Helene Collins,

of Stamford and Laurel, Md., died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2000 at Courtland Gardens Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Stamford. She was 74.

She died of Parkinson's disease, according to her family.

Born Nov. 14, 1925, in Denkingen, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Josef and Anna Schnee Betting.

Mrs. Collins sold Avon for more than 30 years.

She is survived by a son, Eric D. Collins of Stamford; and four grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, John Collins.

Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m., today, Sept. 28, 2000 at Leo P. Gallagher and Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer St., Stamford.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Sept. 29, 2000 at St. Michael Church, 469 North St., Greenwich.

Burial will follow in Queen of Peace Cemetery, 25 Camp Ave., Darien.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson Disease Foundation, 710 W. 168th St., 3rd Floor, New York, NY 10032.

Sanna Borge,

wife of entertainer Victor Borge, died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2000 at their home in Greenwich. She was 83.

She died of congestive heart failure, according to her family.

Born Aug. 16, 1917, in Otwell, Ind., the former Sarabel Scraper started her own business representing commercial artists in Chicago. There she met Victor Borge and gave up her clients to devote her energies to his burgeoning worldwide career. They married in 1953.

Mrs. Borge, an avid reader and gardening enthusiast, traveled extensively with her husband, establishing homes in Denmark, St. Croix, Portugal, Southbury and Greenwich.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Sanna Feirstein of New York City, Janet Crowle of St. Michael's, Md., and Frederikke Borge of South Egremont, Mass.; two sons, Ronald Borge of Rowayton and Victor Bernhard (Vebe) Borge of New York City; a sister, Bettye Downey of Dayton, Ohio; and nine grandchildren.

A private service was held Sept. 22.

Memorial donation may be made to Greenwich Hospital.

Fred D. Knapp & Son handled arrangements.

Michele Ann Walker,

a Norwalk resident, died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2000 at home. She was 37.

She died of cancer, according to her family.

Born Jan. 23, 1963, in Valhalla, N.Y., she was a daughter of Ethel Barnes of Tarrytown, N.Y., and the step-daughter of Victor Borras of Tarrytown.

Mrs. Walker earned a bachelor's degree in marketing from Elmira College. She worked at MCI Worldcom in Rye Brook, N.Y., where she was a telecommunications manager.

She was a member of Union Baptist Church in Stamford, where she was an adviser to the youth choir and a member of the UBC Gospel Choir. She was a former member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Tarrytown.

In addition to her mother and step-father, she is survived by her husband, the Rev. John W. Walker of Norwalk; two step-daughters, Shonte' D. Walker and Choncei J. Walker, both of Norwalk; three sisters, Sandra Barnes of Tarrytown, Cheryl Jones of Ossining, N.Y., and Lugenia Kimberly Barnes of Raleigh, N.C.; and one step-grandson and one niece.

She was predeceased by two daughters, Baby Girl Walker and Faith Briohonna Walker.

Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000 at Shiloh Baptist Church, 90 North Washington St. at Wildey Street in Tarrytown and 10 a.m. to noon Monday, Oct. 2, 2000 at Union Baptist Church, 805 Newfield Ave., Stamford.

A homegoing celebration will follow at noon in the church.

Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery on Woodland Place in Stamford.

Baker Funeral Services, 84 South Main St., Norwalk, is handling the arrangements.

Nicolas Sarmiento Martinez,

a lifelong resident of Guatemala, died Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2000 at Middlesex Medical Center Shoreline Clinic in Essex. He was 78.

He died of a heart attack, according to his family.

Born Sept. 14, 1922, in Atescatempa Jutiapa, Guatemala, he was the son of the late Eduvijes Sarmientos.

Mr. Martinez was a farmer.

He is survived by seven sons, Dimas Martinez, Nelson Martinez, Edgar Martinez, Eduardo Martinez and Alex Martinez, all of Stamford, Manuel Martinez of Asunceon Meta, Guatemala, and Edwin Martinez of San Francisco; five daughters, Ejidia Martinez, Hilda Martinez and Natividad Martinez, all of Los Angeles, and Leticia Martinez and Lesvia Martinez, both of Guatemala City; three brothers, Afortunato Martinez, Pedro Martinez and Marjo Martinez, all of Ascuncion Meta; and 36 grandchildren.

Mr. Martinez was predeceased by his wife, Jesus Menendez; and a son, Rolando Martinez.

Calling hours will be 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000 at Downer Funeral Home, Inc., 31 Stillwater Ave., Stamford.

Burial will take place in Guatemala.

Theodore L. "Ted" Boccuzzi Sr.,

a Stamford resident for 72 years, died Friday, Sept. 29, 2000 at Stamford Hospital. He was 89.

He died of natural causes, according to his family.

Born Aug. 10, 1911, in San Mango Sul Colore, Italy, he was the son of the late Carmine and Concetta DiNardo Boccuzzi.

Mr. Boccuzzi worked for the Atlas Powder Co. in Stamford, was manager at the former Springdale Ice & Coal and at Graves & Strang Co., and was a maintenance mechanic for Polymer Industries. He also was a self-employed builder and landscaper for the Stamford, Darien, Greenwich and New Canaan areas.

He was a volunteer at the Greenwich Garden Center and a member of St. Leo's Church.

He is survived by four sons, Carmine D. Boccuzzi, John S. Boccuzzi, and Salvatore R. Boccuzzi, all of Stamford, and Theodore Boccuzzi Jr. of Danbury; a daughter, Connie Nelson of Chesterfield, Va.; a sister, Eva Gambali of Naples, Italy; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Calling hours are 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 2, 2000 at Jerome C. Massari & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer St., Stamford.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000 at St. Leo's Church, Roxbury and Stillwater Roads, Stamford.

Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery in Darien.

Memorial contributions may be made to E.M.S. Services of Stamford or the Patchwork Adult Care Center at Palmer Hill.

Thomas R. Bottomly

Thomas R. Bottomly , a resident of Easley, S.C., died Friday, Sept. 29, 2000 at his home. He was 71.

He died of complications from cancer, according to his family.

Born Nov. 22, 1928, in Stamford, he was a son of the late James C. and Helen Marshall Bottomly.

Mr. Bottomly graduated from Northeastern University in Boston. He was retired from his job with the state of Connecticut after 26 years of service.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean War.

Mr. Bottomly was of Protestant faith.

He is survived by his wife, Irene Perusse Bottomly of Easley; two sons, Thomas R. Bottomly of California and Ronald J. Bottomly of Maryland; a brother, James C. Bottomly of Texas ; two sisters, Gladys Palmer of Stamford and Doris Meyers of Maryland; and three grandchildren.

He was predeceased by two brothers and a sister.

There are no calling hours.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 2, 2000 at Robinson Funeral Home in Easley. The Rev. Hubert Bishop will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Francis Hospice, 414 Pettigru St., Greenville, S.C. 29601.
