Elwood Demond McHenry
Elwood Demond McHenry, 31, of Meriden, husband of Latasha L. (Weaver) McHenry, passed away on Thursday, May 21. Born in Florence, South Carolina, he was the son of Elwood McHenry Jr. of Owensboro, Ky. and Jessie Hyman McHenry of Pamplico, S.C.
Besides his wife and parents, he is also survived by a daughter, Emira, and a sister, Segee Holley of Pamplico, S.C.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 26 at 12 noon at Shiloh Baptist Church, 346 Butternut Street, Middletown with the Rev. Dr. W. Vance Cotten Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery in Middletown.
Friends and family may call one hour before the service from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at the church.
The Doolittle Funeral Home, 14 Old Church Street, Middletown is handling the arrangements.

Joyce M. Grenman
Joyce M. Grenman, 78, of Hernando, Fla., passed away May 22, 2009, at her home under the care of her family and Hernando-Pasco Hospice.
She was born on April 27, 1931, to John Carini and Azelza (Wilcox) DeCantillon. Joyce moved to Citrus County seven years ago from West Charleston, Vt. She retired from Sibley Company in Haddam, and was a member of the VFW Post 4252 of Hernando.
In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her daughter, Nancy Louise Grenman. Survived by her husband, Ernest Grenman of Hernando, Fla.; four children, Gunnar Grenman of Higganum, John Grenman of East Hampton, Nancy Tucker of Higganum, James Grenman of Portland; and five granddaughters.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 31, at 2 p.m., at The Higganum Congregational Church. Joyce gave the gift of donation to the Anatomical Board of the State of Florida located at the College of Medicine, University of Florida in Gainesville.
Donations can be made to the Hernando-Pasco Hospice, 12107 Majestic Blvd. Hudson, FL 34667.

Concettina Carta
Concettina (Aresco) Carta, 90, of Buenos Aires, Argentina, wife of the late Sebastiano Carta, passed away on May 28. She is survived by her children in Argentina; a sister, Elena Garofalo of Cromwell; also several nieces and nephews in the Middletown area. A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, June 6, at 5 p.m. in St. Sebastian Church.

Henry George Deubert
Henry George Deubert, 81, of Higganum, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on May 30. Henry is survived by his wife, Barbara Andeen Deubert, with whom he recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
In addition to Barbara, he is survived by his five daughters and sons-in-law: Lynn and Frank Caparaso, Lee and William Bria, Lorette and Louis Nosal, Darcy and Greg Ward and Dana and Howard Blythe. Henry was also the proud grandfather of eight: Alyssa and Jake Caparaso, William and James Bria, Steven and Olivia Nosal, and Katelyn and Ryan Darna.
Born in Brooklyn in 1927 on June 21, Henry served in the Navy during World War II, and then worked as a crew member for Moran shipping, stationed on the Harriet Moran tug boat. Henry moved to Connecticut in 1949, where he was employed by the State of Connecticut. As he often said, Henry was lucky in love — he met his wife, Barbara, as a teenager and married “his beauty” in 1949, and enjoyed a wonderful marriage during which they raised their five daughters. In 1951, he joined Southern New England Telephone Company, beginning work as a lineman and retiring from the company as a district manager in both New Haven and Hartford after more than 35 years of service. An avid traveler, Henry and his wife traveled and camped across the United States, visiting almost every state, and touring the majority of our national parks.
A memorial service for family and friends will be held Friday, June 5, at 5 p.m. at Higganum United Methodist Church, 248 Saybrook Road, Higganum. Donations in Henry’s memory can be made to the Salvation Army or, in honor of his grandson, who suffers from a rare autoimmune liver disease, donations can be made to PSC Partners Seeking a Cure, 5327 South Kenton Way, Englewood, CO 80111. PSC is a foundation to raise funds to research causes and cures for liver disease. Biega Funeral Home has care of the arrangements.

