William Lee Puckett, 82, died August 8, 2007 in Windham Hospital. He was born August 18, 1924 in Alexandria, VA the son of George Henry and Annie Elizabeth (Dolan) Puckett. He was a World War 2 Army veteran, serving from 1943 to 1946 and in the European Theatre from 1945 to 1946. He was employed at the Electric Boat Division of General Dynamics for 26 years, retiring in 1984. He is survived by Earlene Pearl Lawrence, Lonnie Edward, William Lawrence, Virginia Ann, Terrance Walter, Randle Lee and Kevin Dwayne. He also leaves a brother, George Thomas Puckett of North Carolina. He was predeceased by his parents and three brothers, Henry, Louis and Freddy. His burial, with full military honors, will be Thursday at 1 p.m. in the CT Veterans Cemetery in Middletown, CT. The Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St. Willimantic has charge of arrangements.

Kenneth Douglas Bellows

Kenneth Douglas Bellows, 53, of Willimantic, died Wednesday, 6/13/07 in Windham Hospital. He was born December 4, 1953 in Willimantic the son of Douglas E. and Shirley (Vadnais) Bellows of Mansfield Center. Ken was an avid fisherman. Besides his parents, his survivors include a daughter, Melissa Dee Roy of Southwick, MA and a brother, Thomas Bellows of Mansfield. He also leaves several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, including his lifelong friend, Thomas Boisvert of Lebanon. His Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, 6/20/07, at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph Cemetery in Windham. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary’s Church Repair fund, 80 Maple Ave. Willimantic, CT 06226. The Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St. Willimantic has charge of arrangements.

Albert P. Legace

Albert P. Legace, 74, of Willimantic, beloved husband of Christine (Loomis) Legace, died September 5, 2007 in Windham Hospital. He was born September 9, 1932 in Willimantic the son of the late Albert P. and Yvonne (DeCelles) Legace, Sr. He was employed by the Town of Windham for 43 years. Besides his wife, his survivors include three sons: Albert Legace, III, James Legace, David Legace and his wife, Kathy all of Willimantic; four daughters: Marie Hiltz and her husband, Jack, Sandy Legace, Mary Hiltz and her husband, Wayne all of Willimantic and Roberta Legace of Manchester. He also leaves nine grandchildren: Dave, Melissa, Justin, Danielle, Stephanie, Bill, Emily, Albert and Crystal; also four great grandchildren: Brian, Lilly, Jacob and Amanda. He was predeceased by three sisters: Theresa, Blanche and Alberta. His family will receive friends Saturday, 9/8/07, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St. Willimantic, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Davita Windham Dialysis, 375C Tuckie Rd. North Windham, CT 06256.

William Alfred Dionne

William A. Dionne, of Mansfield, beloved husband of Irene (Desautels) Dionne, died Friday, 7/6/07, in Windham Hospital. He was born May 11, 1934 in Willimantic, CT the son of the late William J. and Rose (Thibeault) Dionne. He was a Quality Control Lab Technician, retiring from Brand Rex in 1997. He married Irene Desautels in 1962. Besides his wife, his survivors include a son, Glenn E. and his wife, Jennifer of Ballston Spa, NY, a daughter, Tammy of Kennesaw, GA and he was “Pepere” to Harmony, Noah, Kevin, Silas, Elijah, and Selah, who completed his world. He also leaves a sister, Frances B. Ely of Willimantic, many nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends who will miss him greatly. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, 7/10/07, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church in Willimantic. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Windham. The family will receive friends Monday, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St. Willimantic. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Regina Haddad Nero
02/18/1943 - 6/11/2007
Regina Haddad Nero, 64, of Fort Myers, Florida and Westerly, Rhode Island, formerly of Windham, CT passed away at home on June 11th, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her first husband of 29 years Frederick L. Haddad and is survived by her husband of 6 years, William T. Nero. Regina was born in Terryville, CT on February 18, 1943, the daughter of the late Vincent and Regina Klimas. She attended St. Anthony’s High School in Bristol, CT and was a graduate of Merrimack College in Massachusetts where she earned her teaching degree. She received her Master’s Degree in English from Central Connecticut State University. Regina taught English at the Connecticut Regional Vocational Schools, and was awarded Teacher of the Year for the state of Connecticut in 1988 from Windham Tech. Regina enjoyed crafts, traveling, and had a passion for shopping, but most of all she loved spending time with her family. Regina was the epitome of class and beauty. She is survived by her four children, Kathryn and her husband Richard Balogh of Windham, Valerie and her husband Brian Cassidy of Somers, Melissa and her husband Sonny Gerardi of South Boston, and her son Frederick Haddad II and his wife Tracy of South Boston. She also leaves behind six grandchildren, Jessica, Jenna, Jordan, and James Balogh and Shea and Sydney Cassidy. Her three siblings, Valerie Rouleau of Terryville and Mary Ann Jenne of Plaistow, New Hampshire, and her brother Vincent Klimas of Terryville also survive Regina. As well as her in-laws Robert and Elaine Haddad of Columbia and Paul and Nancy Haddad of Cheshire, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Regina is also survived by her six stepchildren, Nancy Panciocco, William Nero, Jr., Patrick Nero, Joseph Nero, Daniel Nero, and Christopher Nero and their spouses and 11 step grandchildren. Calling hours will be Friday, June 15th from 4pm to 8 pm at the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St. Willimantic, CT. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, June 16th at 11:15 am at St. Joseph Church, Jackson St. Willimantic, CT. William F. Harold

