Wallace E. Riffelmacher,

a longtime Stamford resident, died Monday, July 17, 2000 at home. He was 71.

He died of heart failure, according to his family.

Born Oct. 14, 1928, in Springfield, Mass., he was the son of the late Edwin and Ruth K. Kohler Riffelmacher.

Mr. Riffelmacher served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a retired real estate broker and a former member of the Stamford Board of Realtors.

He is survived by his wife, Diane Alexis Riffelmacher of Stamford; a son, David Carl Riffelmacher of Nashua, N.H.; a sister, Marie Haynes of Kansas City, Mo.; and three grandchildren.

There are no calling hours.

A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 2000 at Oak Grove Cemetery in Springfield.

Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford, is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Drive, Wallingford, CT 06492.

Audrey Gallagher of Jacksonville,

Fla., a former Stamford resident, died Thursday, July 13, 2000 at home. She was 65.

She died of a brain tumor, according to her family.

Born June 25, 1935, in Meriden, she was a daughter of Dorothy Wescott of Stamford and the late Ralph Wescott.

Mrs. Gallagher was a homemaker. She enjoyed wood carving and sewing.

She is survived by a son, Larry Gallagher of Jacksonville; a daughter, Megan Beasley of Jacksonville; two sisters, Patricia Malarkey of Stamford and Carol Rose of Southern Shores, N.C.; and a grandchild.

She was predeceased by her husband, John Gallagher.

Funeral services and burial were private in Jacksonville.

A memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, July 23, 2000 at United Methodist Church of Springdale, 1116 Hope St. Stamford.

A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall of the church.

Huewell & Sons Funeral Home, University Boulevard, Jacksonville, is handling arrangements.

John Palladino

John Palladino, a longtime New Canaan resident, died Tuesday, July 18, 2000 at Norwalk Hospital. He was 88.

Ethylee Powers Woodward,

a former longtime Greenwich resident, died Monday, July 17, 2000 at Friend's House retirement community in Santa Rosa, Calif. She was 86.

She died of Parkinson's disease, according to her family.

Born July 24, 1913, in Montville, she was the daughter of the late Charles W. and Rosa Holmes Powers.

Mrs. Woodward graduated from Norwich Free Academy and attended New Britain Normal College. She earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Chicago and a master's degree in social work from the University of Pennsylvania.

She was a psychiatric social worker in Greenwich Public Schools. She was a volunteer counselor for Quakers at New York prisons and active in Meals on Wheels. She was an avid traveler and reader.

She is survived by two nephews, William Steven Taber of San Anselmo, Calif., and Herman Karl Kinnie of Hilbert, Wis.; and three stepdaughters, Ernestine Hutcheson Olson and Ellen Hutcheson, both of Boothbay, Maine, and Penelope Woodward of Santa Rosa.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Arnold Hutcheson, and her ex-husband, Donald A. Woodward.

A memorial service was held Friday, July 21, 2000 at Friend's House.

Memorial donations may be made to Friend's House, 684 Benicia Drive, Santa Rosa, CA 95409.

Helen B. Tozzoli,

a Stamford resident, died Sunday, July 30, 2000 at Stamford Hospital. She was 77.

She died of congestive heart failure, according to her family.

Born Oct. 19, 1922, in Stamford, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine Sabanella Tozzoli.

Ms. Tozzoli attended Stamford High School. She was an assembler at Pitney Bowes and Esbeco Distillery, both in Stamford. She retired from Omega Engineering in 1990.

She is survived by a brother, Mario Tozzoli of Bethel; and a sister, Anne Caper of California.

She was predeceased by three brothers, James Tozzoli, Michael Tozzoli and Arthur Tozzoli; and three sisters, Angelina Tozzoli, Edith Grassi and Anita Lanterna.

Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, July 31, 2000 at Lacerenza Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Ave., Stamford.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2000 at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Ave., Stamford.

Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery in Darien.

Richard A. Rosa of Decatur,

Ala., a former Stamford resident, died Wednesday, July 26, 2000 at Decatur General Hospital. He was 62.

He died of heart failure, according to his family.

Born May 12, 1938, in Stamford, he was the son of the late Samuel and Rose Rotundi Rosa.

Mr. Rosa graduated from Stamford High School in 1956. He graduated from the University of Bridgeport and Merrill School of Business at New York University.

He was a certified public accountant at Hertz Rental Car and Alexander's Department Store, both in New York City.

He is survived by an aunt, Pauline Rosa of Decatur; and a nephew, Troy D. Smith of Decatur.

A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2000 at St. John Cemetery in Darien.

Lacerenza Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Ave., Stamford, is handling arrangements.

Joseph T. Bruno,

a lifelong Darien resident, died Sunday, July 30, 2000 in Darien. He was 86.

He died of heart failure, according to his family.

Born Jan. 15, 1914, in Darien, he was the son of the late Antonio and Ernestine Sawyer Bruno. His stepmother was the late Catherine Protomaster.

Mr. Bruno graduated from Darien High School.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was a sales manager for Armour & Co. for 37 years before retiring in 1970. He then worked in the meat department at Palmer's Supermarket for 15 years.

Mr. Bruno was a member of the Noroton Heights Fire Department, the Ivanhoe Lodge 107 AF & AM, the Senior Men's Association, the 60 Plus Club and the Darien Senior Activities Center.

He was a former honoree of the Darien Old Timers' Association and attended St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Darien.

Mr. Bruno is survived by a son, Joseph Thomas Bruno Jr. of Darien; a daughter, Jeanne B. Catheart of Wethersfield; two sisters, Betty Protomaster of Largo, Fla., and Ida Rick of Darien; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Mr. Bruno was predeceased by his wife, Doris Isselee Bruno; and two sisters, Grace Bruno and Isabella Traczyk.

There are no calling hours.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 4, 2000 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 1848 Post Road, Darien. The Rev. Dr. James A. Kowalski will officiate.

Burial is private.

Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien, is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Darien Senior Activities Center, 30 Edgerton St., Darien, CT 06820; or the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Drive, P.O. Box 5022, Wallingford, CT 06492.
