KWEDER

Michael T. Kweder Sr., 56, formerly of Wethersfield, died Friday, May 5, 2000, at Brookview Health Care Facility in West Hartford.

He was born Oct. 24, 1943, in New York City, the son of the late Elsie and Michael Kweder. He worked in his early years for the Fowler and Hunting Produce Co., and was employed for the Hartford Courant prior to his illness. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, and a member of the American Legion in Rocky Hill.

He leaves his wife, Mary Ann Kweder; a son, Michael Kweder Jr., both of Wethersfield; and a daughter, Michelle of Boston.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 9, at Rose Hill Funeral Home, 580 Elm St., Rocky Hill.

Calling hours are from 7 to 9 p.m. today, May 8, at the funeral home.

LEMEK

Marion K. Lemek, 84, formerly of South Street, Rockville, died Friday, May 5, 2000, at a local nursing home. She was the wife of the late John Lemek.

Marion was born in Rockville on Dec. 19, 1915, daughter of the late John and Agnes (Labac) Kucz. She was a communicant of St. Joseph Church, Rockville.

She is survived by a son, Maximillian Lemek of Rockville; a daughter, Terry Burris of Milton, Fla.; a brother, John Kucz of Ukiah, Calif.; two sisters, Genevieve Leach of Del Ray Beach, Fla., and Pauline Boczar of Rockville; a granddaughter, Rebecca R. Burris of Milton; and a great-grandson.

The funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 9, at White-Gibson-Small Funeral Home, 65 Elm St., Rockville, with a procession to St. Joseph Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at noon. Interment will be in St. Bernard Cemetery, Rockville.

Visiting hours will be from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral procession Tuesday, May 9, at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Church, 33 West St., Rockville, CT 06066.

MORELLI

Florence J. (Keithley) Caron Morelli, 67, of Wynnfield Drive, Palm Coast, Fla., wife of Moe Morelli and the late Joseph Caron, died Friday, May 5, 2000, at the Halifax Hospital Medical Center, Daytona Beach, Fla.

She was born in Saco, Maine, and had lived in Windsor Locks for many years before retiring to Florida. Florence loved all her family and was an avid bingo player.

She is survived by her husband, Moe Morelli; two sons, Mark Caron of Somers, and Steven Caron of Windsor Locks; a daughter, Debbie Caron of Treasure Island, Fla.; two stepsons, Mark Morelli of Windsor Locks, and Craig Morelli of Enfield; a stepdaughter, Linda Keithley of Kennebunkport, Maine; three brothers, Donald Keithley of Wakefield, Mass., Robert Keithley of Saco, and James Keithley of Kennebunkport; two sisters, Patricia Caron of Lake Arrowhead, Maine, and Janice Nunan of Saco; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, May 10, at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks, for a procession to St. Robert Bellarmine Church, Windsor Locks, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Grove Cemetery, Windsor Locks.

Her family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Connecticut, 920 Farmington Ave., West Hartford, CT 06107.

CLOSE

Thomas James Close, 68, of South Windsor, husband of the late Elizabeth "Betty" J. Close, died Sunday, May 14, 2000.

He was born in Hartford, Oct. 26, 1931, to the late Thomas and Mary Margaret "May" (O'Sullivan) Close, and lived in the Hartford County area most of his life. Tom was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean conflict, commissioner of South Windsor's Pee Wee Baseball League, and a member of the South Windsor Volleyball League, and Sextet Bowling League. He was employed for many years at Carlson Trucking of Manchester and Travelers Insurance Co.

Tom is survived by his sister and her husband, Patricia and John Pisch; his children and their spouses, Ann and Stephen Lander of Newington, James T. and Vicki Close of Ellington, and Robin and John Lockwood of Vernon; four grandchildren, Gregory and Jeffrey Lockwood, and Shannon and Jocelyn Close; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Peter Close, and his sister, Mary Close.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 19, at the Ladd-Turkington Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road, Route 83, Vernon. Burial with full military honors will be in Wapping Cemetery, South Windsor.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 18, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the South Windsor Little League, c/o Al Maximino, 11 Saddle Back Drive, South Windsor, CT 06074; or to the Visiting Nurse & Health Care Services of Connecticut, Hospice, 8 Keynote Drive, Vernon, CT 06066.

HUTCHINS

Isabel A. Hutchins, 86, died very peacefully Monday, May 15, 2000, at a local convalescent home with her family by her side.

She was born in Little Deer Isle, Maine, on April 19, 1914, the daughter of Harry and Eliza (Shepard) Blastow, and was a Maine resident until moving with her daughter to Connecticut in 1997.

She leaves two sons and three daughters, John Small and his wife, Pat, of Warren, Maine, Eliza Spencer and her husband, Leslie, of Stonington, Maine, Elsie Conley and her husband, Richard, of St. Petersburg, Fla., Gloria Lassen and her husband, Rodney, of Manchester, and Clifford Terry and his wife, Linda, of Hilton Head, S.C.; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Hollis Blastow and his wife, Barbara, and Arnold Blastow, all of Rockland, Maine; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Isabel was predeceased by five brothers and two sisters.

