Michael Hugh Bibb, master’s student
Michael Hugh Bibb, a student and former Ridgefielder, died unexpectedly on Dec. 1 at his home in Seattle, Wash., where he was working on his master’s degree in public administration at Seattle University.
Born in Winchester, England, in 1971, Mr. Bibb lived in Ft. Worth, Texas, with his family from 1980 to 1987 when he moved to Ridgefield. He was a member of the class of 1991 at Ridgefield High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in political science at Western Connecticut State College.
He is survived by his parents, Thomas and Susan Bibb of Ridgefield, and a sister, Sarah Bibb of New York, N.Y.
A memorial service will take place in January in Ridgefield.

Lindsley LeVien, 89, Chase auditor
Lindsley W. LeVien, 89, of 640 Danbury Road, husband of Ruth (Rodman) LeVien, died on Sunday afternoon, September 1, 2002, at the Danbury Hospital.
Mr. LeVien was born in Brooklyn, New York, September 2, 1912, a son of the late Arthur and Anna (Eggers) LeVien.
He attended New York schools.
A World War II US Army Air Force veteran having served with the 610th Army Air Force Base Unit, Mr. LeVien was a retired auditor with Chase Manhattan Bank.
A former resident of Northport, L.I., New York, he has been a Wilton-Ridgefield resident for the past three years.
An avid outdoorsman, Lindsley also enjoyed swimming and flying of radio controlled airplanes.
In addition to his spouse, he is survived by a son, Lance A. LeVien of Chesterfield, MI, two daughters, Denise Lawrence of Tarzana, CA and Helen F. Dallow of Ridgefield, a brother, Arthur LeVien of Charlotte, NC, two sisters, Dorothy Renner of Farmingdale, L.I., New York and Betty Roberto of Merrick, L.I., New York and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will take place on Friday at 10AM in the Arthur F. White Funeral Home, Inc., 234 Broadway, Bethpage, L.I., New York.
Interment will follow in Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, L.I., New York.
Friends will be received at the Arthur F. White Funeral Home on Thursday from 7PM-9:30PM.
The Kane Funeral Home 41 Catoonah Street Ridgefield is in charge of arrangements.
Helen Link, 84, controller, volunteer
Helen Drosnin Link of 8 Kumquat Lane, a former controller who volunteered at Danbury Hospital, died on Saturday, March 9, at Laurel Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Route 7. She was 84 years old and the wife of William J. Link of Ridgefield.
Mrs. Link was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on July 13, 1917, a daughter of the late David and Rose Liboff Drosnin.
She attended schools in Brooklyn and had lived there many years.
Mrs. Link had been a bookkeeper for Columbia Diamond Ring Company of Jamaica, Queens, N.Y.
When the company opened a new headquarters in Danbury in 1974, she and her husband moved to Fox Hill in Ridgefield.
They were among the first owners of a condominium there and have been among Fox Hill’s longest residents.
When she retired in the 1980s, she was controller of the company.
Mrs. Link was a volunteer at the Gift Shop of the Danbury Hospital, had belonged to the OWLS and had participated in various activities at the Senior Center. She enjoyed classical music, bridge, crossword puzzles, and knitting.
Besides her husband of 54 years, Mrs. Link is survived by two daughters: Diane Silver and her husband Don of Cortland Manor, N.Y., and Leslie Ann Link of Newington; a brother: Harold Drosnin of Beechurst, N.Y.; two sisters: Harriet Fishelman of Franklin Square, N.Y., and Beatrice Cohen of Silver Spring, Md.; two grandchildren: Brian Silver of Peekskill, N.Y., and Kim Corrigan of Yorktown Heights, N.Y.; and a great-granddaughter: Molly Corrigan of Yorktown Heights.
Services took place on Tuesday in the Kane Funeral Home.
Burial will be private.

