Alfred Catucci

Alfred T. Catucci, 73, of Bristol, died July 2, 2004, at New Britain General Hospital.

He was the husband of Gloria (Aylett) Catucci.

He was born on Oct. 18, 1930, a son of the late Vito and Rose (Giovino) Catucci.

He was raised in Plainville, attended Plainville schools and graduated from Plainville High School in 1948.

A Bristol resident since 1955, he owned and operated the Cradle Care Diaper Service in Bristol and Kids Fare at the Depot in Unionville.

He was active in local politics in his earlier years.

He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Bristol.

Besides his wife of 48 years, he is survived by three sons, Ronald Catucci and his fiance, Lorraine Zarrella, of Bristol; Thomas Catucci of Bristol; and Steven Catucci of Burlington.

He is also susvived by a sister, Theresa Lawson of Plainville; six grandchildren, Christopher, Justin, Anthony, Daniel, Stephanie and Samantha Catucci; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a son, Daryl Catucci.

A Requiem Mass was held July 6 at Trinity Episcopal Church.

Burial was in Peacedale cemetery, Bristol.

Memorial donations may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church Memorial Fund, 173 Summer St., Bristol, CT 06010.

David Foberg

David P. Foberg, 67, of Plainville, died July 3, 2004, at his home.

Born in New Britain, he was the son of the late Arvid and Florence P. (Madigan) Foberg.

He lived in New Britain until moving to Plainville in 1974.

A graduate of New Britain High School, class of 1954, he graduated from the Teachers College of Connecticut, now Central Connecticut State University, and received a master's degree in education from the University of Hartford.

He was employed in the New Britain school system from 1960 to 1993 as a math teacher at Holmes Elementary, Nathan Hale, and Slade Middle School with the last five years as PPT coordinator for secondary students as a certified guidance counselor.

He was a past president for the New Britain Federation of Teachers.

He was a member of First Lutheran Church in New Britain, a member of the church council and the adult choir.

He served as cook for the church and assisted at the summer day camp, Lenten Luncheons, and other church functions.

He also worked at Camp Schade (New Britain Fresh Air Camp) for 20 years, the last three as camp director.

He was a former member of the Connecticut Gay Men's Chorus in New Haven.

He is survived by a brother, Donald H. Foberg, and his wife, Dale, of Glastonbury; several nieces and nephews; and three cousins.

Included in his family is Barbara Griffin of Ridgefield.

He was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Griffin, in 1958.

A memorial service was held July 9 at First Lutheran Church.

Burial was in Fairview cemetery.

John Perreault

John Joseph Perreault, 79, of Plainville, died at his home, July 3, 2004, with his family by his side.

He was the husband of Jeanne Marie (Cyr) Perreault.

He was born July 29, 1924, in Drummond, New Brunswick, Canada, a son of the late Basile and Marie-Louise (Dionne) Perreault.

He served in the Canadian Army before working as a welder at Dunham & Bush for many years.

Besides his wife of 51 years, he is survived by his son, John J. Perreault, and his wife, Kathy, of Plainville; three granddaughters, Kristine, Amanda and Tessa Perreault of Plainville; a grandson, John J. Perreault III, and his mother, Brenda Kelly of Bristol; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral was held July 7 at Bailey Funeral Home, Plainville, followed by a mass of Christian burial at Our Lady of Mercy Church, Plainville.

Burial was in West cemetery, Plainville.

Marilyn Wilde

Marilyn S. (Semrow) Wilde, 64, of Plainville, the widow of Henry E. Wilde, died July 6, 2004, at Hughes Health and Rehabilitation in West Hartford after a battle with scleroderma.

She was born in Bristol on Oct. 17, 1939, the daughter of Fred Semrow of Bristol and the late Arline (Winters) Semrow.

She formerly resided in Bristol before moving to Plainville 41 years ago.

She was employed at Critikon/Johnson & Johnson for over 25 years before retiring.

More recently she worked part time at First Connecticut Insurance Agency.

A longtime member of the Bristol Lions Club, she served in various positions for the club.

She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Bristol.

Besides her father, she is survived by two sons, Barry Wilde and his fiancee, Gail Pipeling, of Plainville, and Scott Wilde and Lisa Jasak of Malden, Mass.; a brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Carol Semrow of Cromwell; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Noreen Tien of Austin, Texas; Donna and Norm D'Onofrio of Newington; and Linda and John Frecko of East Hartford; three grandchildren, Matthew, Justin and Desiree; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral was held July 9 at Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Burial was in West cemetery, Bristol.

Funk Funeral Home, Bristol, was in charge of arrangements.

George Alexandrowicz

George P. Alexandrowicz, 69, of Bristol, died July 27, 2004, at Bristol Hospital.

He was born in Bristol on March 28, 1935, a son of the late Philip "Little Wrinks" Alexandrowicz and Germaine (Lagasse) Alexandrowicz.

He worked as a real estate agent in Bristol and Plainville.

