Rosa Rivera, 85, of Willimantic, widow of Esmeraldo Rivera, died Sunday, 8/22/04, in her home.
She was born Dec. 21, 1918 in Anasco, PR the daughter of Ricardo and Ramona (Rivera) Quintana.
Her survivors include her children: Ernie, Maria, Angel Efrain, William, Lydia, Blanca, Edwin Rivera, Rosa Soto, Roberto and Eddie Crespo; a sister, Petra Ingles and a sister-in-law, Telesfora Colon. She also leaves 28 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Her family will receive friends Wednesday, from 6 to 8 P.M. and again Thursday, from 10 to 11 A.M. at the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St. Willimantic. We will then proceed to St. Joseph Cemetery for her Graveside Service.

Clifford H. Frost
08-30-1919 - 8/18/2004
Clifford H. Frost, 84, of Willimantic, beloved husband of Roma (Cote) Frost, died Wednesday, August 18, 2004, in the Haven Health Center of Windham.
He was born Aug. 30, 1919 in Manchester, CT the son on William and Sarah (Pierson) Frost.
Mr. Frost was employed by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford for many years. He later worked for Hamilton Standard and finally for Electric Boat in Groton, retiring 20 years ago. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Willimantic.
Besides his wife, he leaves a brother, George Frost of Manchester and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral and burial will be private. There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary’s Church Repair Fund, 80 Maple Ave. Willimantic, 06226.

Elfriede Traichel
11-18-1922 - 7/1/2004
Elfriede Traichel, 81, of Willimantic, widow of Gustav Traichel, died Thursday, 7/1/04, in the Haven Health Center of Windham.
She was born Nov. 18, 1922 in Jargara, Roumania the daughter of Otto and Salomena (Mueller) Schweigert.
She was a member of the German-American Social Club. Mrs. Traichel enjoyed visits to the casino, and playing Bingo at various local clubs. She was also an avid gardener.
Her survivors include a daughter, Erika Taylor and her husband, George of Hopedale, MA; two sons: Helmut Traichel and his wife, Paulette of Windham and Karl Traichel and his wife, Nancy of Northford, CT; six grandchildren: Eric Chartier, Jeannine Hanscom, Brian Traichel, Beth Falzone, Julie Traichel and David Traichel. She also leaves three great grandchildren: Ryan and Sarah Hanscom and Madison Chartier and four sisters in Germany.
Her Graveside Service will be held Thursday, 7/8/04, at 11 A.M. in the New Willimantic Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. There are no calling hours.

MARTINEZ, EDITH
March 7, 2010
Edith Erickson Martinez, 92, formerly of 311 Eastern St., New Haven died peacefully in her sleep on March 7, 2009 in Laurel Woods, East Haven, just four days after her 92nd birthday. She was born March 3, 1918 in Fair Haven, daughter of the late Iver Erickson and Elisabeth Wicks Erickson. She leaves behind to always cherish her memory her daughter, Judith Fetherston of Virginia; two sons, Ronald Martinez of Georgia and Peter Martinez of Connecticut; a sister, Mae Swartz of Maine; as well as her beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, especially Billy and Priscilla. The family would like to thank the staff at Yale New Haven Hospital and Laurel Woods for their care and kindness; and especially to her home health aids Marilynn and Delia for their extraordinary and loving care over the years.
Friends are invited to attend funeral services in The Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm St. (cor. Dwight) New Haven Monday, March 15th at 1:00 PM. Private burial will be held in Fair Haven Union Cemetery at a later date.

