POEHLER
John J. Poehler, 64, of Monson Road, Stafford Springs, died Monday, May 29, 2000, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born in Springfield, son of the late Ralph and Ruth (Smith) Poehler. He was a U.S. Army veteran during the Korean conflict. He worked for Independent Window & House Cleaning Co., Inc., of West Hartford for 20 years and then retired from Window Wipers of Farmington after 10 years of service.
John is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy (Jacobsen) Poehler; two daughters and a son-in-law, Marlene P. and William D. Barnett, and Lori P. Dempsey, all of Stafford Springs; three grandchildren, William D. Jr. and Megan Barnett, and Ashley Marie Dempsey; four brothers, Albert Poehler of Springfield, James Poehler of Florida, Richard Poehler of Springfield, and Paul Poehler of Tennessee; two sisters, Etta Benedict of Virginia, and Dottie Golden of West Virginia; a special friend, Alan Panciera of Stafford Springs; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by a son-in-law, George M. Dempsey, on March 28, 2000; three brothers; and two sisters.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 1, at the Introvigne Funeral Home, 51 E. Main St., Stafford Springs, with burial in St. Edward Cemetery, Stafford Springs.
A calling hour will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, June 1, at the funeral home.

SHARP
Mildred (Stevenson) Sharp, 82, formerly of Deepwood Drive, Manchester, widow of Edwin Sharp, died Saturday, May 27, 2000, at an area convalescent home.
Born in Manchester, daughter of the late Joseph and Martha (Richardson) Stevenson, she was a lifelong Manchester resident.
Mildred is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Melvina and John Jones of South Windsor; a brother, Richardson Stevenson of Bolton; two grandchildren, Christopher Jones and his wife, Lorilynn, and Nicole Jones; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Stevenson.
The funeral will be held at noon Thursday, June 1, at the Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester. Burial will be in the East Cemetery, Manchester.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of service Thursday, June 1, at the funeral home.
SPELLMAN
Everett F. Spellman, 65, of Monson Road, Stafford Springs, died Sunday, May 28, 2000, at his home.
He was born in Palmer, Mass., son of Julia and the late Alonzo Spellman, and was a U.S. Army veteran. Everett worked at the former Stafford Printers where he was a master printer for 27 years. He then worked at Warren Woolen Co., where he was a third-generation worker. He retired from Bridge Manufacturing Co. of Enfield where he was a machine operator. He was a member of the Scantic Valley Engine Club and the Connecticut Genealogical Society. He liked trains, nature, gardening, local history, and genealogical studies.
Everett is survived by two sons, William E. Spellman and Stephen D. Spellman, both of Stafford Springs; two daughters and sons-in-law, Beth and Jeffrey Neurath of Woodstock, and Jane and David Baker of Stafford Springs; six grandchildren, Jeremy and Joshua Neurath, David and Austin Baker, and Maria and Ian Spellman; his mother, Julia (Rogers) Spellman of Stafford Springs; a sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Lee Wheaton of Patton, Maine; a loving friend, Nancy Phillips and her family of Stafford Springs; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 1, at the Introvigne Funeral Home, 51 E. Main St., Stafford Springs, with burial in West Stafford Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, at the funeral home.

DOUGHERTY
Carrie (Kirtland) Dougherty, 94, of Manchester, wife of the late Edward William Dougherty, died Friday, May 19, 2000, at a local convalescent home.
Born June 1, 1905, in Moodus, daughter of the late, Ernest V. and Carrie (Brooks) Kirtland, she had been a resident of Manchester since 1950. Mrs. Dougherty was a member of Second Congregational Church, Manchester.
She is survived by two daughters, Elinor D. Biardi of Fullerton, Calif., and Jean M. Dougherty of Manchester, with whom she made her home; a brother, A. Reginald Kirtland of Wallingford; a sister, Marion Vogt of North Truro, Mass.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Gladys Sheffield.
The funeral service and burial will be private.
There are no calling hours.

GOLDSMITH
Evelyn "Lyn" (Smith) Goldsmith, 78, wife of the late Morrill R. Goldsmith of Windsor, died Friday, May 19, 2000, at Hartford Hospital.
Born in West Haven, daughter of the late Converse and Elizabeth (Wellington) Smith, she lived in East Hartford before moving to Windsor more than 44 years ago. Prior to retiring in 1986, Evelyn was employed by the state of Connecticut, Department of Transportation, for many years. She earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Connecticut. Evelyn was a member of the Poquonock Community Church, Windsor.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan L. and David L. Farr of Windsor Locks, and Karen G. and James Pestana of Windsor; a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth J. and Caroline Goldsmith of Kittering, Ohio; six grandchildren, Patience, Michael, Anthony, Mark, Alexander, and Noah; two great-grandsons, Corey and Tyler; a sister, Carol Crooks of Greer, S.C.; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 23, at the Poquonock Community Church, Poquonock Avenue, Windsor. Burial will be in Windsor Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today, May 22, at the Carmon Poquonock Funeral Home, 1816 Poquonock Ave., Windsor.

