Robert G. Davis

Robert G. Davis of Bethel, a former Norwalk resident, died Tuesday, June 6, 2000 at Bethel HealthCare Center. He was 77.

He died of acute kidney failure, according to his family.

Born July 19, 1922, in Danbury, he was a son of the late G. Herald and Xe Marie Sands Davis.

He was a graduate of Danbury High School.

He entered the U.S. Army in 1942, attaining the rank of captain, and was the recipient of various campaign medals, the Purple Heart, Silver and Bronze Stars and the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal. After his discharge, he worked for the Southern New England Telephone Co. for 38 years. He started as a lineman and retired as business office manager.

Mr. Davis was a board member and former president of the Norwalk United Way, and a member and board member of the following organizations: the Norwalk Chamber of Commerce, Industrial Relations for the Norwalk Hospital, Norwalk Economic Opportunity Now, The Norwalk/Westport YMCA Personnel Committee, the Norwalk Community Council, the American Red Cross of Norwalk, and the Kiwanis and Rotary clubs of Norwalk and Westport.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Pavia Council 48, Bethel, and a third-degree Knight, a founding member and past commander of the Catholic War Veterans, Post 1042 of Danbury, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 149, Danbury, and a member of the Church of St. Mary, Bethel, where he served on its building fund drive. He also served on the building fund drive committees for the following churches: St. Anne's in Milford, St. Luke's in Westport and St. Jerome's in Norwalk.

He is survived by two sons, Robert G. Davis and Justin S. Davis, both of Bethel; two daughters, Deirdre D. Sottosanti of Bethel and Barbara D. Stuart of Hyde Park, N.Y.; two brothers, Jerrold H. Davis of Deland, Fla., and Hubert A. Davis of Danbury; three grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara Fischer Davis.

Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, June 9, 2000 at Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Ave., Bethel.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 10, 2000 at the Church of St. Mary, Bethel.

Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Bethel.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary School, 24 Dodgingtown Road, Bethel, CT 06801.

Madeline Faugno

Madeline Faugno, a lifelong Stamford resident, died Tuesday, June 6, 2000 at Stamford Hospital. She was 80.

She died of natural causes, according to her family.

Born Aug. 3, 1919, in Stamford, she was a daughter of the late Arnold and Christine Iovino D'Andrea.

She worked in the mail department of Clairol Inc.'s executive office for 25 years before retiring.

She is survived by a son, Harry Faugno Jr. of Stamford; a daughter, Jean Telesco of Stamford; two sisters, Rose Faugno and Marge Sorbo, both of Stamford; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

She was predeceased by her husband, Harry Faugno Sr.; five brothers, Raymond D'Andrea, Anthony D'Andrea, Salvatore D'Andrea, Joseph D'Andrea and Erasmo D'Andrea; and a sister, Christine Possidento.

Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 8, 2000 at Lacerenza Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Ave., Stamford.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 9, 2000 at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Ave., Stamford.

Burial will follow in Queen of Peace Cemetery in Stamford.

Lacerenza Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Ave., Stamford, is handling arrangements.

Eleanor W. Hayes

Eleanor W. Hayes, a Stamford resident, died Tuesday, June 6, 2000 at Stamford Hospital. She was 83.

She died of natural causes, according to her family.

Born March 26, 1917, in Stamford, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Elsa Ernst Butze.

Mrs. Hayes was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph D. Hayes of Stamford; a daughter, Jo Ann M. Urban of Bethel; a son, Frederick J. Hayes of Stamford; and five grandchildren.

Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 8, 2000 at Leo P. Gallagher Funeral Home, 2900 Summer St., Stamford.

A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 9, 2000 at Zion Lutheran Church in Stamford.

Burial is private.

Memorial donations may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 132 Glenbrook Road, Stamford, CT 06902; or the American Red Cross, 986 Bedford St., Stamford, CT 06902.

Hadameni Paschale

Hadameni "Ida" Paschale, a longtime Stamford resident, died Monday, June 5, 2000 at Stamford Hospital. She was 81.

She died of cardiac arrest, according to her family.

Born July 25, 1918, in New York City, she was a daughter of the late George and Efrosine Paschale.

While living in New York City, she worked for D&L Novelties and Henri Bendell. After moving to Connecticut, she was employed by Bloomingdales as head sales clerk. She retired after 25 years of service.

Ms. Paschale was a parishioner of the Greek Orthodox Church of the Archangels in Stamford and was a member of the Ladies Philoptochos Society and the Archangels Seniors.

She is survived by a brother, Paschale Paschale of Stamford; and a nephew, George Powell of Stamford.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Sophie Powell and Stella Paschale.

Calling hours will be 5 to 9 p.m. today, June 7, 2000 at Bouton and Reynolds Funeral Home, 2900 Summer St., Stamford.

A service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 8, 2000 at the Church of the Archangels, Bedford and Third streets, Stamford.

Burial will follow in Putnam Cemetery in Greenwich.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Greek Orthodox Church of the Archangels, 1527 Bedford St., Stamford, CT 06905.

Louise A. Stefanowski

Louise A. Stefanowski, a former Stamford resident, died Friday, June 2, 2000 at Donnelly Place in Lantana, Fla. She was 96.

She died of natural causes, according to her family.

Born Dec. 11, 1903, in Stamford, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Mehan.

She lived in Stamford until moving to Brookfield in 1976. While in Brookfield, she was a member of the Senior Center and St. Joseph Church.

She was known for her artwork. She exhibited her work in Brookfield, painted greeting cards and was accomplished in ceramics and quilting. As a member of the Senior Center, she solicited donations and ran booths for the annual Christmas bazaar and received community awards for her volunteer efforts.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary L. Kelly of Tivoli, N.Y., and Ann S. Elges of West Palm Beach, Fla.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predecased by six brothers, Joseph Stefanowski, Frank Stefanowski, Albert Stefanowski, John Stefanowski, Anthony Stefanowski and Edward Stefanowski.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at Holy Name of Jesus Church in West Palm Beach, Fla.

There will be a memorial Mass at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 17, 2000 at St. Joseph Church in Brookfield.

There will be a graveside service at St. John Cemetery in Darien.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Church, 158 Whisconier Road, Brookfield, CT 06804; or the Brookfield Senior Center, Municipal Center, Pocono Road, Brookfield, CT 06804.

Joseph Trapasso

Joseph Trapasso of Katonah, N.Y., died Monday, June 5, 2000 at home. He was 79.

He died of cancer, according to his family.

Born Sept. 26, 1920, in Antonamina, Italy, he was a son of the late Felice and Rosa Sansalone Trapasso.

He was owner of TSI Development Corp. in Somers, N.Y. He was a member of the Sons of Italy White Plains, N.Y., chapter, the Builders Institute of Westchester County and the Bee Keepers Association of Connecticut. A Katonah resident for 22 years, he previously lived in Yonkers, N.Y.

He is survived by his wife, Antoinette Trapasso of Katonah; a son, Philip Trapasso of Katonah; a daughter, Jill Moran of Stamford; two brothers, Dominc Trapasso of Somers and Francesco Trapasso of Italy; six grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

No calling hours are scheduled.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 10, 2000 at St. Mary's Church, Katonah.

Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice Care, Westchester and Putnam, 100 S. Bedford Road, Mt. Kisco, NY 10549.

The Clark Associates Funeral Home of Katonah is handling arrangements.