William F. Harold, 80, of Willimantic, beloved husband of Josephine (LaVecchia) Harold, passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2007 at Hartford Hospital after a brief illness. He was born November 16, 1926 in Willimantic the son of William and Bridget (Shea) Harold. A graduate of Windham High School, he served in the U.S. Navy in World War ll. He had been employed by the American Thread Co., retiring many years ago. In addition to his wife, his survivors include a son, Michael W. Harold, two grandchildren, Patrick and Lauren Harold; two sisters, Julia H. Barbero of Dudley, MA and Katherine M. Lariviere of Willimantic. He also leaves numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by a son, John. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, July 30, 2007, at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church in Willimantic. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Windham. The family will receive friends Monday, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St. Willimantic followed by a procession to the church. Doris (West) Martel

Doris (West) Martel, 69, of Windham, formerly of Coventry, beloved wife of Joseph Raymond Martel, died Thursday at home. She was born June 21, 1937 in Manchester, CT the daughter of the late Percy and Albertina (Boudreau) West. Besides her husband, her survivors include a son, Raymond Martel and his wife, Tracey of Coventry, two daughters: Gloria Santa Lucia and her husband, Peter of Westford, MA and Carol Santa Lucia and her husband, Francis of Windham. She also leaves seven grandchildren: Betsy, Christina, Michelle, Lucas, Hannah, Alicia and Kyle and a great granddaughter, Angela Mancuso. She was predeceased by her siblings, James West and Marie Modean. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, 6/5/07, at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church in Willimantic. Her family will receive friends Monday, from 6 to 8 p.m. and again Tuesday, from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. at the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St. Willimantic. Edward J. Luond

Edward J. Luond, 75, of Willimantic, beloved husband of Lorraine (LaBrie) Luond, passed away on June 2, 2007 in Windham Hospital. He was born Feb. 20, 1932 in Eagleville, CT the son of Eagleville’s first fire chief, Frank M. Luond and his wife, Stella. Edward was a graduate of Windham High School Class of 1950. He worked at the UConn Central Warehouse Purchasing Division more than 36 years, retiring in 1987. After retiring, he worked part time for 23 semesters for the UConn Dining Services Division. Ed was a volunteer with the Eagleville Fire Dept. for 10 years and served as a callman with the Willimantic Fire Dept. for 20 years. He served four years in the Navy during the Korean War. He liked baseball, fishing and was an avid bowler, bowling in 4 different leagues at various times at Willi Bowl which included over 25 years with the Adam & Eve League. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Willimantic where he was a money counter for the church collections. He is predeceased by his parents, a son, Mark E. Luond, a brother, Francis Luond and a sister, Evelyn Morton. Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Robert F. Luond of Willimantic, and a son, John M. Luond and his wife, Debbie and a granddaughter, Elisabeth A. Luond of Scotland; a cousin, Alice Noheimerand her husband, Michael; three sisters-in-law: O’Tila Luond, Lillian LaBrie and Doris Meraty and her husband, James; five nieces and a nephew: Patricia Ferance, Linda Harbec and her husband, Albert, Judith Kirschbaum and her husband, Klaus, Marilyn Meraty, Lisa Dudley and her husband, Ron and Frank “Paco” Luond. He also leaves many grand and great grand nieces and nephews. A niece Nancy Meraty predeceased him. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, 6/7/07, at 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Windham. Relatives and friends are invited to call Wednesday, from 6 to 8 p.m. and again Thursday, from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St. Willimantic. Louis P. Koval

