Josephine Martinez

Josephine Martinez, a longtime Stamford resident, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001 at St. Camillus Health Care Center in Stamford. She was 99.

She died of natural causes, according to her family.

Born April 22, 1901, in Ponce, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Severo and Carmen Martinez Ortiz.

Mrs. Martinez was a factory worker at Gem Blades in New York City for many years.

She is survived by a son, Max Fernandez of Burlington; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two daughters, Patricia Velez and Lucille Sloat; and a brother, Carlos Martinez.

Calling hours will be 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001 at the Bouton & Reynolds Funeral Home, 2900 Summer St., Stamford.

A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will take place in Fairfield Memorial Park, Oaklawn Avenue, Stamford.

Lucille Sloat

Lucille Sloat, a longtime Stamford resident, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001 at St. Camillus Health Care Center in Stamford. She was 78.

She died of cardiopulmonary arrest, according to her family.

Born Nov. 9, 1922, in Ponce, Puerto Rico, she was a daughter of the late Rafael and Josephine Martinez Ortiz Sacarello.

Mrs. Sloat was employed at Ideal Magazine in New York City for many years until her retirement. She was a member of the Police Athletic League in Stamford.

She is survived by a son, Robert King of Stamford; a brother, Max Fernandez of Burlington; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Charles D. Sloat; and a sister, Patricia Velez.

Calling hours will be 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001 at the Bouton & Reynolds Funeral Home, 2900 Summer St., Stamford.

A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will take place in Fairfield Memorial Park, Oaklawn Avenue, Stamford.

Alexander Ingram

Alexander Ingram, a lifelong Stamford resident, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001 at West Haven Veterans Administration Medical Center. He was 73.

He died of heart failure, according to his family.

Born May 28, 1927, in Stamford, he was a son of the late John Ingram and Angela Machardy Ingram.

Mr. Ingram was a retired tool and dye maker and former co-owner of Tyger Tool Co. of Stratford. He retired in 1998.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Mr. Ingram was drafted by the New York Giants professional baseball team in 1944 but never played because he was drafted into the Army the same year.

He played softball for more than 40 years and attended St. John's Church in Stamford.

He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Evanko Ingram of Stamford; two sons, Glen J. Ingram and Darrell T. Ingram, both of Stamford; and two grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a brother, Angus Ingram.

Calling hours will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2001 at the Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 31 Arch St., Greenwich.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001 at the funeral home.

Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Greenwich.

Anna F. De Clemente

Anna F. De Clemente, a lifelong Stamford resident, died Monday, Jan. 22, 2001 at Norwalk Hospital. She was 82.

She died of cardiac arrest, according to her family.

Born Oct. 14, 1918, in Stamford, she was a daughter of the late Canio and Catherine Telesco.

Mrs. De Clemente was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Philip C. De Clemente of Stamford; two daughters, Patricia Ann De Clemente of Monroe and Diana Esposito of Norwalk; a brother, Dominick Telesco of Stamford; a sister, Jennie Genovese of Stamford; and a grandson.

She was predeceased by three brothers, Anthony Telesco, William Telesco and Angelo Telesco.

Calling hours will be 2 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001 at Lacerenza Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Ave., Stamford.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001 at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Ave., Stamford.

Burial will follow in Queen of Peace Cemetery, Rockrimmon Road, Stamford.

Eleanor DeMill Tisano

Eleanor DeMill Tisano, a lifelong Stamford resident, died Monday, Jan. 22, 2001 at home. She was 84.

She died of cardiac arrest, according to her family.

Born June 18, 1916, in Stamford, she was a daughter of the late William E. and Katherine Murray DeMill.

Mrs. Tisano was a homemaker and a member of St. Cecilia Church in Stamford. She was a member and past president of Sterling Farms 9 Holers Club in Stamford. Mrs. Tisano was an avid bridge player.

She is survived by her husband, Patrick J. Tisano of Stamford; two sons, William E. Tisano of Ellicott City, Md., and John P. Tisano of Stewart Manor, N.Y.; and five grandchildren.

She was predeceased by three sisters, Elizabeth Lawrence, Florence Lockwood Ferghery and Evelyn Taff.

Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001 at Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford.

A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:20 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, and head to St. Cecilia Church, 1184 Newfield Ave., Stamford, for a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m.

Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery in Darien.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Visiting Nurse and Hospice Care Inc., 1029 Main St., Stamford, CT 06902.

Florence P. Derenzis

Florence P. Derenzis of Shelton, a Greenwich native, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001 at Greenwich Hospital. She was 67.

She died of cancer, according to her family.

Born Aug. 29, 1933, in Greenwich, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Marie Filato Perrone.

She lived in Port Chester, N.Y., for 40 years.

She was a retired secretary for Fortune Brands Inc. in Greenwich.

She is survived by two sons, Ernest Derenzis of Monroe and Lewis Derenzis of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; a sister, Rose Vitti of Port Chester; and four grandchildren.

Mrs. Derenzis was predeceased by her husband, Louis Derenzis; and a brother, Lawrence Perrone.

Calling hours will be 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001 at Castiglione Funeral Home, 134 Hamilton Ave., Greenwich.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001 at Corpus Christi Church, 136 S. Regent St., Port Chester.

Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery in Rye Brook, N.Y.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 372 Danbury Road, Wilton, CT 06897.
