Jodine A. Curtis, age 50, of West Haven, CT died Monday December 10, 2007. Jodie momma Curtis was not only a mother to her daughter, Brittany Rael, but also to anyone who she adopted into her family. She was loving, dependable, strong, straight-forward, understanding, positive, inspirational and GREAT at cheering you up when you needed it most. Jodie was a caring sister to Jay Beckus, an adoring fiance to Rich Roda, and best friend and confidant to Marilyn Warmflash. Jodie fought hard and well in her battle against breast cancer and will be dearly missed by all. Friends and family are invited for a gathering in her honor at our home on Saturday, December 15 th at 10:00am at 21 Ashburton Place, West Haven, CT. Donations in her memory may be made to Fr. HUBBARD, WILLIAM U.
William U. Hubbard, 79, retired Deputy Police Chief of East Haven, loving husband of 58 years to Bernice Johnson Hubbard died Dec. 11, 2007 in Ct Hospice. Father of Janice Hubbard of East Haven and William A. (Diane) Hubbard of Bellingham, MA. Grandfather of Richard Esposito, Michelle, Kristen, William Jr., Jennifer and Jacqueline Hubbard. Brother of Arthur (Connie) Hubbard of West Haven and the late Phyllis Stanley. Son of the late Arthur M. and Ruffenna Ulrich Hubbard. Bill joined the East Haven Police Dept. Nov. 1, 1953, and was appointed Deputy Chief in 1966, retiring in July of 1992. He was a member of the East Haven Stoners, East Haven Rotary and was a recipient of the Paul Harris Award. He was also a member of the Harry Bartlet American Legion Post 89 of East Haven, the New Haven County Detectives Assn. and CT Chief of Police Assn. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. His funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte 80) East Haven Saturday morning at 8:45. Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Pompeii Church at 9:30 o'clock. CASSIDY, ROSEMARY FERRUCCI
Rosemary Ferrucci Cassidy peacefully passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at the Connecticut Hospice of Branford, surrounded by her family and friends. Born in New Haven and was a lifelong resident of Hamden. She was predeceased by her father Ralph Ferrucci. Surviving are her husband of 52 years William Arthur Cassidy; Her mother Rose Marone Ferrucci; She shared her life with her seven children, Kevin (Barbara) Cassidy, Sharon (Jim) Welch, Janet (Bill) Coughlin, Brian (LeAnn) Cassidy, David (Laura) Cassidy, Laura (Greg) Capuano, and Leigh (Joe) Mangino; She had 25 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Also surviving are her siblings and their spouses, Raffaello Ferrucci, Arlene Steinlauf, Catherine Ferrucci, Nancy Ferrucci (George Rigoulot), Michael Ferrucci (Beth MacArthur); a sister-in-law Mary (George) Caulfield; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her family Rosemary had many friends. She was a retired employee of the Hamden Board of Education. She was a member of the Hamden Women's Club as well as an active member of the Blessed Sacrament Church. Rosemary was also a member of the Irish American Community Center and Irish American Community Center Retirees. She loved to travel, garden, cook and was an avid reader. She will be truly missed by those who loved her. The family would like to offer their heartfelt thanks to the nursing staff at St. Raphaels Hospital and at the Connecticut Hospice of Branford. In addition, the family extends a special thank you to Dr. Jeremy Kortmansky and his staff. Visitation will be Friday, December 14, 2007 from 4 - 8PM at the HAMDEN MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 1300 Dixwell Ave., Hamden, CT 06514. A mass will be offered Saturday, December 15, 2007 at 10AM at the Blessed Sacrament Church, Hamden. Friends and relatives may gather at the funeral home at 9AM. Interment will follow at Beaverdale Memorial Park, New Haven. CARL, HARRY I., JR.
Harry Irving Carl, Jr., 96, a longtime resident of West Haven who most recently lived in Branford, passed peacefully into the next life Dec. 11, 2007, with his beloved wife of 63 years, Catherine Scallen Carl, by his side. Devoted above all to his wife and family, he is also survived by his daughters and their families: Kathleen and Dennis Jones of Lebanon, Ohio, Patricia Carl-Stannard and Edward Stannard of Branford, Eileen Tobin of Clinton and Dr. Timothy Tobin of Old Saybrook, four grandchildren, Patricia Habenicht and her husband Rob, Brian and Meagan Tobin and Luke Stannard. He also leaves his "fourth daughter", Barbara Gallagher Jarry, and devoted neighbor, Maria Stevens. Harry was born June 29, 1916, in West Hartford, son of the late Harry I. and Florence Lawson Carl. He was predeceased by two sisters, Florence Austin and his twin, Helen Wasserman. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Merchant Marine, circling the globe, and braving, among other missions, the dangerous Murmansk run. He graduated from the University of New Haven with a degree in mechanical engineering and worked for International Silver, Electrolux, the Stanley Works and the Perkin-Elmer Corp., where he took part in development of the Hubble Space Telescope. A private recreational pilot, he was a member of the Clinton Flying Club. He was also a literacy volunteer and an avid sports fan, especially of the New York Yankees and Ohio State football teams. He also played the saxophone in Big Bands in the Hartford area. A Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, December 15, at Trinity Episcopal Church on the Green, Temple and Chapel Streets, New Haven. A reception will follow at the church. Burial will be private. Donations in Harrys memory may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 5022, Wallingford, CT 06492. The W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home of Branford is in charge of arrangements.

