Margaret Corso, 84 of 2145 Pierce St., Hollywood, FL. died Nov. 19, 2009 in Memorial Regional Hosp., Hollywood. She was the widow of Philip R. Corso. Mrs. Corso was born in Somerville, N.J. on Nov. 14, 1925. She was the step mother of Philip R. Corso Jr., Geraldine & Paula Corso, all of New Haven. Also survived by 3 grandchildren, 1 great grandson & 1 great granddaughter.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Graveside service in St. Lawrence Cemetery (Section Y) Monday, Nov. 29th at 11:00 AM.

SHABON, MICHAEL
November 15, 2009
Michael Shabon, 93, formerly of Griffing Pond Rd., Branford passed away Nov. 15, 2009 in the Fowler Nursing Center. Mr. Shabon, an Army veteran, was married to Galena Fomchenko Shabon while serving in Russia during WWII. He was born in New Haven September 24, 1916, son of the late Stephen and Anastasia Shabon. Following his military service he worked as a polisher for Winchester Repeating Arms. Mr. Shabon is survived by his niece Barbara (Robert) Santone of Branford; 7 great nieces and nephews, Kenneth (LeAnn) Santone, Catheryn (Mark) DeCaprio, Gregory (Lila) Santone, Timothy (Gerarda) Santone, Paul, Susan, and Peter DeFrancesco; and 16 great great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Anna and Antanena Shabon and Dorothy Charlis, and a niece Patricia DeFrancesco.
Funeral services will be held in the The Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm St. (cor. Dwight) New Haven Wednesday Nov. 18th at 11:00 AM. Friends may call prior to the service from 9 to11 AM. Interment in Beaverdale Memorial Park. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the nurses and caregivers from the Fowler Nursing Center for their comfort and support.

SPERATORE, EILEEN M.
November 12, 2009
Eileen Lucy Molloy Speratore, 90, of 10 Hard St., New Haven passed away Nov. 12, 2009 in the Hospital of St. Raphael after a brief illness. She was the widow of Nicholas Speratore. Mrs. Speratore was born in New Haven Jan. 9, 1919 a daughter of the late Raphael and Julia Woods Molloy. She was a Navy veteran of WW II and worked as a clinical assistant at Yale New Haven Hospital for 10 years before retiring at age 59. Mrs. Speratore is survived by her daughter Kathleen Speratore Marra (Michael) of New Haven, nephews John and Thomas Knudsen, and several great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved son Victor Raphael Speratore and her sisters Kathryn Knudsen and Dorothy Elliott.
Funeral from The Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm St. (cor. Dwight) New Haven Tuesday, Nov. 17th at 9:30. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Aedan’s Church, 112 Fountain St., New Haven at 10:00. Friends may call prior to her funeral from 8:30 to 9:30 AM. Interment in St. Lawrence Cemetery.

SAVINO, LOUISE V.
November 10, 2009
Louise V.Savino, 61, of 128 Ford Road, Woodbridge, passed away peacefully at her home on Nov. 10, 2009 She was the beloved wife of Gennaro Savino. Mrs. Savino was born in New Haven April 16, 1948, daughter of Mrs. Louise Chirico of West Haven and the late Charles Chirico. She liked to travel and enjoyed her numerous trips to Italy. Besides her husband and mother, she is survived by a son, Michael J.(Sonia) Savino and a daughter, Concetta (Keith) Arnold, both of Woodbridge; and two grandchildren, Gennaro & Sadie.
Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Center Rd., Woodbridge, Friday, Nov. 13th at 10:00 AM. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no calling hours. Interment in Mt. St. Peter’s Cemetery, Derby. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The CT. Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405.

GIATRELIS, NICHOLAS P.

Nicholas P. Giatrelis, 84, of 85 Park Avenue, Hamden, passed away Nov. 5, 2009 in Yale New Haven Hospital. Mr. Giatrelis was born in Pawcatuck, CT. June 10, 1925, son of the late Peter N. and Mary Boulas Giatrelis. He was a graduate of Cheshire Academy and Univ. of Connecticut. He had his own office supply business for many years until his retirement.. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy with 148th Seabees in the Asiatic Pacific War Zone. He was Past President of the North Haven Rotary Club; Past President of Chapter 98, Order of AHEPA; Past District Governor of Yankee District No. 7 and Supreme Governor of the Order of AHEPA, and was a member of Trumbull Lodge No. 22, A.F. & A.M. He is survived by a daughter, Deana Townsend of Hamden; three sons, Peter N. Giatrelis and Terry ( Michele) Giatrelis, both of North Haven, and Nicholas (Maureen) Giatrelis of Northford; a sister, Penelope “Penny” (Louis) Basel of Stamford; and 7 grandchildren. Friends may call at The Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm St. (cor Dwight) New Haven Sunday from 4 to 8 PM and are invited to attend funeral services in St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church, 480 Racebrook Road, Orange, Monday, Nov. 9th 12:00 Noon. Interment, with military honors, in Beaverdale Memorial Park. Contributions may be made to St. Barbara Church Building Fund.

