Peacefully at home July 19, 2003, Virginia Keyes Allendorf of 129 Foxon Blvd., East Haven. She was the widow of Walter Allendorf, JR.
She was born September 16, 1931 in New Haven, daughter of the late John and Virginia Stanford Keyes. She was a bookkeeper, working for the Knights of Columbus and Button Woods Securities until her retirement in 1989. She was a lifelong animal lover and a member of Save The Animals From Extinction.
She is survived by two sons, Walter Allendorf III and his fiancée Paula, of East Haven, Eric Allendorf of West Haven, daughter Dawn Corley of Grants Pass, OR., nephew George Benson of West Haven and niece Corrine Reveaux of Branford, and 10 grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by eight brothers and sisters.
Friends may call Wednesday from 6 - 8 pm at the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 504 Main St, Branford. Burial will be private.

In Branford November 27, 2002, Josephine Petrillo Altrui, wife of the late Ralph Altrui of 115 Hughes St., East Haven.
She was the mother and mother-in-law of Louise and Omer Lapointe of Chicopee, MA, and the sister of Mary Vincelette, with whom she resided in East Haven. She was pre-deceased by two brothers, Frank and Dominic Petrillo.
Mrs. Altrui was born in New Haven May 14, 1911, a daughter of the late Pasquale and Angelina Porto Petrillo, and was a communicant of St. Mary Church in Branford.
Funeral from the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 504 Main St., Branford Saturday morning at 9:30 with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary Church at 10:00. Burial in St. Agnes Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 5 - 8 PM.

Theodora P. Aluska

She was the mother and mother-in-law of Alan S. Aluska of Guilford, and Janice L. and Ronald Rickstad of Grand Isle, VT. Also survived by her former daughter-in-law, Soon H. Kim of North Carolina, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Pre-deceased by a brother Chester Pahootsky.
Mrs. Aluska was born December 11, 1916 in New Britain, CT daughter of the late Albin and Julianna Zurek Pahootski.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Memorial Service on January 4, 2003 in the North Guilford Congregational Church at 11:00 AM.

In New Haven January 1, 2001, Jeffrey D. Burban of 69 Flax Mill Rd., Branford. Beloved son of Daniel S. and Joan Kapinos Burban of Branford. Brother and brother-in-law of Lorelei and David DeFrancesco and Mitchell Burban all of Branford. Uncle of Danielle DeFrancesco of Branford. Also survived by maternal grandmother Sally E. Ingalls of Caldwell, NJ and aunt Sally D. Ingalls of Verona, NJ. Pre-deceased by a brother Daniel S. Burban, JR.
He was born in New Haven September 10, 1962, and was a lifelong resident of Branford. He graduated from Branford High School, and attended SCSU in New Haven. He was a founder of BMB Foods in Branford, and had also worked at the Branford Food Council.
Friends are invited to a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial, Saturday January 20, 2001, at 10 am in St. Elizabeth Church, Branford. THERE ARE NO CALLING HOURS. Burial will be private at the convenience of his family.

Theresa Murphy Ahern

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Theresa Murphy Ahern of 173 Alps Rd., Branford. She passed in peace on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford.
Born in New Haven August 1, 1918, she was the daughter of the late John Francis and Ellen Darney Murphy and she was the beloved and devoted wife of the late Vincent J. "Duke" Ahern.
She will be forever lovingly remembered by her son, Vincent J. (Judith) Ahern, Jr. of Richmond, VA, and her daughters, Mary Pat (Charles) Hildebrandt of Upland, CA, Judith (Peter) Wall of Milford, Joanne (David) Marquis and Terry Ahern of Branford. Survived by seven grandchildren, Bonnie (Kent) Gravely and Morgan (Joseph) Wharff of Richmond, VA, Matthew Hildebrandt of Long Beach, CA, Joseph (Megan) Ahern of New York City, Caitlin Ahern of Leavenworth, Washington, and James Marquis and John Marquis of Branford, she is survived by four great-grandchildren, Jack Ahern Wharff, Luke Andrew Wharff, and Eden Elizabeth and Eliza Jane Gravely of Richmond. Pre-deceased by 5 brothers, John Francis, John Thomas, Dennis, Stephen and Father Terrence Murphy and one sister, Alice Murphy, she is survived by two sisters, Rita Murphy Kelly of Hamden, and Sister Marion Joseph Murphy of West Hartford.
She attended St. Francis Parish School in Fair Haven where she was a proud member of the St. Francis Bugle Corps and she was a graduate of Hillhouse High School.
As a young woman, she was employed by SNET and, after raising her family, she was employed by the Wire Association of Guilford. Extremely creative, she was a gifted and talented seamstress and avid knitter who, while a resident of Gardenside, fashioned handmade blankets and garments for newborns suffering from AIDS. We will miss her gentle spirit and giving nature and her loving presence will remain with us always.

