Madeline A. Saverese, 79, of 619 Harbor View Road, Orange passed away Feb. 28, 2010 in The CT. Hospice, Branford. She was the wife of Vincent (James) Saverese. Mrs. Saverese was born in New Haven May 31, 1930, daughter of the late William and Mildred F. Shortell Moritis. She and her husband operated Saverese Package Store on State St. in New Haven for more than 35 years prior to her retirement. She is survived by two sisters, Shirley Willie of San Diego, CA. and Maureen Handy of Chester, CT. as well as several nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, William Moritis Jr. and John Moritis; and by three sisters, Eleanor Sansone, Mildred Fee and Beverly Moritis.
Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph’s Church, 129 Edwards St., New Haven Thursday, March 4th at 9:30 AM. Interment will follow in Beaverdale.Friends may call prior to the funeral from 8 to 9:00 AM

DANKO, BOHDAN
February 27, 2010
Bohdan Danko, 80, of Gilbert Ave., New Haven passed away Feb. 27, 2010 in The Conn. Hospice, Branford. He was the husband of Sofiya Prokopiak Danko. Mr. Danko was born in Chortkiv, Ukraine on July 6, 1929, son of the late Wasyl and Sophia Danko. He came to this country in 1949. He worked as a librarian at Southern CT. State University for 15 years prior to retirement. An active parishioner of St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, he was a member of the choir; was a leader of PLAST and a member of Ukrainian National Home. Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Julia (Michael) Cleary of Norwalk and a cousin, Emilia Waniw. He was predeceased by his first wife, Wasylyna Shramenko Danko. Friends are invited to attend funeral liturgy in St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 569 George St., Tuesday, March 2nd at 9:00. Interment in St. Andrew’s Cemetery, South Boundbrook, N.J. PACELLA, FLORENCE
February 21, 2010
Florence Goodmaster Pacella, 92, of Masonic Ave., Wallingford went home to be in the arms of the Lord on Feb. 21, 2010 at Masonic Home in Wallingford. She was the widow of Michael Paul Pacella and was a long time resident of 16 Gilbert Ave., New Haven. Born in New Haven Jan. 23, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Pasquale and Maria Mastrobuoni. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a payroll clerk for Yale University and before that, she worked at the former McKesson & Robbins Co. She was a member at large of the Gold Star Wives of America; a member of New Haven Council of Catholic Women and West Haven Kalidoscope Quilters. She will be remembered as the family historian for the Mastrobuoni (Goodmaster) family and as a great Italian cook. She was a second mother to her nieces & nephews. She is survived by a sister, Maria Poach of Wallingford; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was predeceased by four brothers, Emilio (Victor), Edmund, Eugene E. and Edward P. Goodmaster.
Fineral from The Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm St. (cor. Dwight) New Haven Wednesday, Feb. 24th at 9:30. Mass in St. Anthony’s Church at 10:00. Friends may call prior to the funeral from 8:30 to 9:30 AM. Interment in St. Lawrence Cemetery.

NUSDEO, ANTHONY N.
February 15, 2010
Anthony “Tony” Nusdeo, 74 of 277 Great Oak Rd., Orange died peacefully at his home on Feb. 15, 2010 after a brief illness surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Teresa DeGioia Nusdeo. Mr. Nusdeo was born in New Haven on May 10, 1935, son of the late John & Mary Fanelli Nusdeo. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a painting contractor and served in the US Army. Besides his wife he is survived by his children, John Nusdeo of West Haven, Anthony Nusdeo of Greensboro, N.C., Marla Nusdeo Doheny of Madison and Michael Nusdeo of Orange. Anthony will be greatly missed by his son-in-law, Peter Doheny; his daughters-in-law, Mary & Julie Nusdeo; and by the joys of his life, his 11 grandchildren, Daniel, Anthony, Lindsey, Bridget, Patrick, Peter, Annie, Kevin, Matthew, Sean & Ellie. He is also survived by a brother, Nicholas Nusdeu of East Haven; two sisters, JoAnne Esposito of Hamden & Anne Marie Russo of Milford; as well as many nieces, nephews and close friends. He was predeceased by two brothers, Dominick Nusdeu and Frank Nusdeo, and four sisters, Anna Talnose, Lucille Angelo, Carmel Montano and Theresa Nusdeu. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Infant Church, 450 Racebrook Rd., Orange Friday, Feb. 19th at 10:00 AM. A private interment will follow. OGONOWSKI, MITCHELL
February 15, 2010
Mitchell Ogonowski, 80, of Schupp Road, Hamden died Feb. 15, 2010 after a brief illness. He was the husband for 61 years of Gloria D’Andrea Ogonowski. Mr. Ogonowski was born in New Haven March 6, 1929, son of the late Walter and Mary Ogonowski. He graduated from Hillhouse High School in 1947 where he was co-captain and center on the football team. He later attended University of Maryland where he also played football. He served in the US Army where he served as a cook. He was the owner and operator of D’Andrea’s Three Acres Motel in Woodbridge for many years. He was an active parishioner of the Church of the Ascension where he served as head usher and was a member of the Village Unity League. He enjoyed dancing, especially at the West Haven Boardwalk. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Cathy-Sue Hundley of Chatham, Il. And Dale Ann “Dee Dee” Ayotte of Woodbridge; a brother, Frank Ogonowski of New Haven; and four grandchildren, Gloria Sue, Melissa Sue, Tanya Marie and Jeffrey Robert. He was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Ogonowski and a sister, Emily Rusate.
Funeral from The Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm St. (cor. Dwight) New Haven Saturday, Feb. 20th at 9:15. Mass in the Church of the Ascension, 1040 Dunbar Hill Road, Hamden at 10:00. Friends may call Friday from 4 to 8 PM. Interment in Beaverdale Memorial Park.

