Gary Robert Cini

Gary Robert Cini, 46, of Colman Street, New London, died Tuesday at his home.
Gary was born in Westerly on October 31, 1957 to Robert L. Cini of Groton and Barbara (Hess) Johannemann of Noank. Known for his love of animals, Gary was especially close to his cat.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Barbara and John “Jack” Johannemann of Noank, and his father and stepmother, Robert L. and Donna Cini of Groton.
Gary’s family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Friday from 6-8pm.
His funeral will begin on Saturday at 9:30am and proceed to a Funeral Mass at St. Patrick Church, E. Main Street, Mystic at 10am, celebrated by Fr. Charles A. McGrail, Pastor. Burial will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery, Old Mystic.

David Dunn

David Thomas Dunn, 39, of 10 Orchard Street, Niantic, a victim of carbon monoxide poisoning, cast off his mortal lines in January 12, 2004.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Kelly Cameron Dunn and two daughters, Chelsea age 7, and Alyssa age 3. Davis was a devoted husband to Kelly and to his children, which is reflected by their special loving bond. David also leaves his mother, Patricia B. (Welt) Dunn of Noank and a sister, Karen Dunn Davenport of Ancramdale, NY. His father, David H. Dunn, died in 1980 at the age of 48.
Upon his high school graduation, Dave joined the US Marine Corps. and spent four formative years in the Corps.
David was employed for many years in the local boatyards, most recently at Port Niantic for the last seven years employed as a Head Mechanic.
David’s early years were spent “messing about in boats”, having experience at a very early age with his family on frequent boating excursions. As an older child, he learned to sail at the Ram Island Yacht Club and continued his love of boating throughout his life.
Dave and his family often joined other boating companions for excursions in New England and new York waters on vacations and weekends on his Egg Harbor, “Sea Lark”.
His generosity, abilities, and his willingness to help others made him a well respected member of his community.
A Memorial Service for David will be conducted at The Noank Baptist Church, 18 Cathedral Heights, Noank on Saturday, MARCH 13TH at 11am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall. There are no visiting hours

Florence E. (Pultz) MacGregor

Florence Pultz MacGregor, 90, of 4 Thomas Street, Mystic, widow of Robert E. MacGregor, passed away suddenly on Monday, April 28, 2003, while visiting in Dallas, Texas.
Born in Lebanon, CT on August 30, 1912, to Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Pultz, she attended local schools and graduated from the Joseph Lawrence Hospital School of Nursing in 1936 as a registered nurse.
She worked for over 50 years in nursing.
She was a member of the DAR, Anna Warner Bailey Chapter, Alumni Association of the J.L. School of Nursing, and Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by 3 daughters, Faye Southern of Memphis, Tennessee, Bette Collins of Alexandria, Virginia, and Joan Thorp of Dallas, Texas, seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren, two sisters-in-law and two nieces.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Friday from 5 – 7pm at the Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, historic downtown Mystic. A graveside service will be held on Saturday at 10am at Elm Grove Cemetery, Mystic.

Leonard Paul St. Martin

Leonard Paul “Lenny” St. Martin, age 35, of 518 Mohegan Avenue, Quaker Hill, died Thursday.
Lenny was born in Worcester, MA on September 21, 1967 the son of Diane (Field) Smith of Groton and Leonard A. St. Martin of Florida. He attended local schools and was a 1985 graduate of Fitch High School.
Known as a hardworker and devoted employee, Lenny was employed as general manager of Rosie’s Round the Clock Grill at all three locations for the past 6 years.
An avid golfer, he traveled extensively with friends and family to gold courses around the country.
In addition to his parents, Lenny will be missed by his stepfather, Ernie Smith of Groton, his siblings, Danny St. Martin of Colchester, Stacey Newell, Charles Oliver, Kyle Oliver, and Chad Oliver, all of Groton, a stepsister, Stephanie Smith of Groton and a step-brother, Daniel Smith of Mystic, grandmothers, Dorothy Whaley of Groton and Evelyn St. Martin of MA, his nieces and nephews, niece and nephews, Daniel St. Martin of Griswold, Christopher St. martin of Colchester, Brianna St. Martin of Colchester, Aaron newell and Anthony Santos both of Groton; aunts, uncles, cousins,a nd his dear friends, Steven and Roselle Scott of Westerly, and his devoted dog, “Wrinkles”.
The family invites friends to join them for a Graveside Funeral Service on Tuesday at 1pm at Smith Lake Cemetery (off Rte. 1 across from Poquonnock Bridge Baptist Church), in Groton. There are no visiting hours.
Jane Heivly