Mother of Sharon (Edmund) Anelundi of East Providence, RI, Kathleen Ahern, Suzanne (Michael) Klarman, and Branford Fire Chief Jack (Lisa) Ahern, all of Branford. Grandmother of John, Stephen, and James Lamberti, Sharon, Kevin, Steve, and Kelly Klarman, and Leah, Caitlin, John, Michele, and Charlie Ahern. Also survived by 2 sisters-in-law, Elizabeth and Joan Ahern of Branford. Pre-deceased by a granddaughter Emily Ahern and a sister Catherine Shadwell.
She was born in New Haven October 7, 1025, daughter of the late Raymond and Catherine Cody Spillane. She was a communicant of St. Mary Church in Branford, a member of American Legion Unit 83 Women's Auxiliary and a past member of the St. Mary Ladies Guild.
Her family would like to thank her doctor, Ronald Salem and her nurse, Donna Danbury, and all of the Dr's and nurses and staff at 6 & 7 at YNHH, and the staff at CT Hospice, for all of the care and compassion shown to Marie during her illness.

She was born February 28, 1913 in Fair Haven. Prior to her retirement she worked as a secretary for the Richard Squeri Insurance Agency in Branford for many years. She was a communicant of St. Mary Church and a member of the Canoe Brook Senior Center in Branford.

Great-uncle of Dena Imbergamo of Washington D.C. and Scott St. Clair of Raleigh, N.C. Predeceased by sisters Mary Swanson and Alice Conklin. Mr. Ahearn was born in Derby on May 6, 1920, a son of the late Thomas J. and Catherine Mullaney Ahearn. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II. He was a machinist for many years for various nautical machine companies. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth church and a long time resident of Short Beach.

Lindbergh "Lindy" Aceto

Lindbergh J. "Lindy" Aceto, of 24 Aceto St., Branford died Saturday November 10th at his home surrounded by his wife of 55 years, Betty Ferguson Aceto, and his children.
He was born in Branford May 26, 1927, son of the late Antonio and Marie Antonio D'Onofrio Aceto. He was a World War II veteran of the U. S. Navy and he retired from the Branford Post Office where he had worked for 26 years. He was a member of the New Haven County Chiefs, Branford Volunteer Fire Department Hook and Ladder Co. 1, the Italian-American Club of Branford, and American Legion Post 83 in Branford.
Besides his wife he leaves a son Nelson (Cindy) Aceto of South San Francisco, CA; a daughter Lynn Aceto of Northford; two grandsons, Joe Aceto of CA, and James Harrison of Northford; a sister, Flora Zampano of Branford, and a sister-in-law, Florence Aceto of Derby, and many nieces and nephews.. He was pre-deceased by brothers, Louis, Joseph, and Salvatore Aceto, and sisters, Marie Lucian, Nancy Jacaruso, Virginia Olson, Angelina Drobish and Esther DeLucia.
Lindy's family wishes to thank all the physicians and staff at the Father McGivney Cancer Center, Dr. Zaheer and his staff, and all the staff and health aides from CT Hospice, who were involved in his care.
He also enjoyed his Friday nights at the I-A Club playing cards with his buddies.
Friends are invited to a funeral service Thursday morning at 10:00 in St. Andrews Episcopal Church, Northford. Burial in Northford Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 4 - 8 pm at the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 504 Main St., Branford.
A reception following the funeral services will be held at the I-A Club, Hamre Lane, Branford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405, or to St. Andrews Church, P. O. Box 83 Northford, CT 06472.
