Emily L. McKenna
WALLINGFORD Emily L. Fensky Cameron McKenna, 93, of Highland Avenue, died Monday, Nov. 16, 1998, at the Westfield Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Meriden. She was the wife of the late Donald McKenna.
Born in Meriden, Aug. 11, 1905, she was a daughter of the late Gustav and Bertha Hoff Fensky and resided in California for many years until returning to Wallingford in 1990.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert W. and Marie Cameron of Wallingford; a grandson, Peter D. Cameron of Wallingford; a great-grandson, Jeffrey Cameron, and a sister, Ruth Ciccardi of Orangevale, Calif.
Funeral services and interment were private. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be sent to the charity of one's choice. Arrangements were under direction of the Yalesville Funeral Home, 386 Main St., Yalesville section of Wallingford.

Mary E. Palanik
SOUTHINGTON Mary Elizabeth Novak Palanik, 70, of Summit Street, in the Plantsville section of Southington, died Thursday, Nov. 19, 1998, at Midstate Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Joseph Palanik.
Born in Feb. 28, 1928, daughter of the late Joseph and Pauline (Kuchta) Novak, she was a lifelong resident of Southington. Mary graduated from St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Hartford in 1950. She was an industrial nurse, having worked at Marlin Rockwell, Heublein, International Silver and New Departure. She was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church and a member of the Immaculata Women's Club.
Mary is survived by a son, Richard Palanik of Southington. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Emil Novak.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Nov. 23, 1998, at 8 a.m. at Plantsville Memorial Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville, with a Mass of Christian burial at Immaculate Conception Church at 9 a.m. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. Donations in memory of Mary may be made to the Leukemia Society, 300 Research Parkway, Meriden, CT 06450.

Isabella Pryde
SOUTH YARMOUTH, Mass. Isabella Brown Pryde, 85, died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 1998, at Windsor Nursing Home after a short illness.
She was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, Oct. 11, 1913. She left Scotland at the age of 7 and lived most of her life in Wallingford, until she moved to South Yarmouth in 1980. She was educated in the Wallingford schools and graduated from Lyman Hall High School in 1931 and New Haven Teachers College in 1934. She taught at the Simpson School in Wallingford for 35 years. She was a choir member of the First Congregational Church of Wallingford and the First Congregational Church of Yarmouthport, Mass. She was a volunteer at the Red Cross Bloodmobile for many years and a library aide at the Masonic Home and the Yarmouthport Ditty Box. She was a former member of the Wallingford Country Club and the Scottish Highland Light Association of Cape Cod, Mass. She traveled to Canada, Ireland, Scotland, Norway, Germany, Austria and the northern parts of Africa as well as Florida and Bermuda.
She is survived by a sister Mary Cook of South Yarmouth; two nephews, David W. Cook of Concord, Mass. and Robert P. Cook of Newport, R.I.; two grandnieces; one grandnephew; and several cousins.
A funeral will be held Tuesday, Nov. 24, at 1 p.m. at the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the funeral home from noon to 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Chandler Gray Cemetery, West Yarmouth, Mass. Donations in her memory may be made to the Curtis Wing Memorial Fund, First Congregational Church, Route 6A, Yarmouthport, Mass. 02675.

Elsa Robichaud
NEW BRITAIN Elsa Schoch Robichaud, 87, formerly of New Britain, died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 1998, at Harbor Hill Care Center in Middletown. She was the widow of Edmund J. Robichaud.
Mrs. Robichaud was born in Bremerhaven, Germany, on Aug. 15, 1911, and came to live in New York City with her sister Katherine in 1926. After her marriage, she and her husband moved to Connecticut, and lived in New Britain for many years, where they were communicants at St. Francis Church.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Anne Constance Robichaud of Meriden; her sisters, Maria Reigl and Minna Schoch of Bremerhaven, Germany; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son, James P. Robichaud; her brother, Franz Schoch, and her sisters, Katherine and Susan.
There will be no calling hours, but a memorial Mass celebrating Mrs. Robichaud's life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 28, at 11 a.m. at Holy Angels Church, 915 Main St., South Meriden, with a reception to follow at the parish center.
Beecher and Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden, is in charge of the arrangements.