Louis Koval, 86, of Windham, beloved husband of Mauricette (L’Herbier) Koval, died Friday, June 2, 2006, in Hartford Hospital. He was born Dec. 15, 1919 the son of Paul and Constance (Chmura) Koval. A lifelong resident of Windham, he was employed by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford for many years. Louis was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the VFW Gold Star Post 1724, the Willimantic Elks Lodge 1311 and a communicant of St. Joseph Church. He enjoyed gardening and shopping. In addition to his wife, his survivors include his daughter & son-in-law, Joyce & Robert Nye of North Windham, two grandsons & their wives, Robert & Kathleen Nye and Cheyne & Jesica Nye all of North Windham. He also leaves four great grandchildren: Jared, Jacob, Jordan, and Morgan all of North Windham. He was predeceased by four brothers and a sister: John, Victor, Maxey and Walter Nye and Sophia Gazda.His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, 6/8/06, at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph Church in Willimantic. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Windham. The family will receive friends Wednesday, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St. Willimantic. Elisabeth Buisson

Elisabeth (Powaluk) Buisson left our lives on 2/6/06 after a sudden illness. Lillie was a devoted wife and mother, full of strength and courage. She gave lovingly, unselfishly and tirelessly to her family.
She weathered the many storms in her life with courage & integrity. She maintained the rich German culture and traditions of her native land and at the same time, Lillie embraced America, learning its language and pursuing the opportunities it offered. Lillie leaves her son Roman Powaluk and his wife Sandy of Middletown, RI. Her daughter Suzanne Powaluk and her fiancee Daniel of Newington, CT. Her very cherished grandchildren and great-granddaughter.
Her Funeral and burial will be private. There are no calling hours.

Cecilia A. Almon

Cecilia A. Whalen Almon, 83, of Willimantic, beloved wife of the late John J. Almon, Sr., died Tuesday, 2/7/06, in Glastonbury.
She was born Aug. 8, 1922 in Fall River, MA the daughter of Frank and Cecilia (Sullivan) Whalen.
She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Fall River. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She took great pride in her role as a homemaker. She always made time to help someone in need, whether it was a ride to the hospital, a ride to church, or to just be a friend. She always looked forward to times with her children and grandchildren. Cecilia spent the last four years at Laurel Gardens in Glastonbury, where she received great care from wonderful people.
She is survived by four daughters and five sons-in-law: Adrienne & Mike Dohn of Charlotte, NC, Marilyn & Eddie Morton of Albermarle, NC, Barbara & Anthony Zaritheny of Mansfield, Lori & Thomas Kurasz of Norwich, and John Schone of West Hartford; three sons and daughters-in-law: John J. Almon, Jr. of Charlotte, NC, James W. & Denise Almon of West Hartford and Robert G. & Faye Almon of Charlotte, NC. She also leaves 21 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was also predeceased by her daughter, Janet Schone, grandson, Christopher Kurasz and her brothers, Frank & James Whalen.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, 2/11/06, at 10 a.m. in St. Josephs Church in Willimantic. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Windham. Her family will receive friends Friday, from 6 to 8 p.m. and again Saturday, from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. at the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St. Willimantic. Donations may be made, in her memory, to Vitas Hospice Care, 255 Pitkin St. East Hartford, CT 06108.

Also survived by 7 grandchildren. Predeceased by a son Michael Budz and a sister, Barbara Sciarra. Mr. Budz was born in the Ukraine on December 12, 1917, a son of the late Nickolas and Maria Budz. He worked in manufacturing for U.S. Steel for many Years. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Branford.
Funeral from the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 504 Main St. Branford Monday at 9:30 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 at St. Mary's Church in Branford. Burial will be private. Patricia Ann Urban

Patricia Ann (Peltier) Urban, 60, of Lebanon, passed away peacefully at the W. W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, CT, surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born March 7, 1945 in Willimantic to the late Clarence and Alice Peltier.
She married Robert J. Urban on August 1, 1964 and they celebrated 41 wonderful years together.
Patricia was a loving wife and mother and will be greatly missed. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, feeding the local wildlife, and cared deeply for all animals, including her two favorite cats, Ashley and Mocha.
In addition to her devoted husband, she leaves four children and their spouses: Robert and Lisa Urban of Griswold, Melissa and Robert Devaux of Chaplin, Brenda and Paul Malley of Canterbury and Leon Urban of Lebanon. She has five grandchildren, who were the light of her life: Shelbi, Matthew, Joshua, Robert and Danielle. She also leaves several nieces and nephews, who kept a special place in her heart. She is predeceased by a daughter, Krista Jean, two brothers, Alfred Arnold and William Arnold and a sister, Virginia Peacock.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, 2/4/06, at 10 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 67 W. Town St. Lebanon. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Friends may call Friday, 2/3/06, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St. Willimantic. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 238 West Town St. Norwich, CT 06360.
