Robin Prince

September 15, 2004

Robin Herndon Prince, 67, of Greenwich and Gulfstream, Fla., died Tuesday, Sept. 14, at his home in Greenwich.

He died of complications from cancer, according to his family.

Mr. Prince was chairman of Jamison Prince Asset Management.

Born Feb. 15, 1937, in Washington, D.C., he was a son of Sydney Rhodes Prince, Jr. of Point Clear, Ala., and the late Elizabeth Herndon Prince.

Mr. Prince graduated from the Landon School in Chevy Chase, Md., Princeton University in 1960 and the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia in 1962.

Mr. Prince joined Jamison Prince Asset Management in 1993, after serving 10 years as a principal at Morgan Stanley Asset Management. Prior to that he was a general partner of Royal Partners and a senior vice president and equity owner of Bessemer Trust Company, N.A.

He enjoyed tennis, skiing, boating and golfing. He was a member of the Pine Valley Golf Club, Round Hill Club, Chevy Chase Club and the Gulfstream Club.

In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, former first selectman Lolly Howell Prince of Greenwich; a brother, Sydney R. Prince, III of Point Clear, Ala.; two daughters, Elizabeth Prince Pollack of Rye, N.Y., and Kathryn Prince of New York City; a son, Robin Prince Jr. of New York City; and three grandchildren.

Calling hours are from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 16, at the Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 31 Arch Street, Greenwich.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 17 at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 469 North St., Greenwich.

Burial will private.

William Robustelli Sr.

August 12, 2004

Throughout his tenure, Mr. Robustelli -- William F. Robustelli Sr., 83, of Greenwich, retired superintendent of buildings and grounds for the former St. Mary High School, died Tuesday, Aug. 10, at The Nathaniel Witherell nursing home.

He died of natural causes, according to his family.

More than 100 St. Mary High School graduates returned to their alma mater in February 1986 to honor Mr. Robustelli after he retired following 32 years as superintendent of buildings and grounds.

known as "Robe" -- cared for students like no other, a member of the class of 1979 remembered that day.

"He was always involved in everything," said Kathy Mottolese. "He was our father, our principal. And he always used to tell us, 'You never want to disappoint your family.' He had a lot of respect."

Born Feb. 28, 1921, in Greenwich, Mr. Robustelli was the son of the late Albert and Jennie McCann Robustelli. He grew up in Greenwich and graduated from Greenwich High School.

Mr. Robustelli served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Orinoco Council No. 39 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. In addition to his work as superintendent, he also coached several teams at St. Mary High School.

Mr. Robustelli is survived by his wife, Lillian Mattison Robustelli of Greenwich; a son, William F. Robustelli Jr. of Downingtown, Pa.; a daughter, Patricia Robustelli Weber of Houston; and five grandchildren.

Calling hours will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. tomorrow at the Fred D. Knapp & Son funeral home, 267 Greenwich Ave., Greenwich.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Church, 178 Greenwich Ave., Greenwich.

Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, 399 North St., Greenwich.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Nathaniel Witherell, 70 Parsonage Road, Greenwich CT 06830.

Stanley Krupnik

August 12, 2004

Stanley Krupnik, 86, of Spring Hill, Fla., died Monday, Aug. 9, at home.

He died of congestive heart failure, according to his family.

Born Jan. 27, 1918, in Greenwich, he was a son of the late Michael and Anna Kotula Krupnik.

Mr. Krupnik owned and operated Riverside Seat Cover in Greenwich for 30 years before his retirement.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He lived in Stamford for about 55 years before moving to Florida in 1973.

Mr. Krupnik was a former member of the Stamford Zoning Board of Appeals and a former officer in the Pulaski Democratic Club in Stamford.

Mr. Krupnik is survived by his wife, Maria Krupnik of Spring Hill; a son, Stanley M. Krupnik of Stamford; three daughters, Ann Marie Orlando of Hudson, Fla., Arleen Bankuty of Greenwich and Gail Gagliardi of Spring Hill; a brother, Bernard Krupnik of Greenwich; three sisters, Kathryn Riska of Lancaster, Pa., Bertha Thompson of Bethel and Joan Sienkiewicz of Stamford; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Alex Krupnik and John Krupnik; and a sister, Julia Koules.