The funeral will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday, May 18, at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 W. Center St., Manchester. Burial will be in Stonington.

A calling hour will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 18, at the funeral home.

A memorial service, to be held at a later time, will be at the Sunset Congregational Church, Sunset, Maine, where she was a member all of her life.

JONES

Robert J. Jones, 73, of Ocala, Fla., formerly of Manchester, died Friday, May 12, 2000, at the Ocala Nursing Home.

Mr. Jones was born March 19, 1927, in Manchester, the son of the late Hamilton Jones and Rachel (Metcalf) Jones. He was a U.S. Navy veteran for 22 years and had worked for the state of Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection. He belonged to the Disabled American Veterans of Manchester and also the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Florida.

Besides his wife, Barbara, he leaves his son, Robert J. Jones Jr. of California; his daughter, Laura Woodland of New Hampshire; and two stepsons, Gary Thompson and David Thompson and his wife, Georgette, all of Manchester; a stepdaughter, Donna and her husband, Peter Cram, of New Hampshire; six grandchildren, Thomas, Danielle, Aleah, Lauren, Bethany, and Joseph; his sister, Marian Burnett; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Hamilton Jones.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in East Cemetery, Manchester, with a graveside service.

WINOT

Grace M. (Johnson) Winot, 80, of Coventry and formerly of Manchester, died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at Rockville General Hospital.

She was born Feb. 21, 1920, in Gaysville, Vt., daughter of the late Glenn and Hazel E. (Farnsworth) Johnson. Mrs. Winot is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Bruce D. and Irene Winot of Manchester; two daughters and a son-in-law, Glenna J. Justice of Waterbury, and Mary and John Scoville of Coventry; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a nephew. She was predeceased by two sons, Dennis C. and Chris G. Winot; and two brothers, Paul W. and Guy C. Johnson.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 18, at the Watkins Funeral Home, 142 E. Center St., Manchester. Burial will be in East Cemetery, Manchester.

Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today, May 17, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hole-in-the-Wall-Gang Camp, Box 2602, Hartford, CT 06146-2602; or to the Visiting Nurse and Community Care, 8 Keynote Drive, Vernon, CT 06066.

CHAPPELL

Rose (Gauthier) Dubuc Chappell, 94, of the Suffield House, formerly of the Willimansett section of Chicopee, Mass., died Monday, May 15, 2000, at her home.

She was born in Holyoke, Mass., and had lived in Chicopee for many years before moving to Suffield in 1992. Before her retirement, she was employed for many years as a secretary at the Pratt and Whitney Co. in East Hartford. While living in Chicopee, she was a communicant of the Church of the Nativity.

She leaves a son, Richard Dubuc Jr.; three sisters, Annette Gagne and Dorilla "Dot" Pelland, both of Willimansett, and Yvette DeRoy of Tannawanna, N.Y.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her first husband, Richard Dubuc, and her second husband, Frank Chappell.

A memorial Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 20, at the Church of the Nativity, 780 Chicopee St., in the Willimansett section of Chicopee, followed by burial in Notre Dame Cemetery, South Hadley, Mass.

There are no visiting hours.

FARRELL

George E. Farrell III, 59, of 9 Lynn Lane, Rochester, N.H., formerly of Enfield, died Saturday, May 6, 2000.

He was a retired employee of the Hallmark Corporation in Enfield, as well as a self-employed tax preparer, and house painter. He was an avid sports fan and friend to all who knew him.

He is survived by his life partner, Randi Dugger of Rochester; her children, Carol Annach of Rochester, Matthew Dugger of Norfolk, Va., and Shanna Farrell of Dover, N.H.; his children, Beth Lemay of Enfield, Lisa Farrell Hayford of Winooski, Vt., George Farrell II of Dover, Keith Farrell of Cornwall, Vt., and Sean Farrell of Saxon River, Vt. Between them, they also had 13 grandchildren.

A private service was held Sunday, May 7, and burial took place May 11 in Rochester.

Arrangements were made by H.J. Grondin & Son, Rochester.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 300 Research Parkway, Meriden, CT 06450.

JOHNSON

Emily C. (Wilson) Johnson, 83, of Manchester, wife of the late John Paul Johnson, died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at Manchester Memorial Hospital.

She was born March 27, 1917, in Cheraw, S.C., daughter of the late Thomas and Bessie (Rolla) Wilson, and had lived most of her life in Virginia before moving to Manchester more than 10 years ago.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by four sons and five daughters, Jerry Timmons of McFarland, N.C., Don C. Carpenter of Manchester, Johnnie P. Johnson Jr. of Hampton, Va., James T. Johnson of Lynchburg, Va., Sandra Batten of Hampton, Va., Gwendolyn Thompson of Willoby Spit, Va., Diane Schultz of Jacksonville, Fla., Karla Yambrick of White Marsh, Va., and Marilyn Ottofaro of Glouster, Va.; two sisters, Doris Carragher of Silver Springs, Md., Mabel Kimry of Cheraw; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Johnson also had a special fondness for Franklin Trafton of Manchester. She was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Wilson; and a sister, Sarah Eby.

The funeral and burial will be held in Virginia.

The Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester, has care of arrangements.