Rosalie Lowman, former Stamfordian
Rosalie M. “Nanny” Lowman of Ridgefield, formerly of Stamford and Greenwich, died on July 30 at Danbury Hospital.
She was 83 years old and the wife of Horace D. Lowman who died in 1977.
Born in Litchfield on Jan. 1, 1919, the daughter of the late Winslow and Ann Knox Darling, Mrs. Lowman had lived in Stamford most of her life except for two years during which she lived in Greenwich, and then in 1998 she came to Ridgefield where she was living at the time of her death.
She was a Salvation Army Silver Star Mother.
Survivors include three daughters: Major Deborah Lugiano of the Salvation Army of Ithaca, N.Y., Penny D’Arinzo of Ridgefield, and Karyn Lowman of Greenwich; seven sons: Charles Lowman of Naugatuck, George Lowman of New Haven, James Lowman of Williston, Fla., Robert Lowman of New York City, Clifford Lowman of Milford, Kevin Lowman and Richard Lowman, both of Stamford: five brothers: Robert Darling, Richard Darling, John Darling and William Darling, all of Stamford, and Roger Darling, of New York; a sister: Harriet Riccardelli of New York. Twenty-two grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren also survive.
Besides her husband she was predeceased by four sons: Lt. Col. H. Douglas Lowman of the Salvation Army, David Clair Lowman, Daniel Paul Lowman and John Lowman; two sisters, Mildred Hartlet and Ann Bianco; and one brother, Winslow Darling.
Services took place Saturday, Aug. 3, at The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford. Burial was at Woodland Cemetery, Stamford.

Cidalia G. Luiz, St. Mary’s parishioner
Cidalia G. “Kate” Luiz of 12 Acre Lane, who had lived much of her life in Bridgeport, died Thursday morning, Oct. 11, at her home after a brief illness. She was 84 years old and the widow of Bonificio H. Luiz.
Mrs. Luiz was born on June 23, 1917, in Bristol, R.I., a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Gomes.
She grew up in Bristol and attended schools there.
During World War II, Mrs. Luiz moved to Connecticut and became a part of the war effort, working at the Handy and Harman plant in Fairfield, which refined gold and silver. It was there that she met her husband, a coworker, and they were married in 1945.
They had been married nearly 52 years when Mr. Luiz died in January 1997.
Mrs. Luiz later worked for many years at Bridgeport Fittings, a company that makes electrical conduit and cable fittings, retiring in 1969.
She spoke both English and Portuguese fluently and often helped fellow workers of Portuguese extraction with translating.
“She was a very giving, loving and caring person,” said her daughter, Maria L. Hellmann of Acre Lane, with whom Mrs. Luiz made her home.
A Bridgeport resident for more than 50 years, Mrs. Luiz moved to Ridgefield six years ago.
She was a former member of Our Lady of Fatima in Bridgeport and a member St. Mary’s Church in Ridgefield.
She also took part in the senior luncheons at St. Mary’s.
Besides her daughter, Mrs. Luiz is survived by her son-in-law, Robert Hellman of Ridgefield, and by several nieces and nephews.
The Rev. Patrick Mooney, associate pastor, celebrated a Mass of Christian Burial Saturday at St. Mary’s Church. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Kirsten Maki, nurse, former Ridgefielder
Mrs. Kirsten Maki of South Street in Milford, N.H., died Monday evening, July 23, at the home of her oldest son in Amherst, N.H.
She was 66 years old.
She was born in Oslo, Norway on Sept. 23, 1934 the daughter of Eystein and Ingrid Markmanrud.
She resided in Milford, NH since 1988 and previously lived in Claremont for twenty years and in Ridgefield for several years.
Mrs. Maki worked as a maternity nurse in the Danbury and Norwalk area.
While in Claremont, she was a ceramic instructor, doing business as Hay Loft Ceramics and also loved to paint small porcelain dolls.
Survivors include three sons, Michael Maki and his wife, Susan of Amherst, Eric Maki of Wentworth, NH and Adam Maki and his wife, Sarah; two daughters, Kristina Markmanrud and her husband, Finn of Brookline, NH and Susan Minckler of Marquette, MI; twelve grandchildren; one brother, Sebjorn Markmanrud of Kongsberg, Norway; one sister, Ingjerd Stenbeck of Spain; also nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Friday evening, July 27th at 7:30 PM at Arrowhead Ski Area off South Street in Claremont.
Relatives and friends are invited to come to Arrowhead from 6 to 7:30 PM on Friday evening.