LUPOLI, JOSEPHINE M.

Josephine Marie Lupoli, 83, formerly of 200 Brookside Ave., New Haven died Feb. 4, 2010 in St. Raphael’s Hospital. Born in New Haven Aug. 9, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Josephine Ciancola Lupoli. Prior to her retirement, she was a mail clerk for the USPO.
Friends are invited to a graveside service in St. Lawrence Cemetery (Oratory of the Madonna) Monday, March 1st at 1:00 PM

Margaret D. Valliere

Margaret D. Valliere, 66, of North Windham, beloved wife of 42 years of Richard W. Valliere, died Thursday, 6/17/04, in the W.W. Backus Hospital in Norwich.
She was born Sep. 17, 1937 in Wauregan the daughter of Alfred and Dora (Bessette) Aubin.
Mrs. Valliere was employed by Walbaum Super Market for 25 years, retiring in 1999. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Willimantic. Margaret was a devoted wife and mother and enjoyed life and playing with her grandchildren.
Besides her husband, her survivors include a daughter, Brenda Anderson and her companion, Mark Danforth of Tolland; two sons: David Valliere of Mansfield and Kenneth Valliere and his wife, Julie of Willimantic. She also leaves two grandchildren, Rachel and Rylee Valliere and five nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, 6/22/04, at 10 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church in Willimantic. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Windham. The family will receive friends Monday, from 6 to 8 P.M. and again on Tuesday, from 9:00 to 9:30 A.M. at the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St. Willimantic.

Marie R. Michaud

Marie R. Michaud, 45, of Willimantic, beloved wife of Gene T. Michaud, died Tuesday, 6/15/04, at home.
She was born Jan. 19, 1959 in Willimantic daughter of the late Maurice and Claire (Tremblay) Segar.
Marie was a manager at the Willimantic Fleet Bank for many years, then transferred to the PUTNAM Fleet Bank and promoted to Assistant Vice President. She recently received the 25 Year of Service Award from Fleet. She mentored through the Fleet Cheers for Reading Program at Sweeney School in Willimantic. A member of the Women of the Moose, she received their highest award, “Star Recorder.” She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church.
Besides her husband, her survivors include a son, Matthew Godbout, a daughter, Jennifer Gonzales and her husband, Allen all of Willimantic; two sisters: Judith Pompei and her husband, Joseph of Scotland, Laraine Rodriguez and her husband Joseph of Hampton; a brother, Maurice Segar and his wife, Linda of Cary, NC. She also leaves several nieces and nephews and a brother-in-law, William Kingsley of North Franklin. She was predeceased by her sister, Janice Kingsley and three nephews: Michael Pompei, Quentin and Noah Lavey.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, 6/21/04, at 11 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church in Willimantic. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Windham. The family will receive friends Sunday, from 6 to 8 P.M. and again Monday, from 10:00 to 10:30 A.M. at the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St. Willimantic.

Josephine G. Vesco

Josephine (Giraca) Vesco, 88, of Willimantic, widow of Joseph Vesco, died Sunday, 6/13/04, in the Haven Health Center of Windham.
She was born Dec.23, 1915 in Willimantic the daughter of Augustus and Josephine (Maskery) Giraca.
She had been employed by S.N.E.T for 25 years, retiring 25 years ago. Mrs. Vesco was a communicant of St. Joseph Church in Willimantic.
Her survivors include two daughters: Geraldine Puglia and her husband, Laurence and Sally Miller, all of Willimantic; three grandchildren: Tammy Rosario, Cheryl Beebe, and Jeffrey Miller. She also leaves eight great grandchildren: Leticia, Quinton, Larissa, Andrew and Jaden Rosario, Joshua Miller, Jordan Beebe, and Arisina Miller. She was predeceased by her son, Michael and son-in-law, Edward Miller, Jr.
Her Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, 6/16/04, at 11 A.M. in the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St. Willimantic. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Windham. Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:00 A.M.

John W. Harold

John W. Harold, 47, of Willimantic, died Sunday (July 18, 2004) in St. Joseph Living Center after a brief illness.
He was born July 23, 1956 in Willimantic the son of William and Josephine (LaVecchia) Harold of Willimantic. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his son, Patrick, daughter, Lauren and brother, Michael. He also leaves behind his former wife, Janis Anthony and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. John was a graduate of Windham High School and the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy. He had been employed as a pharmacist for several area pharmacies and as a consulting pharmacist at Aetna, CIGNA and the Travelers.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, 7/21/2004, at 11 A.M. in St. Joseph’s Church in Willimantic. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Windham. The family will receive friends Wednesday, from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. at the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St. Willimantic.

Tatjana Szpika

Tatjana Szpika, 81, of Willimantic, widow of Iwan Szpika, died Friday, April 09, 2004 in her home.
She was born Feb. 16, 1923 in Korolyczy, the Ukraine the daughter of Yakiw and Maria (Myszczenko) Burlaczuk.
Mrs. Szpika had been employed by the University of CT for several years, retiring in 1988. She was previously employed by the Electro-Motive Co. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Irene Petsa of Windham; two Grandchildren, Sonya Ware of Windham and Zenko Petsa of Columbia. She also leaves four great grandchildren: Devyn Petsa, Tatyana Ware, Tyler Ware and Alexis Petsa. She was predeceased by her son-in-law, Anatole Petsa.
Her Panahyda Service will be held Tuesday, 4/13/04, at 9:30 A.M. in the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St. Willimantic, followed by a procession to St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church for her Funeral Mass at 10 A.M. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Windham. Calling hours are Monday, from 6 to 8 P.M. with the Panahyda Service at 7 P.M.
