Maria Wildman

October 05, 1939 - January 29, 2006

Maria (Ullrich) Wildman, 66, of Southview Avenue, Danbury, wife of the late Clayton George Wildman, died at Danbury Hospital on Sunday, January 29th. She was born in Zelam Ebersbeg, Germany on October 5, 1939, daughter of the late Alfred and Juliana (Kraus) Ullrich.

Mrs. Wildman was a homemaker who lovingly maintained the family home. She attended Walnut Hill Church in Bethel and was very active at the Brookfield Senior Center. Most importantly, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

She will be sadly missed by her two daughters, Elli Hess, with whom she made her home in Danbury, and Brigitta Brewster of Danbury; her son, William Wildman of Shenzhen, China; her five cherished grandchildren, Alicia, Bailey, Michael, Robert and William; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her son, George Wildman.

Funeral Information

A Graveside Service will be held at Wooster cemetery on Friday, February 3rd at 10:00am.

The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Thursday, February 2nd between the hours of 5 and 8pm. A Funeral Service will take place at 7:00pm with Rev. William Hall of Walnut Hill Church officiating.

Lizbeth Payne

September 21, 1946 - January 27, 2006

Lizbeth “Libby” Ryan (Aucott) Payne, 59, of Old Tavern Road, Newtown, devoted wife of Paul D. Payne, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, January 27th. She was born in Portland Oregon on September 21, 1946, daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret (Michael) Aucott.

Libby was a devoted homemaker who maintained the family home. She was an active member of Newtown Country Club since 1987 and was past Tournament Chairperson and Women’s Club Champion. She was a former member of the Board of Newtown Scholarship Association, and loved rescue animals.

Most importantly, Libby was a loving wife and mother who lived by being a true, loyal and thoughtful friend with a fantastic sense of humor. Her personal philosophy was that it matters not how much you have or where you’ve been; but rather, who you have beside you.

In addition to her husband, Paul, she will be sadly missed by her two sons, David T. Payne of the New Canaan Police Department and his fiancé, Lena Onyshkewych, and Michael J. Payne of Chicago, IL.; her stepson, Timothy S. Payne and his wife, Stacy of Southern California; two grandchildren, Garrett and Austin Payne; her sister, Melinda Dahl of Olympia, Washington; and her inlaws, Homer and Beth Payne of Oregon.

Funeral Information

All Services will be held privately, the Cornell Memorial Home is in charge of arrangements.

Elsie DelMonte

May 08, 1917 - January 24, 2006

Elsie (Ceppo) DelMonte, 88, of Birch Drive, Bethel, devoted wife of the late Jack DelMonte, died in Florida on January 24th. Mrs. DelMonte was born in Danbury on May 8, 1917, daughter of the late Vitorio and Delfina (Rappa) Ceppo.

Elsie spent her childhood years in Danbury, where she met the love of her life, Jack; they were married on February 19, 1938. The two made their home in Bethel in 1955. She maintained a winter residence in Delray Beach, Florida.

Elsie worked as an office manager for Lovells. She was an active parishioner of St. Mary Church, Bethel where she was a Past President of the former St. Mary’s Guild. She also served on the Board of Catholic Charities for 36 years and was involved in the development of Augustana Homes. She also served as an Admission Chairman for Augustana Homes. For her efforts in these capacities she received the “Mary Dolce Memorial Award” in 1984.

Elsie proudly registered as a Democrat the moment she was able to vote and remained a strong supporter of the Democratic Party throughout her life. In 1957 she became a member of the Democratic Town Committee. She later served on the first Chapter Commission in Bethel; the Zoning Board of Appeals; and Bethel’s first Housing Authority. On the State level, she served on the Democratic State Central Committee; she was appointed by Governors Grasso and O’Neil as a trustee of the Southbury Training School. Mrs. DelMonte loved to devote her time to helping those in need.

In addition to her political involvement, Elsie was involved for more than 60 years with the POCAHONTAS Degree of the Improved Order of Redmen. She had also served as the National President of this fraternal organization and held the offices of state President and Local President.

Elsie was a very special person. She served her neighbor, her Town, her State, her Country and her God with her time, her knowledge and her heart.

She will be sadly missed by her family and friends, including, her cousins, David Caruba and Delia Ferrarone; her sisters-in-law, Helen Dekker and Marge DelMonte; her brother-in-law, Frank Richichi; and cousins in Italy. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews.

Elsie was predeceased by her dear sister-in-law, Virginia Scalzo.

Funeral Information

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 1st at 10:00am at St. Mary Church, Bethel, please meet at church. Burial in Wooster cemetery will follow. There are no calling hours. The Cornell Memorial Home is in charge of arrangements.

Peter P. Buscemi

October 13, 1942 - November 01, 2003

Peter P. Buscemi, 61, of Sunset Hill Road, Brookfield, devoted husband of Paula (Tierney) Buscemi, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, November 1st at New Milford Hospital. He was born in Lakehurst, New Jersey, on October 13, 1942, son of Arthur and Eileen (Geaney) Buscemi.