Calling hours will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Wellwood Grace Funeral Home, 16931 U.S. Highway 19, Hudson.

A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 13, at the funeral home.

Burial will follow in Wellwood Grace Cemetery in Hudson.

Memorial donations may be made to the Residence at Timber Pines, Memory Care Unit, third floor, 3140 Forest Road, Spring Hill, FL 34606.

Charles DiAngelo Jr.

August 12, 2004

Charles J. DiAngelo Jr., 56, a lifelong Greenwich resident and owner of Castiglione Funeral Home Inc., died Monday, Aug. 9, at Greenwich Hospital.

He died of cardiac arrest, according to his family.

Born June 23, 1948, in Greenwich, he was a son of Josephine "Tiny" Servidio DiAngelo DeAngelis of Stamford and the late Charles J. DiAngelo Sr.

He graduated from Greenwich High School and the American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service.

He was a licensed funeral director for 35 years and the owner of Castiglione Funeral Home Inc. in Greenwich since 1989.

Mr. DiAngelo was a member of the Saint Lawrence Club, a fourth-degree member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of the Milbrook Club, a past president of the Cos Cob Rotary Club and an active member of the parish council at St. Roch Church. He was an avid golfer.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Elaine DiAngelo of Greenwich; two daughters, Amy L. Herbster of Stamford and Alisa Merz of Greenwich; and a granddaughter.

Calling hours will be from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Castiglione Funeral Home Inc., 134 Hamilton Ave., Greenwich.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Roch Church, 10 St. Roch Ave., Greenwich.

Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, 399 North St., Greenwich.

Edward Bilek, Jr.

July 20, 2004

Edward Bilek Jr., 70, of Brewster, Mass., a retired Greenwich parks and recreation director, died Monday, July 19, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis, Mass.

He died of lung cancer, according to his wife, Barbara Ward, of Brewster.

Mr. Bilek worked for the town of Greenwich for 38 years, retiring in 1997 as director of the Department of Parks and Recreation.

Born Dec. 25, 1933, in Flushing, N.Y., he was the son of the late Edward Bilek Sr. and Eleanor Opfer.

Mr. Bilek's family moved to Darien in the mid-1940s, and he went on to graduate from Darien High School in 1952. He went to Springfield College in Massachusetts, where he majored in physical education.

In 1956, after graduation, Mr. Bilek worked for the YMCA of Westport for three years before becoming a physical education teacher at the Greenwich Public Schools. During the decade he taught in Greenwich, he was also a member of the Air Force Reserves.

In 1969, Mr. Bilek went to work for the parks and recreation department and was soon named recreation supervisor. In 1995, following the retirement of Frank Keegan, who was the parks and recreation director, Mr. Bilek was named interim director. He was permanently appointed in 1996 and served just over a year as director before retiring.

"The word that comes to my mind is affable," former First Selectman John Margenot said of Mr. Bilek. "He was very easy to work with. He loved recreation and working with the people."

In 1998, Mr. Bilek married Barbara Ward, who was the family health division director at the Greenwich Department of Health. The couple moved to Brewster in 2001.

In addition to belonging to various parks and recreation groups, Mr. Bilek taught at the Mariner Sailing Camp in Greenwich and coached gymnastics and girls softball. He was also a past member of the Greenwich Rotary Club and was co-chairman of the United Way of Greenwich's Septemberfest for 15 years. He enjoyed golfing, sailing, fishing, hiking and photography.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Bilek is survived by two sons, E. Christopher Bilek of Brewster, and Daniel E. Bilek of Greenwich; a daughter, Linda B. Simpson of Danbury; a brother, Robert Bilek of Fairfield; and three grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of the Cape Church, 468 Stony Brook Road, Brewster. Burial will be private.

A memorial service is being planned for Greenwich and will be announced later.
