Wilbur F. Lisee

MERIDEN -- Wilbur F. Lisee, 95, husband of the late Helen Wanat Lisee, died on Tuesday, July 23, 2002 at MidState Medical Center. He was the son of the late Michael and Nora Lisee.

Mr. Lisee was employed by New Departure in Meriden and Bristol for many years. He was a parishioner of St. Peter and Paul Church and St. Stanislaus Church. Mr. Lisee looked forward to his 95th birthday and passed away one week later. He was predeceased by a son, Warren Lisee.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial on Friday, July 26, at 10 a.m. at St. Peter and Paul Church, 139 North Orchard St., Wallingford. Burial will be in St. Peter and Paul Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden.

David J. Zimmerman

GLASTONBURY -- David J. Zimmerman, 56, of Old Stage Road, Glastonbury, beloved husband of Jill (Harris) Zimmerman, passes away Monday, July 22, 2002 at the South County Hospital, Wakefield, R.I.

He was born in Meriden, May 26, 1946, son of Charlotte (Schee) Zimmerman of Meriden and the late Lester Zimmerman and had resided in Glastonbury for five years, having formerly lived in East Hampton. He was materials manager employed by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, Middletown. David was a graduate of the University of Connecticut and was an avid UConn Basketball fan. He enjoyed the theater, sailing and oil painting. He was the organizer of the Third Saturday's Group, formerly active in East Hampton Little League and was a former member of East Hampton Jaycees. David was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, East Hampton and enjoyed chaperoning students on high school music trips. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving during the Vietnam War. David enjoyed his family and friends and will always be remembered and loved by those who knew him.

Besides his beloved wife and mother, he is survived by two sons, Michael Zimmerman and his wife, Wendy of Middle Haddam, Stephen Zimmerman and his wife, Katherine of Burlington; his brother and sister-in-law, Lester and Sandy Zimmerman of Meriden; a granddaughter, Samantha; and two nephews, Kyle and Brett.

Friends are invited to call at the Spencer Funeral Home, 112 Main St., East Hampton, Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. A memorial service and celebration of David's life will be held on Saturday, July 27, at 1 p.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1 East High St., East Hampton with the Rev. William Hodge, Pastor, officiating. Private burial services will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Meriden. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 370, Wallingford 06492 or Bethlehem Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 31, East Hampton 06424.

James M. Bolger

NEW BRITAIN -- James M. Bolger, 80, of Farmington Ave., New Britain, died Friday, June 28, 2002, at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital, in Bedford, Mass. He was the husband of Lorna Ridley Bolger.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial Mass of Christian burial, Monday, July 29, at 10 a.m. in St. Francis Church, New Haven. Interment with military honors will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Meriden. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be sent to St. Francis Church Remembrance Fund, 397 Ferry St., New Haven, CT, 06513, or to the Alzheimer's Association, 919 N. Michigan Ave., Suite 1100, Chicago, Ill 60611-1676. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street, Ext., Wallingford.

John V. Briers Sr.

WALLINGFORD -- John V. Briers Sr., 71, of Jobs Road, Wallingford, died Thursday, July 25, 2002 in St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. He was the beloved wife of Shirley Colbath Briers.

Born in Auburn, N.Y., Feb. 19, 1931, a son of the late James and Gladys Jelley Briers, he was raised in Lowell, Mass., and had lived in Wallingford for many years. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Johnny Hutchinson stationed in Osaka, Japan. He was the recipient of the Korean Medal. A tool and die maker, Mr. Briers had been employed by the Pratt and Whitney Aircraft Co., for 15 years, U.S. Steel Co., for 5 years, and Allied Signal in Stratford for 18 years until his retirement six years ago. He was also a real estate investor with many properties in Wallingford.

Besides his beloved wife, Shirley, Mr. Briers is survived by his daughter, Pauline Cellano of Wallingford; his three sons and a daughter-in-law, Steven and Christine Briers of Southington, James J. Briers of Wallingford and John V. Briers Jr. of Meriden; his grandchildren, John V. Briers III, Shane Briers, Jason Briers, Nicholas Briers, Christine Cellano and Ashley Cellano; and his two great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Aaron Matthew.

Funeral services and burial in the In Memoriam Cemetery will be private. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St., Ext., Wallingford. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be sent to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Dr., Wallingford, CT. 06492.

Celia M. Parese

NORTH HAVEN -- Celia Mary Ciszek Parese, 83, of 125 Kings Highway, North Haven, died Wednesday, July 24, 2002 at the Hospital of St. Raphael's. She was the wife of Emilio (Gooch) Parese.