Peter graduated from the University of Connecticut, School of Law with a Juris Doctor. He received his Bachelors Degree from Fordham University where he was active in R.O.T.C. He was a Veteran of Vietnam, serving as Captain with the Signal Corps of the United States Army. He was a recipient of the Army Commendation Medal, two Bronze Star Medals, an Air Medal, and the Vietnam Service Ribbon with Triple Battle Cluster for his meritorious achievement in Vietnam. He was also the recipient of several commendations, awards and medals from the Vietnam Government for his service there.

Peter maintained a Private Law Practice in the Brookfield community. He was a past member of the Brookfield/Danbury Rotary Club, was a member and past president of the Brookfield Exchange Club, and former member of the Community Advisory Board for Center Bank. He was a member of the Brookfield VFW, and Disabled American Veterans.

Besides his loving wife and parents, he is survived by two daughters, Christine Musorofiti and her husband, Christopher of Forest Hills, NY., and Catherine Buscemi, of Forest Hills, NY; and a son, J. Paul Buscemi of Los Angeles, CA.. He is also survived by a brother, John J. Buscemi of Waldon, VT., and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Information

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 7th, 10:00am, at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church in Brookfield. Burial will follow in Central cemetery, Brookfield. Friends may call at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury on Thursday, November 6th between the hours of 5 and 8 pm.

Warren D. Beach

October 04, 1915 - February 05, 2006

Warren D. Beach of Danbury, devoted husband of Helen (Holzwarth) Beach, passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 5th, of natural causes. He was born in Bethel on October 4, 1915, son of the late George W. and Viola (Barton) Beach.

Mr. Beach retired as a tool room supervisor from Capitol Machine and Tool Co in Danbury after 35 years of employment.

He was dedicated member of the Free Masons and Union Lodge 40, A.F. & A.M. and received his 50 year membership mason certificate in 1993. He was also a proud and faithful member of the Pyramid Shriners and was active in many of their events. He was always very appreciative of his lodge brothers for their friendships.

In addition to his cherished wife of 63 years, Helen, he will be sadly missed by his sons, Richard D. Beach and his wife, Gina of Windsor, and David W. Beach of New Fairfield. He is also survived by his sister, Christine Taylor of Danbury.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Edward, Howard and Charles Beach.

Funeral Information

Funeral Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. There are no Calling Hours. The Cornell Memorial Home is in charge of arrangements.

Berta Herrmann

November 16, 1906 - February 04, 2006

Berta (Voegtlin) Herrmann, 99, wife of the late George Herrmann, died on Saturday, February 11, 2006 at Danbury Health Care Center. She was born in Weil am Rhein, Germany on November 16, 1906, daughter of the late Wilhelm and Bertha (Weber) Voegtlin.

In 1957 she immigrated with her children to the United States and settled in Danbury.

She was a member of the Arion Chorus.

She is survived by her two sons, Karl-Heinz and his wife, Waltraud of Florida, Gerhard (Jerry) Brunner of Danbury, and daughter Lilo Pap-Nemes and her husband, John of Danbury; three grandchildren, Gabriele Spaziani, Gregory Pap-Nemes and fiancé Christina Schlichting, Frank Brunner and his wife, Tamara; her six great grandchildren, Angelo, Amanda, Kira, Nicole and twins Luke and Joshua. She is also survived by her brother, Albert Voegtlin and his wife Renate of Germany; as well as several nieces and nephews of Germany.

Funeral Information

Funeral Services will be held privately. There are no calling hours. The Cornell Memorial Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

Anton J. Sidoti

March 10, 1945 - February 08, 2006

Anton J. Sidoti, 60, of Kohanza Street, Danbury, husband of Diana C. (Ferlazzo) Sidoti, passed away of at NYU Medical Center in New York, on Wednesday, February 8th. He was born in Jersey City, NJ., on March 10, 1945, son of Catherine (Tomasulo) Sidoti and the late Anthony Sidoti.

Mr. Sidoti was employed as Civil Engineer for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission in New York City for thirty-eight years. He was a very energetic person who was kind, honest, and very devoted to his family. He brought much joy to his loved ones and was “the life of family functions.”

In addition to his beloved wife of 37 years, Diana, he is survived by his son, Salvatore Sidoti and his wife, Magdalena of Naugatuck; his daughter, Serena Raslavsky and her husband, David, of Danbury; his grandchildren, Gabriel and Nicholas. He is also survived by a brother, Christopher Sidoti of PA; his two sisters, Francesca Caldwell of NY and Jacqueline Villano of NJ; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Information

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 15th at 10:00am at St. Joseph Church, Danbury. Cremation will take place at the direction of the family.

There are no calling hours. The Cornell Memorial Home is in charge of arrangements.