MADORE
Joan C. (MacNeill) Madore, 60, of Andover, beloved wife of 42 years of P. Harold Madore Sr., died Saturday, May 20, 2000, at Hartford Hospital.
Mrs. Madore was born Oct. 22, 1939, in Hartford, daughter of the late Andrew L. and Hazel B. (Llewellyn) MacNeill, and had resided in Andover since 1959. She was active in many Andover civic organizations including the Zoning Board of Appeals, Democratic Town Committee, and the Historical Society. She was also a member of the Manchester VFW Post 2046 Ladies Auxiliary, and a parishioner of St. Columba Church, Columbia.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Madore is survived by a son, Patrick H. Madore Jr. and his wife, Karen; two daughters, Linda-Joan Martin and her husband, Gilman, Dawn Sutherland and her husband, William, all of Andover; seven grandchildren, Benjamin, Ethan, and Bailey Sutherland, Kaitlin and Selena Martin, Patrick Madore III, and Loree El Carpenter, all of Andover; a foster son, Gene Myers and his family of Amsterdam, N.Y.; a sister, Diane Thompson of Coventry; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 24, at St. Columba Church, corner of routes 66 and 87, Columbia. Burial will follow in Townsend Cemetery, Andover.
Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester.

McGEARY
Thomas S. McGeary, 46, of Windsor, died Saturday, May 20, 2000, at Hartford Hospital.
Born in Hartford, March 10, 1954, beloved son of Charles W. Sr., and Virginia (Nowell) McGeary, he was a lifelong resident of Windsor. He graduated from Windsor High School in 1972 and from the University of Hartford in 1978 with a bachelor's degree in business administration. He had been employed for the past 19 years as an accountant for Northeast Utilities. Tom was a member of the Bloomfield Fish and Game Club and a former member of the Windsor Commission on the Handicapped and Aging.
Besides his parents, he leaves his best friend and brother, John A. McGeary of Bolton; a brother, Robert and his wife, Joseline McGeary, of Windsor; two loving and caring sisters, Donna McGeary Wheaton and her husband, Robert, and Cheryl McGeary Bouchard and her husband, David, all of Windsor; loving nieces and nephews, Richard and Maureen Welch, Robert Welch, Melissa Kennedy, Brandon McGeary, David and Shelby Bouchard, and Robert McGeary Jr.; and several other grandnieces and nephews. He also leaves his best friends, Danny Curley, Dennis Smith, and Jeffrey Shoham. He was predeceased by two brothers, Charles W. McGeary Jr., and Frank McGeary.
The funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, May 23, from the Carmon-Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield, Ave., Windsor, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Gabriel Church, 379 Broad St., Windsor. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Poquonock.
His family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today, May 22, at the funeral home.

O'NEIL
Rose Marie (Bergstrom) O'Neil, 75, beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and sister of Manchester, died peacefully at home, Friday, May 19, 2000, after a long illness. She was the recent widow of John L O'Neil, who died on Nov. 8, 1999. Born the daughter of the late Edith (Beauregard) and Henry Bergstrom on Feb. 7, 1925, in Worcester, Mass., she moved to Hartford and graduated from Weaver High School, Class of 1943. Rose Marie worked for many years in the local banking industry, retiring in 1997.
She is survived by five children, Thomas O'Neil of Middleburg, Fla., Dennis M. O'Neil of Tolland, Sharon A. McConnell of Springfield, Kathleen Keeler of Manchester, and Maureen Huot of Manchester; 15 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; her sister, Dorothy Weigert of Rocky Hill; and nieces, Barbara Suarcz of Rocky Hill, and Mary Beth Biton of Carlsbad, Calif.
"Rosie" was dearly loved by family, friends and all who knew her. She was sweet in disposition, strong in determination, and courageous throughout the course of her illness.
The funeral service will be held at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, May 23, from the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 W. Center St., Manchester, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at St. Christopher Church, East Hartford. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Glastonbury.

OSWELL
Doris (Dailey) Oswell, 91, of Robert Street, Somers, widow of George L. Oswell, died Sunday, May 21, 2000, at Evergreen Health Care Center.
Born in Waterbury, Doris was a resident of Newington for 36 years, moving to Somers in 1978. She was employed by Travelers Insurance Co., Hartford, and later at Halla Khrom Screw, West Hartford, before retiring in 1973. Doris was a member of the Traveler's Club and the Gay Nineties in Windsor. She founded the PTA at the Oak Hill School for the Blind and was past president of the PTA at the Deerfield School, Windsor.
Doris is survived by a daughter, Susan G. Oswell, with whom she made her home; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sons, George L. Oswell Jr., who died in 1990, and Robert J. Oswell, who died in 1993.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, at the Evergreen Health Care Center Chapel, Chestnut Hill Road, Stafford. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford.
Doris' family will receive relatives and friends from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, at the Evergreen Health Care Center Chapel.