Born in Wallingford on Dec. 30, 1918, daughter of the late Stanley and Mary Jajesnica Ciszek. She had worked for the Stanley Judd Company.

She was the mother of Mary Parese Emerson of Hamden, John A. Parese of North Branford and Stanley E. Parese of Williamstown, Mass.; sister of Nellie Loin of Wallingford; also survived by 10 grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Doris Papa; and a brother, Leo Ciszek.

Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., North Haven, Monday at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Barnabas Church at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. Should friends desire memorial contributions may be made to St. Raphael's Foundation, 1450 Chapel St., New Haven 06511 or to St. Barnabas Church, 44 Washington Ave., North Haven, 06473.

Anne E. Schiavo

RED HOOK, N.Y. -- Anne E. Schiavo, 80, of Red Hook, N.Y., and formerly of Dobbs Ferry, died Saturday, July 20, 2002 at the Northern Dutchess Hospital, Rhinebeck.

She was a homemaker and a member of St. Christopher's Church in Red Hook, N.Y. Born in Meriden on Aug. 21, 1921, she was the daughter of the late John and Frances Fritz Knop Sr. On Oct. 5, 1946 at St. Mary Church in Meriden, she married Charles R. Schiavo Sr. Mr. Schiavo died April 26, 1997.

She is survived by a daughter, Lorraine Addorisio of Mahopac, N.Y.; four sons, Charles Schiavo Jr. of Red Hook, N.Y., Gerald Schiavo of Stormville, N.Y., Timothy Schiavo of Dover Plains, N.Y., and David Schiavo of New Fairfield; a sister, Mary O'Brien of Meriden; and a brother, John A. Knop of Meriden.

A Mass of Christian burial was held at St. Christopher's Church, 7411 S. Broadway, Red Hook, N.Y. Burial was private. Arrangements were under the direction of the Kenneth G. Giek, Burnett, Rockefeller & Hand Funeral Home, Red Hook, N.Y.

Clara Zanni

WALLINGFORD -- Clara Seveiri Zanni, 88, of Washington St., Wallingford, died Thursday, July 25, 2002, Elim Park Baptist Home, in Cheshire. She was the wife of the late Ernest Zanni.

Born in Italy, Feb. 19, 1914, she was a daughter of the late Mario and Natalena Gorgie Seveiri, and had been a Wallingford resident for many years. She was a parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Church, a member of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Society of the parish, and a member of the Wallingford Senior Center.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Eleanor and Harold Battis of Wallingford; her grandson, Alan Battis and his wife, Michele and her great-granddaughter, Nicole Battis all of Northford; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Margaret Evans; and her two brothers, George Seveiri and Nello Seveiri.

Her family will receive relatives and friends in the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street, Ext., Wallingford, Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. from the Wallingford Funeral Home, when the funeral cortege will proceed to Most Holy Trinity Church where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery in Wallingford.

Jeanne E. Baczek

DERBY -- Jeanne E. Baczek, 81, formerly of 39 Park Ave., Derby, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, July 25, 2002 surrounded by her loving family in the Griffin Hospital after a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Frank A. Baczek.

Mrs. Baczek was born in Derby, June 22, 1921, daughter of the late Edmund and Mary Ann Early Lique and has been a Derby resident for all of her life. She was a graduate of Derby High School, class of 1938, attended the Stamford Hospital School of Nursing, was a former member of the St. Mary's School Board and was a member of the Association of Operating Room Technicians, and was a retired Operating Room Tech. at Griffin Hospital for over 18 years.

Mrs. Baczek is the beloved mother of Jeanne DeGennaro and her husband, Thomas of Derby, Francis R. Baczek of Woodbury and Lorraine Mackey and her husband, Kevin of Meriden; she is the sister of Lorraine Nero of Hamden and Elizabeth long of Deltona, Fla.; Mrs. Baczek also leaves three loving grandchildren, Jennifer Ferrigno and her husband, Joseph, Kyle Mackey and Brett Baczek; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Robert and Raymond Lique; and four sisters, Isabel Callini, Muriel Belinske Wilkinson, Alice Celone and Edna Najjar Nicholas.

Her funeral will leave the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth St., Derby on Monday at 8:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian burial at 9 a.m. at St. Mary Church, Derby. Entombment will be in Mount St. Peter Garden Mausoleum. Friends may call on Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Griffin Hospital Development Fund, 131 Division Ave., Derby, CT 06418 and to Hewitt Memorial Hospital, 45 Maltby St., Shelton, CT 06484.
