Richard Weeghman, 75;

December 3, 2003

was aviation journalist

Richard B. Weeghman, 75, of Sarasota, Fla., a former Stamford resident, died Monday, Oct. 13, at Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg, Fla.

He died of a cerebral hemorrhage, according to his family.

Mr. Weeghman was an aviation journalist.

Born June 27, 1928, in San Francisco, he was the son of the late Harold A. and Anna Helen Baehler Weeghman.

Mr. Weeghman attended Phillips Academy in Andover, Mass., and Yale University. He was a fighter pilot in the U.S. Air Force.

He began his journalism career as a reporter at The Advocate in Stamford. He then worked for "Flying Magazine," "Air Progress" and "The Aviation Consumer."

He was a member of the Yale Club of the Suncoast and the Serendipity Racquet Club, both in Sarasota, Fla., and Angel Flight Southeast in Leesburg, Fla.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Diane H. Weeghman of Sarasota, Fla.; two daughters, Ann W. Harrell of Savannah, Ga., and Katherine W. King of Greenwich; and three grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 6, at North Stamford Congregational Church, 31 Cascade Road.

Memorial donations may be sent to Angel Flight Southeast, 8742 Airport Blvd., Leesburg, Fla., 34788; or to the American Heart/Stroke Association, P.O. Box 21475, St. Petersburg, Fla. 33742.

Arrangements were handled by Toale Brothers Funeral Home, 3731 Tuttle Ave., Sarasota, Fla.

John P. Lizza, 80,

December 3, 2003

retired truck driver

John P. Lizza, 80, of Greenwich, died Monday, Dec. 1, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, N.Y.

He died of a heart attack, according to his family.

Mr. Lizza was a retired truck driver.

Born Jan. 2, 1923, in Valley Stream, N.Y., he was a son of the late Pietro and Maryann Lizza.

Mr. Lizza lived in Greenwich for 29 years. He worked as a truck driver for Super Mill Works in Mineola, N.Y., for many years.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Mr. Lizza was a member of the American Legion Post No. 0004 in Oyster Bay, N.Y., the St. Roch Seniors in Greenwich, the Glenville Seniors in Greenwich and AARP Chapter No. 3020 in Greenwich.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Eleanor Massaro Lizza of Greenwich; a son, John Lizza of Long Island, N.Y.; a daughter, Nancy Vogel of Boynton Beach, Fla.; a brother, Americo "Bill" Lizza of Hicksville, N.Y.; three stepsons, Michael Angelastro of Nantucket, Mass., Frank Angelastro of Randolph, N.J., and Peter Angelastro of Fairfield; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Castiglione Funeral Home, 134 Hamilton Ave., Greenwich.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Church, 95 Henry St., Greenwich.

Burial will follow in Long Island National Cemetery in Farmingdale, N.Y.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to St. Jude's Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Joan Sudell

November 14, 2003

Joan M. Sudell, 90, of Greenwich, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, at the Courtland Gardens Health Center in Stamford.

She died of natural causes, according to her family.

Mrs. Sudell was employed at St. Mary School in Greenwich for many years.

Born Aug. 8, 1913, in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Julius and Bertha Bairet Faur.

Mrs. Sudell was a longtime parishioner of St. Mary Church.

She is survived by a son, Frank Sudell Jr. of Darien; a daughter, Ann Turner of Stratford; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Frank Sudell Sr., in 1980.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, at the Castiglione Funeral Home, 134 Hamilton Ave., Greenwich.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, at St. Mary Church, 178 Greenwich Ave., Greenwich.

Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, 35 Parsonage Road, Greenwich.

Felicia Summa

November 14, 2003

Felicia Summa, 98, a lifelong Stamford resident, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, at St. Camillus Health Care Center in Stamford.

She died of natural causes, according to her family.

Mrs. Summa was a homemaker.

Born Sept. 24, 1905, in Stamford, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Antoinette Marciano.

She is survived by two sons, William Summa of Hollywood, Fla., and Andrew Summa Jr. of Greenwich; four daughters, Jeanne Avery and Pauline Silvester, both of Norwalk, Gloria Reed of Ridgefield and Phyllis Summa of Stamford; a brother, John Marciano of Richmond, Va.; a sister, Angela Marciano of Hollywood; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Andrew Summa Sr.; and by a daughter, Antoinette Wildey.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, at Lacerenza Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Ave., Stamford.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Ave., Stamford.

Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, 25 Camp Ave., Darien.

Brendan O'Sullivan

November 14, 2003

Brendan J. O'Sullivan, 81, of New Canaan, died Sunday, Nov. 9, at Norwalk Hospital.

He died of natural causes, according to his family.

Mr. O'Sullivan was a retired New York City Police Department captain.

Born Aug. 29, 1922, in New York City, he was the son of the late Denis and Elizabeth Holden O'Sullivan.

Mr. O'Sullivan was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy, aviation division.

He was a member of the Kiwanis Club in LaJolla, Calif., the New York City Emerald Society, the Ancient Order of the Hibernians, the Captains Endowment Association of the New York Police Department and the Superior Officers Association of New York City.

He is survived by his wife, Mary O'Sullivan of New Canaan; four sons, Brendan O'Sullivan of Glendale, Ariz., Jeremiah O'Sullivan of Lewisburg, W. Va., Terence O'Sullivan of Bakersfield, Calif., and Denis O'Sullivan of Old Greenwich; three daughters, Maureen Heasley of Wayzata, Minn., Patricia O'Connor of Old Greenwich and Anne Townshend of New Canaan; and 18 grandchildren.

Friends may call from 9 to 10:30 a.m. tomorrow, at the Hoyt Funeral Home, 199 Main St., New Canaan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. tomorrow, at St. Aloysius Church, 40 Maple St., New Canaan.

Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