R. Karl Manchon, executive, innkeeper
R. Karl Manchon of Port St. Lucie, Fla., a former food executive and innkeeper who was active in Ridgefield in the 1970s and 80s, died on Thursday morning, May 2, at the St. Lucie Medical Center, Port St. Lucie, Fla. He was 56.
Mr. Manchon was born in New York City, Sept. 21, 1945, a son of the late Richard Rodier and Marjorie Stoll Manchon.
He attended New York schools and was a graduate of Babson College.
Mr. Manchon, who lived on St. John’s Road from the early 1970s to 1988, was an executive vice president of the former Pure Food Corporation of Mamaroneck, N.Y., and had also been president of Herb-Ox Inc., then a Pure Food subsidiary.
In Ridgefield, Mr. Manchon had been treasurer of the Keeler Tavern Preservation Society and a charter member of the former Exchange Club of Ridgefield. He had also been a member of the Rotary Club and served on the town’s Jury Selection Committee.
He had also been a member of the Board of Directors of the former Village Bank and Trust Company of Ridgefield.
Mr. Manchon was a past member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church and had served on its vestry.
In 1988, Mr. Manchon moved to Orleans, Mass., where he owned and operated the Old Yarmouth Inn.
In 1994, he moved to Port St. Lucie.
He is survived by a daughter, Alicia M. LeBeau and her husband Gregory of Prospect; a son, Andrew K. Manchon of Tucson, Ariz.; and a sister, Karen M. Frank of Bethel.
The Rev. Dr. Aaron Manderbach, former rector of St. Stephen’s Church, conducted services Wednesday in the Kane Funeral Home.
Entombment will take place in the family mausoleum at Ferncliff Cemetery, Hartsdale, N.Y.

Margaret "Peg" Marban, IBM secretary
Margaret Ann “Peg” Brandt Marban, a Ridgefield resident since 1981, died on Wednesday, Feb. 20, after a long battle with breast cancer.
She was 53 years old and the mother of Heather and Holly Marban of Ridgefield.
Ms. Marban was born in Mount Kisco, N.Y., the only child of Catherine Murphy Brandt and Fred Brandt.
She grew up in Mount Kisco and attended Fox Lane High School and Pace University.
For 15 years, she worked as an executive secretary at IBM in the World Trade Division.
In 1978, she married Enrique “Hank” Marban, an IBM executive. From 1984 until 1988, they lived in Hong Kong where their two daughters were born.
Mr. Marban died of cancer in 1991.
Ms. Marban was an avid reader. She was a talented writer, gardener and cook.
Horseback riding was a hobby that both she and her husband shared.
“Peg considered the most important contribution of her life to be her two beautiful, talented daughters, Heather and Holly, of whom she was very proud,” a family spokesman said.
“Peg was a person of immense warmth and personal charm. Everyone who met her was touched by her wonderful sense of humor,” said friend Patti Ballard of Ridgefield. “She was a special friend and will be deeply missed by her family and her many friends.”
Ms. Marban is also survived by stepchildren Stephanie Cassatly of Jupiter, Fla., Stephen Marban of Mexico City, Mexico, and Carlos Marban, Susie Payne and Annie Purcell, all of Augusta, Ga.
The Rev. Dick Gilchrist conducted a memorial service at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church on Saturday. Burial will be in Ridgebury Cemetery at a later date.
