 1943.
She moved to Middletown, CT with her family at the age of 12 where she attended and graduated St. Sebastian’s School.
At 17, while visiting her family in Sicily, she met the love of her life Sebastiano LaBella and married him 21 days later, the day after her 18th birthday.
They eventually settled in Middletown, CT and then onto Portland, CT where they raised their family.
Jane and Sebastian would have been married 53 years this coming August.
Jane who had a love of hairstyling, graduated from the New England School of Hairdressing and was a hairstylist for 46 years. In 1976, she opened Jane’s Hair Fashions, an accomplishment she was very proud of.
She is remembered fondly for her sincere kindness, generosity and love of her family; always spoiling her grandchildren and those who knew her well.
She was an avid Red Sox fan and also enjoyed cooking for her family, planning elaborate meals for the Holidays and making sure no one left hungry.
Jane is survived by her loving husband Sebastiano LaBella, twin sons Luigi (Lou)LaBella and wife Lori, Rosario (Tom) LaBella and wife Donna, daughters Nella Marie LaBella and Rosanne LaBella.
Her grandchildren Michael, Matthew, Mark, Taylor, Joshua & Jason were her pride and joy and the light of her life.
She is also survived by brother Salvatore and wife Ida DiMauro, sister Josephine & Joe Bartolotta, brother John and Mary Ellen DiMauro and Tony and Barbara DiMauro as well as in-laws Maria and sal Aparo, Teresa and Sarino Scamporlino of Melilli, Sicily and Enza & Sebastiano Cavarra of Priolo, Sicily and well as many nieces and nephews.

Mary Ruth Brodersen (Bonafiglio)
Mary Ruth Brodersen, 104, of Westbrook, formerly of Middletown, CT, died peacefully at her daughter's home on Sunday, May 11,2014 (Mother's Day) surrounded by her family.
Born on August 3, 1909 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she is predeceased by her late husband Louis M. Brodersen, five sisters and one brother.
Mary is survived by a son, Louis Brodersen and wife, Patricia of Bradenton, FL and a daughter, Barbara Colonghi and husband, Frank of Westbrook; Grandchildren: Jeffrey Brodersen and wife, Susan of Glastonbury, Robert Brodersen and wife Tina of Palm Harbor, FL, Todd Colonghi and wife, Carolyn of Clinton, Kelly Colonghi of Westbrook and Scott Colonghi of Old Saybrook; Great-Grandchildren: William and Molly Brodersen, Zachary and Taylor Brodersen, Britney, Kimberly and Cote Young, and several nieces and nephews.
Mary worked at Middlesex Hospital for 16 years, retiring at age 82.
Love you forever Mom.

Joni A. Greco Kindschi
Joni A. Greco Kindschi, Wife of Kenneth Kindschi, of Middletown died at the Middlesex Hospital, in Middletown, on April 1, 2014.
She was born in Middletown, Connecticut on December 2, 1955 the Daughter of the Late Santo and Anna H. (Morello) Greco.
Joni is survived by her Husband, Kenneth Kindschi of Middletown, two Daughters Alissa Kindschi and her fiancé, Demarr Bryant, of Cromwell, Kelly Kindschi and her fiancé, Andrew Meadows, of Middletown, two sisters Lisa Greco Ross of Middletown and Cheryl Greco Tine and her Husband, Joseph, of Middletown.
She is also survived by five grandchildren, Aleah, Demarr Jr, Hailey, Carter and Blake.
Joni was employed as a Realtor with Sterling Realtors of Middletown.
Relatives and friends may call at the D'Angelo Funeral Home, 22 South Main St in Middletown on Friday, April 4th from 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday morning at St. Sebastian Church, 155 Washington St, in Middletown at 10:30 AM followed by internment in St. Sebastian Cemetery in Middlefield.
Donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society

Born in Hemingway, SC on Aug. 4, 1947
Departed on Jun. 22, 2006 and resided in Cromwell, CT.

Jane Loretta (Lewis) Myers, 58, of 307 Rook Road, Cromwell, wife of Preston H. Myers, was called to rest on June 22nd at Middlesex Hospital, Middletown.
Born in Hemingway, SC, she was the daughter of Lillie (Brown) Lewis-Weston and stepfather, George Weston of Cromwell and the late Samuel Lewis.
Mrs. Myers had lived in Middletown and Cromwell most of her life.
She was a member of Zion First Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Health and Nursing Ministry; Bible Study, Sunday School, and was an avid fundraiser for the church when it was first built.
She had been employed at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in Middletown for 35 years.
She will always been remembered for her sewing and love of reading.
Besides her husband, mother, and stepfather, she is survived by one son, Shawn P. Myers of North Haven; three brothers, Samuel E. (Nymfa) Lewis of San Antonio, TX, Donald R. Lewis of Middletown, Kevin B. (Laura) Lewis of San Antonio, TX; two sisters, Sylvia J. (Raymond) Henderson of Escondido, CA, Jacqueline A. (Howard) Lewis-Ross of Cromwell; three grandchildren, Maleek Myers, Jassmin Bentley, Jannasa Florin; one goddaughter, Eboni Payne of Cromwell; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by one son, James A. Myers.
Funeral services will be held at Zion First Baptist Church, 16 James A. Moses Ave., Middletown on Friday, June 30th, at 10:00 am.
The Rev. Donald Toussaint, Sr., will officiate and interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Middletown.
Friends may call at the church on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and are invited to send the family a message of condolence at the website of www.doolittlefuneralservice.com.
Doolittle Funeral Home 14 Old Church Street, Middletown, is in charge of arrangements.
