Ambrose P. Coleman, 95, formerly of 104 Stony Creek Rd., Branford died Thursday May 17, 2001 in West Hempstead, NY. He was the widower of Rose Agnelli Coleman.
He was born in Brooklyn, NY, September 4, 1905 son of the late James H. and Bridget Daly Coleman. He retired in 1968 as a detective in the New York Police Department, where he had worked for 30 years.
He was pre-deceased by two sisters, Molly Collins and Katherine Coleman and a brother James Coleman.
His funeral will leave the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 504 Main St., Branford Monday morning at 9:30 with a Mass of Christian burial in St. Therese Church, Branford at 10:00. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Branford. Friends may call Sunday from 5 - 7 PM. Memorial donations may be sent to St. Therese Church, 105 Leetes Island Rd., Branford, 06405.

Father of Maureen Whitcomb of Northford, William T. Conroy JR of Granby and Roger Conroy of Guilford. Brother of Robert Conroy of Stonington. Cousin of Pat McGrath of East Hartford. Also survived by 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.
Pre-deceased by a brother John Conroy.
Mr. Conroy was born in Newport on August 13, 1920, a son of the late John and Ane Lawton Conroy. He was a U. S. Army Veteran of World War II. He was an estimater for the Associated Construction Co. in Hartford and New London and the Kaptan Co. in Orange.
Funeral from the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 504 Main St. Branford Wednesday morning at 9:30 with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary Church at 10:00. Burial in St. Agnes Cemetery. In New Haven December 25, 2003, William Charles Butcher Sr. of Meadow Circle Rd. Branford. Husband of Dorothy Butcher of Branford. Father of William Butcher Jr. of Suffield. Brother of Frank Butcher of Hamden and Jean Ifkovic of Stony Creek. Also survived by three grandchildren. Mr. Butcher was born in New Haven on June 30, 1920, a son of the late William Henry and Martha Bruening Butcher. He was a graduate of the New Haven College and was an Architectural Engineer for the Sargent Co. in New Haven for more than 40 years. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

Dea R. Lombardi Pisani, 88, of Hamden, passed away March 5, 2009 at her home. She was the beloved wife of Joseph Pisani. Mrs. Pisani was born in New Haven Aug. 18, 1920 and was a graduate of Hillhouse High School . She worked as a clerk for the former Adley Express Co., and later, worked as an accounts payable clerk for the City of New Haven. She was a long time member of the Italian American Historical Society of Connecticut. Besides her husband, she is survived by her niece, Doretta Sweeney of North Haven and her brother-in-law, Dr. Lawrence Pisani of Hamden.
Friends may call at The Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm St. (cor. Dwight) New Haven Sunday from 5 to 7 pm and are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael’s Church, Wooster Square, Monday, March 9th at 10:00. SCANDONE, PETER A.

Peter A. Scandone Sr, 79, of 49 Fallon Drive, Hamden, passed away Feb. 25, 2009 in Holy Cross Hosp., Ft. Lauderdale, FL. after a brief illness. Born in New Haven Feb. 16, 1930, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Mary Carafano Scandone. Peter was the founder and president of PASCOM Sound, Inc. for 25 years. He was formerly vice president of the M & S Sound Co., founded by his father in 1922. Peter was a First Sergeant in both the U.S. Army and the CT. Army National Guard. He was a member of Headquarters and Headquarters Company, First Battalion, 102nd Infantry. He was also a member of the New Haven Grays and John Barry Assembly, Fourth Degree, Knights of Columbus. Peter was a true gentleman and patriot who loved and lived for his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Mary Grace Bonito Scandone; a son, Peter A. (Anne) Scandone of Guilford; a daughter, Marianne E. Scandone of East Haven; two grandchildren, Ava Grace & Robert; two sisters, Josephine Bango and Lillian Atnes, both of Hamden; and his sister in law, Trofimena “Taffy” Bonito of Hamden. He was predeceased by a brother, Salvatore A. Scandone Jr. and a sister, Julia Schaeffer.

