Bridget Soboleski

MERIDEN -- Bridget Soboleski, 79, of 47 Elliot St., Meriden, formerly of Rocky Hill, beloved wife of Theodore T. Soboleski passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2001, at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford.

She was born June 16, 1921, in Rocky Hill, a daughter of the late Stanley and Pauline (Gonglewski) Zavaski. Bridget was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church and an active member of the Ladies Guild and the Sunshine Club.

Besides her loving husband, she is survived by two cherished children, a son, Thomas M. Soboleski of Middletown; a daughter, Patricia and her husband, Peter Ellis of Meriden; two sisters, Sophie Sliva of Newington and Genevieve Poltorak of Wethersfield; three grandchildren, Matthew Soboleski of Arlington, Texas, Philip Ellis and Corinne Soboleski, both of Meriden; as well as many nieces and nephews from the Soboleski and Zavaski families.

A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Friday, Feb 23, at 10 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church, Akron St., Meriden. Burial will follow at St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Szymaszek-Taylor Funeral Home, 189 E. Main St., Meriden, on Thursday, from 4 to 8 p.m. If one desires, donations may be made in Bridget's memory to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Drive, Wallingford, CT 06492.

Irving W. Wessman

WALLINGFORD -- Irving W. Wessman, 83, of Masonic Ave., Wallingford, died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001, in the Masonic Geriatric Healthcare Center. He was the husband of the late Charlotte Goff Wessman.

Born in Meriden, July 25, 1917, a son of the late William and Jennie Swanson Wessman. He had a Bristol resident for many years before moving to Wallingford two years ago. Mr. Wessman had been employed as the district manager for Connecticut Light and Power, Cheshire district, for 42 years until his retirement 21 years ago. He had been a member and past-president of the Kiwanis Club of Bristol and Winsted and was a member of the Meriden Kiwanis Club. He had been the past-president of the United Fund of Bristol and a director of the Meriden-Wallingford Manufacturers Association. He also had been a past director of the Meriden Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the St. Andrews Masonic Lodge No. 64 of Winsted and the Middletown Lodge of Elks. He was a member of the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.

Mr. Wessman is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Charleen and Edward Poglitsch of Wallingford; his two sons and daughters-in-law, William and Theresa Wessman of Meriden and Robert and Pamela Wessman of Bristol; and his six grandchildren, Amy Wessman-Pelletier of Portland, Carrie Wessman of Norwalk, James Wessman of Meriden, Laurie Poglitsch, Scott Poglitsch and Brian Poglitsch, all of Wallingford.

His family will receive relatives and friends in the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wallingford, Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Wallingford Funeral Home. The Rev. Eric Fjeldel, pastor of the Yalesville United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be sent to the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 355 Camp St., Bristol, CT 06010, or to the Yalesville United Methodist Church, 8 New Place St., Yalesville, CT 06492 or to the Masonic Charity Foundation, P.O. Box 70, Wallingford, CT 06492.

Alice B. Wetmore

WALLINGFORD -- Alice B. Wetmore, 91, of 18 McGuire Court, died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001, at her home. She was the wife of the late Leroy Wetmore.

She was born in New Haven, Jan. 27, 1910, a daughter of the late Wesley and Jerretta Barnes Bamford. Until her retirement, she had been employed as an inspector at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft of 25 years. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Wallingford and had been a former president of the Ladies Guild of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and also St. John's Episcopal Church in North Haven. She was a former president of the Wallingford Senior Citizens Center.

She is survived by four daughters, Lauretta Sawallich, Lenora Amero and Leona Gordon, all of Wallingford and Laura Moran of Meriden; two brothers, Oscar R. Bamford of New Haven and Wesley Bamford of Florida; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Laraine O. Cuomo; two brothers, George Bamford and William Bamford; and two sisters, Laura Riggs and Jerretta Mulvey.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 24, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 65 N. Main St., Wallingford. Burial will be at Hamden Plains Cemetery, Hamden. Friends may call at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm St., Wallingford, on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. If friends so desire, gifts in her memory may be made to the All Saints Memorial Fund, c/o St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 65 North Main St., Wallingford 06492, or the Wallingford Senior Center, 284 Washington St., Wallingford, CT 06492.

Anna Biernacki

MERIDEN -- Anna Biernacki, 84, died on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001, peacefully surrounded by family at the home of her niece and nephew, Donald and Francine Fantozzi.

Born in Cleveland on July 21, 1916, she was a daughter of the late Ignacy and Mary (Gajda) Biernacki Stanoz. She was the stepdaughter of the late Frank Stanoz. She had attended Meriden schools, was employed by International Silver Co. for 47 years and eight months, and was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church, and a member of the Ladies Guild, Sunshine Club and Steelworkers Retirees Club.

She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Daniel and Lorraine Biernacki of Meriden; 16 nieces and nephews; and cousins in Chicago, Ohio and Massachusetts. She was predeceased by three sisters and a brother, Leocadia Blair, Henrietta Fields, Valentina Mesite and Roman F. Biernacki.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, Feb. 24, at 10:45 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, and at 11:30 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Franciscan Hospice Care, 267 Finch Ave., Meriden CT 06451.

Rocco J. Goduti

NORTH HAVEN -- Rocco J. Goduti, 75, of 7 Cannonball Road, North Haven, died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2001, at his home. He was the husband of Lydia Noto Goduti.