BOTWICK, HAROLD BARRY
Harold Barry Botwick, 92, of West Normandy Dr., West Hartford, died Wednesday, December 12, 2007. Born in New Haven, he was the son of the late Hyman and Sarah (Aransky) Botwick. He graduated from the University of Richmond in Virginia in 1936, and from the Hartford College of Law in 1938 (now the University of Connecticut Law School). He was a US Army Veteran of World War II, having served as a Captain from 1942-1946. He was in the automotive business for 70 years with the former Capitol Motors Chevrolet in Hartford until 1973, and from 1973 to 2005 with Hoffman Enterprises. Barry was a member of the YMCA; Greater Hartford Jewish Community Center; and a member of Congregation Beth Israel of West Hartford and the Temples Mens Club. He leaves his wife of over 50 years, whom he adored, Devida (Ditman) Botwick; his son Jay Botwick and his wife Cindy of West Hartford; daughter Fern Botwick Goode and her husband Scott of Bardstown, KY; grandson Alexander Botwick; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. He was predeceased by his brother George Botwick and by his sister, Shirley Abramson. The family wishes to express it special thanks to his care giver Ewan Lovelace. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 14, 2007 at 10:00 AM in the Beth Israel Cemetery, Avon, with Rabbi Michael Pincus officiating. A memorial period will be observed at his home, 34 West Normandy Dr., West Hartford, Friday following the funeral, and Saturday evening from 5-9 PM. Moore, 66, of Hamden, died Thursday, December 6, 2007 at Arden House, Hamden. Daughter of the late John E. Johnson and Elreesso Johnson of Hamden, widow of Darnell A. Moore. Survived by stepdaughters, Nuella Baker, Sharon Meadows and Yvonne Moore all of California. Also survived by sisters, Patricia Younger of Hamden, Caroleen (Ronald) Nelson of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, Sharon O'Neill of Hamden, Phyllis Johnson of Hamden, Freda Gordneer of New Haven and Kathryn (Sunni-Ali) Islam of Columbus, Ohio. Predeceased by daughter Michelle Moore, 2 brothers and 1 sister. Funeral services will be Thursday, December 13, 2007 at 11 am at New Hope Baptist Church, 109 Butler St, New Haven, with calling hours between 9-11 am. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery. BURNS, WILLIAM L., JR. (PIANO MAN)
William L. (Piano Man) Burns, Jr., 64, of Branford, formerly of Maine died Dec. 6, 2007 in the W.H.V.A. Medical Center. Father of Patricia (Gino) Clini of Orange, Rebecca (Anthony) Korkodilos and Sandra Burns both of Milford, Christine Burns of West Haven and Danielle Burns of Branford. Brother of Louise Criscuolo and Eric Burns of Branford, Paul Burns (NHFD) of East Haven and David Burns of Thomaston. Also survived by eight grandchildren and several nieces & nephews. Son of the late William L. and Selma Pierson Burns, Sr. He was an Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam era. Friends may call at the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte. 80) WEDNESDAY from 6-8 pm. ANASTASIA, LOUISE
Louise Geraci Anastasia of 137 Middletown Avenue North Haven died December 9, 2007 in the Hospital of St. Raphael. She is the wife of the late Salvatore Anastasia. Mrs. Anastasia was born in Springdale, Pennsylvania, September 27, 1913 a daughter of the late Salvatore and Jennie Lavalla Geraci. Her lifes work was in the food business and real estate. The last restaurant she owned and managed was the Ninety One Steakhouse in North Haven. She is the mother of Philip Palma and his wife Alice of Branford and the late Patricia Ann Bernardo and Andrew Anastasia. Sister of Philip Geraci and the late Virginia Nicolella, Josephine Sette, Lawrence, Michael, Anthony, Sam and Leo Geraci. Also survived by 10 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, many beloved nieces and nephews and her special friend and companion Ken Guiles. Funeral from the IOVANNE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 11 Wooster Place, Thursday morning at 9:30. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Anthonys Church at 10. Entombment in All Saints Mausoleum. PUGLISI, CHARLES
October 3, 2010
