PRESCOTT O. PIPER age 83 of 26 Urso Ave., Westerly, RI died Wednesday morning at Westerly Hospital.
He was born in Lacrosse, Wisconsin, December 9, 1918 the son of Robert B. and Julia Kirkeeng Piper. He married Mary Christopherson on October 6, 1944 at St. James Church in New London.
He graduated from Sparta Wisconsin High School in the class of 1936, attended business school for two years and was a graduate of the former Merchant Marine School at Ft. Trumbull in New London in 1942. He received his masters license and was a Captain in the Merchant Marine.
During World War II he served in the Pacific. As Captain, he worked for Mobil Oil Company for 44 years both on oil tankers and as the port director in Abbadan, Iran and New York City. He retired in 1985.
He was a member of the Tolerance Lodge of Masons in Beaumont, Texas.
Besides his wife he is survived by a brother, Kenneth Piper of West Salem, Wisc., 2 sisters, Lavina Patterson of Williamsport, OH and Lorraine Brown of Cashton, Wisc., and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Allyn Piper.
A funeral service will be held at 2 o’clock Friday at the Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington St. New London. Interment will be in Jordan Cemetery, Waterford. Visiting hours are today (Thurs) from 6 until 8 o’clock. Please omit flowers, donations in his memory may be directed to the Sparta High School Scholarship Fund, Sparta, WI 54656

Shavonne Marie Wallace
Born in New London, CT on Jul. 5, 1978

Shavonne Wallace

NORWICH – Shavonne Marie Wallace, 24, of 210 West Thames St., Unit. 4, Norwich, died Saturday morning in Norwich as a result of a motor vehicle accident.

She was born July 5, 1978 in New London the daughter of Dale D. Wallace of Norwich and Linda Jackson of Ft. Myers, FL.

Miss Wallace graduated from Ella T.Grasso Southeastern Technical School in 1997 and was a licensed hairdresser.

She was employed as a certified nurses aid at Seacorp Group Homes and had also worked as a dealer and coin cashier at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville.

Miss Wallace loved to dance and sing and especially enjoyed children.

In addition to her mother and father she is survived by her granparents; Alvin and Alene Pye of New London and grandmother Peggy Jackson of New London, 1 brother; Nicholas Jackson of New London and a half brother; Khamisi Goode of New London, 3 nieces and a host of other relatives.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday at the Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington St., New London on Historic Whale Oil Row. The Rev. L.David Cornish will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 – 7 PM.

Debbie Wallace
Born in New London, CT on Sep. 8, 1960

Debbie Wallace

NORWICH – Debbie Wallace, 41, of 210 West Thames St., Unit 2, Norwich died Saturday morning in Norwich as a result of a motor vehicle accident.

She was born September 8, 1960 in New London the daughter of the late Joe Lewis Wallace and Alene Pye of New London.

Miss Wallace was a 1979 graduated of New London High School and was employed as a wardrobe supervisor at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville. She had been named Employee of the Month on several occasions.

She had attended Mt. Moriah Fire Baptized Holiness Church in New London.

Miss Wallace enjoyed dancing, fashion and hairstyles.

In addition to her mother she is survived by 3 daughters; LaSharae Rock of New London, Shaylonda Wallace, and Anna McKinstry all of New London, 2 brothers; John Wayne McKenzie of Denver, CO and Dale Wallace of Norwich, 2 sisters; Janice Moore of Mahapac, NY and her twin sister Diane Wallace Ziroli of Norwich, a granddaughter; Shynia Rock and her step-father; Alvin Pye of New London., and a host of other relatives. She was pre-deceasewd by a son; Christopher Rock.

Louise Fusconi Levesque
Born in Anagni, Italy on Jan. 21, 1913
Departed on Dec. 14, 2004 and resided in Mystic, CT.