Axel E. Seadale
CHESHIRE Axel Emanuel Seadale, 93, of the Elim Park Baptist Home, 140 Cook Hill Road, passed away Thursday, Nov. 19, 1998, after a brief illness. He was married to the late Ranghild "Sophie" Johansen Seadale for 67 years.
Mr. Seadale was born in Klagshamn, Sweden, July 12, 1905, a son of the late Arvid and Louisa Johansen (Sjodahl) Seadale, and had lived in Hamden for many years before moving to Cheshire in 1994. He joined the Swedish Army at the age of 15 and played with the music corps for four years, emigrating to the United States in 1922. He was employed as a design engineer for the D.S.D. Magnatech Company, formerly of Hamden, for many years, retiring in 1970.
He was a longtime member of the Salvation Army, Scandinavian Corps of New Haven and was a musician and band master, and recently a member of the Whitney Christian Life Center of New Haven.
He is survived by three daughters, Ethel Jacques of Middlefield, Lorraine Reimer of Cheshire, Ruth Ohler of South Meriden; three sons, Stanley Seadale of Meriden; eight grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by two sisters, Allie Arvidson and Adele Olson, and a brother, Carl Seadale.
Funeral service will be held on Monday morning, Nov. 23, 1998, at 10 a.m. at the Beecher and Bennett Funeral Home, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, with the Rev. David L. Bucci and the Rev. Glen Havumacki officiating. Friends may call Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Cheshire. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Salvation Army, 450 George St., New Haven, CT 06511.

George I. Baxter
WALLINGFORD George I. Baxter, 76, of 9 Wayne Rd., died Saturday, Nov. 21, 1998, at his home after being stricken of an apparent heart attack. He was the husband of Carmela DeSantis Baxter.
Mr. Baxter was born in New Haven on March 25, 1922 and was the son of the late George A. and Pauline Ives Baxter. A resident of Wallingford for many years, he had worked for Pratt and Whitney of North Haven and Hartford for 29 years until his retirement in 1983. He had served in the U.S. Army for three years during World War II, having received the Bronze Star Medal.
Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Barbara P. Williams of Wallingford; and a son, Gregory P. Baxter of Southington; a sister, Doris Thomas of Brunswick, Maine; granddaughters, Lisa Williams, Kelly Suplinskas, Kimberly Gay and Kristina Baxter; and two great-grandchildren, Lauren and Gregory Suplinskas.
His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., North Haven, Tuesday morning at 9:30. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Barnabas Church, North Haven at 10 a.m. Interment with full military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Monday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Antonio Robaina
MERIDEN Antonio Robaina, 71, of 217 Natchaug Drive, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 1998, at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He was the husband of Aleida Betancourt Robaina.
Born in Havana, Cuba, on April 3, 1927, he was the son of Manuel and Teresa (Bandin) Robaina. He was self employed as an attorney in New Haven for 26 years. He is past president of the AILA, American Immigration Lawyers Association, Connecticut Chapter. He was a graduate of the University of Havana School of Law and the University of Connecticut School of Law.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Antonio and his wife, Anne Robaina, of Deep River, two daughters, Aleida and her husband, Joseph Herzog of Meriden and Ana Maria and her husband, Garrett Leavy of Seattle, Wash.; two brothers, J. Alberto Robaina of New York City and Manuel Robaina of New York; and one sister, Teresa Robaina of Miami, Fla.; four grandchildren, Alexandra and Christopher Herzog of Meriden and Katherine and Thomas Robaina of Deep River, Conn.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Rose Church, 35 Center St., Meriden, Conn., with a burial to follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Broad Street, Meriden. Friends and family may call at Szymaszek-Taylor Funeral Home, 189 East Main St., Meriden on Monday Nov. 23, from 5 to 9 p.m. It is suggested that gifts in his memory be sent to the Franciscan Life Center, 271 Finch Ave., Meriden, CT 06450.

Alfred R. Scarpa
WALLINGFORD Alfred R. Scarpa, 84, of Marc Drive, formerly of West Main Street, Branford, beloved husband of Raphael D'Amico Scarpa, died Saturday, Nov. 21, 1998, at Skyview Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Scarpa was born in Derby, May 22, 1914, a son of the late John and Philomena DeMarco Scarpa and had been a Branford resident for 55 years. An electrician, he had been employed at Genovese and Massaro, Inc. in New Haven for many years, and was a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 90 in New Haven. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Besides his wife, Raphael, he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Terry S. and James P. Sheehan of Wallingford; his son and daughter-in-law, A. Ronald and Judi Scarpa of Branford; his four grandchildren, Laura Bell, Jamie Sheehan, Nora Scarpa, and Susan Scarpa; a brother and sister-in-law, James and Elsie Scarpa of Derby; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four sisters, Margaret Scarpa, Nellie Tinari, Mildred D'Auito, Florence Gugliuzza, and Susan Milardo; and six brothers, Anthony Scarpa, Nicholas Scarpa, Louis Scarpa, Joseph Scarpa, John Scarpa, and Frank Scarpa.
His family will receive relatives and friends at the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext., Wallingford, Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday from the Wallingford Funeral Home at 9 a.m., when the funeral cortege will proceed to Our Lady of Fatima Church, 382 Hope Hill Rd., Yalesville section of Wallingford, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven. Gifts in his memory may be sent to either Branford-Guilford Visiting Nurse Association, 753 Boston Post Rd., Guilford, CT 06437, or the Visiting Nurse Association of Wallingford, 135 North Plains Industrial Rd., Wallingford, CT 06492.