Charles Puglisi, 83, of Cheshire, passed away Oct. 3, 2010 in St. Raphael’s Hospital. He was the husband of the late Lucille Guerra Puglisi. Mr. Puglisi was born in New Haven March 16, 1927, son of the late Charles J. and Mollie Dest Puglisi. He was a property manager for the family owned Guerra Realty for 15 years prior to his retirement in 2003. Prior to that, he was a building contractor for many years. He served in the US army after World War II. He is survived by a daughter, Patricia A. Puglisi and her husband, Peter Papoosha of Cheshire. He was the canine grandfather of “Gator” and the late “Cuda”. Also survived by many loving nieces & nephews. Special uncle to Mark (Lucille) Dermer and dear friend of James and Marie Krieg. He was predeceased by a brother, Louis Puglisi and a sister, Marion Dermer. Friends may call at The Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm St. (cor. IANNUZZI, ETHEL ROSE
September 27, 2010
Ethel Rose “Rusty” Iannuzzi, 76, of Woodbridge, passed away Sept. 27, 2010 at The Arden Courts, Hamden surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of Carmine N. Iannuzzi. Rusty was born Feb. 11, 1934 in Chaffee, MO., daughter of the late Leonard and Mary Louise Ziegler Schmitt. Upon her marriage in 1953, Rusty and Carmine Sr. established their home in Woodbridge where they raised their seven children. In the late 1960’s, Rusty established her home day care center. For more than 35 years, she dedicated herself to providing hundreds of area children and their families with a safe, loving and nurturing environment. She was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church. An avid cook and gardener, she loved her flower and vegetable gardens. She is survived by four daughters, Gloria (Michael) Calhoun of Bethany, Cynthia Iannuzzi of Westport, Teresa Iannuzzi (Elliott Schlessel) of Woodbridge and Lisa Iannuzzi of New Haven; three sons, John (Susan Randall) Iannuzzi of New Smyrna Beach, FL., Carmine Iannuzzi Jr. of Bethany and William Iannuzzi of Woodbridge; four grandchildren, Victor (Catherine) Calhoun, Andrew, Anthony & Melinda Calhoun; and one great granddaughter, Rose Calhoun. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Arden Courts for their tender and loving care given to Rusty in the last years of her life. VALANZUOLO, RALPH
September 23, 2010
Ralph Valanzuolo, 97, husband of the late Lucy DeCrosta Valanzuolo died peacefully at home in New Haven on September 23, 2010. He was born in Marseilles, France on December 23, 1912 a son of the late Vincenzo and Maria Minetti Valanzuolo. Mr. Valanzuolo started as a barber with his father and eventually became a realtor. He also sold insurance and was a mortgage broker. Ralph was a member of the New Haven Board of Realtors for many years and served as President of the Elm City Evening Lions Club. He is survived by his sons; Vincent Valanzuolo of New Haven, Ralph Valanzuolo of East Haven, and Paul Valanzuolo of New Haven, a brother; Adolph Valanzuolo of Hamden, and a grandson; Ralph Valanzuolo of Branford. He was predeceased by his brother George Valanzuolo and his sisters; Elizabeth Ciccarelli, Eva Saverese, and Catherine Iannucci.
His funeral will depart the The Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm St. (cor. Dwight) New Haven Monday at 9:20 AM. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael's Church, 29 Wooster Pl., at 10:00. Friends may call Sunday from 4-7 PM. Interment in Beaverdale Memorial Park.

NUZZO, RAYMOND A. SR.
September 21, 2010
Raymond A. Nuzzo Sr., 69, husband of Elizabeth (Cookie) Denison Nuzzo, passed away peacefully Sept 21, 2010 in Kissimmee, FL. He was a born in Stamford Dec. 17, 1940 a son of the late Dominick and Rose Aiello Nuzzo. Mr. Nuzzo started as a driver and eventually became the Safety Director for the CT Limousine Service and Carey Bus Transportation. After his retirement from CT Limo he worked for the State of CT as a Correctional Officer. Also a veteran he served two years in the Coast Guard before serving four years in the US Army. Upon moving to Kissimmee in 1995 he worked for and retired from Universal Studios, Orlando. Besides his wife he is survived by daughters; Deborah Lee Nuzzo and Mary Rose Nuzzo Bianchi of Kissimmee, FL, sons; Dominick Samuel Nuzzo of Enfield, CT, Raymond Andrew Nuzzo Jr. of West Hollywood, CA, and Michael Christopher Nuzzo of Kissimmee, and his brother Ralph J. Nuzzo of New Mexico. He is also survived by his 3 grandchildren; Sean A. Nuzzo, Lisa Marie Bianchi, and Dominick E. Nuzzo, and his great grandchildren; Caleb and Sage Nuzzo.