Anne Micciulla
Funeral services for Anne Micciulla, wife of the late Dave Micciulla, of Leegebrook Lane, will be held this morning at 10:30 a.m. at D’Angelo Funeral Home, 22 S. Main St., followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. at St. Sebastian Church. Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Sebastian Cemetery, Middlefield. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home this morning from 9 to 10:30 a.m.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Middlesex Hospital Hospice Unit c/o Department of Philanthropy, 28 Crescent St.

Joseph E. Biega Sr.
Joseph E. Biega Sr., 94, of Port Charlotte, Fla., formerly of Middletown and Westbrook, beloved husband of 70 years to Marion (Novak) Biega, died peacefully Feb. 7, 2009, in Port Charlotte, Fla.
He was born in Wallingford, Dec. 24, 1914, the son of the late Victor J. Biega Sr., and Mary (Poluszny) Biega. Joe was a graduate of Lyman Hall High School, Wallingford, and later graduated from American Academy of Mortuary College, N.Y., in 1935. He established Biega Funeral Home, in its present location, in 1939 and was president until his retirement in 1982.
Joe was very involved in all aspects of community life. He was an active parishioner of St. Mary’s Church, Middletown. He served as the parish chairman of St. Mary’s Church for Xavier and Mercy High School’s Building Campaign Fund, was a member of the St. Mary’s Church Seniors Club, a former member of the Norwich Dioceses Board of Education and former president of Catholic Charities. Joe was a member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree Bishop McFarland Assembly and Forest City Council No. 3. He also organized St. Mary’s Boy Scout Troop No. 41 and served as its first scoutmaster in 1941, served as the president of the Middlesex Council for two terms and was a member of the Middlesex Boy Scouts Council for several years, among the 40 years he devoted to scouting. Joe was chairman of the Middlesex Red Cross Chapter for two terms, chairman of the first annual Red Cross Golf Tournament, lifetime member of the Polish Falcon Nest No. 519 and the Polish Knights Society, former president of the Middletown Lions Club and was also recognized in 1986 for “Outstanding Lions Achievements.”
He, as a business owner, was involved with various business organizations in the area. He was the first recipient of the Liberty Bell Award, presented by the Middlesex Bar Association, served as the emeritus director and corporate member of the former Farmers & Mechanics Savings Bank, former director and advisory member of Connecticut Bank & Trust Company, emeritus trustee of Indian Hill Cemetery Association, director emeritus of Middlesex Hospital, board of directors of Rockfall Corporation and was recipient of the Middlesex County Distinguished Citizen of the Year by the Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce in 1996. Joe was past president of the Connecticut Funeral Directors Association from 1958 to 60; formerly on the advisory board of the International Order of the Golden Rule of Independent Funeral Directors and of the National Funeral Directors Association in 1960.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Joseph Biega Jr. of Aruba and Robert Biega and his wife, Jackie, of East Haddam; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Dr. Stanley Biega and Victor Biega Jr.; two sisters, Mary Steinke and Caroline O’Neill; and a daughter-in-law, Theresa Biega.
The funeral liturgy will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary of Czestochowa Church, 79 S. Main St., Middletown. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown, Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. Those who wish may send memorial contributions to St. Mary School, 79 S. Robert E. Pisa Jr.
Robert E. Pisa Jr., 36, of Beacon Street, Hartford, died Wednesday, June 10, 2009, at his home.
He was born Nov. 27, 1972, the son of Josephine (DiStefano) Pisa of East Hampton and the late Robert Pisa Sr.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his sister, Luciene Parsley of Baltimore, Md.; his uncle, Joseph Pisa and his wife, Mary, of Middletown; and two nieces. He had a very good friend, Terry Flowers, who was very devoted to him.
Funeral services are private and burial will be at the convenience of the family. Biega Funeral Home has care of the arrangements.

On Sept. 15, 2008, the angels came and took Tris to her father's house from Redondo Beach, Calif. Formerly of Enfield and Portland, she was 26 years old. A celebration of life was held in Redondo Beach, Calif., Sept. 27, 2008. May she finally find peace. Amen.

