Lucille T. Buckley,

a resident of Norwalk, Ohio, died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2000 at her home. She was 92.

She died of cancer, according to her family.

Born Dec. 31, 1907, in Otway, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Edna Turner Hannes.

Mrs. Buckley was a 1925 graduate and valedictorian of Otway High School in Ohio. She attended Wilmington College and Miami University, and received a bachelor of arts degree from Bowling Green State University.

She taught fourth and fifth grade for the Townsend-Wakeman school district (now Western Reserve School System) in Ohio for 28 years, retiring in 1973.

Mrs. Buckley was a member of the Wakeman Congregational United Church of Christ and the Talent Guild, Riverside Reading Circle in Wakeman, and Friends of the Wakeman Library, all in Ohio.

She was elected to Delta Kappa Gamma, an honorary teachers association; was a volunteer for many years at Fisher-Titus Medical Center; and was president of the Residents Association at the Carriage House in Norwalk, Ohio.

Mrs. Buckley is survived by a daughter, Dr. Marcia Bull of New Canaan; a son, Mark Buckley of Cincinnati; six grandchildren; and four great- grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Buckley; and a daughter, Mary Kathryn Buckley.

Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, Oct. 13, 2000 at Gerber-Smith Funeral Home, 16 Cooper St., Wakeman, Ohio.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, 2000 at the Wakeman Congregational United Church of Christ, 14 E. Abbott St., Wakeman, Ohio.

Burial will follow at Wakeman Cemetery in Wakeman.

Memorial contributions may be made to the memorial fund of Wakeman Congregational United Church of Christ, 14 E. Abbott St., Wakeman, OH 44889; Wakeman Community Library, 33 S. Pleasant St., Wakeman, OH 44889; or Fisher-Titus Health Foundation, 272 Benedict Ave., Norwalk, OH 44857.

Arthur T. Hill,

a resident of Rye Brook, N.Y., died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000 at Greenwich Hospital. He was 81.

He died of cancer, according to his family.

Born Oct. 2, 1919, in Port Chester, N.Y., he was a son of the late George and Henrietta Evans Hill.

He was raised and educated in Dover Plains, N.Y.

During World War II, he served as a corporal in the U.S. Army in the European Theater. He received several medals, including three battle stars.

He worked at Conde Nast before his retirement.

He is survived by a niece, Elizabeth Lotz of Stamford; two nephews, James Hill of Florida and Lloydd Alviset of Delaware; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Violet Rockwell Hill; and a brother, James Hill.

Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, 2000 at Craft Memorial Home, 40 Leicester St., Port Chester.

A funeral service will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, 2000 at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Greenwood Union Cemetery, Rye, N.Y.

Dorathea "Dottie" Studwell Johnson,

a longtime Greenwich resident, died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000 at Greenwich Hospital. She was 77.

She died of pneumonia, according to her family.

Born July 14, 1923, in Port Chester, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Howard E. and Mary Ramsey Studwell.

Mrs. Johnson participated in the Girl Scouts and Greenwich public school system. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Greenwich.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband, Charles "Bill" W. Johnson of Greenwich; four daughters, Janice Caviola and Cindy Bailey, both of Greenwich, Candy Casey of Erwin, Tenn., and Pamela Johnson of Venice, Calif.; two sons, Charles Johnson Jr. of Westlake Village, Calif., and Bob Johnson of Moorpark, Calif.; 17 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, 2000 at First Congregational Church, 108 Sound Beach Ave., Greenwich.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Kids in Crisis, 521 Post Road, Greenwich, CT 06807; or The Nathaniel Witherell nursing home, 70 Parsonage Road, Greenwich, CT 06830.

Elizabeth F. Campbell,

a lifelong Stamford resident, died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000 at home. She was 77.

She died of cardiac arrest, according to her family.

Born May 21, 1923, in Stamford, she was the daughter of the late John C. and Ellen Kelley Campbell.

Ms. Campbell was a retired art teacher who worked at various Stamford public schools. She was a member of St. Maurice Church. Ms. Campbell was a member of Sterling Farms and Hubbard Heights golf clubs.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Jane S. Campbell of Quogue, N.Y.; a niece and two nephews.

She was predeceased by a brother, Brig. Gen. John C. Campbell Jr.

Calling hours will be 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 3, 2000 at Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford.

A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 3, for St. Maurice Church, 358 Glenbrook Road, Stamford, for a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m.

Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery in Darien.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Maurice Church, 358 Glenbrook Road, Stamford, CT 06902.

Frieda Peters Gertz,

a former longtime Greenwich resident, died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000 at East Hill Woods Health Care Center in Southbury. She was 93.

She died of natural causes, according to her family.

Born Jan. 7, 1907, in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Frieda Lentz Kiesel.

Mrs. Gertz was employed in the business office of Stamford Hospital for 35 years before retiring in 1969.

She lived in Florida for 20 years before moving to Southbury in 1994.

She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Erbe of Greenwich; a son, Donald Peters of Brooklyn, Conn. ; a niece; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Walter Peters; her second husband, Edward Gertz; a son, Walter Stewart Peters; and a sister, Elsa Pawlitz.

Calling hours will be 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 3, 2000 at First Congregational Church in Greenwich.

A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church.

Burial will be in the church Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made it a charity of one's choice.

Castiglione Funeral Home, 134 Hamilton Ave., Greenwich, is handling arrangements.

John D. Zecca,

a Stamford resident, died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000 at home. He was 66.

He died of cancer, according to his family.

Born March 1, 1934, in New York City, he was a son of Elizabeth Casey Zecca of Middletown and the late Angelo Zecca.

Mr. Zecca was a retired special education teacher at Stamford High School, where he also served as director of the Stamford Color Guard. He was a member of the Connecticut Education Association and the board of directors of the Stamford Teachers Federal Credit Union.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Carol Zecca of Stamford; five daughters, Elaine Forsyth of Milford, Jane Locke of Evergreen, Colo., Charlene Cass of Wilton, Lynn Schriber of New Canaan and Susan Holland of Trumbull; a sister, Mary Gingrass of Middletown; a brother, Edward Zecca of Meriden; and 11 grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Gail Zecca.

Calling hours will be 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, 2000 at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer St. Stamford.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, 2000 at The Church of the Holy Spirit, 403 Scoffield Town Road, Stamford.

Burial will follow in Queen of Peace Cemetery, Rockrimmon Road, Stamford.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Bennett Cancer Center, Shelborune Road, Stamford, CT 06902; or to P.A.W.S., P.O. Box 7428, Wilton, CT 06897-7428.