Jane E. (Paulhamus) Heivly, 82, of Overlook Ave, Mystic, died Thursday at Mary Elizabeth Nursing Home after a long battle with diabetes.
She was born March 25, 1921 and raised in Montoursville, PA the daughter of George and Louise (Lebzelter) Paulhamus. She married
Elwood M. Heivly on November 15, 1940. He died in 1973. She worked for several years at Electric Boat in Groton, retiring in June of 1988. Mrs. Heivly was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mystic and the Groton Senior Center.
She is survived by 2 sons David A. Heivly of Pownal, ME and Robert E. Heivly of Mystic, 2 daughters Ellen M Chiapperini of Mystic and Barbara J. Holliday of Ledyard, 3 brothers George O., Robert C. and Thomas A. Paulhamus all of Montoursville, PA and 6 grandchildren. Her sister June Smithgall predeceased her in 1997.
A Funeral will be held on Saturday at 9:30 at the First United Methodist Church, 23 Willow Street, Mystic. Burial will follow in Elm Grove Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to the church.

Esther Holmberg

Esther Althea (Crouch) Holmberg died peacefully Wednesday night at Mystic Manor where she had been a resident since April 1. For twenty years she had lived at Daytona Beach and prior to that in Ledyard.
She was born in Ledyard, the daughter of Timothy and Evelyn (Montgomery) Crouch. She was predeceased by her husband, Henry Holmberg, in 1965, an infant son, a grandson, Eric Lotring, two sisters, Ida Wilcox and Anna Bjorn, nine brothers, Giles, Harvey, Timothy, James, George, Raymond, Robert and Leonard, all of CT and Roger of Florida. Also, her long-time friend, Roland Murphy of Daytona.
She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Lotring of Daytona and New Brunswick and Ida Lillibridge of Norwich. Also three grandsons, Todd Lillibridge of Iowa, Scott Lillibridge of Massachusetts, Jon Lotring of Stonington, two greatgrandchildren, John Henry Lotring and Kathrn Marie Lotring, of Stonington, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by three brothers, Everett of Groton, Arthur of Ridgefield, and Paul of Florida.
Esther retired from the State of CT. She was an avid golfer and reader, a talented painter, seamstress and knitter. She had enjoyed travelling and doing volunteer work. She was faithful in her daily devotions.

A Graveside Service will be held on May 17 at 10am at Lambtown Cemetery, Ledyard. The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Mystic is assisting the family.
Franklin J. Foster

Franklin James Foster, 82, of Wolf Neck Road, Stonington died April 22 at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital.
He was a resident of Stonington for fifty-three years; born in New London on October 31, 1920, raised in Groton, and attended Fitch High School.
Mr. Foster, a veteran of World War II, was a runner for the third infantry during the invansion of Normandy. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart and a lifetime member of the D.A.V. and the V.F.W. He retired from Navan Underwater Systems Center where he was a precision engraver for over twenty years.
A man of peace, he was member of the Audubon Society and enjoyed making bluebird houses. His love of nature extended to boating, fishing, gardening, and otherwise observing nature.
Mr. Foster was predeceased by his wife Shirley Foster. He is survived by his three sisters Frances Koslicky of New london, Selma Mendillo of Virginia and Phyllis Johns of Florida and three children, Diane Grella of Old Saybrook, Susan Roderick of Stonington, and Franklin Foster of Arizona. He also has five grandchildren Diane, Rick, Kurt, Duane, Darryl, and seven great grandchildren.
The family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Friday from 5-7pm.
A Graveside Service with military honors will be at Elm Grove Cemetery, Rte. 27, Mystic on Saturday at 10am.

William Jordan

William Jordan, age 91, of 617 Lantern Hill Road, North Stonington, died Monday evening at Pendleton in Mystic with his wife by his side.
Bill was born in Ridgeway, N. Carolina on January 15, 1911 the son of Martha (Ross) Jordan. Raised in N. Carolina, he moved to Connecticut at the age of 18 where he entered the US Army serving during World War II.
He was employed for many years as a farmer in the area where he met his wife of over 64 years, Idabelle (Sebastian) Jordan.
He was a member of the Hugo Simonelli Post, VFW in Mystic and was active with the Eastern Pequot Nation.
In addition to his wife, he leaves several nieces and a nephew.
A Private Family Service will be conducted at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery. There are no visiting hours.

William Nevils

William Henry Nevils, 82 of Irving Street, West Mystic died on November 27 at his home after a brief illness.
He was born in Bennington, VT the son of the late Edward and Anna Nevils. He had retired from EB. He is survived by his wife Patricia Ann Nevils, a daughter, and 3 grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10am at St. Mary Mother of the the Redeemer Church in Groton. Burial will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery, Old Mystic.
In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to Hospice of SE CT, P. O. Box 902, Uncasville CT 06382.
