MARY RUSSO age 89 of 18 Phillips Ave., Groton died on Jan. 13, 2004 at the Mariner Healthcare at Pendleton in Stonington.
She was born in Pennsylvania on July 2, 1914 the daughter of Anthony and Josephine Mazzella. She was the widow of Salvatore Russo.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Terminesi and a son Anthony Russo both of Groton, 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, three sisters and two brothers.
Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a daughter, Louise Lee, a great-grandchild, three brothers and a sister.
A funeral service will be held on Mon. Jan. 19, at 10 a.m. at the Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington St. New London. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday evening from 3 to 5 p.m., and on Monday morning from 9:30 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Janice E. Munday
Born in Scotts Bluff, Nebraska on Feb. 6, 1953
Departed on Jul. 8, 2002 and resided in New London, CT.

JANICE E. MUNDAY age 49 of 93 Montauk Ave. New London, died July 8th at her residence. She was born in Scotts Bluff, Nebraska on February 6, 1953 the daughter of Norma Wilson Munday of New London and the late Carl O. Munday.
She graduated from New Britain, CT. schools and had worked as an operator for Southern New England Telephone Co.
Janice was active on the internet, was an avid reader and a gourmet cook. She was learned in a vast array of subjects and inspired children of close friends to learn and experience all they could about areas of interest to them.
Her mother is her only survivor.
Funeral services and interment were private. Donations in her memory may be directed to Hospice of SE Ct., P.O. Box 902, Uncasville, CT 06382. Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington St. is in charge of arrangements.

Frank Ceravolo
Born in Kenilworth, New Jersey on Jun. 18, 1914

Frank Ceravolo
Groton – Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grand Father Frank Ceravolo, 90 of 1150 Gold Start Highway, Groton died Monday at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Ceravolo was born in New Jersey on June 18, 1914 and moved to Connecticut where he met and married the former Rita Mazzella on January 6, 1940.
Mr. Ceravolo was employed as a pipe fitter at Electric Boat during World War II and after the war would work for Spicers 36 years as a heating and cooling technician, retiring from there in 1978. Mr. Ceravolo came out of retirement to work for the City of Groton in the maintenance department for several years. Mr. Ceravolo was a life long member of the local Teamster Union, an avid coon hunter and gardener.
In addition to being survived by his wife Rita and two daughters Rose Whitham of Melbourne Florida and Louise McEwen or Norwich, Mr. Ceravolo is survived by six grandchildren and five great grand children.
A visiting hour will be held at Byles Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames Street, Groton on Wednesday, April 6 between the hours of 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held on Thursday morning at 10 o’clock at the Elm Grove Cemetery, Mystic

Harry A. Jackson
Born in Saginaw, Michigan on Dec. 7, 1916
Departed on Apr. 10, 2005 and resided in Mystic, CT.

Capt. Harry A. Jackson, (USN Ret.) of Stoneridge in Mystic, formerly of Groton, passed away Sunday morning April 10, 2005 at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in New London.
Capt. Jackson was born on Dec. 7, 1916 in Saginaw, Michigan and had served 30 years in the U. S. Navy. His last duty station was as Supervisor of Shipbuilding at the Electric Boat Company in Groton, CT. After retiring from the Navy in 1969, he spent 35 years as a consultant and a visiting professor at MIT. While at MIT, he taught the Navy Submarine Design Trend course, where he instructed more than 1000 students.
Capt. Jackson was a registered Professional Engineer in the states of WA., NH and CT. He was a member of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers(SNAME), American Society of Naval Engineers(ASNE), the New York and Shennecossett Yacht Clubs as well as the Shenecossett Beach Club in Groton.
He received numerous awards including the Legion of Merit with gold star for his contributions to the development of submarines, the ASNE Harold E. Saunders medal for lifetime contributions to Naval Engineering and the SNAME David Taylor Medal for outstanding contributions to Naval Architecture.
Capt. Jackson was a long time volunteer at the Mystic Seaport and an oral history of his life and career was published by the Naval Institute in 2002.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years Becky, two children Harry Allen Jackson, Jr. of Sterling, VA., and Lisle Ann Jackson Orgler of Lebanon, NJ., 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
A Memorial service will be held at 11 am Wednesday at the St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 15 Pearl St., Mystic. There are no visiting hours.
Private burial will take place in the Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.
Byles- Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames St. is in charge of arrangements.
Donations may be made to either the St. Mark’s Church or the Mystic Seaport, P.O.Box 6000, Mystic, CT 06355-0990

Marion Anthony
Born in Pottsville, Pennsylvania on Feb. 7, 1930

Marion Anthony, of Quaker Hill, CT. passed away Wed. Apr. 13, 2005 at the home of her sister Priscilla Ballassi after a short illness.
The daughter of the late George and Jennie Anthony, she was born on Feb. 7, 1930 in Pottsville, PA.
She was a resident of Bayonne, NJ. for many years prior to moving to Connecticut to be near her family.
In addition to her sister, she is survived by a niece JoAnn Ballassi of Quaker Hill, her nephew and his wife George and Yannoula Ballassi of Waterford, her great nephew Gregory and great niece Amanda Ballassi also of Waterford.
She was also predeceased by her brother Gregory Anthony.
She was a member of the St. Sophia Hellenic Orthodox Church, an active member of the St. Sophia Senior Citizens, Enosis Philoptochos Society and the Waterford Senior Citizens.
Funeral service will be held at 10 am Sat. Apr. 16, at the St. Sophia Hellenic Orthodox Church in New London.
Burial will follow in the Cedar Grove Cemetery in New London.
Visiting hours will be held from 6 to 8pm this (FRI) evening at the Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington St., New London.
There will also be a visiting hour at St. Sophia from 9 to 10 am Sat. prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Sophia Church, Hospice of Southeastern Conn., or the Visiting Nurses of Southeastern Conn.

Joseph M. Lawrence
Born in New London, Connecticut on Aug. 7, 1977
Departed on Apr. 19, 2005 and resided in New London, CT.

NEW LONDON - Joseph M. “Paulie” Lawrence, 27, of 21 Penny Lane, New London died Tuesday at Yale New Haven Hospital after a long illness.

He was born in New London August 7, 1977 the son of Paul J. and Cheryl Cioci Lawrence of New London.

Joseph attended and graduated from New London Public Schools. He loved sports of all kinds, including fishing and baseball, and especially enjoyed all of the time he spent with his friends.

In addition to his parents; he is survived by a son; Anthony J. McLaughlin Lawrence of New London, a sister; Beth Lawrence of New London, paternal grandparents; Irving and Doris Lawrence of Waterford, maternal grandparents; Alfred and Anna Cioci of Waterford and his girlfriend; Rachel Ensling of Groton.

The funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday at Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington St., New London. Burial will be in Saint Mary Cemetery. A calling hour will be held from 10:00 AM until the funeral at 11:00 AM. Please omit flowers. Donations in his memory may be made to the Anthony McLaughlin Lawrence Fund, C/O Chelsea Groton Bank, 1 Montauk Ave., New London. CT