MARTINDALE, MARY ANN
March 6, 2010
Mary Ann Horan Martindale, 69, of 785 West Main St., West Haven passed away March 6, 2010 in Lawrence & Memorial Hospital, New London. She was the widow of William H. Martindale. Mrs. Martindale was born in New Haven Jan. 31, 1941, daughter of the late John and Gladys Hines Horan. She worked in the Stop & Shop Bakery Dept. in Orange until her retirement. She is survived by a son, Chris (Jody) Martindale of Groton; a daughter, Renea Martindale (Richard Martinez) of Mansfield; a daughter in law, Michele Martindale of West Haven; a sister, Lillian (Charles)Foster of Milford; and five grandchildren, Niccoletta (Nicholas Murasso) Harrington, Marissa, Angellina, Richard Jr. and Zacery William; and a niece, Nicole Foster. She was predeceased by a son, William J. Martindale. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial in St. Lawrence Church, Main & Union, West Haven Saturday, March 13th at 11:00.

GUSTAFSON, PAUL A.
March 4, 2010
Paul A. Gustafson, 68, of Lakewood Ranch, FL (formerly of Hamden, CT) died suddenly on March 4, 2010 while on vacation with his wife and friends in Taormina, Sicily. He was the husband of Elaine M. Gustafson.
Paul enjoyed a full life, before and after his retirement, and loved traveling the world with his wife. His greatest joy was his seven grandchildren, and he delighted in gathering his large family together.
Service to others and being a supportive and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend were the touchstones of his life.
Mr. Gustafson was born in Lynn, Massachusetts, where he graduated from St. Mary’s High School. He received a bachelor’s degree from Boston University and completed post-graduate management programs at the Harvard Business School and the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
His business career spanned 45 years. He started as a salesman and rose steadily through the managerial ranks in the manufacturing industry. In 1979, he became the general manager of Emhart Corporation’s Pop Fastener Division. Shortly thereafter, he move with his family to Hong Kong and assumed the role of Vice President for Pacific Rim Operations. In 1988, he was named Emhart’s Vice President for European Operations based in Birmingham, England. When Emhart was acquired by Black and Decker, he became Executive Vice President of the Corporation and CEO of Emhart Teknologies. He retired in 2007. Throughout his career, Mr. Gustafson was known for his strategic insight and understanding of the global marketplace. He mentored many young executives and also sought to inspire creativity in American engineers through the annual “Create the Future Design Contest, ” an award he sponsored through Emhart Teknologies for innovative industrial design concepts. In 2007, Mr. Gustafson was elected to serve as Chairman of the Board of Quinnipiac Bank and Trust Company of Hamden, CT, a bank he helped to establish.
Mr. Gustafson dedicated himself to community service, a commitment inspired by his Catholic faith. For 17 years, he served as a trustee of the Hospital of St. Raphael of New Haven, CT. He had a particular interest in helping the hospital fulfill its mission to help poor and underserved patients. In 2009, the governing board of the hospital presented him with the Archbishop Henry J. O’Brien Award for outstanding leadership. He, along with his wife, Elaine, supported a student scholarship program at Yale School of Nursing. He was a strong supporter of his alma mater, St. Mary’s Boys High School in Lynn, Massachusetts.
For his commitment to Catholic education, he was presented with the Richard Cardinal Cushing Award in 2006 in recognition of his untiring effort on behalf of Catholic education and for commitment to the improvement of educational opportunities for young men and women. He was elected to the St. Mary's “Hall of Fame” for his efforts on their behalf.
He was a strong supporter of the St. Joseph’s Carpenter Society of East Camden, NJ, a non-profit organization that helps families improve their quality of life and their neighborhoods through home ownership.
Mr. Gustafson was a dedicated mariner. He spent much of his retirement sailing with his wife on their boat, the Santa Clara, cruising the Atlantic coast from New England to Florida and the Gulf of Mexico.
He leaves his loving wife, Elaine, five children and seven grandchildren.
They are: his son Paul and his wife Lesley Gustafson, and their children Frances and Margaret, of Madison, CT; his daughter Danielle and her husband William Clarke, and their children Catherine and Annika, of North Kingstown, RI; his daughter Amanda Gustafson and her husband Eric Olsen, and their daughter Magny of Shelburne, VT; his son Peter and his wife Robyn Gustafson, and their children Linnea and Edward of Fort Collins, CO; and his son Andrew Gustafson of Brooklyn, NY. He also leaves one sister, Patricia. Paul, known as “Coach” to his grandchildren, was an extraordinarily devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Clare, and by his brother, Robert.
Calling hours will be held Friday, March 12 from 5- 8 p.m. at Celentano Funeral Home (424 Elm St, New Haven, CT). A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Thomas More Catholic Chapel at Yale (268 Park Street, New Haven, CT) on Saturday, March 13 at 11 a.m. A reception at noon will follow the Mass. The burial will be held at a private ceremony at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Paul’s memory may be made to:

