Adams, Jr. of Baltic, CT, Lynn Dumke of Fontana, CA, Nanci Errante of Branford, Philip Adams of Wolcott, and Thomas Adams of Upland, CA. Sister of Patricia Kelly, Betty Lumsden, Anita Harvey, Thelma McMahan and Malcolm Mescall. Also survived by 23 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, and a dear friend Shelly Bukari of Branford. Pre-deceased by a brother Philip Mescall, Jr. and a sister Donna Johnston.
She was born July 25, 1930, daughter of the late Philip and Bessie Nickerson Mescall. She was a retired store manager for the Homemakers Thrift Shop in Branford. She belonged to Trinity Episcopal Church in Branford and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Friends are invited to a funeral service Thursday morning at 10:00 in Trinity Episcopal Church, Branford. Burial in Beaverdale Memorial Park, Hamden. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5 - 8 PM at the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 504 Main St., Branford.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Homemakers Thrift Shop, 76 Maple St., Branford, or CT Hospice Home Care, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, 06405.

Vincent J. Ahern

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Vincent J. 'Duke' Ahern of 173 Alps Rd., Branford. He died peacefully on Friday May 13, 2005 at CT Hospice in Branford.
He will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Theresa Murphy Ahern, his son, Vincent J. (Judith) Ahern, JR of Richmond, VA, his daughters, Mary Patricia (Charles) Hildebrandt of Upland, CA, Judith (Peter) Wall of Milford, Terry Ahern and Joanne (David) Marquis, both of Branford, his grandchildren, Matthew Hildebrandt of Long Beach, CA, Bonnie Gravely and Morgan Wharff of Richmond, Joseph Ahern of New York City, Caitlin Ahern of Leavenworth, WA, and James and John Marquis of Branford, and his great-grandson Jack Ahern Wharff of Richmond. Pre-deceased by brothers, James, William, Daniel, Timothy Ahern, and sisters, Mary Keegan, Catherine Reed, Rita Ahern, Anne Koloski.
He was born in New Haven Feb. 6, 1918, son of the late John Patrick and Catherine O'Connell Ahern. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. After a twenty five year career at Brock-Hall Dairy in Hamden, he worked as an investigator for the Connecticut State Welfare Department. Upon his retirement, he established Ahern Realty in Branford.
We will miss the joy and laughter that he brought into our lives and he will remain in our hearts forever.
Funeral from the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 504 Main St., Branford, Monday morning at 9:30 with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary Church at 10:00. Burial in St. Agnes Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 4 - 7 PM.

John G. Altermatt

In Branford July 16, 2004, John G. Altermatt husband of Lorraine Karmazyn Altermatt of 24 Howd Ave., Stony Creek.
He was born Novemeber 20, 1930 in Branford son of the late John M. and Irma Howd Altermatt. He was a retired Maintenance supervisor for pratt & Whitney for 35 years, and was a USMC veteran of the Korean War.
Besides his wife he leaves three sons, John G. Altermatt of Sharpersburg, GA, Alexander Altermatt of Guilford, and Robert Altermatt of Northford; a daughter Linda Beard of Milford; a sister Jean Mann of Branford; brothers Arthur Allen of Tustin, CA and Charles A. Allen of Marietta, GA. he was pre-deceased by two sisters, Erma (Charlotte) Allen and Harriet Riddle, and his step-father Herbert Allen. Also survived by 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Therese Church Monday at 10:00 AM. Burial will be private.

In New Haven November 11, 2007, Gabriel Altrui, husband of the late Helen Slivinski Altrui of 26 Short Rocks Rd., Branford.
He was born in Italy October 30, 1909, son of the late Salvatore and Josephine Santone Altrui. He had worked at the former MIF Co. as a molder for many years until his retirement.
He is survived by nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Therese Sicignano and Millie Ciaglia, and brothers Nicholas, Salvatore and Ralph Altrui.
Funeral from the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 504 Main St., Branford, Thursday morning at 10:30 with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary Church at 11:00. Burial in St., Agnes Cemetery.

In New Haven January 31, 2007, Manuel G. Alvarez of 118 Clinton Ave., New Haven, formerly of Branford. He was the husband of Maria Perez Alvarez of Branford.
Mr. Alvarez was born December 6, 1920 in Monforte De Lemos, Lugo, Spain, son of the late Luis and Carmen Caraduje Alvarez. He served in the U. S. Army in World War II. He was a retired salesman, and he was a communicant of St. Mary Church in Branford.
Besides his wife he leaves two daughters, Carmen (Gary) Gunneson and Alexandra (Michael) Buckanavage, both of Branford; four grandchildren, Christian and Stephen Gunneson and Christina and Gabriela Buckanavage; a brother George Alvarez of Dumont, NJ. He was predeceased by a sister Juanita Thompson and a brother Frank Alvarez.
His family would like to thank all of the staff at the Mary Wade Home for the loving care and compassion shown to Mr. Alvarez these past five years

Robert M. "Bobby Banks" Dagle, 49, formerly of 29 Church St., Branford, died Wednesday February 14, 2001 at the Hospital of St. Raphael, after a brief illness.
He was born November 15, 1951 in New Haven, son of the late William and Margaret Raab Dagle. He was a lifelong resident of Branford and attended Northwestern Connecticut Community College in Winsted. He was a member of the Branford Elks Club BPOE 1939.
He is survived by a son Jeffrey Flynn Dagle of Branford, a sister, Susan Higgins of Niskayuna, NY and a brother William R. Dagle of New York City.
His funeral procession will leave the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 504 Main St., Branford Monday morning at 8:30 for a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary Church at 9:00. Beloved mother of Pat (Judy) Amarante of Branford. Sister of George Baccalis of Branford and Irene Aleo of West Haven. Also survived by four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter Rose Vince.
Mrs. Amarante was born September 22, 1916 in New Haven, a daughter of the late John and Mabel Baccalis.

She is great-grandmother of Carol Ann Dorne of Branford. Also survived by her sister, Mary Helen Preg of Shelton. She waspPre-deceased by a daughter Linda Brooks Pruitt and a brother A. C. Young.
Mrs. Brooks was born November 1, 1921 in Pennington Gap, VA, daughter of the late William J. B. and Ervie Mae Allen Young. She was a retired bookkeeper/auditor for Sears Roebuck & Co in Bridgeport, for many years.
A funeral service will be held Thursday morning at 10:00 in the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 504 Main St., Branford. Burial will be private. Friends may call Wednesday from 5 - 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the American Lung Association, 45 Ash St., East Hartford, 06108-3272.