Louise Agnes Fusconi Levesque of 129 Deerfield Ridge Dr. in Mystic, formerly of Thames St. in Groton, went home to be with the Lord on Dec. 14, 2004 surrounded in love by her family.
The daughter of Vincenzo and Dusolina Leandri Fusconi, she was born on Jan. 21, 1913 in Anagni, Italy and came to the U. S. as an infant.
She attended Groton Heights School and WMI, transferring to Fitch High School where she was a member of the first graduating class in 1931. While at Fitch, she sang 1st soprano with the choral group.
Louise was an accomplished pianist and, as a young woman, played for the New London Symphony Orchestra and the Fusconi’s Orchestra. She had also taught piano for many years in the area.
Mrs. Levesque was a member of the Sacred Heart church in Groton, as well as the Sacred Heart Rosary Society and Daughters of Isabella
She was married to the late Charles Levesque on July 20, 1940 at the old Sacred Heart Church on Eastern Point Road in Groton. Charles passed away on Feb. 11, 1984.
Louise had worked at the Thames St. branch of Fusconi Cleaners for many years.
She leaves two daughters Anita Parker and her husband Luke, with whom she lived, Jeannine Evans and her husband David of Fernandina Be., FL., four grandchildren Dr. Mark Parker and his wife Laura of Cape Elizabeth, ME., Brian Shull and his wife Michele of East Greenwich, RI., Dawn Grant of Fernandina, Beach, FL., Stephanie Mooney and her husband William also of Fernandina Beach, seven great-grandchildern Aaron, Brett, Wesley & Clara Parker, Laci Shull, Chandler and Charles Grant, She also has three step-grandchildren Mark Evans & Family of Mystic, CT., David Evans & Family of San Jose, CA., and Christopher Evans of Oregon.
Louise was also predeceased by her brother Delio Fusconi.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon on Thurs. Dec. 16, at the Sacred Heart Church, Sacred Dr., Groton.
Burial will follow in the Colonel Ledyard Cemetery in Groton.
Visiting hours will be held from 10 to 11:45 am Thurs. at the Byles- Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames St. prior to the Mass.
Donations may go to the Charity of the Donors Choice.

Lionel F. Akerman
Born in Alexandria, New Hampshire on May 2, 1918

LIONEL F. AKERMAN age 86 of 158 Starr Hill Road, Groton died Saturday afternoon, December 18, 2004 at the Groton Regency with his beloved wife and family at his side.
He was born in Alexandria, New Hampshire on May 29, 1918 the son of Lawrence and Agnes Stickney Akerman. He married Gertrude M. Cilley in Hill, New Hampshire on September 10, 1937.
Lionel was a partner in the Miner and Alexander Lumber Company in New London retiring in 1982. He was an Army veteran of World War II serving in the German theater.
He is a charter and life member of the Groton Lodge of Elks and a life member of the New London Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
In addition to his wife Gertrude, he is survived by his daughter, Virginia Kent and her husband Richard B. Kent, Sr. of Groton, a grand daughter Loriann Polakoff and her husband Phil and great granddaughter Abigail of Whitehall, Maryland, a grandson Richard B. Kent, Jr. and his wife Loretta, great grandsons Justin Shayer and Bradley Kent and great granddaughter Ashton Shayer of Groton. He also is survived by a brother, Lawrence ‘Red’ Akerman of Laconia, NH.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday morning at 11 o’clock at the Byles-Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames St. Interment will be in Colonel Ledyard Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 o’clock. Donations in his memory may be directed to the Alzheimers Association, Conn. Chapter, 96 Oak St., Hartford, CT 06106.

Joan I. Denison

JOAN I. DENISON age 63 of 11 Fullmore Dr., Waterford died Monday morning, December 20, 2004 at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital.
She was born in New London on April 6, 1941 the daughter of Stephen J. and Rose Kaika Brodasky. She married George A. Denison on April 7, 1983 in East Lyme.
Joan had retired from the Groton Long Point Police Department.
Besides her husband she is survived by a son, John McLaughlin of Waterford, a daughter Kerri Hall of Waterford, a step son, Jefferey Denison of East Lyme , a step daughter, Lisa Debs of Deep River and a brother, Thomas Brodasky of Kalamazoo, Michigan. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Cassidy and Matthew Hall, Rachel and David McLaughlin and Ashley Denison.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington St. New London. Interment will be private. A visiting hour will be from 1 until the time of the service. Please omit flowers, donations in her memory may be directed to the Connecticut Humane Society, 169 Old Colchester Road, Quaker Hill, CT 06385.

Vincent A. Giglio
Born in New York, New York on Sep. 17, 1928

Vincent A. Giglio

GROTON - Vincent A. Giglio, 74 of 32 Lewiston Court, Groton died Wednesday at the Groton Regency after a brief struggle with cancer.

He was born September 17, 1928 in New York City the son of Thomas and Elisha L. Giglio.

Mr. Giglio was married to Carol M. Oviatt Giglio in Old Mystic on February 5, 1949 and was married for 42 years until her death in 1991.

He leaves 2 daughters; Ellie E. Giglio of Groton and Judith G. Dauda and her husband James of Groton, 1 son; Vincent A. Giglio, Jr. of New London. He gave immense pleasure to his 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Mr. Giglio served in the United States Navy from 1945 to 1965 as a CPO and was a proud veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. Following his military service he worked as a test technician at Electric Boat for 22 years, retiring in 1995.

He is a life member of the Fleet Reserve Assoc., and a member of the American Legion. Mr. Giglio spent his last years enjoying his family, garden , model railroading and his cats.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday at the Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington St., New London. Burial with military honors will be in Elm Grove Cemetery, Mystic. A calling hour will be held from 10:00 AM until the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to a charity of the donor’s choice.