Born in New Haven on Oct. 13, 1925, he was the son of the late Renato and Anna Ursini Goduti. Active in the automobile industry, he was a stockcar racer in the 1950's and 1960's. In 1965, he started with the former Cooley's Chevrolet of New Haven and had worked for numerous car dealers afterwards. At the time of his death he was a sales manager for the Maritime Motors Chevrolet and Oldsmobile of Norwalk. He was a former member of the Pine Grove Men's Club Association, and had served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was the father of Ronald J. Goduti, David P. Goduti and his wife, Maria (Chickie); grandfather of Melissa and David P. Goduti Jr.; brother of Philip Goduti; and his future daughter-in-law, Kathleen Sullivan. He was predeceased by his sisters, Irma Maturo and Rita Goduti.

His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., North Haven, Friday at 11:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Therese's Church, North Haven at Noon. Interment with full military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery, North Haven. The visiting hours will be Friday at 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the CT Hospice Homecare, 61 Burban Drive, Branford, CT 06405.

Stanley E. Kesilewski Sr.

COLCHESTER -- Stanley E. Kesilewski Sr., 75, of 2 Meadow Drive, No. 3, Colchester, died on Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001.

He was born on March 1, 1925, in Durham, a son of the late Michael and Caroline Cichocki Kesilewski. Mr. Kesilewski was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Medical Corps with the 20th Field Hospital. He was decorated with the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal of Germany and the Good Conduct Medal. A master carpenter, he was employed as a foreman for the C.F. Wooding Co. from 1960 until 1975. During the mid-60's he was president of the Carpenters Union local in Wallingford. From 1975 to 1983 he was the owner of Homestead Builders Inc., of Wallingford. In 1983, he moved to Pawcatuck and was the owner of the River Company Inc., a marina. From 1987 until his retirement in 1992 he was the owner of CBS Builders in Westerly, R.I. In the 1970's he was active in Boy Scouting as Scoutmaster of Troop 41 of Wallingford. He received numerous awards for his contribution to Scouting. He married on Oct. 18, 1947 in Wallingford to Marie Ruth Scott.

Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Stanley E. Kesilewski Jr.; a daughter-in-law, Gay Quaratella; a grandson, Stanley E. Kesilewski III of Oakdale; a brother, Henry Kesilewski of Wallingford; a sister, Florence Kesil of Meriden; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Edward and Walter Kesilewski; and three sisters, Mary Boryszewski, Agnes Tumash and Sally Muli.

Chapel service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, at the State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown. Burial will follow with full military honors. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 300 Research Parkway, Meriden, CT 06450. Belmont Funeral Home of Colchester has care of the arrangements.

Arnold W. Tyler

WALLINGFORD -- Arnold W. Tyler, 77, of McGuire Court, Wallingford, died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001, at the MidState Medical Center in Meriden. He was the beloved husband of Grace Hatch Tyler.

Born in Wallingford, Aug. 22, 1923, he was a son of the late Wesley and Mamie Wahl Tyler and had been a lifelong resident. Mr. Tyler was the proprietor of A.W. Tyler Engraving in New Haven for many years until his retirement. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, having served during World War II. He had been a member of the First United Methodist Church of Wallingford, a member of the Masonic Widow Son Lodge, AF and AM of Branford and the Branford Lions Club.

Besides his beloved wife, Grace, he is survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy A. and Karen B. Tyler and David J. and Lisa G. Tyler, all of Wallingford; his four grandchildren, Matthew Tyler, Jesse Tyler, Jonathan Tyler and Benjamin Tyler; his sister, Anna Passco of Wallingford; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Gladys Seleski; and a brother, Royal Tyler.

His family will receive relatives and friends at the Yalesville Funeral Home, 386 Main St., Yalesville section of Wallingford, Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service Monday at 7 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Wallingford, 941 Old Rock Hill Road, Wallingford. Interment will be private.

Michael E. Hoell

MIDDLETOWN -- Michael E. Hoell, 28, died Friday, April 6, 2001, at his parents home, Dr. John F. and Mrs. Arlene Negus Hoell in Whitinsville, Mass., after a long illness. He was the husband of Jacqueline Fekete Hoell.

Born in Upton, he moved to Connecticut in 1998. Before retiring due to illness, he was a claims representative for the Traveler's Insurance Company of Hartford.

Besides his wife and parents, he is survived by two sisters, Theresa M. Houlihan of Whitinsville and Anne E. Crotty of East Stroudsburg, Pa.; two brothers, John J. Hoell of Dennis, Mass. and Christopher B. Hoell of Whitinsville, Mass.; his maternal grandmother, Dorothy Negus of Upton, Mass.; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, E. William and Judith (Crossley) Fekete of Meriden; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Atty. Christopher and Mrs. Dana Longley of North Haven; and five nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. from the Williams-Pedersen Funeral Home, 45 Main St., Upton, Mass, with Mass at 10 a.m. in Holy Angels Church, followed by burial in Lakeview Cemetery, both in Upton. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge, 1795 W. 86th St., Indianapolis, Ind. 46260.

Charles Jones

LAKELAND, Fla. -- Charles Jones, 76, of Lakeland, Fla., died Monday, April 2, 2001, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, Lakeland, Fla. He was the husband of the late Helen Jones.

Charles was born in Columbia, S.C., He was a member of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church, Meriden. He was employed at Cytec Industries of Meriden as a chemical technician, retiring after 40 years of service, he had lived in Lakeland, Fla., for the past six years.

He is survived by a son, Donald Jones of New Britain; a stepson, Matthew Morgan of New York; a daughter, Bonnie Jones of Lakeside, Calif.; and stepdaughters, Allison Morgan and Heather Morgan of Meriden. He was predeceased by a sister, Rosa Thompson; and brothers, Eddie Edmonds and Tutor Edmonds.

A memorial service will be held Monday, April 9, at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church, Meriden, with burial in Wallingford. There will be no calling hours. The Oldham Funeral Home of Lakeland, Fla., has charge of arrangements.
