Doris Anne Neilson
Doris Anne Neilson, age 77, formerly of Main Street, Danbury, died at Harborside Glenhill Nursing Home on Wednesday, February 2, 2005. Mrs. Neilson was the wife of Elmer F. Neilson who preceded her in death in 1983.

Doris was born on November 5, 1927, daughter of the late John and Helen (Jenks) McCahey in Saylesville, Rhode Island.

In 1939, she came to the Danbury area and graduated from New Milford High School.

On October 27, 1951, she married Elmer Neilson and they spent many loving years together raising their two sons.

In her later years, Doris worked in customer service for Grolier until her retirement in 1996.

She was a member of St. Gregory the Great Church in Danbury, and enjoyed reading in her spare time. Mostly she will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Doris will be sadly missed by her two sons: Robert and his wife Karen Neilson of Torrington and James and his wife Linda Neilson of Warrington, PA; three beloved grandchildren: Kathleen Neilson of Cromwell, Kristyn Neilson of New York City and John "Jack" Neilson of Warrington, PA. Mrs. Neilson is also survived by one sister: Helen Stack of New Milford.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter's Church in Danbury at 11 a.m. on Saturday February 5, 2005 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Interment services following Mass will be private and held at St. Peter cemetery, Danbury.

The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St., Danbury, on Saturday, February 5, 2005 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Memorial contributions in Mrs. Neilson's memory may be made to Kevin's Community Center, PO Box 37, Newtown, CT 06470 and may be visited on the Internet at www.kevinscommunitycenter.org

Rieta Durant Anderson
Rieta Durant Anderson, age 97, lifelong resident of the Danbury area, died on February 3, 2005 at Danbury Hospital. She was the wife of the late Stuart Anderson.

She was born in Bethel on October 5, 1907, a daughter of the late P.C. and Minnie Mae (Northrop) Durant.

Mrs. Anderson was a member of the 1925 graduating class of Bethel High School.

In 1931, she married Stuart Anderson of New Milford. She and her husband were longtime members of Master Masons and the Order of the Amaranth.

As a member of the Bethel Methodist Church for many years, she will be remembered there for her altar flower arrangements and her spectacular church decorations at Christmas time.

She also worked at Markoff's Shoe Store for 35 years, fitting several generations of children with Buster Brown shoes.

In addition to church and work, she found joy in gardening and in being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Anderson is survived by a son, Jon Anderson and his wife Claudia of Brookfield; a daughter, Linda Anderson Claff of Sharon, N.H.; eight grandchildren: Jeffrey Anderson, Julie Barry, James Anderson, Rachel Claff, Bethany Claff, Amy Hokett, Michael Anderson, and Gretchen Davis; and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Jay Anderson and by her three sisters and two brothers.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Brookfield Volunteer Fire Department, 96 Pocono Road, Brookfield, CT 06804 or to the Newbury Congregational Church, Tower Road, Brookfield, CT 06804.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 7, 2005, at 11 am at the Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Road, Brookfield. Interment will follow in Elmwood cemetery, Bethel. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 5, 2005, from 4 to 6 p.m.

Barbara Ann Lindquist
Barbara Ann Lindquist, 52, beloved wife of Carl and mother to Allison and Jaime Lindquist of Great Quarter Road, Sandy Hook, died December 21, 2004, at Danbury Hospital.

In response to the extraordinary, compassionate care she received, the family has established a memorial scholarship in Barbara's name for graduates of Newtown High School pursuing a career in nursing. Contributions may be sent to: Newtown Scholarship Association, P.O. Box 302, Newtown, CT 06470.

A celebration of Barbara's life will be held on February 12, 2005, at 11:30 a.m. at the Newtown Congregational Church.

Anne P. Casagrande
Anne P. Casagrande, 74, wife of the late Eugene B. Casagrande, of Danbury, died at the Bridgeport Hospital on Wednesday, February 2, 2005, following a brief illness.

She was born in Danbury, November 22, 1930, daughter of the late Patrick and Catherine (Lagan) Heron. Anne was a lifetime Danbury resident and a graduate of Danbury High School. She was a member of St. Peter Church in Danbury.

Anne is survived by a daughter, Lisa Koeppel and her husband, Kep, of Danbury; four sons, Eugene B. Casagrande, and his wife, Cathy, of Frederick, Maryland; Daniel E. Casagrande of Danbury; Edward J. Casagrande and his wife, Ester of Hillsborough, New Jersey, and Michael G. Casagrande and his wife, Stacey of Tomball, Texas; a brother, Daniel Heron of Danbury; two sisters, Margaret Heron of Danbury and Kathleen Jannuzzi of New Fairfield; 13 grandchildren: Katie and Alex Koeppel; Michael, Mark, Megan and Madeline Casagrande; Rick and Max Casagrande; Giovanni and Cristiano Casagrande and Matthew, Luke and Jacob Casagrande and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and her parents, Anne was predeceased by a brother, Patrick Heron.

Agnes L. (Gereg) Spina
Agnes L. (Gereg) Spina, 85, of Staples Street, Danbury, wife of the late John Spina, died at Danbury Hospital on Sunday, January 30, 2005. She was born in Brookfield on May 5, 1919, daughter of the late Stephen and Caroline (Duda) Gereg.