Theresa Coppola Grasso of 850 Mix Avenue in Hamden died December 7, 2005. She was the wife of the late Joseph Grasso. Mrs. Grasso was born in New Haven February 1, 1917 a daughter of the late Fred and Matilda Chevette Coppola and attended the Clelian Center. She is the mother of Joseph Grasso Jr. and the late Lorraine Maisano. Sister of the late Josephine Zullo, Anna and Angelina Coppola. Grandmother of Lorie McDuffee, Kristine Tyc, Angelo J. Maisano, Tenille Millhouse and Joseph Grasso III. Great grandmother of Tyler, Brandon, Dylan and Corey.

Carmel Morro Ruggiero, formerly of Townsend Avenue in New Haven, died December 8, 2005 in Talmadge Park. She was the wife of the late Ralph A. Ruggiero. Mrs. Ruggiero was born in New Haven September 13, 1916 a daughter of the late Catello and Pasqualina DeFelice Morro and was a seamstress at Golia Dress. She is the mother of Linda Deme Drago, Ronald Ruggiero, Ralph Ruggiero Jr. and the late Gloria Cotter. Sister of Ann Morro and the late Rose Ruoppolo, Lucy DePalma, Anthony, Fred, Julius, Pat and James Morro. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 2 great granchildren. She was predeceased by her granddaughter Patricia Deme Nolt.
Funeral from the Iovanne Funeral Home, Inc. 11 Wooster Place Monday morning at 10. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael's Church at 10:30. Burial in St. Agnes Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Monday morning from 9 to 10 am. Memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity.

Jean F. Bevvino

Jean F. Bevvino age 78 of Hawkins Road Ansonia entered into her eternal rest Saturday June 9, 2007 in CT Hospice Branford. Mrs. Bevvino was the devoted wife of the late Alexander A. Bevvino, Sr.
Mrs. Bevvino was born in Derby Feb. 24, 1929 daughter of the late George Cherbonneau and Mary Landolfi, and has been an Ansonia resident for over 48 years.
She was a retired travel agent for Corporate Accounts at the Farrell Corp. for over 40 years until her retirement in 2000. She a member of and Treasurer of the Ansonia Senior Citizen Center were she actively worked on the budget, and ran BINGO. Mrs. Bevvino also believed in being active in her community in many ways, including working on Election Day, and volunteering in Griffin Hospital, the local convalescent homes, and the Ansonia Library. In her spare time she enjoyed traveling, was an avid reader, but most of all enjoyed spending time with her friends and family.
She is the beloved mother of Alexander Bevvino, Jr. of Milford, Cheryl Bevvino of Bethany, and Deborah Bevvino, of Reading, PA. She is the sister of Paul Landolfi, of Seymour, and Barbara Thomas of Sacramento, CA. She also leaves 5 loving grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and several nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by a grandson.
Friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday at 9:00 AM in St. Mary’s Church 212 Elizabeth Street Derby. Entombment will follow in Mt. St. Peter Garden Mausoleum Derby. There are no public calling hours.
At the request of the family memorial contributions may be made to CT Hospice 100 Double Beach Road Branford, CT 06405. The Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home 253 Elizabeth St. Derby has been entrusted with her arrangements.

Antonina "Bonnie" Staffieri

Antonina “Bonnie” Staffieri age 81 of Golf Road Orange entered into rest Tuesday June 26, 2007 in CT Hospice in Branford. She is the devoted wife of 53 years to Joseph Staffieri, Jr.
Mrs. Staffieri was born in Bridgeport Dec. 19, 1925 daughter of the late Daniel and Nicholina Bonitatibus and was an Orange resident for over 20 years previously living in Stratford for over 20 years. She was employed as an assembler for over 17 years for Bic Pen in Milford. After her retirement she worked part time for Shop Rite in Milford.
She is the beloved mother of Joseph Staffieri III Ansonia, Daniel A. Staffieri and his wife Dondi of Seymour.
She is the loving sister of Dora Bonitatibus, Gino Bonitatibus and his wife Anna Mae of Shelton, Russell Bonitatibus and his wife Grace of Jacksonville, FL, and the sister-in-law of Norma Bonitatibus.
She is the cherished grandmother of Jesse, Joey, and Nicholas, and great grandmother of Kaylin, and also leaves several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her brother Daniel Bonitatibus.
Friends may greet the family on Friday from 4 to 7 PM in the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home 253 Elizabeth Street Derby. On Saturday her funeral will leave the funeral home at 8:00 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial at 8:30 AM in St. Mary’s Church Derby. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