Margaret Winford
Margaret (Myers) Winford, 66, of McKenna Drive, Middletown, wife of the late Willie Winford Jr., passed peacefully at Yale New Haven Hospital on Thursday, July 16, 2009.
She was born August 14, 1942, the daughter of the late Preston and Sue (Woody) Myers. She was employed at Connecticut Valley Hospital for 25 years. During her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her beloved grandchildren.
Margaret will be remembered for her comforting and welcoming expressions to everyone.
She is survived by her daughters, Lisa Dempsey and her husband, Randy, and Pam Winford, all of Middletown, and her grandchildren, Shanice, Damien and Tevin of Middletown; her sisters, Jeanette Marshall of Lansing, Michigan and Doris Wimes of Hartford; and two brothers, Preston Myers of Meriden, and Kim Myers and his wife Paula of Plantsville; and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Zion First Baptist Church, 16 James A. Moses Ave., Middletown. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at Zion First Baptist Church Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m., prior to the service. Repass will be held at Zion First Baptist Church. Biega Funeral Home has care of the arrangements.

Anastacia M. 'Stacy' 'BA' Kyc
Anastacia M. “Stacy” “BA” Kyc, of East Hartford, widow of John P. Kyc and daughter of the late Anna (Bojko) and M. Belasco, passed away peacefully on Friday, Aug. 14, 2009, surrounded by her loving and devoted daughters at Middlesex Hospital. She was born Nov. 26, 1920, in Hartford. Anastacia began her career at Veeter Root, then Travelers Insurance Co., the U.S. Postal Service, and retired from the City of Hartford’s Civic Center Box Office in 1986. Anastacia loved playing bingo, playing poker and various card games with her family and mostly just spending time visiting and sharing stories with her family.
She leaves her children, Kathleen and her husband, Michael Pillion, of East Windsor, Johanne and John Meehl Jr. of Middletown and Kimberly Anne (Kyc-) and Glenn Frechette of Manchester. Anastacia’s daughter, Janice Gagnon, predeceased her, along with her brother, Michael Belasco, and sisters, Mary Borowski and Judy Dobzinski. Anastacia was blessed with nine loving grandchildren: Matthew and his wife, Sarah, Michael and fiancé, Sheary, Kara and Jared, Alyssa and Leanne, Jessica and Andrew, Jennifer Lynne, Jonathan, Nicholas, Jennifer and Michael. She also leaves the loves of her life, who brought “BA” much happiness, her four great-grandchildren: Jasmyn, Michael John, Sophia and Stella: along with numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.
The family would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Ronald Szabo for his many years of care of its mother, as well as Dr. Joyce Yang along with the Hospice Staff at Middlesex Hospital and especially all her many friends at Middlesex Health Care Center. Funeral services will be Tuesday, Aug. 18, 9 a.m., at Callahan Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m., in St. Cyril Methodius Church, Hartford. Burial will follow in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Calling hours are Monday, Aug. 17, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial donations to Middlesex Hospice Unit, c/o Development Office, 55 Crescent St., Middletown, CT 06457.

William 'Bill' D. Lintz Jr.
A Memorial service of praise and thanksgiving for William “Bill” Lintz Jr., 80, of Parmelee Hill Road, Durham, husband of Hope (Norden) Lintz, will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 1055 Randolph Road, Middletown, followed by burial with military honors at the State Veterans Cemetery. Friends may visit with his family Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m., at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver Street, Middletown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Grace Lutheran Preschool, 1055 Randolph Road, Middletown, CT 06457 or the charity of your choice.