Ronota “Ronnie” Cozzi Puglisi, 97, of 124 Brushy Plain Rd., Branford, died Feb. 23, 2009 in St. Raphael’s Hospital. She was the widow of Joseph Puglisi Sr. and was a former resident of 55 Anthony St., New Haven. Born in Ossining, N.Y. Dec. 17, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Benedetto & Maria Paradise Cozzi. She is survived by a son and daughter in law, Joseph and Lori Puglisi of Clinton; a daughter and son in law, Gayle and Gereon Bodner of Branford; a sister, Flora “Flo” Consiglio of New Haven; 7 grandchildren, Mark (Jill) Bodner of Tallahassee, FL., Brian (Joanna) Bodner of Durham, David Bodner of Southington, Jessica & Andrea Puglisi, both of New York, Lisa & Stephanie Puglisi, both of Clinton; 3 great grandchildren, Kendall & Jace Bodner of Tallahassee and Ella Bodner of Durham; 3 step grandchildren, Robert Hill, Melissa (John) Drzewi & Jennifer (Victor) Walters; and 2 step great grandchildren, Breanna Drzewi & Logan Walters. She was predeceased by 4 brothers, Edward, Alphonse, Albert & Anthony Cozzi; and 6 sisters, Mary Pavarotti, Faye D’Amato, Lucy Cozzi, Virginia Calling, Jennie Schultz & Rose Mongillo.

DONATO, JOSEPH

Joseph Donato, 89, of 19 Sturbridge Lane, Woodbridge, died Feb. 13, 2009 in Harborside Willows of Woodbridge. He was the husband of 64 years to Rose Potenziani Donato. Mr. Donato was born in New Haven Jan. 1, 1920, son of the late Simon & Mary Mattei Donato. He was a retired carpenter and building contractor. He served four terms on the Board of Selectmen in Woodbridge and also served on the Fire Commission. He was a charter member of the New Haven Philatelic Society and a member of Russell Council No.65, Knights of Columbus. During World War II, he served as a Technical Sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps, flying more than 50 missions over Italy and North Africa. A pillar of Assumption Church in Woodbridge, he served as an usher for 40 years and was the church carpenter, having built the altar in the Mother Church. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Simon J. Donato of Woodbridge and Joseph Donato of Woodbury; a daughter, Laurie Donato Cappello of Millersville, MD.; 5 grandchildren & 2 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by 3 sisters, Rita Barletta, Elizabeth & Rosalie Donato.

George Alfred Cook Jr., 62, of 120 Wooster St., New Haven passed away Feb. 12, 2009 in Yale New Haven Hospital. Born in New Haven Nov 21, 1946, he was the son of the late George and Jeanette Whalen Cook. He was a realtor in New Haven for almost 40 years and was associated with Coldwell Banker. He is survived by two daughters, Heather Cook (Richard) O’Mara of Colorado and Portia Jane (Robert) Dyrenforth of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two brothers, Robert W. Cook of Missoula, Montana and David M. (Cheri) Cook of Oklahoma; a sister, Lillian (Joseph) Cozza of Orange; 2 grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.

Katherine Elizabeth “Kitty” South, 84, of West Haven – the angels she so loved came to take her away from St. Raphael’s Hospital Feb. 8, 2009. Born in New Haven April 12, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Alfred & Mary Pesticci Montesanto. She served as Head Clerk for the Juvenile Court, State of CT. for more than 25 years prior to her retirement 20 years ago. She was always there with a kind heart and helping hand for everyone in need. She will be greatly missed by everyone whose life she touched with grace and kindness. Never there to judge, but always there to help, she was truly a kind and loving person to everyone who met her. She lived her life filled with dignity, grace and compassion. She was the beloved mother of Alfred J. “Skip” (Barbara Jean) South of Madison; also survived by two granddaughters, Karen M. (John) Gustafson and Jennifer L. (Donald) Luciani; a great grandson, Maxwell D. Gustafson; a sister, Florence (Frank) Johnson of West Haven, and their daughters, Cheryl (George) Treat, Pam Nappi Johnson (Frank Criscuolo), Kim (Harold) Rubin, Penny (John) Carlson and many loving nieces & nephews including Christopher & Casey, Shannon, Sean & Taylor, Billy & Zack, Josh, Kevin and Cody and Robin Bell and Cathy Sintay. She was predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth Rictitelli. Kitty’s family would like to sincerely thank the entire 3rd floor staff at Harborview Manor for making her last year as comfortable as possible with their loving care for her.