Mrs. Spina was a private duty nurse at Danbury Hospital for many years. She took pride in her profession and giving the best care possible to her patients.

She is survived by her daughter, Penny McCallum and her husband, John of Burnsville, Minn.; her grandsons, Chad and Ryan McCallum; her brother, Peter Gereg and his wife, Joan of Brookfield; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Road, Brookfield, today at 11 a.m. Burial in St. Peter cemetery will follow.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today between 10 and 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kevin's Community Center, P.O. Box 37, Newtown, CT 06470. It provides health care and medicine to the uninsured or low-income families. Since Agnes was a nurse, the family felt it is an appropriate cause.

William T. Sears
William T. Sears, 56, of Danbury, died on Thursday morning, February 3, 2005 at his home.

He was the husband of Cathy (Burke) Sears.

Mr. Sears was born in Mt. Vernon, New York, February 23, 1947, son of Josephine (Santello) Sears of Danbury and the late Richard Sears.

A resident of Mt. Vernon and the Bronx in early years, Mr. Sears was raised and educated at several U.S. Military Bases, where his father was a U.S. Army officer. He then attended Farleigh Dickinson University where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and later the University of Hartford where he received his Master's degree in the field of taxation.

Mr. Sears was a Certified Public Accountant in private practice and was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran.

A resident of Danbury for the past 25 years coming the Greenwich, CTWestchester County, NY area, he was active in the D.A.Y.O., Trojan and Bambino Baseball programs and assisted at the Block House at Rogers Park.

He was an avid reader and enjoyed to cook.

Mr. Sears was a member of the United Methodist Church of Danbury.

In addition to his wife Cathy of 32 years, a son, Craig Sears survives him.

Funeral services will take place on Sunday afternoon at 5 p.m. in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Avenue, Danbury, with the Rev. Eileen Freeman of the United Methodist Church officiating.

Cremation will take place at Charter Oak Crematory, Oxford.

Friends will be received in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, Danbury on Sunday after 2 p.m.

Memorials to the American Diabetes Association, 300 Research Parkway, Meriden, CT 06450 would be appreciated.

Lois M. Kuhlmann
Lois M. Kuhlmann, 65, of Newtown, died of a cerebral aneurysm on February 2, 2005 in Danbury Hospital.

Ms. Kuhlmann was born in Fairview, New Jersey on January 16, 1940, a daughter of the late Henry Fred and Estella Althea (Brooks) Kuhlmann. She moved to Newtown with her family in 1954 and was a graduate of Newtown High School, Class of 1959.

An international coordinator for George Wein Festival productions for 22 years, Ms. Kuhlmann arranged for musical venues throughout Europe, France, Italy and Turkey. She is mentioned in the recent publication, "Myself Among Others" by George Wein, founder of the Newport Jazz Festival, and her global reputation for booking professional jazz events was described by world-renowned musician/composer Jon Faddis as "simply amazing."

Civic-minded, Ms. Kuhlmann hosted town-wide rug hooking shows and house tours. She was also a key member of the technical crew for the public access Tercentennial television program, "Newtown 300," where she was solely responsible for graphics and audio.

Ms. Kuhlmann was an organ donor.

She is survived by her siblings, Sophie Wiss of Newtown, Jo Spector of Southbury and Dietrich H. Kuhlmann II of San Jose, CA and 8 nieces and 5 nephews, 13 great-nieces and 18 great-nephews, and her beloved felines, Thomas, Grayson and Chole.

Services and burial in Newtown Village cemetery will be in the spring at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main St., Newtown on Sunday February 6, 2005 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Newtown Ambulance Association, P.O. Box 344, Newtown, CT 06470 or to the Newtown Tercentennial Fund, c/o John Trentacosta, 39 Main St., Newtown, CT 06470 or to the charity of one's choice.

Helene H. Correa
Helene H. Correa, age 69, of New Milford, died on Thursday at the New Milford Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Elfrieda (Kalweit) Griffen, and former wife of James E. Correa Sr. of New Milford.

Helene was born August 25, 1935 in Blumenthal, Germany, and immigrated to the United States with her mother at the age of 13.

Initially residing in the town of Washington, she had been a resident of New Milford for many years.

Helene was employed with the Kimberly Clark Corp. in its diaper division, retiring 13 years ago.

Until the time of her illness, she was employed part-time with Stop and Shop Supermarket, New Milford, as a cashier.

Helene enjoyed gardening and had a special affection for animals, and was known for her sense of humor.

In addition to her former husband, Helene is survived by her son: James E. Correa Jr. and his wife Carolyn of Stormville, NY; two daughters: Michelle Bennette and her husband Jeff of New Milford, and Linda Hull of Harwinton, and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 6th at the Colonial Funeral Home, 87 Park Lane Road, New Milford, at 3:30 p.m. with the Rev. Michael Moran, Senior Pastor of the First Congregational Church of New Milford, officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 p.m. until the time of the service at 3:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions are requested to be made to the American Cancer Society, 372 Danbury Road, Wilton, CT 06897 or to the Animal Welfare Society, 8 Dodd Road, New Milford, CT 06776.
