Thomas A. Cunningham

Thomas A. Cunningham of West Palm Beach, Fla., formerly of Stamford, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2001 at Hospice of Palm Beach County. He was 95.

He died of natural causes, according to his family.

Born Sept. 5, 1905, in Blackstone, Mass., he was the son of the late Patrick J. and Rose Ella Dorrington Cunningham.

Mr. Cunningham was a graduate of Providence College in Rhode Island. He was a teacher at Rogers School in Stamford for 27 years and was the organist and choir director at St. Mary's Church for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Theresa Cunningham of West Palm Beach; a son, Robert Cunningham of Switzerland; a sister, Mary Cunningham of Blackstone; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Leonia Smith Cunningham; his second wife, Eve Cunningham; a son, Thomas A. Cunningham; and two brothers, James Cunningham and Edwin Cunningham.

There will be no calling hours.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2001 at St. Mary's Church, 566 Elm St., Stamford.

Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Darien.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Palm Beach County, 5300 East Ave., West Palm Beach, FL 33407.

The Bosak-Talboys Funeral Home, 2900 Summer St., Stamford, handled arrangements.

Lucille C. DeLuca

Lucille C. DeLuca, a resident of Greenwich, died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2001 at The Nathaniel Witherell nursing home. She was 82.

She died of natural causes, according to her family.

Born Oct. 12, 1918, in Stamford, she is a daughter of the late Grace Hatfield Mitchell and Vincent James Mitchell.

She was a homemaker.

Mrs. DeLuca was predeceased by her husband, Harold DeLuca; and a sister, Lillian Schaumburg.

She is survived by two daughters, Grace Ferraris of Pompano Beach, Fla., and Patti DeLuca of Greenwich; two brothers, Vincent James Mitchell Jr. of Clearwater, Fla., and Joseph Mitchell of New Canaan; a sister, Roberta Davies of Sherman; and a granddaughter, Michele Sparan of Stamford.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2001 at St. Agnes Church, 247 Stanwich Road, Greenwich.

Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery on North Street in Greenwich.

Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 12, 2001 at Castiglione Funeral Home, 134 Hamilton Ave., Greenwich.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 372 Danbury Road, Wilton, CT 06897.

Eugenio Orrico

Eugenio Orrico of Trumbull, a former Greenwich and Stamford resident, died Friday, Feb. 9, 2001 at home. He was 81.

He died of heart failure, according to his family.

Born March 5, 1919, in Rosa, Italy, he was the son of the late Lorenzo and Rosaria Orrico.

Mr. Orrico was a retired assembler for Pitney Bowes in Stamford. He was a member of AARP and a parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Church in Greenwich.

He is survived by a son, Aldo Orrico of Trumbull; a grandson, Timothy Orrico of Trumbull; and a granddaughter, Rebecca Orrico of Trumbull.

He was predeceased by his wife, Carmella Iuele Orrico.

Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 12, 2001 at Castiglione Funeral Home, 134 Hamilton Ave., Greenwich.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2001 at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 4 Riverside Ave., Riverside.

Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Greenwich.

Liliana Pia

Liliana "Lillian" Pia, a longtime Stamford resident, died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2001 at home. She was 76.

She died of cancer, according to her family.

Born Sept. 1, 1924, in Rome, Italy, she was a daughter of the late Alfredo and Casilde Casini Albergati.

Mrs. Pia was a homemaker. She married an American serviceman from Stamford during World War II and immigrated to the United States. She was a member of VFW 9617 Ladies Auxiliary and AARP.

She is survived by her husband, Tony "Old Sarge" Pia of Stamford; a son, Frank Pia of Blair Mills, Pa.; a daughter, Barbara Pia Malizia of Norwalk; a brother, Angelo Albergati of Rome; two sisters, Anna Albergati and Rosina Gatti, both of Rome; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a son, Joseph John Pia; three brothers, Armando Albergati, Antonio Albergati, and Leonardo Albergati; and three sisters, Adele Rapaglia, Maria Lungarini and Pia Vita.

Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, Feb. 12, 2001 at Lacerenza Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Ave., Stamford.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2001 at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Ave., Stamford.

Burial will follow in Queen of Peace Cemetery, Rockrimmon Road, Stamford.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Bennett Cancer Center, 34 Shelbourne Road, Stamford, CT 06902; or Visiting Nurse Care and Hospice Care of Southwestern Connecticut, 1029 East Main St., Stamford, CT 06902.

Stella M. Rogozinski

Stella M. Rogozinski of Thomaston, formerly of Stamford, died Friday, Feb. 9, 2001 at a convalescent home in Watertown. She was 94.

She died of natural causes, according to her family.

Born Oct. 31, 1906, in Stamford, she was the daughter of the late Marijan and Marion Ornowski Malachowski.

Before retiring, Mrs. Rogozinski worked at Seth Thomas Clock manufacturing for 24 years. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, the Llasalette Society of Thomaston and the Thomaston Senior Citizens.

She is survived by a daughter, Dorothy Rogozinski of Thomaston; four sisters, Jean Horton of Stamford, Phyllis Wydka of Burbank, Calif., Jeanette Toczko of San Diego, and Loretta Farahger of New Jersey; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Anthony Rogozinski; a son, Raymond Rogozinski; a daughter, Joan Rabis; a brother, Edward Malachowski; three sisters, Helen Pieczko, Frances Bobonick and Katherine Duke.

Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m., today, Feb. 11, 2001 at Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High Street, Thomaston.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Monday, Feb. 12, 2001 at St. Thomas Church, 1 East Main St., Thomaston.

Burial will be held in the spring at St. Thomas Cemetery, Thomaston.

Memorial donations may be made to the Felician Order of Nuns, 1315 Enfield St., Enfield, CT 06082.

Charles Bennett Griffith Jr.,

a longtime Stamford resident, died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2001 at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport. He was 76.

He died of natural causes, according to his family.

Born Aug. 31, 1924, in Jersey City, N.J., he was a son of the late Charles Bennett Griffith Sr. and Henrietta Donnelly Griffith.

Mr. Griffith graduated from Stamford High School. He served as an electrician first class in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War.

He worked at Conde Nast as an electrician for many years. He was the founder and president of Fairfield Electric in Stamford and Stolfi Fairfield in Darien.

Mr. Griffith was an Eagle Scout and troop leader of the Boy Scout troop in Stamford. He was a member of the Shriners and volunteered for fund-raising activities.

He was a longtime member of the Lions Club in Darien, past president of the North Stamford Exchange Club and president of Vail's Grove Golf Course in North Salem, N.Y. He was a past president of the Stamford German Club and a member of Darien VFW, IBEW Local 3 and NECA. He was a member of United Methodist Church of Springdale.

He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Griffith of Stamford; four daughters, Kathleen Lee of Pittsfield, Mass., Nanci Griffith of Stamford, Barbara Halloran of Glenburn, Maine, and Pamela Wilson of Stamford; and seven grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a son, Charles B. Griffith Jr., and a brother, Arthur Griffith.

Calling hours will be 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001 at Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien.

A memorial service will be at noon Friday, Feb. 23, 2001 at the funeral home.

Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Masonic Home and Hospital, P.O. Box 70, Wallingford, CT 06492.