Frances J. Ahlquist
Frances J. Ahlquist, 83, lifelong resident of Middletown, beloved wife of the late Daniel C. “Cliff” Ahlquist, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Aug. 15, at Middlesex Hospital, with her children by her side. She was born in Middletown, Feb. 6, 1926, the youngest of five children of the late Susan (Herdman) and James Jones. She was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. Frances was a retired employee of the State of Connecticut, and over the course of her employment worked in the Office of the Comptroller, the Department of Motor Vehicles and the Medical Records Department of Connecticut Valley Hospital. She was a past president of her local chapter of the CSEA/SEIU Local 2001. Frances was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish. She will be remembered for always having a craft project in the works; sewing, crocheting and painting were just a few of the hobbies she enjoyed, along with listening to traditional Irish music. Frances was happiest at the beach and loved her annual summer vacations at Hawk’s Nest Beach. She also treasured the memories of the three trips she took to Ireland. But most of all, she delighted in being with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Frances was predeceased by her son, Daniel, and three of her siblings: James Jones, Mary Schaefer and Susan Shafer. She is survived by her sister, Catharine Zachary, of Raleigh, N.C. She is also survived by her children and their spouses: Patricia Ahlquist of Old Saybrook, Patrick and Joan Ahlquist of Cromwell, Francis and Jane Ahlquist of West Hartford, Robert and Susan Miller of Hebron and her daughter-in-law, Martha Ahlquist of Avon.
She will be missed by her grandchildren and their spouses: Ericka and John Miller, Jennifer Freberg and Jake Ayer, Arie Freberg, Amy and Christopher Keithan, Ryan Ahlquist, Christopher Ahlquist, Pamela and Christopher Harley, Douglas Miller and Daniel Ahlquist. Her cherished great-grandchildren are Trevor Gale, Matilda Miller, Tyler Keithan and Zachary Keithan.
Frances also leaves an extended family of cousins, nieces, nephews and many good friends.
The funeral liturgy will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, Elm Street, Middletown. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Middletown. Friends may call at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown, Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at Middlesex Hospital, 28 Crescent St., Middletown, CT 06457.

Pat (Menditto) DiMauro
Pat (Menditto) DiMauro, 91, of 1 McDonough Place, Middletown, wife of the late Salvatore DiMauro, died Saturday at Middlesex Health Care Center.She was born July 11, 1918, in New Britain, daughter of the late Carmine and Rose (Petrucelli) Menditto. She was a member of St. Sebastian Church, The Knights of Columbus Auxiliary and the Mothers Circle. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Coca Cola of Middletown as a bookkeeper.
She is survived by a son, Paul DiMauro of Wallingford; two brothers, Thomas Menditto and Frederick Menditto, both of New Britain; two sisters, Dolores Woodward of New Britain and Mary Jane Lynch of Hartford; also several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Menditto, and a sister, Susan Nappi.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at D’Angelo Funeral Home, 22 S. Main St., Middletown, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m., at St. Sebastian Church. Burial will be in the family plot in St. Sebastian Cemetery, Middlefield. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Virginia Italia
Virginia Italia, formerly of Middletown, died at Center for Hope Hospice in Scotch Plains, N.J., on Aug. 14, 2009. She was 81.
Born in Portsmouth, N.H., Mrs. Italia spent most of her life in Middletown, raising her family. She was devoted to her family and moved to New Jersey from Connecticut to be near her grandchildren. She was a parishioner of Corpus Christi Church and a member of the Chatham Senior Citizens. She loved to dance and spend quality time with her family and friends. Her spirit and energy were felt by all who knew her.
She was the beloved wife for 38 years of the late Rosario. Loving mother of Linda Molstad and her husband, Gary, of New Providence, Steven Budleski of Rolesville, N.C., and William Budleski and his partner, Liz Mansfield, of Raleigh, N.C. Devoted grandmother of Michael and Emily Molstad. Cherished sister of Jeanette Piquol of Meriden. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Corpus Christi Church, 234 Southern Blvd., Chatham Twp., N.J., on Wednesday, Aug. 19, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Fair Mount Cemetery in Chatham. Friends may call at the Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Chatham, N.J., on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Those who wish may contribute in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 400 Morris Ave., Suite 251c, Denville, NJ 07834.