A Vietnam veteran, he served a total of 14 years in the U.S. Navy.

He was a member of the American Legion Seicheprey Post 2 and St. Ann Church, Bristol.

He is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Rene Soucy of Bristol; a niece, Catherine Cessario; three nephews, Joseph, Philip and Stephen Soucy; and 12 greatnieces and greatnephews.

A Mass was celebrated July 30 at St. Ann Church.

Burial with military honors was in St. Joseph cemetery, Bristol.

Funk Funeral Home, Bristol, was in charge of arrangements.

Arthur Bard

Arthur G. Bard, 78, of Plainville, died July 26, 2004, at Plainville Health Care.

He was the husband of the late Lucille (Gagnon) Bard.

He was born on Dec. 24, 1925, in Maine to the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Bard.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was a parishioner at Our Lady of Mercy Church for many years, and in his spare time he enjoyed the art of woodworking.

Bard is survived by his two sons, Gerald Bard and his wife, Nancy, of Scotland, Conn.; Carl Bard and his wife, Karen of Plainville; his daughter, Patty Ann Milbrantt and her husband, Bruce, of Norwalk, Ohio; a brother; two sisters; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held July 30 at Bailey Funeral Home, Plainville.

Burial was in St. Joseph cemetery, Plainville.

Robert Davis

Robert A. Davis, 49, of Plainville, died July 25, 2004.

He was born on July 13, 1955, in New Britain, a son of the late Theodore and Norma (Roach) Davis Sr.

He is survived by his son, Brendon Davis of Bristol; his longtime girlfriend, Colleen Almada; his three brothers and their spouses, Theodore and Lorraine Davis Jr. of Southington, Thomas Davis and his fiancee, Jeannie Boucher of Bristol, and Edward and Kim Davis of Southington; four nieces; a nephew; and greatnieces and greatnephews.

The funeral was held July 30 at O'Brien Funeral Home, Forestville.

Kenneth Olson

Kenneth Vance Olson, 71, of New Britain and Salem, Conn., died July 23, 2004. at his home.

He was the husband of Judith E. Olson.

A native of Verdi, Minn., he was the son of the late Frank and Alice Olson.

He graduated from Verdi schools before serving in the U.S. Marine Corps in Japan and Korea during the Korean conflict.

He received his bachelor's degree from Central Connecticut State University, his master's degree from the University of Connecticut, and did advanced graduate work at Clark University, Wilkes-Barre College, and UConn.

From 1960 to 1968 he taught social studies and served as a guidance counselor at Plainville High School.

He joined the faculty at CCSU in 1968 and served as a secondary education professor for 25 years in the School of Education and Professional Studies.

He retired as an associate professor emeritus in 1993 and then taught part time.

He was a consultant in Connecticut and for the state Department of Education, and he was a member of several honor societies and professional organizations.

Olson, a resident of New Britain since 1955, was active in several community service, fraternal, patriotic, veterans, and Republican political organizations.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Kristen, and her husband, Rob Blackburn, of Houston, Texas; two grandsons, Brandon and Dane; his brother, Burton Olson, and his wife, Pamela, of Burnsville, Minn.; a niece, Jennifer, and her husband, Scott Myer, of Atlanta, Ga.; and his mother-in-law, Winnie Knapp of Middletown.

He was predeceased by his son, Christopher Kent Olson.

The funeral was held July 27 at South Congregational/First Baptist Church, New Britain.

Burial with military honors was in Fairview cemetery, New Britain.

Louis A. Saucier

Louis A Saucier, 72, of East Street, died July 31, 2004, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in West Haven.

He was the widower of Carmen (Castonguay) Saucier.

Born in Fort Kent, Maine, he was a former New Britain resident, moving to Plainville in 2000.

A World War II U.S. Army veteran, he was employed at Alpha Plating in Plainville for 10 years. He retired in 1985.

He was a member of the New Britain VFW Post.

He is survived by a sister, Theresa Kent, in Maine; one niece and two nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Aug. 3 at St. Joseph's Church in New Britain.

Burial with military honors was in Fairview cemetery.

Harry Slomski

Harry J. Slomski, 76 of New Britain, died July 25, 2004, at Hartford Hospital.

He was born in New Britain and was the son of the late Alexander and Petronella (Kierklewska) Slomski.

He worked for the state Department of Transportation in the highway maintenance department.

He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of Holy Cross Church, New Britain.

He is survived by three brothers, Peter Slomski of Plainville, Alexander Slomski and Edward Slomski, both of New Britain; two sisters, Mary Lamagna of Enfield and Theresa Slomski of New Britain; a goddaughter, Genevieve Slomski of New Britain; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral was held July 29 at the Paul A. Shaker/Farmingdale Funeral Home, New Britain, with a liturgy of burial at Holy Cross Church, New Britain.

Burial was in Sacred Heart cemetery, New Britain.

For memorial donationsm the family suggests giving blood to the American Red Cross.