MAIORANO, VIVIAN G.
March 2, 2010
Vivian G. Maiorano, 72, of 20 South Pond Circle, Cheshire, formerly of New Haven, passed away March 2, 2010 in St. Raphael’s Hospital after a long and courageous battle with illness. Born in New Haven Aug. 13, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Philip B. and Assunta (Susie) DeMaio Maiorano. She was a hairdresser for many years, working at various hair salons in the East Haven area. She is survived by three sons, Donald (Joanne) Dunlop of North Haven, Christopher Dunlop of New Haven and Philip A. Maiorano Sr. and his partner, Paul Moore of Hamden; two daughters, Donna (Joseph) Riccio of Estero, FL. and Dawn (Robert) Piscitelli of Cheshire; a sister, Rosemary (Anthony) Zembrowski Sr. of Branford; 11 grandchildren and her cousin and special friend, Catherine (Butch) Pethick of East Haven. She was predeceased by two brothers, Philip (Ricky) Maiorano Jr.& Pasquale (Patsy) Maiorano. Funeral from The Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm St. (cor. Dwight) New Haven Friday, March 5th at 9:45 AM. Mass in St. Thomas Becket Church, Cheshire at 10:30. Friends may call prior to the funeral from 8:30 to 9:45. Interment in St. Lawrence Cemetery.

TORRES OCASCIO, MATEO
March 1, 2010
Mateo Torres Ocascio, 71, of 321 Eastern St., Bella Vista, died March 1, 2010 in Yale New Haven Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Sarai Torres Garcia. Born in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico Oct. 21, 1938, he was the son of the late Pedro Torres and Moncerrate Ocascio Torres. Prior to retirement, he worked as a butcher. Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Samuel (Elizabeth) Torres of New Haven, Matthew Torres Jr. and Peter (Betsy) Torres, both of Kissimmee, FL.; a daughter, Denise Santaella and her husband, Pastor Edgar Santaella of New Haven; 8 brothers, 4 sisters, 7 brothers-in-law and 3 sisters-in-law as well as more than 60 nieces & nephews.
Friends may call at the Second Star of Jacob Christian Church, 201 Chapel St. Wednesday, March 3rd from 6 to 9:30 PM. Services begin at 7:00 PM. Funeral Thursday at 9:00 AM. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery

RUOCCO, FRANK M.
March 1, 2010
Frank M. Ruocco, 62, of Alps Road, Branford passed away March 1, 2010 in Yale New Haven Hospital. Born in New Haven June 9, 1947, he was the son of Victoria Santabarbara Ruocco of Branford and the late Gennaro “Gene” Ruocco. At one time, he worked as a baker for the family operated Rositani’s Bakery. Besides his mother, he is survived by two sons, Frank and Dustin Ruocco; a daughter, Tracey Storer; two brothers, Gennaro (Nancy) Ruocco Jr. of Windham, N.H. and Col. Thomas R. (Betty) Ruocco, USAF (ret.) of Newark, Delaware; two sisters, Betty Ann (Wayne) Sawicki of Orange and Wenndi Ann (Michael) Freer of Encinitas, CA.; three grandchildren, several nieces & nephews; and his close friend, Joy Storer.
Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Infant Church, 450 Racebrook Rd., Orange Saturday, March 6th at 10:00
